I've been going to Cherry's Salon for almost a year now for my hair and make up needs. I have to say that everyone there is really amazing with all things beauty. Tita Cherry has taken care of me this past year for hair and make up during my photo shoots and press events. There's never a stray hair in sight!! I also had the privilege of getting a balayage this past weekend. I was greeted by Ate Maridel & Ate Summer who took care of me the whole time I was there. My hair was dry and brittle and it needed some TLC. Ate Summer explained how I can deep condition my hair to keep it healthy. I showed them a picture of exactly the color I wanted, I didn't want anything fancy, just something lighter than my dark brown hair. So we opted for a brown balayage with some highlights toward the bottom. The end result was WOW!! I can't get enough of how much I love my hair, I've been getting compliments at the event I had later that day. Even my mom wants the same hair! It has taken me over 10 years to decide having my brows tattooed. I finally did it with Cherry. She immediately sensed my nerves and she was so kind and calmed me down. She took her time prepping the ink making surenit is just the right tint for me. She knew the pain that comes with it, so she regularly checked if i was ok and if i needed a breather to get my "pain defense" recharged. She did a great job. Just wanted to add that i am very very particular with my hair and only get them done once a year and only cherry does it. Went in for a haircut today. Cherry cut my hair. Although the outcome was great, the haircut itself was painful. She brushed my hair, which had product in it, and every time she stroke my hair with the brush -- it would pull my hair AND neck back. Talk about severe whiplash I'm gonna face in the morning. Note there's 3 of us. In general, we like her and we are definitely coming back. But when I went back for my 2nd and 3rd time, Cherry did my hair. I I thought maybe it was just a bad day of Cherry, so I went back a 3rd time. I regret going to her. I've been going to Cherry for my hair and make-up needs since 2007. She was the one who did the hair and make-up of my bridal party in 2010. I trust NO ONE to do my make-up but her. I trust NO ONE but her to cut and style my hair. Full disclosure: maybe twice since I've met her, I've gone to other stylists to cut my hair...stylists who are closer to where I live (I drive close to an hour to her salon). Ha! Each time I did, I would kick myself in the rear for trying someone else. I never did that again. I would spend my day-off traveling 33 miles, one-way, just to see her. I trust her completely. It's been many many many years since I've came to this place. Came here many years ago with a friend to get my eye brows waxed for the first time. The place looked cool but workers were kind of all over the place. We went towards the back end of the salon to get our eye brows waxed. I'd have to say I've never been to a place that humiliates you infront of many people not just people surrounding you but like HEY LOOK AT THIS BITCHES EYES BROWS! I got my wedding party done in this salon. My bridesmaids looked so much older with 80s hairstyles, but we adjusted it after we left. Cherry was the one who did mine and it was not bad, but it wasnt great either. But the main reason that led me to give this place only 1 star was because Cherry was not very nice. So today I went back to get my roots retouched for my highlights and toner for color, because my highlights were priactically white. According to their website it is $50 for a retouch and $40 for cellophane toner. Cherry does my roots and a new girl adds the color. After my hair is rinsed, my hair looks the exact same. So they begin to converse among themselves, the new girl shows me the color. I confirm yes, that is what I want. Anyways, it comes out the color I wanted. Total comes out to $145, I explain I didnt come in for highlights I came in for a retouch. Then she says $135! I explain well initially when I came in to get highlights a cut and toner I was only charged $90 by Alicia... Then Cherry starts sounding like a broken record thats their set price so on and so on.She says she had no idea why Alicia charged me that, and I should request her next time... IT SAYS SO ON THE WEBSITE!! OMG this woman is impossible! If you do decide to go here, make sure u ask for the price before getting anything done. I'm never going to the stupid place again! *This review is for Cherry the salon owner* I've been here twice. The first time was an ok experience and I liked the short haircut I got. BUT, the second time around was a completely different story. I purposely grew out my hair so I can get a long angled bob. I knew she knows how to cut this style because she cut one of the worker's hair similar to what i want. While she was cutting my hair, she was talking about all her travels and all the celebrities she knew and blah blah blah. The was so much blah blah that, she cut my looking like Dora. And she even said it herself, "you look like Dora, I'm going to cut your bangs so your hair won't look like hers." I didn't want my bangs cut, and I definitely didn't want a Dora haircut. I was so upset. She could've concentrated on cutting my hair instead of talking. I agree with one of the yelpers who said that Cherry should give the regular people the same treatment as her celebrity friends. I've always left cherry satisfied with whatever I had done. I've gone here to get an updo for my HS formal a few years ago and they did an excellent job. More recently I've gotten a couple cuts from the stylist Summer and I loved it! The only thing I don't like is their price..$30 for any kind of cut. That's more resonable than other places, but I just sigh when I have to pay that much for a trim. Note: I'm pretty cheap though haha. read more

