Did some project shopping at Home Depot a crossed the street and stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Parking lot is quite huge and empty now with a few of the big stores closing down. They offer lunch specials for about $10.25 with a good variety of options and heat/spice levels. I had the generals chicken which was most excellent with pork fried rice which was also very good and hot and sour soup. The soup was exactly what I expected and was pretty good. My wife had the cashew chicken which was pretty good, but not as tasty as the general chicken. She also had chow mein which was well flavored but possibly sitting around a little too long so was kind of dry. The quantity was a good size portion of food that filled me up and made me feel my $10 was well spent. I would definitely go back for the generals chicken, but maybe not the cashew chicken. read more

Unfortunately though I've been a loyal patron for a # of years, I can no longer recommend this place. Most recent time I ordered to go, some gal that works there said something about me not showing up to pick up a previous order. I told her in the times that I've ordered by phone, I've always showed up to pick up. I pointed out that maybe it's someone else with the same name, etc. & stated to her I was in less than 2 weeks ago to order to go & another lady that works there whom I've seen before didn't bring up the topic. Though it may be cultural to not welcome your customers, don't ever grill your customer in the presence of other customers in your venue. There are many other Chinese restaurants that I can frequent where I've been treated with more respect & warmth. I suggest that this place is to be passed! read more

Here is my two cents on the food and some chatter. I had my food delivered by GrubHub. It arrived in a timely matter and the food is still hot. My order was steamed pork buns, extra spicy, Mongolian, beef, Kung, Pao, chicken, extra spicy, and hot and sour soup. Steamed pork buns and the hot and sour soup. .. Were just regular, but they were the best of my order. I requested all of my food to always be extra spicy. In this case they failed miserably. The Kung Pao chicken was not spicy whatsoever. It was just a mild to medium ... also, there was much more vegetables which included celery, than actual chicken . It was the same for my Mongolian beef not very spicy. Plus I paid two dollars extra to get extra meat in which they did or I seemed that they provided the extra beef that I requested. . I have pretty good taste buds, and it seemed to me that they were using an old oil. And they use the same pan for the same dishes my Kung Pao chicken and my Mongolian beef. Because they seem to have the same flavoring, and it just seem odd. .. Oh yes, one thing I noticed throughout the Chinese restaurant I've been eating ..No one adds rice, plain simple, white rice. If you don't ask for it and pay for it, they don't seem to include it in the meal anymore and it was the same with Chef Bo. The other thing is that Chef Bo has been the only Chinese restaurant. that has included, or given me without asking fortune cookies. I thought serving white rice and fortune cookies was the standard items.....to be always included in the Chinese meal. Obviously this has changed.. I may sometimes in the future to retry this place, just for my own satisfaction that my first review was correct . read more

I've been going to Chef Bo several years now and can say, the food is on point all the time. The staff is always friendly whether you place your order over the phone or in person. I usually order their lunch specials, but do order the occasional dinner from them as well. The portions are always huge and in point. One of my favorites is the Orange Chicken, Beef Broccoli, vegetable chow mein and the veggie egg rolls . They always get my order out pretty fast. I've never had any issue with the food or service. I highly recommend giving them a try and support you local family restaurants. read more

Kind of just discovered this restaurant the food is awesome. It's reasonably priced. We had the a dinner for two which is $16 each. The servers are all awesome and sweet. They remember me from last time and it looks new on the inside. This isn't one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Sacramento, but Sacramento has so many and this is really solid fast food, services is excellent, they happily take special cooking requests and the food comes out quickly.. The lunch special is what everybody orders. It has loads of food. You get either chowmein or rice (or half-a-half), a fried ragoon, anda stir fry main dish. It ,and all orders, come with a tasty hot and sour soup cupw. I however, don't go for Chineses lunch combos, so I ordered the chowfun; they don't normally serve with charchu barbecue pork, but were happy to oblige my request. The noodles are perfectly cooked and the pork was good and it had a little bit of green onion and bean sprouts. It was tasty. They have Chile oil/paste on the table to spice it up too. The cheap lunch does go up with the price of a drink and since I think there special I did spend the better part of $20 on lunch but I had leftovers. I would sit down here for a fast lunch a few times a year if I was in the area and I had a hankering for chowfun. read more

I used to come here on my lunch from school and the staff here is so nice that we have our own booth if it is not occupied by another customer. I love their lunch options which include chow mein and fried rice or you can have either. They are very fast in the kitchen and your food comes out piping hot when you order. I usually order the orange chicken with chow mein and fried rice lunch combo and it never disappoints. Oh I forgot their lunch combos come with hot and sour soup and a cream cheese wonton The orange chicken is super crunchy and the sauce is perfect although it is tucked away in the corner of a dinky parking lot next to McDonald's they get a lot of traffic because the workers in the area. Their prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. I know that when I go, I will always have leftovers and I eat a lot. First time visit review. This restaurant is on FO Blvd near the McDonalds restaurant. Tucked away in a strip mall - easy to miss. Lots of parking in front. Clean and nice inside. I came in for solo dinner and I like that they have a dinner special plate ( like a lunch plate) so you don't have to order a full selection of things. It was around $10. On my days off, I enjoy ordering lunch from Chef Bo. I always place my order on the phone, don't expect the best phone etiquette, but at least you order will be correct, lol. I usually order the Orange chicken lunch special you have the choice of white rice, fried rice or vegetable chow mein and includes a cream cheese & imitation crab wonton. They do not charge extra if you want half rice or chow mein during lunch. I love the chow mein so that's my go to. They are very generous with the their portions and the food is always tasty. I have been a customer of Chef Bo's since they have been in business. The food has always been wonderful - never disappointed- until the food quality I received this evening. First time to this restaurant. We ordered Kung pao, chicken, orange chicken, wonton soup, chicken fried rice, and pork chow mein. Started off with potstickers. The food was excellent. We had our appetizers within three minutes. We had our meal 2 to 3 minutes after that. They filled our water glasses at least four times. Service was awesome. Price super reasonable. I ordered food to my hotel while staying in the area and I was pleasantly surprised with the food flavor of the food. I had the Mongolian beef which was ok and a little too spicy and had a lot more onions and bell Peppers than actual meat. I also ordered the chicken fried rice and it was delicious! Seriously I have eaten Chinese food all over the US and this was one of the best chicken fried rice dishes I have tasted. For that reason Chef Bo gets 4 stars from me. I would definitely eat that again but I would not order the Mongolian beef ever again. This is not worth the price. It literally looked like a vegan plate with as much of the onions and bell peppers it had as compared to the meat it actually had. I recently got delivery from Chef Bo. I requested that the dishes be made hot, but they weren't really spicy. We noticed toward the end of our meal that they did throw in a little container of hot sauce. My pork with hot garlic sauce was ok, a bit too many bamboo shoots for the amount of pork and a bit too saucy, but there was enough for leftovers. My husband's Schezwan beef had a little more flavor but, again, wasn't too hot, which I would have expected with a name including "Schezwan." Oh well. I ordered the General Tsao lunch with steamed rice 1/2 chow mein. This was a pickup order. The warm chicken had the wrong sauce, it was just sweet (super) with zero spice, there was Broccoli in it as welli ??? rice hot and good but the chow mein was just warm. Disappointing as this was my 2nd time ordering this item and yet if this had been the 1st time, I never would have returned...So, Disappointing. the rating is for the portion size and the steamed rice. read more
