I give cheddars a 4 star. The food was amazing I ordered the chicken tender platter and they were some of the best chicken tenders I've ever had. The nacho app was a disappointment. It was basically 10 chips with stuff on top of each chip. This is MURICA load a bunch of nacho chips on a plate and pile stuff on top of them. Not 10 individual chips and it was 10 dollars so what I paid a dollar a chip? That's ridiculous. The only other thing was the waiter we had sucked. He forgot silverware, napkins, our drink lemons, our extra jalepenos and we had to ask for refills. And well he basically forgot we were there. Food was fantastic. Service was on point. We stopped here on our way back to OH bc we wanted an actual sit down meal vs fast food. The price for salmon, baked sweet potato, rice, and green beans was the same price I would pay at Panera for a salad. You seriously can't beat that. Quality of food was also very good. I have stopped here twice no on trips to Pittsburgh. And I must say I have not been disappointed with either visit. Both times the food was great. Served hot and prepared perfectly. On the last visit I ordered the Lemon pepper chicken and it was VERY good. The 2 veggies I picked (corn and green beans) were just as good, and I dont like veggies. And on a last note... the server we had was THE MOST outgoing and happy server Ive ever had. I wish I could remember his name to get him props. He was nothing but smiles and great attitudes. Well, I would say 60% of the meals at Cheddars are less than par, barely warm, (haven't gotten sick yet from it) no I don't want to wait more time for them to take it back and bring me more.. it already takes a longggg time to get a meal. Service isn't what it used to be for sure. They take all the great servers and make them managers... so we don't go as often as we used to, it just isn't very good anymore.......... so sad, it once was GREAT.. and 'scratch' makes me think of scratching things.. eww... stupid name... If you're driving thru and don't want McDonald's this is a good place with quick service nothing exceptional but my experience was nice

Always a long wait. Usually turns me off, but I finally decided to wait and see what packs the place. On arrival, we were told an hour wait. Ended up being around 30 minutes, which was fantastic! Our waitress was great, especially considering it was quite busy. I ordered something basic, the Smokehouse Burger. The menu says they come out medium well, but in all honesty it was super dry, even with the BBQ ranch, which I barely noticed it was on just tasting it. Upon lifting my bun, I saw that it was. The burger was not seasoned, and the portion of fries, which are not included, was small. I wasn't super hungry, part of the reason I ordered a burger, but also ate half a rack of ribs, and am still hungry. The ribs were OK. Not much flavor in the meat, but cooked well. Our food seemed to take a while to come out, but based on how busy it was, I expected it. read more

The food is great! Excellent variety, though somewhat limited for vegetarians. (A few of the vegetables have meat in them and cannot be special ordered.) The mashed potatoes are meat free and phenomenal. The onion rings appetizer is well-worth the wait. Order them first then let the wait staff come back to take your entree order. I want to address the negative reviews about the service. Initially, Cheddar's was understaffed and overpopular. They have have long since resolved the problem. We regularly get friendly and efficient service. Keep in mind this is not fast food, however. This is a sit-down restaurant to enjoy a meal with family or friends. read more

