I've been coming here for about 3 years. Food is always consistent. They have never messed up my orders even with special requests. Service is prompt and hassle free. Best of all the place doesn't feel gross when you walk in like some other Chinese places. You can see in their kitchen and it's fairly clean. I wish they would add themselves to a delivery service so I dont have to drive 7mins (lol) but im sure they have their budgetary reasons. Taste is as expected. The hardest thing to do everyday is "what's for dinner?" Chinese food is always and option. The problem is finding exceptions Chinese take-out has been a struggle in the 13yrs since we moved here from The Bronx. On this night, Bamboo Wok was not terrible. It's the first place that my husband said, "the wings are good. Flavor and crispy" and I agreed. The pork fried rice was not bad either. The service was prompt. I like efficiency without fluff. The location is great, same plaza as the Avalan Park Publix and next to Pesaros. Plenty of parking. If you want to dine in, I believe, I counted 4 tables, each with 4 chairs. read more

This is a pretty good place for Chinese takeout. I really like the rice, the food has good flavor, and the lunch specials are cheap and plentiful. I prefer it to other disastrous Chinese restaurants around here, and even beats some of the fancier places. But, all items are amazing, for example, the soups are OK. Also, stale cookies and noodles are not great. So, 3 stars is good with a mention for good enough food. read more

Decent neighborhood takeout place. I always start with hot and sour soup. It shows if they're doing it right or just mailing it in. The soup had all the right ingredients. The issue was the broth was too thin. And it was sweet and not hot or sour. It's in the name! Not a great start. The egg roll is what you'd expect. Not home made. But perfectly fine. Next was chicken with mixed vegetables combo platter. It's everything you'd want. It's big enough to maybe split it for lunch the next day. The real star is the fried rice. It was fresh and delicious. It wasn't that crazy orange you find at a lot of places. I'd eat that rice everyday! So overall not a bad place. Needs some improvement but perfectly fine. I am actually awaiting my order. Let me start off this review with the fact that the customer service is horrible. I walked up to place my order and I asked how their curry chicken was prepared (I find that some places make it almost like a soup). The girl's response was "curry chicken" I asked for her to elaborate and was just given a stare. I opted for the szechuan pork. Now I have my food and while not horrible, it is by no means good. My expectations were pretty low, but not even met (for flavor & quality of food). THE GOOD -Food seemed freshly prepared -No food poisoning -Fried rice was good -They allowed me to sub out pork fried rice for veggie fried rice at no add'l charge -Veggies were fresh -Large portions for what you pay -Egg rolls are large size -Fast preparation (maybe 10 minutes) -Adequate service THE COULD-BE-BETTER -Not a lot of meat in the Sweet & Sour chicken - lots of breading (see photos) -Sweet & Sour sauce tastes a bit watered down -Sweet & Sour chicken does not come with veggies or pineapple. It is just weak-tasting red sauce and lots of breaded chicken (mostly breading) -The flavor of General Tso's chicken was lacking. I've had MUCH tastier General Tso's chicken elsewhere, like Fusian Asian Bistro (for the same price, too) -Service without a smile - it was kind of sad being in there to pick up food -They do not deliver OVERALL Meh. Been ordering takeout from here for a few years now. Never been let down - because I know what to expect. Service is spot on, fast, and friendly. Amazing consistency, and when they tell you 10 minutes, it will be 10 minutes. Lots of places in town if you're looking for other Asian specialties or something different. This place fits the need for quick takeout and has been a regular for our family. Call them and get some typical American Chinese takeout...it's fine!! read more

2.5 stars for Bamboo Wok. Bamboo Wok has been in business a long time. When we first moved to Avalon, they were the closest NY takeout style Chinese in the area, and while they weren't the best I've had in Orlando, they were pretty great. They had good portions, good prices and good food. We had no complaints. A year or so later, another NY style Chinese restaurant opened - this one even closer to our home - and they delivered. For no particular reason other than it being slightly more convenient, that new place became our "go-to" for Chinese takeout and delivery. But that didn't mean I had forgotten about Bamboo Wok. I still had fond memories of them and their food - so I decided to grab some takeout for lunch yesterday. Everything about the restaurant was exactly how I remembered it. Still only four tables, plain white color scheme with no decorations other than the ubiquitous calendar on the wall. The service was the same too - pleasant, but not exactly friendly. You can probably guess - the lunch specials and prices were the same too. So far, so good. I placed my order, ran to the grocery next door to pick up a few items and returned to find my food waiting for me. Arriving home, I opened my styrofoam container and something seemed not quite right. Ah! They shrunk the portions a tiny bit. Previously, you could get 2, maybe even 3 meals out of a takeout box. Now, 1 1/2 to 2 depending on how hungry you were. That's OK, not a big deal - I didn't really need -that- much food anyways. The disappointments continued though. The food just wasn't as good as it used to be. The Bamboo Wok of old easily earned 4 stars, maybe even 5. Now, the lack of flavor in my pork lo mein left them barely earning a third star. And speaking of leaving - I doubt I'll be back. read more

We absolutely love Bamboo Wok. Our family orders at least a few times a month and haven't once had an issue with it. The food is always fresh and made to order quickly. And the menu has a lot of options so almost anyone can find something they will like. Even when they're busy, it's been 15-20 minutes from order to pick up. read more

Alright I can understand that fast food Chinese won't ever be amazing or anything, but at least get the food out in a timely manner. The other night I was sick and wanted some soup to settle my stomach so I ran over to Bamboo Wok and ordered 2 quarts of Wonton thinking it would take a short time to ladle it into a container so I could be on my way and back to bed. There were no other customers or take out orders and it still took almost 15 minutes. I can usually put up with sub par food because it's quick and affordable and at least a little tasty, but in this case it is not any of those. The broth was almost all salt, the wontons were slimy, and there were no vegetables in it at all. I would never recommend this place to anyone even if you live really close like I do. read more

Fast food Chinese is Bamboo Wok's game, but quality and taste certainly are not what they are good at. Fast food Chinese, in my opinion, is never really good anyway, but this place is definitely on list of places not to return to, which is a shame because they are only a few miles from my house. While they may be quick in preparing your food and the cost cheap, I can't imagine their food is healthy of worth the calories. It's not well done, it lacks flavor and the grease is just a bit too much for my liking. Even the "healthy" stuff seems bad for you. Not a place I recommend...but I'll let you be the judge as to whether or not you should give it a whirl. read more

My wife and I were visiting another business in the center and decided to grab lunch here. When I walked in I really did not expect much. The dining room is small and plain and the prices for the lunch specials were very reasonable which is usually a sign that the food would be pretty bad. Wrong! I got the Mongolian beef, which could have been spicier but I have never found it spicy enough for me. It was quite good though and the beef was very tender. I ordered a few years ago a couple of times and it was horrible. I stayed away for 3 years. This is a shame because I live three minutes away and it would be very convenient for me if only the food was decent. Fast forward to last month, we placed an order for some lo mein, beef and broccoli, eggrolls, wonton soup, and it was pretty decent this time. I don't know if they changed owners or changed chefs but they have definitely improved. I would not say it is worth going out of your way to get food from here but not so bad if you're in the area and you want some decent take-out. Side note: we use to order for many years from the Chinese restaurant in the Eastwood shopping center but that went totally downhill last year when they change owners. A little light on the portions but very reasonably priced. The fried rice tasted a little burnt or maybe old oil was re-used, but this place's General Tso's comes out ahead of most other Avalon establishments. The General Tso's chicken was mushy. The fried rice included freezer burned/dried out peas.
