It's new so yes, they have server problems and cook problems. I've been there 3x already in just the past 2 weeks and love it. Not everything has been perfect but I'm not sure any resturant ever really is around here. For an $8 meal w/2 sides, I can't complain much. Plus I always have left overs for lunch the next day. It's very clean and I love being able to take my kids there. It's somewhat of a noisy place so my kids are kind of tuned out from all the talking there. Although I previously gave Cheddar's a rave review, I've changed my mind. It's not the fault of the servers at this location, but rather the higher-ups and the corporation itself. The Menu is misleading. I ordered the Grown-Up Grilled Cheese, the boyfriend ordered the Braised Beef Roast. Here is the wording straight from the menu: Grown-Up Grilled Cheese 7.29 Slow roasted Provimi Beef, four slices of Cheddar and white American cheeses on grilled potato bread. Braised Fall-a-part Beef Roast 9.99 All natural, hormone-free beef from Provimi's Copper Ridge Ranch, slow roasted for tenderness and flavor with roasted carrots, celery, onion, au jus over mashed potatoes. Boyfriend was not happy with his beef; it was very pale and, though tender, looked and tasted more like pork than beef. He asked the server if this was the braised beef. She assured us it was and said she would send the kitchen manager to speak with us. The kitchen manager arrived and boyfriend explained that he wasn't happy with the dish and was it beef or pork. The kitchen manager then said that it was VEAL, and pointed-out that it was the SAME MEAT AS WAS IN MY SANDWICH! I was shocked, disgusted and sick. I had already eaten half the sandwich. I am against veal and would not eat it both for personal and health reasons, as would my boyfriend. The manager did not seem to understand why we were so upset. We explained that we would rather the menu be truthful and tell us that the dish contained veal, rather than tricking us into ordering something that we may chose not to eat. We received a free desert and a few dollars off our Grandpa's gristle-filled ribeye, but that was all. I looked-up 'Provimi' online and found that it's a farm that specializes in veal (but also offers other meats through its online store), but how am I supposed to know that while sitting in the restaurant!? I've never been to another restaurant that substitutes veal for beef, visa-versa, or does not label it as such on the menu. Veal is higher in cholesterol and beef is defined as coming from a cow over 2-years old. It would be the same if I had ordered a vegetarian soup and was then told that the broth was chicken based. I've written a letter to corporate concerning their inaccurate menu and will encourage others to question not only these two menu options, but any others containing beef to ensure you are eating what you think you are eating. I hate to give a negative review because the dining experience was actually very nice. But to summarize in one word: SALT!!!!!! The food was so horrendously salty it was unpleasant. Our daughter got tenders with a side of corn. The portions were good and the tenders were quality chicken, but she took one bite of the corn and spit it out. She tends to be picky, so i tasted it and it was nearly inedible. On top of the tasty season salt...was just plain salt. The server was more than willing to swap out some fries very quickly. I had the cajun pasta which was also a nice dish, except that the main flavor was salt. It was so strong that i didn't finish it. The only dish that wasn't too bad was my wife's salad, where the lettuce cut the salt on the chicken breast. Disclaimer, we don't cook with a lot of salt, but do dine out regularly without this problem. We will probably go back at some point, but we'll stick to dinner salads etc. read more

From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we were taken care of by probably the best server we've ever had. Courtney H. was an absolute rock star! She was super attentive but not over bearing, pleasant to talk to and took care of everything with grace and ease! This was our first time at Cheddar's and between the amazing food and staff we will be returning. Having just been to my first Cheddars in Kentucky a few weeks ago, I was excited to spot this location along route 30 in York. With an easy on/off from both 30 and I-83, this seemed like the perfect spot for a quick dinner before heading back home to New Jersey. It was about 9:00 when we arrived, yet there seemed to be a wait. However being only a party of two the hostess asked us if a booth in the bar would be OK, it was and off we went... or so we thought. It turned out tables that were supposed to be clean, were in fact dirty. Led back to the hostess station, we were then led to the other side of the restaurant with 4-seater booths where, yep... again, all dirty, except for one. Thankfully we were sat at the one clean