1st of all, I went there in my Navy uniform. The overweight people that were hosting should have been our 1st warning. When staff are too busy gossiping to respect a man in uniform, there's a problem. We were seated by a sloppy looking waitress whos demeanor screamed he'd rather be anywhere else. And she proved it by getting my drink wrong. And taking 20 minutes to get my guests drink. The food is so OVERSALTED that I almost gagged. And I don't mean 1 thing. I mean EVERY ITEM. So salty my tongue burned. In addition, the creamy spinach dip had hot pepper flakes in it. Not black pepper. Hot flakes. Who puts that in cream spinach dip. I've managed restaraunts. My wife is a chef. I wouldn't recommend this place to Al Qaeda. The staff should all be reviewed and the manager on duty FIRED. Cheddars is probably the shittiest restaurant in wheeling. The service is pitiful, and I'm a server so I normally give 20% if the service wasn't great but our server this most recent time never showed up... I truly don't know how she has a job because we never got the basic necessities we asked for right in the beginning, never brought refills, the check, OR even asked how our food was. I ordered my sandwich with no pickles and extra ranch. Obviously I got the sandwich still w pickles and no extra ranch. Nobody checked on us once after our initial drinks were given to us. The kicker is that we went to the bar to see if she could grab us the things we need since we couldn't find our server and the bartender COMPLETELY walked away and ignored us. My friend and I Ended up just leaving since no one bothered to come to us. The food is always mediocre or worse and our waitress was next to useless. As part of Darden restaurants everywhere, Wheeling WV's Cheddars at the Highlands is a new kind of hell. All around just bloody awful. Don't waste your money and cheddars: hire new staff. We love Cheddar's however this visit was not a great one. The food we ordered was not up to our expectations of Cheddar's. The Triple Treat Sampler appetizer was not as good as other Cheddar locations and The Sheppard's Pie was basically the ground meet mixture with a small scoop of mashed potatoes on top. Ususally at an place like this I order a Ruben or Burger, but since I had a Burger for lunch and a Ruben was not on the menu, I went with the Monte Cristo. When they came out, they looked like Beignets. A bit sweet for my tastes, I generally prefer my Monte Cristo to be on the savory side. I think next time I will go for a burger or pasta. Side House Salad was ok. Could have used less iceburg and more greens, onion, tomato, cuke, etc. The red beans and rice tasted good, but was more like a soup than a side. Never had a bad meal here. The place is pretty dim inside and could use some brighter lights, though. Prices are very reasonable. Go for the chicken tenders or buffalo chicken wrap or chicken and waffles. Edit: I went back recently with my sister. We had a gentleman named Matt as our server. I have never encountered a more friendly and pleasant server. We had a small issue with the food preparation. He brought us out another whole meal and brought another of the same prepared and ready to take home. When the bill came, the meal with the issue was taken off. He and the restaurant itself went way above the accepted standard levels of service in the restaurant industry. He continually checked on us and let us know that he appreciated US being there. Reasonbly priced and the food was pretty good. Very loud though which is one thing I never liked about the place. I asked for gravy for my mashed potatoes and ranch for the chicken tenders - when the food arrived there was no gravy on the potatoes. Two tiny plastic cups also came with my meal, one was honey mustard and I assumed the other was ranch - the lighting isn't that great either. Turns out it was my gravy but rather than the server telling me that, he went to get me a bowl of gravy. While he was away I dipped my chicken into the gravy. Haha. Me and some friends stopped in here to grab some lunch being we've never been to this chain restaurant before. On walking in we where greeted by some very nice staff. This location was pretty clean I'll have to say. The menu is very tiny to me in my opinion but this is more of a "scratch" home style place I guess there going for. We started with the chips and dip and came with a salsa that was very watery and runny, the cheese sauce that came with it we added meat to it. The cheese sauce was actually pretty good tasting kinda salty with the meat but it played well together. For lunch I had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and broccoli casserole. I gotta say everything was very delicious. It was what it is tho as for the meal didn't really have that homemade taste to it just kinda had that "chain taste food" to it. I hate to say it but a lot of places like this get in everything made and just heat it up. I felt like the side dishes I paid extra for where to small and I left feeling hungry. My two guest got the maple bacon burger with fries and really enjoyed it. My other guest got the New Orleans style pasta with scrimp and sausage. He said the pasta didn't seam cooked all the way but everything tasted good. Overall the server was nice and I would probably come here again in the future if I'm in the area. read more

The restaurant is very attractive, comfortable, and clean. We were surprised to find a wait of 20 to 25 minutes at 11:45 pm a Saturday morning, which I attribute to the restaurant operating at only about 50% occupancy during the pandemic. A lovely initial touch is the delivery of a basket of fresh, complimentary honey butter-topped croissants. Our server was attentive, pleasant, and efficient. Timing of the meal was off: the first course: soup, was brought seconds before the entrees. The baked potato cheese soup was outstanding. The tiny portion of cole slaw was perfect: delicious and not too creamy. The tiny portion of broccoli cheddar casserole side dish was very good. The chicken pot pie was satisfactory: I have had better. The sauce was nothing special. Our chicken alfredo dish was delicious, but was not hot. The pot pie and soup were piping hot. Prices are what one would expect for the quality and quantity offered: fair. The selection of items is large and there is something for everyone. Our recent experience has convinced me to never go back there again. First, our 20 minute wait turned into 50 minutes. When we finally asked they got us a seat immediately so I guess we had been overlooked. We waited a bit for our drinks, understandable because they were busy. I ran out of tea and asked 3 times before getting a refill. They forgot my grandmothers dinner. Then we tried to pay. He took our tickets back four times to try to get them correct and on the fourth time I actually took a pen and wrote down exactly what we had eaten and he still got it wrong! We paid the extra just to get out of there and will be finding somew here new to eat on our Cabela trips. read more
