Our favorite restaurant in Naples! Between the extremely friendly, kind and helpful owners and waitstaff, and the delicious authentic French food, Chez Boet is a MUST to visit if you find yourself in Naples. The restaurant is cozy and intimate, and feels as if you are guests in someone's dining room. Because it is a small space, you instantly feel the attentiveness and personal service from the wait staff. In fact, when I went to Chez Boet earlier this month, the bartender (aka Owner) not only made me a drink that was off-menu but also came personally to our table to check-in on how it was afterwards - it was amazing! While here, my boyfriend and I ate a special appetizer of seared foie gras accompanied by a glass of sauternes, the Provencal pink gulf shrimp, seafood tagine and creme brulee. Everything was absolutely delicious. When we left the restaurant, we noticed a packed Bleu Provence across the street. We were saddened by the thought that Bleu Provence may be keeping potential diners from experiencing Chez Boet. Even glancing at Bleu Provence's menu, it seemed to cater more to a mass audience and so paled in comparison to the menu at Chez Boet. In contrast, it is clear that Chez Boet cares more about providing an elegant first class dining experience than catering to a wider group more concerned with being seen at a "fancy" restaurant. This might just be the most homey and hospitable restaurant in the Naples area. The food is tasty and creative but not extravagantly so. Menu has a lot of "standbys" but also daily special offerings. The decor is fresh and authentic continental. Everything about this place screams genuine. Good luck finding better hosts than Phillipe and Lisa Boët! Excellent food and friendly service! I ordered the special which was a casserole dish layered with duck, potato and carrot, caramelized onion and Parmesan cheese. C'est magnifique! My parents had amazing moules et frites which were divine when dipped in a rouille sauce. The owners are a lovely couple from Paris and the ambiance is charming. Quite possibly the most authentic French dining experience I have had outside of France. All the good and none of the bad. Ambience nearly equivalent to a Parisian bistro...all the liveliness, but with added warmth. This was really a mixed experience for us. We have dined in many Naples restaurants. We had never dined at Chez Boet and really looked forward to our dinner tonight. I ordered Canard Roti, half duck w orange and liqueur sauce. I was presented with a duck leg and thigh and another duck leg, not a half duck. I was disappointed and made that clear to our server. As we were leaving the owner approached us and asked how our meal was and I explained our issue... She said that doesn't make sense I'll need to speak with our purveyor as we rely on them to deliver the correct products!!! Please!!! Everything about this restaurant was so authentically French - from the French speaking waiters, to the French couple that owns the restaurant, to the traditional French bistro food offerings! The food is classic French bistro cuisine with favorites like escargot, steak frites, bouillabaisse and duck l'orange. The also had a nice wine list that included both French and worldly reds and whites. One of the other things that I liked about the wine list is that it listed wines by price range and had about eight whites and eight reds all for under 40 dollars. I think the haute cuisine reputation - delicate recipes in small portions at high prices - often dominates Americans' perceptions of French cooking. Chez Boet will totally rearrange your attitude about French food, leaving you well satiated. Lisa and Phillippe Boet are doing French comfort food. Some bio info lets the diners know that Lisa and Phillippe honed their culinary skills in the French countryside preparing classic French dishes for family and friends. It's those recipes offered nightly at Chez Boet. Phillippe mans the bar, and he shakes a masterful classic martini. The wine list is robust but not pretentious. Alas, since the missus doesn't drink, I'm always relegated to the by-the-glass offferings. I selected a Pinot Noir, which was just right for the roast duck about to follow. Whenever visiting a restaurant for the first time, I gravitate toward the proclaimed signature dishes and menu standards. I figure it's those dishes they do best, so if they fail short of expectation, I don't return for another plate of disappointment. Playing to that theme, I chose the Canard Roti a l'Orange, and Chez Boet did not disappoint. My lady, who eats chicken at Chinese restaurants, chicken at Mexican restaurants, chicken at Italian restaurants, and chicken at American restaurants, decided she was having the evening special, which featured . . . voila! Chicken! I heard no complaints from the other side of the table regarding her chicken. As for my Duck l'Orange, it was perfect. The skin had the right amount of crispiness, the flesh was moist, and the sauce and seasonings wrapped the whole dish into a perfect plate of French hominess. The tab for my martini and wine, salads, entrees, desserts, coffee and gratuity came to about $160 . . . not bad at all. My wife is anxious to return for the Chicken Tagine, and the Bouillabaisse is calling my name. Bon appetit! read more

