Supporting local businesses. Friendly and kind staff with and a cute ambience. Vietnamese and French inspired and they make a great steak served sizzling for an affordable price. Would much rather come here than go to Outback and their French baguette is tasty as well.

There's a new twist a French-Vietnamese bistro serving both French entrees, appetizers along with Vietnamese rice plates and phở soup quite an extensive menu list to choose from. The best part is their $12.95 lunch special weekdays only from 11 till 2:30 in the afternoon. Can't passed that up a good deal so I came by on a Thursday morning greeted very warmly by the couple who runs this place it was so inviting such a cozy spacious interior a soft lighted French guitar music playing in the background brings out the mood. Looking at the menu I chose phở gà shredded chicken meat with rice noodles and a side dish of fresh bean sprouts/herbs all for the price of $12.95 regular price would been $15.95 and for drinks Thai iced coffee. I was even more surprised when the server brought over a large size bowl of phở gà light fragrant broth enough to serve two people. They would come by and check to see if I need anything else so attentive definitely be back for sure. Don't pay by credit card there's a surcharge added better with cash or debit card which doesn't apply. Ample parking with so few cars at that time of day. Chez Christina is located in a large Jacklin Square can't missed since it's right off Jacklin Road.

Fast, friendly service...cozy ambiance, clean restaurant...food was meh...cube steak was tender but under seasoned lacking the seared high heat flavor that a good cube steak must have...not worth the $20 price tag...mushroom steak came out tough, chewy and again, flavorless...sauce that came with dish had a weird sour taste...not worth the $25..overall steak not good, lacking flavor, will not be back..

It was Valentine's, I wanted to take my wife to a nice French restaurant but one of the reservation failed through, luckily I remembered this place that I took my girlfriend (my wife) 22 years ago. We both remembered this place, we didn't know it's still there after all these years since we never came back after we got married and moved. The Google booking system is amazing, we got our confirmation right away. My wife was happy to come back to our first date years ago. The restaurant is small, plenty of parking spaces, we came early because we went straight after work, we found the parking right away. This is called French VN fusion restaurant, it's kinda like our favorite Le Colonial in SF but closed after 26 years in business. We've been in Paris and tried quite a few restaurant there, we like escargots, steaks and ducks, but we still think the fusion restaurants taste as good or better. The service here is so attentive, pleasant and happy, we liked it right away after all these years. The decor is quite nice IMHO, quite simple and not very pretentious. So, French restaurant the escargots are a must, this place doesn't use the whole snails instead using the out-of-shell meats, with a little bread in a cup, kinda different. The important thing is the tastes, the meat is quite soft and flavorful, we both liked them very much. The bread dipped in the sauce is quite tasty. Everywhere we went, we love crispy calamari, and this place is excellent, the calamari is crispy but the meat is tender, the sauce are just plain tartar and cocktail sauce, they should make their own special sauce for this then it would be better. We finished these in a heartbeat. The salad is included which is nice. The dressing is just right, I think it has a touch of fish sauce in it, very nice. The main course, the #15 and #16 that we can hear people are ordering. we order both because we forgot what we ordered 22 years ago LOL. Actually both sauces are almost tasted the same, but my wife thought her pepper corn sauce tasted better than my Mushroom sauce. My wife likes the hot crunchy bread and butter instead of my red rice. They're both excellent eating with our sauces. The steak is tender and does have texture, it's the sauce that counts. The prices here are quite reasonable. We will come back here again to try different dishes when we're craving for another romantic outing event. It's not just the restaurant, it's how we love each other. When we're in love, everything is romantic and taste great LOL.

Hands-down to the best French Vietnamese cuisine in Milpitas. We visited Chez Christina last week, and we had an outstanding experience. We tried these several dishes: 1. Chicken wing. These chicken wings are so flavorful and not to mention very crispy. 2. Vietnamese beef stew. You can either have bread or pasta or rice. We opted to have it with bread. The stew was so flavorful, but they could put more pieces of meat. Nevertheless it was one of the most delicious Vietnamese beef stew I've ever had. 3. Sizzling beef plate. The steak was served with sausage, pate and fried egg. The steak was marinated with the sauce and it was so delicious. The combination of the steak and the pate dip with the fried egg was beyond delicious. 4. French onion soup. The soup was so delightful. It made a great appetizer. 5. Roasted hen and tomato rice. If you're looking for a delicious roasted chicken, you need to try their signature roasted chicken, it's crispy juicy and for the price you pay, you'll be satisfied. we ended the whole dinner with dessert, which were pandan, jelly drink, or che and flan. My husband loves the panda jelly dessert because it was packed with red beans. we totally recommend Chez Christina if you love French Vietnamese cuisine. Parking is in private lot. Located in Milpitas.

