I had breakfast here a few weeks back. I ordered the small breakfast with cheesy scrambled eggs, with a side of bacon, house potatoes, and toast for $13 plus tax. They offer a decent size portion. The scrambled eggs were indeed cheesy and tasted pretty good. The problem was that the potatoes were also cheesy, which I was unaware of when I ordered. Both the eggs and potatoes came with a lot of cheese. It was just too much cheese having It on both I nibbled on the potatoes, the best I could, without the cheese. I left the majority. The bacon was good, but it was overdone so it didn't offer a good chew, just a crisp snap or crunch. The wheat toast I ordered was lightly toasted and heavily buttered. I would recommend the butter be served on the side, so one can control how much they want on the toast, or none at all. The hospitality was very cordial and welcoming. The eatery offers breakfast and lunch and specializes in pancakes and waffles, but I d here they also make mean burgers. There's inside and outside seating available.

Best I've ever had.

I know I've already reviewed this delicious pancake palace, but they are just that phenomenally tasty. Also I 4 got to tell you about outdoor seating.

Cherries & Batter Breakfast Cafe is a newly opened eatery in the Robinson Plaza of the Hillcrest neighborhood. It took over a corner suite where a French bistro closed over a year ago. There were some dedicated diagonal parking spots for the plaza businesses, but this has to be one of the narrowest lots I have encountered in all of SD. Someone did a poor job of optimizing the spaces which should be redone. There was some outdoor sidewalk seating on the west facing side of the suite to supplement the inside dining area that could seat a few dozen customers. The service counter was to the right as you walked in. After placing an order, a numbered placard was given to take to a table so a worker could find your party later to deliver the food/drink. A little over half of the menu was breakfast offerings and then the rest was lunch fare like burgers, sandwiches, quesadillas, and salads. The layout of the menu sheet was different than that of the screens behind the counter which prominently displayed pancakes, french toast, and waffles. Those items seemed to represent the essence of their business name. I chose one of the four Breakfast Plates that was made up of pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. A cup of regular syrup was provided on the side for the pancakes. You could get real maple syrup and/or other toppings for a surcharge. The scrambled eggs were standard while the three bacon slices were extra crispy. The two pancakes were fluffy and dusted with powdered sugar. The syrup I applied was sufficient as I didn't need a fruit compote as a topping. One of the workers (owner?) checked up on me multiple times to see if I needed anything. I gave a four star rating for the price and quality of my order at Cherries & Batter Breakfast Cafe.

Huge Breakfast #1, Matcha cold brew coffee, and Sausage Scramble

Scrumptious and filling! Had breakfast but I liked the amount of options for lunch as well. You order from the counter, grab a seat and they serve you at your table which was quick and easy. The restaurant is spacious and open with a view of the kitchen. The only negative critique is you'll be presented with a tip/gratuity menu after paying before you even sit down to eat.

Side of hash browns (good for sharing, but I didn't (; ) Chorizo burrito, chicken and waffles.

The food was fantastic, once again. This is the second time my mom and I got food here within the past two weeks. It's our new favorite spot! The service was phenomenal, you just can't beat the service of a family running a restaurant together! I love the atmosphere there, its very relaxed. I can't leave more than one review on Google so here's my second one! Fair prices, great portions, spectacular taste, originality, lovely service and family vibes all in one. See you there

Soft opening

Cherries and Batter delivered such a welcoming experience during their soft opening. The moment I walked in, the team greeted me with genuine warmth and made me feel right at home. The food was delicious and full of flavor, and the coffee was rich and smooth. I ordered the Huge Breakfast Number One along with an Espresso Mexicano, and both were outstanding. This place already feels like a spot that will become a favorite!

Veggie breakfast scrambled eggs

The food was great! Staff was super friendly. But they should add more art on the walls or include additional decor. The restaurant is clean but a bit plain. 10/10 would recommend if you're looking for a simple spot for a great breakfast

Cherry pancakes were good, but the side bacon was obviously microwaved. Disappointed I paid $5 for microwaved bacon.