We have eaten at Chez Boet for the past several years. In the past, it has always been very good. This time was no exception. We shared their escargot and the endive salad. The escargot was good but the salad was a bit too bland. Their lentil salad is much better. We both had their roast duck with potatoes and a vegetable. Their duck is really good. The reason for the three stars was because of their staff. When we arrived we were seated at a table by the window. After several minutes our server came by and told us we had to leave by a certain time for the next reservation for this table. She said we could move to a different table if we wanted. Why didn't the maitre d tell us this when we arrived. Don't they know when their next reservation is scheduled for a table by the window?Also, one of the staff members kept going behind our table to get candles off a tray on the floor to put on the tables. Once or twice is fine but not four or five times. Take the tray and do it somewhere else. It became very annoying. Then, while we were eating, the staff was putting a table and chairs next to our table. And, a few minutes later, the staff was carrying a large table (right past our table) outside on the patio. Do this before patrons come into your restaurant. Lastly, we heard a couple of staff members discussing a problem with a wine not being ordered, a problem with someone's reservation, etc. We like this restaurant because of their food but we are thinking twice about going back because of our unpleasant experience. Four of us had dinner at Chez Boet, Feb. 28th. First time for all of us. We were on time. Many tables were open. We were seated at rear of restaurant by storage area. Unacceptable. We were moved. Room became very noisey. My appetizer of mussels was bland, no real taste. Our waiter handled six tables...service was slow. Initial bread served to us was very small, so I did not have enough bread to soak up sauce. The main course was served to three of us...the fourth dinner took five mins. extra to deliver. When we complained to the maitre'd we were told the establishment would "make the delay up to us". My chicken dish was not completely cooked...I complained to the waiter.. No adjustment to the bill was made. Needless to say, We are not returning. read more

I could not be more horrified by my experience tonight. While my family and I have long loved this restaurant we had an offensive experience tonight. The restaurant staff from cooks to waitresses to everyone in between is not wearing masks. Not only are the staff members not masked, but the owner and hostess is not allowing members to wear masks. According to her, the restaurant clientele is of the sort that there is no need to worry about the pandemic there. If you're not comfortable having your food cooked and served to you by people who won't wear masks, then I'd advise making reservations elsewhere. What's more offensive is that I spoke with the owner earlier in the day to confirm we'd have a seat outside and I explained that we were being cautious about eating out due to the pandemic, and she never mentioned this. Absolutely horrifying and offensive situation and one that restaurant patrons and restaurant staff should not be put in. read more

We had a wonderful dinner at Chez Boet. It is a warm, charming restaurant with a lively spirit. Our waiter was exceptional and both owners made us feel special. The food was outstanding. We all had the rack of lamb which was recommended by the waiter. It did not disappoint. The scalloped potatoes and crisp tender vegetables were equally as delicious. Well, it was a prix fixe menu for the Reveillon dinner. You should never expect excellence, so be it. Our reservation was made for 10pm and we had to wait another 10-15 min to be seated. It was very crowded. For the appetizers they ran out of the crab and we were left out with the other 2 choices. We opted for the lobster bisque. It was ok. Just ok. The salad as second course was so so. They should have used a better sauce but it was very plain. As for main course we were in doubt but both opted for the british Beef Wellington which was good but, The pastry was only on top of the meat when it should be wrapping it up. I felt like it was a cheap move from the restaurant. The meat was soft but missed something (apart from the pastry). The sides were plain boring. Boiled vegetables... As for dessert, they ran out of pears, so again, only 2 choices left. The wine list is good. The crowd was aged 60+ and I wonder if it was like this everywhere in the city but since it's Naples, who cares! It didn't bother us. The party propers were a nice gesture. The espresso was terrible. No crema, over roasted beans. They should Consider changing the vendor. I think it is a charming place that can be tried again. The service was outstanding. read more

Chez Boet is a gem in a city that is overcrowded with the typical Italian/grouper/meat and potatoes that dominates the demographic of the Naples area. (really, how much grouper can one eat?). We came here on our honeymoon and loved the romantic ambiance of the restauarant. From the moment we walked in, we were immediately seated even though we were 30 minutes early for our reservation. This place served as two important lessons in one mediocre eating experience: 1) Do not trust Yelp rating based on only 2-3 reviews...wait until people other than relatives/friends/employees have a chance to weigh in 2) Read the menu very carefully -- just because something is called a tagine, do not jump to a conclusion that you will be getting a Morrocan stew prepared in a tagine. I totally missed this part of the menu: "These steamed Moroccan stews are oven-simmered with herbs, spices and vegetables and served in an individual pottery dish with couscous", which would have helped me not to expect a tagine. And now to the review. We ate at the Bamboo Cafe on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty. We also had the duck l'orange, which was cooked pretty perfectly with crispy skin, the only downside was that there was too much orange sauce which was too sweet. Overall, this place was quite mediocre and does not warrant a second visit. If you want French food in Naples, I would recommend Escargot 42 (fancy, expensive) or Cafe Normandie (more casual, less expensive) read more