This little French Vietnamese Bistro surprised us with how good the food was. I'd be lying if I said I had high expectations walking in, but everything we ordered had a lot of flavor and good service. This little gem is tucked away in Jacklin Square in Milpitas and has been around for 28+ years. This was our first time trying, but I already want to go back and try their Beef Stew and get the Fish Sauce Wings again! * Crispy Chicken Wings w/ Fish Sauce (highly recommend!) * Steak w/ Mushroom Sauce (highly recommend!) * Stir Fry Beef Cubes w/ Spanish Rice * Grilled Pork in Vermicelli

It was OK. The ambiance inside was super cute and fun, with light music and French Cafe vibes. Service was fine, they tried to keep up the ambiance, with the white table clothes and water refills. The side salad came with the bo ne and was fresh, with Italian dressing in a small bottle. I would have preferred of the bottle was a bit cleaner. The steak was quite over cooked, not really favored for tenderized at all. The sausage was low quality grocery store hot dog. I got my plate with banh mi, and my fiance got his with red rice. The rice was dry but seasoned OK. The baguette was warm and freshly toasted, but you really need to ration how you eat it as it's kind of small. The vietnamese coffee tastes just like the packets you get from Costco, we were amused. We would come back to try their French dishes maybe, but we weren't impressed with their steak plates.

Nice cozy ambiance but a bit slow service. We had to call down the waitress a few times to get their attention on ordering/paying. Food was okay! The portions were medium-sized and the quality was okay too. 3/5

My wife and I manage our health by living on a keto diet and this restaurant catered to our needs beautifully. I had a strange plate of steak, paté, a seared hot-dog masquerading as a sausage. They happily substituted the accompanying bread, rice or fries with an additional salad. My wife had a nice salmon fillet. Vietnamese food is on a spectrum of original native fare to Vietnamese food heavily influenced by French cooking. If you're in the mood for more of a French than Vietnamese experience, this is a great place with reasonable prices. Just the hot-dog served as a sausage seemed strange to me - if I could add half a star, I would.

Food is ok. Service is ok. It's just ok. If you don't live close by, it's not worth going all the way there. Thai iced tea: 3/5. It's ok. Not something I'd order again. Lacking some tea flavor. Combination steak/sausage/pâté/egg with red rice: 3/5. It's ok. Ordered medium rare, came out medium. Steak too thin. Besides the pate, everything seems to be from Costco or Walmart grocery. Did I mention it's just ok? Another tip: never ever sit at the table next to the speaker. You would not have any conversation. Where is it? You will know when you walk by. Stay away.

I wish I had discovered Chez Christina sooner! I tried it for the first time last month, and I've already been back twice. It's a nice cozy spot that never disappoints, with great food and service. My favorite dish here is the Filet Mignon with Bacon and Mushroom Sauce (#20 on the menu) -- it completely exceeded my expectations the first time I tried it, so I've ordered this each time I've come! The flavors are incredible, and the filet mignon is perfectly tender. I also really like the Korean BBQ Beef with Rice (#32 on the menu) and the flavor of the accompanying kimchi. Also LOVE and highly recommend their pho! For drinks, my friends and I really like their Thai Iced Tea and Vietnamese Iced Coffee with Milk.

The historic property is built along a creek with views of lush greenery. The tables are beautifully spaced out so it feels intimate. The vibe is romantic and quiet. When we arrived, we were greeted with a Happy Anniversary by both the host and the manager/owner(?). I had requested a quiet table along the window and that is exactly where we were seated. Our server, Michael, was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. He had the perfect blend of attentiveness without being obtrusive. Perfect for a romantic dinner. We both ordered the Le Domaine six course tasting menu. Every bite was absolutely exquisite and in perfect portions. The presentation was artful. The starter was Prawns Meunière. The prawns were in a lemon butter sauce - amazing. Next was Salade Francaise (butter lettuce perfectly dressed with a mustard tarragon vinaigrette) followed by a bay scallop in a light saffron sauce with a puff pastry. Our first meat was elk in a portabella cognac demi-glaze reduction. It was incredibly tender. Our entree was the rack of lamb. We ordered it medium and it was perfectly prepared. The lamb was plated with a wild rice pilaf and grilled vegetables. We finished with the Gateau Au Chocolat Fondant topped with vanilla bean cream with a side of fresh whip cream. A lovely surprise followed with a Happy Anniversary creme brûlée. The price was splurge pricing but worth every penny for a special occasion.

