Let me start by saying this place was fantastic! The food arrived fresh, hot, and packed with amazing flavor. The fried rice was absolutely delicious. My only suggestion would be to add a few more shrimp since I ordered the shrimp fried rice, but the taste was excellent. The Mongolian beef had great flavor as well. I would love to see a little less onion and a bit more beef, but I'd definitely order it again. The crab rangoon was served hot, crispy, and absolutely delicious. I live in Kentucky, where it's been nearly impossible to find good Chinese food, so I was craving a simple meal like I used to get at Canton Restaurant back home in Miami. This completely hit the spot and brought back a little taste of home. Delivery was fast, and the driver was very polite and courteous. Worst interaction i ever had with a Restauranteur. I was at a conference in Orlando and was referred to Cheng's by the front desk. When I arrived there was a neon sign in the window eat in/take out. I told the woman behind the counter that I wanted to dine in. She never left her seat behind the counter. She handed me a menu and I sat in a booth. She answered my questions about the menu from the distance (not engageing). I gave her my order and she demanded money up front??? Her husband I am assuming... chimed in and gave me the option of paying upfront or after finishing the meal! Finally... the meal arrived in a to go bag with paper plates. I looked at her with steam coming out of me....and said STUPID STUPID STUPID and walked out. She started screaming at me in Chinese. Stay away! After a long day of work and late flight arrival I decided to order some food. There are a lot of chinese restaurants close by but this restaurant offered the fastest delivery. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken served with rice and the steamed dumplings, the portions were generous and the food was amazing. The chicken had lots of flavor and the rice was very delicious too. I really enjoyed the filling and texture of the dumplings. Enough sauce was sent and my yummy food arrived hot. My husband and I have been enjoying this family restaurant for nearly 20 years. Their food has always been plentiful, fresh and well seasoned. This past Friday we ordered our three favorite dishes and discovered a couple of the shrimp egg foo young patties were clearly burned on one side...facing down in the container. We were shocked to find burned food in our carry out order; but I guess there is a first time for everything! We were probably their last customers for the night and the restaurant would be locked and shuttered by the time we returned with the burned food. We were hungry and ate around the burned patties...very unhappy campers. We paid a pretty penny for the food and feel slighted that the server would pawn off obviously burned food on good paying.custumers. I guess they don't care much about 20 years of customer loyalty. I can't believe I've never reviewed Cheng's! This is usually my go to for Chinese takeout. I've had a variety of different meals from here and never found one I didn't like. My favorites are the chicken with garlic sauce, the lo mein, their fried rice, and I also enjoy their sushi rolls. I always get their wonton soup since the combos usually come with it. It's not the best wonton soup I've had and it's a little skimpy on the wontons, but it's decent. The egg rolls are decent as well. It's really the rest of the food I find to be very good. Their fried rice is one of my favorites and it has a great flavor without needing to add soy sauce (even though I still do because it's a guilty pleasure of mine!) I enjoy their sushi rolls also; they always taste fresh and flavorful. In addition, Cheng's does deliver and their delivery people are always pleasant and find the apartment most of the time which is challenging for most delivery services. If you haven't tried out this spot yet, I definitely recommend it! read more

Came here to get some cheap takeout. For the lunch menu I ordered A with the egg drop soup and wontons and got B which was with just the egg roll. They charged me for A which was more expensive and only gave me B, and I didn't realize until I was already home. We were the only customers there when it opened so idk how they could've messed that up. Oh well, at least it was cheap. This is my second visit to Cheng's. Both visits have been on a Saturday during their buffet. Their buffet is $6.45 per person and it's well worth the price. They have favorites like Lo Mein, three different soup selections including won ton. They also include sushi and several desserts like jello, almond cookies, and little pieces of cake. They have a great selection of traditional Chinese plates for eat in, take out and delivery. The service is awesome. They are very attentive always asking if you need anything and filing your glass. The place is small and quaint, but enough for medium size parties (round tables) and booths. This is certainly going to be a regular place that my family and I will visit. read more