table, however I couldn't help but feel sorry for the other patrons who were waiting. Here the restaurant had plenty of empty tables, yet they just hadn't been cleaned. This was a management issue, which I hope was just localized to that night. Service was very friendly, however extremely, extremely, slow. I don't fault the waiter however, as he clearly had too many tables to take care of. Needless to say, our quick dinner ended up being a couple-hour event. That said, when we requested items they were brought out eventually, which even with the slow service he managed to bring out a couple (free) refills, which was nice. Upon leaving he even gave a fresh assortment of sauces in souffle cups to accompany the onion rings and salad, which was too much to eat in one sitting. Food was comparable to what I had experienced previously at the Kentucky location... nothing special, but filling. We ordered onion rings (a portion large enough for 4 people or more!), a Smokehouse burger, a side salad, a Buffalo Chicken wrap, and two iced teas. The rings were served with a horseradish/chipotle sauce and ranch dressing, fried in a thin though somewhat soggy breading. The side salad was very generous for its price, with a mix of greens, tomato, croutons, and a very buttery croissant. The burger was typical for a chain restaurant, well done (had asked medium), and had most of what was supposed to be on it... didn't taste/see the BBQ sauce. The Buffalo Chicken Wrap was excellent, with a portion large enough to be lunch the next day. The wrap was overstuffed with plenty of juices dripping. While I'm still not sure why people would wait the way they do for dinner here, the value is very good for what you get. Where else can you get so much food, yet still have the bill come to under 30 bucks. It isn't worth a drive out of the way to eat at, however if you're driving along route 30, or I-83 looking for a bite to eat, and not in a rush, this is a solid choice. read more

I'm back again. This time I came here with my family and two of my close friends. They were some what busy and we has a party of 8, however we didn't wait long. We were seated in two booths back to back from one another. I ordered my favorite drink, Texas tea. As I was looking over the menu I noticed they no longer have my shepherds pie. Always our favorite spot for date night except for Sunday. Waitress was adorable but hardly left us impressed with her service. Only 1 round of drinks never came to refill until we were waiting for the bill. Wait time was unusually long, that was fine because I love the food. I ordered the combo of mid well steak with chicken strips. It came covered in buffalo sauce.( Which I hate!) Waitress said they goofed. I said no problem I'll eat it. We were driving home from a long four day road trip. After spending the day in Gettysburg, we were looking for some good, fast and cheap. I had driven past Cheddar's multiple times and wanted to try it out. Boy, was I glad we did. There was almost zero wait. We were seated and greeted by Hunter, how was AWESOME! He was a huge help the entire time. We each had a lemonade, I had strawberry and my friend had raspberry. Not my FAVORITE lemonade but it was good. Lemonade was very tart for my taste. I ordered the Key West Chicken and Shrimp and my friend ordered the Cajun Pasta. Both came with salad and croissant. Order the salad just for the bread. It is AMAZING! I wanted more. LOL! My chicken and shrimp was awesome. Small portion but big on flavor. The marinade was amazing. I had a side of broccoli and cheese casserole. Had I known it was so good, I would have ordered two of them. My friend loved her pasta, it was a HUGE serving. I'm not big on spice but it had the right amount of kick for her. I don't even know where to start with this place. I've seen their name in different magazines and thought I would give it a try. I just pulled in to town and all I wanted was a decent meal. I sat at the bar and spoke to bartenders Becky and Blake. I ask them what was good I know we're both very enthusiastic about the made from scratch and told me how good the food was. I ordered ribs & shrimp with 2 side dishes. This is my 1st experience with this chain and they hit it out of the ballpark on every level from the delicious food to the friendly staff and the reasonable prices. I only have one complaint. Absolutely delicious! Went with my husband and daughter. I had the maple bacon chicken sandwich and fries. It was amazing...chicken was moist maple bacon was to die for...and most importantly it came out HOT!! Same with my husband had the smokehouse burger...cooked right not dried out.my daughter got chicken fingers and fries. Also very good! We use to eat there a lot. At least twice a month.The last few times we have been there have been very disappointing. The service was very slow and they weren't busy. Ordered our food waited. About 15 minutes. Finally