The dishes were well-prepared, flavorful, and thoughtfully presented. The overall ambiance was also enjoyable, making it a nice spot for a dinner out. Unfortunately, the experience took a concerning turn at the end of the meal. Our bill came out to $86.42, and I handed my credit card to the waiter. Within seconds (thanks to my card alerts), I received a notification that $103.92 had been charged. When the waiter returned with the receipt, there was no mention of any discrepancy. After waiting a few minutes to see if it would be addressed, I brought it up myself. The waiter appeared flustered and then claimed he had accidentally charged me for someone else's food. That explanation didn't align with the itemized bill I was given, which made the situation feel questionable. He assured me that it would be corrected and that I should see the adjustment in a few days, which I'll be watching closely. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of transparency and the fact that it wasn't proactively disclosed is what left a bad impression. Being overcharged without explanation -- and having to catch it myself -- is not something I expect when dining out. I'd consider coming back for the food, but I'd definitely be more cautious when it comes to the bill.

Final Thoughts: 2.50/5…read more My girlies and I went here for a simple dinner and to try it out. Very Asian fusion, specifically French-Vietnamese. Seems fine-ish dining vibes with the dim lights and modern interior that they have. While the whole experience itself was quite nice, the food is not the best and perhaps should still be in the works. It leans so much on trying to be Asian fusion, but the execution isn't there yet for me. Will push the 3 star today given the overall experience we had. Food: Prime Rib Phở (NO MSG): 3.0/5 This was the entrée that we shared. They give around 3 to 5 pieces of meat, which isn't the most ideal thing to see. The meat is tender though, so that's a plus. Given the cut of it, I really wouldn't expect anything less of this though. Speaking of see though, the presentation lacks a lot for me. There wasn't too much color in the bowl. Really just broth, the noodles, and the meat placed on top. Essentially that's all it is, but there's no pop of anything to it. The flavor of the broth is quite good though. It's a lighter, but deep flavor. Will attribute this to some kind of bone meat that they used versus loading it with MSG. The noodles were overcooked and more on the soft side for me. Not much of a bite overall. Grilled Pork Spring Rolls: 1.5/5 This was really underwhelming for me. The grilled pork was nothing extravagant. Crispy eggroll wrapper roll inside was stale. Lacking in body and shape. Each of the rolls were really small and thin and lacking a lot of the filling. Usually I find that other places will overstuff it with vermicelli and vegetables because those are the more inexpensive ingredients in the roll. Here, the proportions were balanced in a sense, but lacking in size. Their sauce is what gets me. I can understand the experimentation, but I do prefer the typical sauce that is used. Perhaps doing a variation of this sauce may be better versus changing it to a completely different sauce. This sauce was a spicy kaffir lime leaf sauce and the tartness and sour flavor just overwhelmed the whole dish, so it became less appetizing for me. Belgian Fries: 3.5/5 These were honestly my favorite item here. Umm...I can't say they're anything extravagant. They were super crispy and the right size for me. Some potato without being too starchy on the inside. The sauce is a truffle aioli and that was truly the star of the show. Most of the rating will be regarding the dipping sauce. It was very rich and the flavors were very balanced. The combination of the truffle with the garlic flavor contributes really well to the dish. Honestly comparable to Cajun fries. Shrimp Mango Ceviche: 2.0/5 Fourth item was also not my favorite at all. The curing sauce was just so tart and sour that it took so much away from the dish itself. Aesthetic wise, was very underwhelming. In my opinion, this would have looked better served inside of a rounder bowl?? versus a shallow plate. The plate just makes it look half eaten given the serving size. The chips were just chips, so nothing extravagant. Balance of shrimp to vegetables appears appropriate though. --------- Quality: Fresh The food items did come out hot. The fries were crispy. They claim their pho broth takes hours to make and I can only take their word from that. Waiters and waitresses seem genuine, so I shall trust them on that. Food appears to be fresh, so no concerns here. Price: Quite steep; $$$ The prices here are quite steep. With what I was served, the prices seem to lean more on the expensive side. I can understand that some ingredients are more pretentious, but I really can't say I would pay this much for what was served. Range is around $8 to $16 for smaller dishes and $20 to $40 for the entrees. Service: Amazing; A+ The service that we were provided today was amazing. The waitress and waiters are very nice and super attentive. They checked on us a few times after all the foods came out and refilled our waters as needed. When we were deciding what foods to order, they were also really patient in going through some of the food choices with us. Ambiance: Fine dining vibes The space really isn't that big and there are really only a few tables inside. The space is big and the ceilings are high, which again, leads me to feel that this place has the fine dining vibes. Interior is quite dim lit and has this calming and warm vibe to it. Location/Parking: Downtown Area/Parking Downtown San Jose is probably all I need to say for people to understand what I mean. IFKYK kind of a deal. I can't say the location is in a bad place per se because it is around this line of other restaurants and stores. The parking is terrible though and perhaps you will find yourself paring at the parking structures for a more affordable cost or a closer one for a more expensive price. The parking lot I chose is free for the first 90 minutes and then they start charging. For one of the closest parking lots, my friend paid $20+ for her ticket.