We were able to get seated right away during prime Sunday brunch, which was a pleasant surprise since we didn't have reservations. Our waitress wasn't as friendly seeing as we were dining with kids and I informed her this was our first time and I was hoping she would be more helpful. The food came out pretty fast. I ordered the Benedict. My kids ordered pancakes that they could make, and we also had a side of bacon, and my husband had a traditional breakfast with pancakes and bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese. My Benedict's were just OK. I enjoyed the freshness of the salmon, but the croissant that they used for the Benedict's were too soft and got soggy. My kids really didn't eat the pancakes. They played mostly with it and my husband did enjoy his scrambled eggs with cheese But the pancakes we had the chefs made in the back were very thick not fluffy. Overall, the kids had a good time, but they didn't really eat the pancakes so for the amount of money we paid for it. It went to waste. I tasted the pancakes they made, and it was fine but I guess my kids were interested in cooking more than eating that day. Parking is bad anywhere really in downtown San Diego parking is bad but what I will say to finish off the review as I didn't appreciate not being informed of additional cost. I requested that the waitress bring out sugar-free syrup for my kids pancakes and she said OK brought out the syrup and when I saw the bill I saw that there was almost a four dollar charge for a small side of sugar-free syrup for that amount of money I could've purchased a whole bottle but even more so if you charge an additional fee for sugar-free syrup that needs to be disclosed to your customers I probably still would've got it because my kids can't take a whole lot of sugar, but it would've been nice to know, considering the cost. This was probably a one and done for us. There's so many other places in San Diego we'll try for brunch next time we're there.

For food we ordered the BBQ jackfruit sandwich with fries and Egg roll burger with brussel sprouts on the side. Both were absolutely phenomenal, we could not pick a favorite! I am a lifelong vegetarian but my boyfriend eats and enjoys meat and we were both blown away by the food here! Meat eaters and vegans alike will all love this place:) We capped the night off with a Gloom coil and Iron bell! Both were fantastic but we decided that the Iron Bell was the best drink of the night in both of our opinions (I would recommend it to anyone who goes). Kindred is a great weekly date night spot with fun drinks and fantastic (and relatively well priced) food!

Since the carnitas was an add-on, I wasn't sure what to expect on the portion but they were quite generous. Great place for breakfast or lunch on Sunday if you're also looking to catch a game!

She made sure my Corona Non-Alcoholic beer arrived right on time every time, and her warm energy added a lot to the overall experience. The skillet is, without question, one of the most skillfully executed brunch dishes I've had in San Diego. Every component felt thoughtfully prepared and well balanced. The potatoes were flavorful and satisfying, the shrimp were large and succulent, and the eggs over easy were cooked perfectly, adding richness to each bite. The combination of cheese, vegetables, and chipotle hollandaise brought everything together with bold flavor without overwhelming the dish. Beyond the food, the restaurant is clean, spacious, and welcoming. It works equally well for a family brunch, a relaxed meal with friends, or even catching a game. The music also added a great touch to the atmosphere.

It's got the decor, chairs, and art to match. Jessica was our server and she was amazing! She gave us lots of suggestions on what to try and what is on the menu since it was my first time here. She recommended the bloody Mary flight so did grab that to try! We also ordered the biscuits and gravy to share and orange juice. The portions are so large! So I am glad we decided to share the biscuits and gravy but let me run down each thing. Bloody Mary Flight: Honestly every single one was amazing. My favorite was definitely the pickle Mary! Everything tasted so delicious and was garnished beautifully. Well worth the 22 dollars. Biscuits and Gravy: Absolute perfection of comfort food. The biscuits were so fluffy and well seasoned. The gravy was also soooo good, just like my mom makes. The sausage in it was also cooked so well and juicy. I've never tried mashed potatoes with the biscuits and gravy but it worked very well! Orange Juice: Not a fan really, not pulpy enough and I wasn't a fan of the flavor. Overall this is definitely a must visit! I will definitely be back.

The food was amazing! In particular, I enjoyed the fried chicken and waffle tower and their roasted chicken hash. I was surprised they didn't include a side of butter along with their biscuits, but I'll probably just ask for it next time. One important thing to note is that their dishes are HUGE. All 6 of us had our own dishes, but I would highly highly recommend ordering a couple dishes and sharing it family style if you're dining with a group. One note I did have about Hash House is how overstimulating the menu is lol. The menu had a lot of clashing fonts, colors, and clip art images, it made it hard to digest the menu. I didn't even notice some menu offerings because of how busy the menu was. Also, our waitress did initially charge us for 6 coffees, even though we only had 3. It was a good thing we caught that error on the receipt before paying. Overall, the food at Hash House is definitely worth coming back for.