Cherry's Salon is the bomb! Curly hair is both a blessing and a curse and the reality is not every hair stylist can cut it properly. When my current curly hair cutting specialist moved away I was forced to look for a new person and lucky for me I found Cherry on Yelp. Besides being friendly and personable she can really cut hair. Most importantly she's a good listener. Sometimes when I'm explaining to a stylist how I need my hair cut it goes in one ear and out the other. But not Cherry. She really listened to what I was saying and she didn't get defensive when I made suggestions or asked her to tweak the length in certain areas. I'm not a certified hair stylist but when I was in college I used to get my hair cut at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Westwood. The Sassoon instructors loved my curly hair because it gave their students a good curly hair challenge. In the process of going to Sassoon I learned a lot about hair cutting. I mentioned Sassoon to Cherry and it turns out she's a graduate of the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica. That really sealed the deal. Her knowledge of the Sassoon principals of combining graduation and layering gave me a great haircut and preserved my curls. I just came from Cherry's Salon earlier today and I must say how much I love this salon. I made an appointment for my hair rebonding (japanese) at 1:30 in the afternoon. I arrived at 1:15 because even though I'm Filipino, I try to come in earlier than my appointment to prove the whole cliche that Filipinos are always fashionably late. Well, as I came in, I can see that there are other clients waiting to be helped as well. I realized then that Cherry's Salon is a well known salon in the community because you can see that they are always busy and the interior design of the salon is chic and modern. It is the type of salon that I love going to because you know that they have a good eye for things. It is not a quiet salon either, it is lively with their music and they also have televisions. I was not seated into a station until 2:00 but I was informed as I came in that there were clients and that I would have to wait and I had no problem with that. If you are planning to have your hair done and you know the process is long, you should have your schedule free from errands. So, waiting was not a problem for me and I kept myself busy with my books. I came prepared because coming into hair salons you never know how busy they are. The hair stylist that helped me was Sol and she is Cherry's sister. They are both VERY lovely women and although I had my doubts about having my hair rebonded, Sol really made me feel comfortable and even informed me from the beginning that with the high lights in my hair the process would be different. I enjoyed the experience at Cherry's Salon and I am happy that my auntie had recommended me here. It is difficult to trust your hair to anyone as we all know, hair is an important aspect in a woman's beauty. The five hours I was with Sol, I enjoyed talking and laughing with her. They are all so friendly and really take care of you. I can call Sol like my ateh now because she is very family oriented and I love that about this salon. Also, shampoo and conditioning my hair was very relaxing. I have now told my own mom and titas and lolas to come in and have their hair done at Cherry's Salon. My first visit won't be my last. I actually plan to come in to have my hair cellofaned in a week. On a side note, I noticed Cherry cuts/styles hair fast, but not in a hurry and I just want you to get out fast, but I mean she just knows what she is doing and is efficient with her time. Also, they are a clean salon and I value that. I don't like seeing hair salons looking messy. If Cherry wasn't working on a client, she was cleaning and keeping her salon in good condition. Had a not so great experience at Cherry's salon this past weekend. Booked an appointment to get a haircut, but the day of my appointment Summer insisted that I also get a retouch. I politely refused because i just really came for a trim. After so many tries I was convinced by her. I trusted her because we've gone to this salon a few times. I have a balayage and my base color is black since it's my natural hair color. However, after rinsing the dye I noticed that the color does not match my balayage and it has a red tone to it. I ignored it then and thought it was just the lighting inside the salon. When i got to my car and looked at my hair in the mirror i was so disappointed because it doesn't look right. A section of my hair was reddish brown and half was my balayage. She should've been more careful with mixing the colors and assess thoroughly if it does actually match the hair. Today i got a re-touch of my hair color. And another incredible job is done! This is my 4th session with her and every 6 months i come back to do retouch and the color keeps getting ligther l, which is perfect for summer looks.