Was in the mood for Chinese take out and stumbled across this place when I was out for some grocery items. Wonton soup, pork fried rice and Mongolian pork was my group of selections to keep me for three meals. Fellow at the counter was very friendly, patient and solicitous. He encouraged me to customize and try different things. So I ordered the rice extra well done and dark with extra bean sprouts. It was spot on! Wonton soup was a bit under dressed as far as scallions or spinach. However broth was flavorful and the wontons were firm, fresh and yummy. Crisp noodles tasted homemade. I crush them to a pulp and add them to the broth for a good crunch, and those suckers held up well to their soupy bath. Mongolian pork isn't something I've ever really seen. Basically like Mongolian beef, oddly enough. Just no actual cow was killed in the making of this dish. All nice, hot and fresh. Also had a nondescript egg roll, but all in all I'd go again should I ever find myself in the area once more. read more

Great place. I've been meaning to try this hole in the wall for two years now and I'm saddened I haven't visited earlier. It's definitely one of the better takeout areas in Orlando. As I've stated in a few of my other reviews, aesthetics are a big deal to me and food just tastes better when you are in a clean environment. Although empty, this restaurant was clean and nicely put together. They had a buffet area but they only have this feature for lunch for a really cheap price. It's funny to me how not one table or booth was sat in the evening, however, they seem to have a revolving door with their to go orders. So busy! And for good reason. My wife and I got the general TSO chicken combination meal(pork fried rice, egg roll, egg drop soup) and substituted the pork fried rice with the vegetarian fried rice for 50c extra. We got chicken on the stick, an extra egg roll and a full chicken fried rice. The meal came out to 28 dollars but it was so much food it's as if we spent 14 because we literally have the majority of our meal in our fridge for leftovers. It was so filling and so delicious. I, of course, have critiques. The chicken on the stick could have been more saucey. It didn't have enough teriyaki but it wasn't as greasy as I have had in the past so it was a good trade. This place I have mix feelings about, pretty good Chinese food not the greatest but even better sushi. I being from New York so I'm spoiled with amazing Chinese food and amazing sushi spots! Being said I hold any Chinese restaurant out here in Orlando to the "We have New York style Chinese food" that they claim to be on the menu but they don't quite measure up. The dumplings are ok I've had way way better, the wings here they only give you like 2 wings for $4 smh and the wings are average. The chicken and broccoli is good worth the try but again not my go too, All in all the Chinese food is average but I can say the sushi is really good for a Chinese/Japanese place. read more

I recently moved to this area and I had past this restaurant a few times. I ordered the General Tso Tofu, Spring Rolls and Vegetable Mei Fun! I called Chengs and the gentleman who answered was so nice. He allowed me to make my changes with no hesitation. This place has been around for years and it is still the place near the airport for Chinese food. The food is always fresh, fast and tastes great. Portions are huge and they always seem to throw something in extra for larger orders. I haven't tried the sushi yet, but love the chicken wings, curry chicken, pork Lo Mein, egg drop soup and many other traditional items. They deliver if you are close and have take out as well as lunch buffet and dine in. We have tried many other Chinese quick service restaurants in a 3 mile square radius of Cheng's but none of them can compete. Tonight I ordered Szechuan Chicken (Combination B which is the smaller portion) and Avocado Cream Cheese roll. The Avocado Cream Cheese roll was basically just cream cheese. There was the tiniest sliver of Avocado. I also had a piece of plastic in one of the rolls. The Szechuan chicken had great flavor, perfect amount of spice and a ginormous proportion. Next to it is the pork fried rice that was plenty, but tasted like it was reheated and old. As of this review, there are not many good Chinese restaurants in the Lake Nona area, so my daughter and I ventured out to Cheng's chinese restaurant for dinner since I had enjoyed eating their lunch buffet several months ago while waiting for my car to get detailed. Two weeks ago we had Kim Wu chinese which was AWESOME. While Cheng's menu items are similar, the quality of ingredients was not the same . My daughter had the Chicken and Broccoli, w/fried rice. I had the General Tso's chicken w/fried rice. The Chicken and Broccoli was well seasoned, fresh, served hot, and the sauce had a good balance. The General Tso's chicken was okay, but the red sauce had too much sugar. I could only get through half my chicken because my saliva started feeling like syrup. The pork fried rice was bland, it seemed to be lacking salt and/or pork seasoning. The egg roll seemed like it was a standard issue freezer to oven/fried item. In fairness, it was okay, but definitely not made from scratch. The WonTon soup was outstanding. It had a good balance of flavors and the dumplings in the soup were good, but they could have used a bit more seasoning. Kudos to Cheng's on their meal presentation, I think it's better than Kim Wu's. As always: - Would I go back? Yes - Do I recommend it to others? Yes, if you happen to be in the area. read more