This is a true authentic French Gem in Naples. It's true simple, classy French. The ambiance is less flashy than it's competition but yet inviting and lovely, it's just perfect! Great ambiance and design. The food it classic French and the wine list is changing often to meet the needs of patrons and the owner, Philippe (from Paris) finds the best wines to match his menu at the time. Service is great! The owners are very accommodating and really great people, they are there and very involved. One of my favorite things about the menu is that they put a "little logo" where there IS gluten in a dish, as opposed to logos when the dish IS GF. Opposite of most restaurants and this shows that almost the entire menu is GF! All local grown items on the menu! I was one happy girl! And the flour-less chocolate warm cake (small) is GF and yum! I really wanted to like this restaurant, however there were some clear misses. I ordered the special that was Beef Wellington that came with scallop potatoes that were quite tasty and steamed veggies that were quite bland. The Beef Wellington was such a disappointment, with soggy puff pastry and under seasoned beef. My husband ordered the duck, that again was very under seasoned and the skin was somewhat soggy. Lastly, we wanted to finish with a really good creme brûlée, yet the custard was hot and slightly curdled. Needless to say, we will not be visiting this restaurant again. read more

We found this place by accident one day and it took us a couple of weeks to get back there for dinner. WOW! The foie gras appetizer was melt in the mouth delicious and the bouillabaisse special was simply terrific. We also had both the lamb tangine, which was brilliantly seasoned and just plain magnificent, and the seafood tangine, which was a subtle and appealing blend of tastes and textures. Both the Salade Boët and the rebochon salad were fresh and invigorating. Don't be put off by the Crayton Cove location, just get there. It's not cheap but it is worth every penny. Next time maybe we'll just have the desserts, for which we were just didn't have room. read more

Homestyle authentic French food at its best! Owners Liza and Philippe Boét prepare and present food that more than satisfies. Their Red Snapper en Papillote was delicious, the Beef Bourguignon is to die for and the Kobe Burger is amazing. The children's menu is wonderful as well and as diverse in offerings at that of the main menu. Our nine year old daughter enjoyed a Kobe Burger, passing on shellfish and fresh salmon or chicken. She liked the Beef Bourguignon that Mom had so much, we had to get her a smaller version for her. Desserts amaze as well. You will not be disappointed here. Naples is blessed to have so many fine French restaurants, including Bleu Provence across the street. We have dined at both and Chez Boét is our new favorite. Simply delicious! read more

We went here to celebrate my husband's birthday. What a pleasure! The owner greeted us and gave us one of the best tables since he knew it was a birthday celebration. It was a Sunday night, but there were still quite a few full tables. We felt like the entire staff cared about us and kept checking in on us. The escargot was perfect. French onion soup was made the way it is supposed to be if you've ever been to France. Lamb tagine was tender. The Napoleon dessert was the best I've had in the U.S. If you've ever been to Europe and had desserts there you'd know what I mean. Homemade and delicious. Chez Boet is outstanding. The service is excellent, friendly, and the atmosphere is wonderful. The food is phenomenal - the french onion soup is unique (made with port and merlot - you can really taste it) and not too salty (a common flaw). The braised beef was fantastic. NO MASKS - NO WARNING. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is very good and the service is good. But, outweighing those fine qualities is that all the staff do not wear masks - a decision by the owner such that you will have a waiter and/or server hovering two feet above you - and of course above others as they move about the restaurant. When questioned, the owner, a Frenchman, became indignant saying he was an entrepreneur and under the law masks were not required and he could do as he wished. When I told him that in all the other Naples restaurants I visited, staff wore masks and that, since he was an outlier, maybe he should give notice and post on his website that his staff didn't wear masks and that people calling for reservations should be told the same thing, he replied that "all my regular customers know about it and, if the new ones don't like it, they don't have to come." We visited Chez Boet four years ago, and had a fantastic dining experience here. We took a weekend trip to Naples this past weekend and decided to have dinner here again. The food remains authentic and top rate as before, and the service was warm and efficient. All the entrees - lamb tagine, snapper in parchment, and lamb chops - were all delicious. The appetizers and salads could use a little more work, but the french butter spread on warm french bread more than made up for it. The wine list is limited in scope, but sufficiently diverse to please most diners. The quality of the food and the hospitality made this restaurant an exceptional experience. So good and so much fun. Stopped for a light dinner, but got carried away. Escargot, foie gras, two small plate lamb tagines, Napoleon and tart tatine. Glass of champagne and half bottle of medoc. It was all unpretentious and terrific. Owners chatted amiably (it was a slow night and we eat late by Naples standards) and our waiter was a hoot. If we lived here, it would be our go to spot.
