The ornate designs, polished woodwork, elegant corridors, and charming shops all carry a sense of timeless glamour. There is history here, but it never feels dusty--it feels alive. I grabbed a matcha and a sorbet from one of the shops and sat with a view so beautiful it almost didn't feel real. Ocean air, swaying palms, sunlight dancing on the water--one of those rare moments where life feels cinematic. Naturally, I may or may not have left with a souvenir sweatshirt because some memories deserve to be worn and carried home. As a lover of vintage cinema, it was especially magical knowing Some Like It Hot was filmed here. Beach Village at Hotel del Coronado…read more We recently stayed at Beach Village at Hotel del Coronado and had an amazing experience. Both of our rooms (1103 and 1104) were located in the same oceanfront building and featured incredible beachfront patios with fire pits. Being able to sit outside, listen to the waves, and enjoy the ocean views right from our patio was truly special. The rooms themselves were fantastic. Large French doors opened directly to the patio, allowing the ocean air and sound of the surf to flow into the room. The suite layout worked perfectly for our family, with the ability to separate the bedroom from the main living area. The kids were able to sleep comfortably on the fold-out bed in the main area while mom and dad enjoyed a private bedroom. The bathroom was spacious and luxurious, featuring a double vanity, soaking tub, and separate shower. One room included a full kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave, and two refrigerators, while the other had a more traditional hotel room setup. Both were spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. The Beach Village amenities are excellent. There are multiple pools throughout the property, including a larger main pool with a spa, smaller pools located throughout Beach Village, and an adults-only pool for those looking for a quieter experience. There also appear to be a few standalone hot tubs/jacuzzis around the property. Service throughout our stay was outstanding. Every interaction with staff was positive, and we genuinely have no complaints regarding the level of service we received. We love Coronado and always enjoy visiting. The only disappointment was that the ocean water was closed due to the ongoing Tijuana River contamination issues. Obviously, that is not the hotel's fault. However, large stakeholders such as Hotel del Coronado likely have a stronger voice than individual visitors and residents, and continued advocacy for a permanent solution would benefit everyone who enjoys this beautiful coastline. Even with a few maintenance items noted below, this was still a five-star stay and a place we would happily return to. A few suggestions for management: Room 1104: * Dog hair on some furniture * Dishwasher missing components that secure the racks * Patio electrical outlet cover is loose and missing screws; the plate comes off when opening the cover * Left window does not lock properly * Strong spice/food odor in refrigerator * Could not figure out how to get the surround sound system working Room 1103: * Toilet seat should be replaced with a soft-close seat Overall, Beach Village offers an incredible beachfront experience with beautiful accommodations, excellent service, fantastic amenities, and some of the best oceanfront patios we've ever enjoyed. Our room had a roomy bathroom that included a shower and a bathtub, comfy beds with ok pillows (like any other hotel), a large TV, etc... We had a great view of the harbor as well! There is a pool, a restaurant with outdoor seating in front of the harbor, and a lawn for activities. It's really not necessary to valet here because they have their own dedicated parking garage for self-parking. The front desk is friendly and informative. It's a little challenging to figure out where to go to find your room, so listen when they explain the details!

She told me I could come the next day and take a look at other rooms that were available, but we were only there for one more night and we had plans with friends that day. The carpet is disgusting. The couch is so dirty. There were brown stains on the sheets of our bed. Every time the cleaning crew would come in, they would open every single window to the fullest to mask the smell. There's not a restaurant here so you have to go get your food and bring it in. There were dead bugs in the utensil drawers. So we used plastic utensils, and paper plates our whole trip. Our room looked nothing like the lobby. A motel 8 would've been better. Even the pool is sad. We were going to cancel our stay and book somewhere else, but we booked through Expedia and it's a nightmare trying to get a refund through them. Otherwise, we would've left after the first day. When leaving a manager pulled me aside and said he was going to comp one day resort fee for us because of the smell. He didn't have to do that, but it was nice of him. I realize it's the Del and things would be more than normal but everything was just average and didn't have the same charm the Del is known for. We will not be returning to the Del.
