    Best I've ever had.

I know I've already reviewed this delicious pancake palace, but they are just that phenomenally tasty. Also I 4 got to tell you about outdoor seating.

I had breakfast here a few weeks back. I ordered the small breakfast with cheesy scrambled eggs, with a side of bacon, house potatoes, and toast for $13 plus tax. They offer a decent size portion. The scrambled eggs were indeed cheesy and tasted pretty good. The problem was that the potatoes were also cheesy, which I was unaware of when I ordered. Both the eggs and potatoes came with a lot of cheese. It was just too much cheese having It on both I nibbled on the potatoes, the best I could, without the cheese. I left the majority. The bacon was good, but it was overdone so it didn't offer a good chew, just a crisp snap or crunch. The wheat toast I ordered was lightly toasted and heavily buttered. I would recommend the butter be served on the side, so one can control how much they want on the toast, or none at all. The hospitality was very cordial and welcoming. The eatery offers breakfast and lunch and specializes in pancakes and waffles, but I d here they also make mean burgers. There's inside and outside seating available.

Cherries & Batter Breakfast Cafe is a newly opened eatery in the Robinson Plaza of the Hillcrest neighborhood. It took over a corner suite where a French bistro closed over a year ago. There were some dedicated diagonal parking spots for the plaza businesses, but this has to be one of the narrowest lots I have encountered in all of SD. Someone did a poor job of optimizing the spaces which should be redone. There was some outdoor sidewalk seating on the west facing side of the suite to supplement the inside dining area that could seat a few dozen customers. The service counter was to the right as you walked in. After placing an order, a numbered placard was given to take to a table so a worker could find your party later to deliver the food/drink. A little over half of the menu was breakfast offerings and then the rest was lunch fare like burgers, sandwiches, quesadillas, and salads. The layout of the menu sheet was different than that of the screens behind the counter which prominently displayed pancakes, french toast, and waffles. Those items seemed to represent the essence of their business name. I chose one of the four Breakfast Plates that was made up of pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. A cup of regular syrup was provided on the side for the pancakes. You could get real maple syrup and/or other toppings for a surcharge. The scrambled eggs were standard while the three bacon slices were extra crispy. The two pancakes were fluffy and dusted with powdered sugar. The syrup I applied was sufficient as I didn't need a fruit compote as a topping. One of the workers (owner?) checked up on me multiple times to see if I needed anything. I gave a four star rating for the price and quality of my order at Cherries & Batter Breakfast Cafe.

We walked in and took menus to a table so we could decide what to order. I chose the Breakfast Scramble and my love chose the French Toast. The food was tasty and prepared quickly. We each enjoyed our meals. Service is friendly and efficient. Would come again.

    This is their breakfast scramble!

Me and the family were looking for something new in San Diego. We found this spot! The food was amazing! The Host was making sure to check on us to make sure we were okay. The ambiance was beautiful. It was very California if you know what I mean. If you are in the area go check it out.

This place is like fast food breakfast. You order at the counter, big open kitchen to see them prepping meals, everything comes out in 5 minutes. I got the walnut banana pancakes with syrup. The syrup was not maple syrup, it was very synthetic and buttery. The walnuts were raw and whole inside the pancakes, which was very strange. The pancakes itself had ok flavor. The amount of syrup they gave was about 1 tablespoon, so not enough for all the pancakes. My husband got chicken and waffles and was alarmed at home quickly the food came out and if they reheated the chicken. In addition, we were charged an extra fee for using a card, notice of which was not posted anywhere. When we brought it to their attention they barely acknowledged it and did not refund us. The tables were all damaged which was strange since the place opened not that long ago. I was very disappointed with the place because I was hoping for a new, good breakfast place in Hillcrest. I won't be back.

I devoured half my plate before I remember to take a photo!

This place was so delicious. The service was wonderful. Coffee and food was on point. Don't sleep on this place!

    Soft opening

Cherries and Batter delivered such a welcoming experience during their soft opening. The moment I walked in, the team greeted me with genuine warmth and made me feel right at home. The food was delicious and full of flavor, and the coffee was rich and smooth. I ordered the Huge Breakfast Number One along with an Espresso Mexicano, and both were outstanding. This place already feels like a spot that will become a favorite!

Scrumptious and filling! Had breakfast but I liked the amount of options for lunch as well. You order from the counter, grab a seat and they serve you at your table which was quick and easy. The restaurant is spacious and open with a view of the kitchen. The only negative critique is you'll be presented with a tip/gratuity menu after paying before you even sit down to eat.

Side of hash browns (good for sharing, but I didn't (; ) Chorizo burrito, chicken and waffles.

The food was fantastic, once again. This is the second time my mom and I got food here within the past two weeks. It's our new favorite spot! The service was phenomenal, you just can't beat the service of a family running a restaurant together! I love the atmosphere there, its very relaxed. I can't leave more than one review on Google so here's my second one! Fair prices, great portions, spectacular taste, originality, lovely service and family vibes all in one. See you there

Overpriced breakfast that tasted just blah. The inside looks cheap and run down with paint peeling off of the tables, chairs that woble.

Cherry pancakes were good, but the side bacon was obviously microwaved. Disappointed I paid $5 for microwaved bacon.

There's a little patio area to the right, and if you have a large group, they ask you to move to the side. They take your order. Then, when you go sit down, the food comes out about five or so minutes later! WOW! I ordered buttermilk pancakes and requested a half order (3) because I thought the pancakes would be massive. They weren't! I was surprised by that. I recommend a full order (6) for anyone who has a big American appetite. I thought the pancakes would be the star of the show, but you know what surprised me? THE BACON AND SAUSAGE! The sausage links were sooooooo good. The bacon was thick and absolutely delicious. Our five-year-old got the strawberry patch waffle and that was super tasty! My husband's apple pancake was yummy. It's enough for two (or even three people)! Overall, this was a great breakfast restaurant and perfect for families. I'd come back!

We went for breakfast on my boyfriend's birthday and it was the highlight of our day so unfortunately nothing else compared the rest of the day The donuts came out first and made us speechless! The crust perfectly protects the light and fluffy inside and holds the maple icing beautifully! The bacon is crunchy and crispy and the perfect complimentary salty crunch to the soft warm dough. It's a unique mouth feel and you want to eat all 3. I recommend ordering them last The caramelized brie and braised duck skillet hash was so unique and delicious, we had never had something like that before. The meat was juicy and melted in your mouth with the brie and soft scrambled eggs. The bread was toasted a crisp golden brown and was the perfect vehicle for the hash. They came with a side which wow THE CRISPY POTATOES OMG they were one of our favorite bites. So herbaceous and topped with coarse flakey salt for a tasty balanced bite. By time we got to the french toast logs I was ready to tap out, but boy momma didn't raise no quitter and my man knows that applies to him as well so we did what we had to do. They're extremely dense, thick, and very filling so I would split with at least one other person. I slathered them bad larry's in whatever magical whipped butter they gave us and got to work. I had to be pried away from the plate and table and airlifted home because of how full I was, but I couldn't stop eating it. We had leftovers and they heated up decently, as well as the donuts! Neither got soggy from refrigeration or microwaving, so that was impressive!