the server came back and said it would be out in a few minutes. we told a server, not ours because we never saw her, we had been waiting for 45 min. It was brought out, not by out server, and it was cold. You get plenty of food for the price and the food is usually good . Getting to-go usually seems like a headache though. Something is either missing, your order sits around before they bring it out, or it sits on the bar for 10 mins before someone takes the time to hand it out . My kids and I were visiting York for the York County Fair. We decided to eat at Cheddars Scratch Kitchen. We gave our name and they told us it would be a 15 minute wait. In reality we only waited 5 minutes which was great. Out server was friendly and nice. We ordered our food and my one daughter only wanted nachos. Unfortunately they were out so she ordered the cheese bites instead. Our food came except my daughter's cheese bites. The woman bringing the food realized without me saying anything stated she would go back to the kitchen to see where the cheese bites were. The food was very good and the server came over to apologize for the cheese bites delay. She said they would be buying the cheese bites. That wasn't necessary but extremely nice. After we ate we were talking and relaxing. I started to feel sick, not from the food. I have a heart murmur I was born with and sometimes I get an irregular heart rate for no reason. My children are teenagers but I didn't want to scare them, they know about my murmur and get upset when I've been in the hospital at times. I thought if I went to the bathroom and threw water on my face I would feel better. As I walked towards the bathroom I felt faint and was sweating. I knew I was going down. When I got to the front I asked the hostess for help. I collapsed on a bench and had to lay down. The hostess was wonderful and sweet. She sat with me and brought me water. Customers probably thought I was drunk haha. The hostess stayed with until I felt better. She told me she has epilepsy. Once I felt better she walked me to the bathroom. In the bathroom I text my kids and came out. I asked the hostess for the check so we could leave. The server quickly took my check and I paid. Everything was fine. We went back to the hotel and my heart had a normal heart rate. This restaurant not only has good food, friendly service, they were wonderful to me when I was sick. This restaurant surprised me with being right off two major highways. The atmosphere and environment was very warm and friendly. The separate bar/dining area made it easy for us to relax, not rushed and we had excellent service. The cheese bite appetizers were delicious with the marinara sauce. We all had soup. We really love Cheddar's. The food really does taste made-from-scratch. Salad dressings are AMAZING, seafood is awesome, my son always get the chicken tenders, which are the best WE'VE ever tasted (there are never any left, even when he can't eat them all! :) Appetizers are the best, drinks are also great. The broccoli casserole side, green beans, corn, black beans- all rock. And on top of all this, it's actually pretty CHEAP. Round the Clock Diner across the street is more expensive and it tastes like crap. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it's steaks/meats leave a little to be desired, according to my husband, the meat man. Go to a steakhouse for that stuff. I was there Sunday evening catching up with a few cousins of mine. We ordered chips and dips as an appetizer, it took over 30 minutes to come out...Our server kept saying the kitchen was backed up but there were literally 2 or 3 other (small) tables...and how long does it take to plate chips and dip? Our main came out about 20 minutes later. I ordered the buffalo chicken tenders and they were great! Portions are huge, so that is great! However I tried some of my sister's salmon and it was very salty. After we finished our meal, we had to wait another 15 minutes because our server never put in a to-go order. Instead of saying so, she said the kitchen had to cook it over again...my bet's she never ordered it because it wasn't on the bill. Food was good but service was terrible, ending the transaction by knocking a full glass of water all over me. Mistakes happen but this could have easily been avoided by removing silverware from the plates before stacking. My cousins to go order was supposed to be well done, it was medium rare. This is a traditional American menu, they have the burgers and the chicken and the pasta and the standard appetizers. What keeps me coming back are the delicious Texas cheese fries!! You think you're gonna get the standard loaded fries with melted cheese and bacon with a side of ranch for dipping but you actually get an enormous serving for a relatively low price (about 7 or 8 dollars) and they are way better than some other places I've been to (Lyndon Diner in Lancaster for example). read more
