I asked other people if this was normal and they were in a similar spot as us being their first time to this establishment. We finally were seated, ordered their rainbow dumplings plus two other veg and pork rolls. In addition we ordered three entrees. They delivered entrees first, never asked us for drink refills... then we got our appetizers except our dumplings... and to be honest that is why we went there. Great dining experience at Chef Sun's. We got the pork soup dumplings, biang biang noodles, and chili wontons. The chili wontons were just okay, not enough meat but everything else was amazing. The soup dumplings were loaded with soup and skin was very thin and not doughy. The soup was very flavorful and didn't have a porky flavor that some do. The biang biang noodles were packed with flavor. The noodles could've been wider and thinner but they did have a great chewy texture. They are very generous with the minced garlic and chili flakes and the flavor just blooms when they pour the hot oil on top of it. You don't even need to add meat as it's already great on its own. This was my first time visiting this restaurant and it was a great experience! The food is tasty and it is a very good portion as well. Ambiance: There is medium noise level from music and it wasn't very busy when I went there during lunch time 12-1 pm. The servers are very friendly and constantly checked up on our table. There is plenty of seating ranging from table/chairs to booth seating. Biang Biang noodles: This dish has very long noodles that have a slight sour taste but also a hint of garlic and spice. It is overall pretty tasty but not one of the dishes I would probably choose next time. Beef flat noodle: This was SO TASTY! I loved how it came in such a big dish with flavor noodles and tender meat. The dish was so tasty and paired nicely with the other dishes I ordered. Wontons: This dish was good it had a special spicy sauce on it but it wasn't too spicy. It had a lot of unique flavors and overall good dish. Soup dumpling: This was one of my favorites!! We have always loved Chef Sun and its predecessor, Steam Dumpling. Unfortunately, they are now halal. This means no more tasty pork dumplings, so we went with beef and they were great! But the beef in the beef burrito (beef roll) and also the clear broth beef noodle soup is less tender. I think it must be sourced differently. My husband and I, we are always on the lookout for a good dumpling place so when we saw Chef Sun's noodle dumpling very near to our local Kroger we were ecstatic. So glad that tried this place because they are fantastic! We had their soup dumplings which is some of the best I have had, their shrimp and pork shumai, which was phenomenal and chicken corn dumpling was delicious! I have been to this place twice. The first dine in experience was not bad. But I placed my online order and pickup my dinner today and the food was quite disappointing. I ordered (1) Biangbiang Noodles - the noodles were a bit mushy. (2) Beef Burriot - I used to like this a lot but today's order - the green onion pancake part is stale (3) Red Oil Wonton - the taste is ok but the skin of the wontons literally tasted like dumpling skin(too thick), it is not authentic wonton skin. (4) Chicken with String Bean(come with rice) - I was hoping to add some veggies to my meal but the green bean is loggy and tasted like it's from fronzen beans. Plus the seasoning/sauce of this dish is literlly what you get from Panda express like of dish. It wasn't took busy so we were able to immediately grab a seat. This go around I took a friend from out of town and we shared the steamed colorful dumplings, Singapore noodles and biang biang noodles. The Singapore noodles were the star of the show. They were full of a variety of protein and the flavor was excellent. This one also reheated really well so I was Abe to enjoy it multiple times. This is my second visit to the establishment. I didn't learn this until after the visit, but apparently, this restaurant now has a new owner from my last visit (a few years ago). I tried a few dishes here like the beef burrito, biang biang noodle, and a few dumplings. The noodle wasn't bad and actually pretty tasty. The burrito and dumplings, however, were below expectations. They tasted kinda bland compared to the same dishes I had at other places. On top of that, the portion was a small compared to the price they charged. Not outrageous, but I was hoping to feel a bit more full. The server was nice and accommodating when taking the order. They could check on my table a bit more tho as I had to flag them anytime I wanted some water. Overall, still not a bad place to go if you want some noodles. Finally got to go back after they rebranded as Chef Sun's Noodles. I don't know if the owner has really changed but the food all still tasted good so I'm happy. My favorites are of course their soup dumplings, beef burrito, and biang biang noodles. Steamed dumplings were very juicy and flavorful. After Steam Dumpling (originally at this location) closed at the beginning of the year and the signage for Chef Sun's went up about a month ago, I was very much looking forward to stopping by and trying out the new restaurant, especially when I saw some of the same items on the menu + a much larger entree section. I'm happy to say that Chef Sun's will definitely be added onto our regular rotation of Chinese spots to dine at in the future :) I came with my husband and a group of 4 other adults and 2 kids last Friday around 5PM for dinner. My husband and I were seated in the center of the restaurant and the servers were all super attentive while we were waiting for our friends to arrive, bringing by menus and waters. Once the kids got there they also gave us styrofoam water cups and plastic trays for the kids to use as well as a highchair for one of them. They also stopped by all throughout our meal to refill waters and make sure we had everything we needed. We ordered a bunch of stuff family style to share. My favorites of the night were the dumplings (pork soup, panfried pork & cabbage, steamed sanxian), the biang biang noodles, and the green beans, but honestly everything we had ranged from solid to excellent. All kitchen dishes come with unlimited white rice which paired very well with the green beans and the eggplant with garlic sauce. The pork soup dumplings were super flavorful and very soupy whilst still having a thin skin; probably the best version we've had in the area. The beef pan fried pie was fine - I usually prefer mine with more soup/looser filling and these were pretty dry, but the skin was well-done and the flavor was good. I asked for the beef roll without cilantro and it came out with a bit of cilantro still inside it, but it wasn't so much that I couldn't just pick it out of the piece I got. Still very good at this new place. And the biang biang noodles! A really excellent chew and a nice kick to the sauce. My husband pointed out that Chef Sun's version is a little soupier and a little tangier but honestly I enjoyed it just as much. The old Steam Dumpling was probably my FIL's favorite Chinese place in the area; having now tried Chef Sun's, I'm very confident that he'll enjoy this place as well. The service was nice and the place was clean and ambient. The food came quickly so that was a plus since I was pretty hungry. The soup dumplings came first and their quality was good. The skin was thin and the soup from the dumplings sank to the bottom. That gives an indicator that the skin of the dumplings are of good quality since they can hold their weight while still being thin. The pan fried dumplings were yummy as well but I wish they fried it a little longer, my preference, so that the bottom gets crispier. The soup inside the pan fried dumplings was also super flavorful. I was feeling a little unwell so I also got the clear broth beef soup that they had. The server recommended it to me since I had let her know how I was feeling and didn't want anything spicy. Something a little more mild to ease my stomach. The soup was pleasant and had good flavor while being mild on my belly. The noodles were chewy and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The only downside is the restroom. It's a little TMI but when I went inside I was BLASTED with AC. I went to do my business and noticed there was only TWO more pleats of toilet paper. I folded the fold to make it into one and folded it once more to make it slightly thicker. I nearly crashed out since I couldn't properly wipe.