It was beautifully presented and a good balance of flavors. For main dishes, we got a variety of things. We got salmon, hanger steak, flat iron steak, and poulet roti. Everything was delicious. I think the flat iron steak was preferred over the hanger, but both were good. I thought the chicken was delicious. It seemed braised with a lot of flavor. It was a generous portion with a large salad. It was very well done. We also got a couple of sides of macaroni and cheese. Those didn't disappoint. They came in hot iron skillets and were hearty and delicious. For dessert we got the mousse au chocolat. The mousse with ice cream was a great combination. The dessert was well balanced. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff was great, the food was delicious, and the vibe was fun.

The brick walls and blackboards looked familiar. There's still a long table in the middle. With the new chairs and tablecloths, the place looked more classy than before. The floating shelves at the top of the walls were all lined with wine bottles. There're some gigantic bottles towards the back as well. It's quite a nice place to have a quiet, intimate dinner with the causal, yet upscale vibe. There're about eight tables (1-2 persons@) while we're there, and service was attentive, despite having only one server. For the $80 dinner for 2 special, we got to pick one item from each of the first two selections to share, two entrees, and one beignet each. We also added a beet salad to share, and my husband had the wine pairing. For our first course, the two baked oysters were cheesy and rich. It would be better if they were bigger, though. Our second course, the caramelized onion soup was perfectly prepared, one of the best I had ever had. The beet salad was refreshing, and the dressing was so tasty that it made arugula tasted good. I had the sole as my entree; it was cooked well, light and delicious. I took a bite of my husband's slow braised short ribs; it was tender and flavorful. The beignets were delightful, and paired really well with the dark chocolate and salted caramel sauce. I really appreciated that all their hot dishes came out really hot. Overall, it was a really enjoyable dinner. Would be back to have the onion soup again and try other items on the menu.

Unfortunately, our most recent visit completely changed that. We had reservations for a Saturday evening and were seated promptly. That's where the positive experience ended. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes without a single acknowledgment from staff--no greeting, no water, nothing. Meanwhile, other parties who arrived after us were attended to right away, which made the situation even more frustrating. After more than 30 minutes of being completely ignored, we decided to leave. It was honestly one of the most uncomfortable and disappointing dining experiences we've had. As strong supporters of local restaurants, this was especially disheartening given how much we used to enjoy coming here. Sadly, this experience has permanently changed how we feel about this place, and we won't be returning. I hope the staff takes this as a reminder that every customer deserves the same level of attention and respect.

The ingredients were fresh, beautifully balanced, and honestly so good I considered ordering another round. The bread was solid too -- perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. We tried a range of dishes and everything delivered. The omelette stuffed with shrimp was generous and great value, the French onion soup, mussels, and entrecôte were all absolutely spot on, and the chocolate mousse to finish was delicious. Next time, I'm definitely coming back for the soufflé. Even the fruit bowl stood out -- you could tell it was freshly cut, with each fruit tasting crisp and distinct rather than blended together. It's those little details that really show care. The space itself is charming and cozy, with a lovely French ambiance. It's a medium-sized restaurant , with additional outdoor seating, and a decor that makes you want to linger. What really stood out, though, was the service. Absolutely top notch. You can tell the staff and chefs genuinely care about what they're doing -- and that makes all the difference. Honestly, I'm surprised it wasn't more packed -- it deserves to be. We'll absolutely be back to explore more

The staff were warm and nice and I liked the ambiance of the restaurant. I ordered a coke to drink and my partner had a French beer. We proceeded to order the charcuterie and french onion soup for appetizers and the duck breast and french burger for entrees. The soup came and it was fine- it tasted like french onion soup. The charcuterie never came; I guess they forgot to put the order in or forgot to make it. It was awkward just sitting there starving while my husband ate his soup though. We figured maybe they were bringing it after he finished the soup so there'd be room on the table but nope. The burger looked nice and was cooked to the ordered temp of medium rare. Otherwise it was like any other burger anywhere else, not overly special. The fries were crisp and well salted. The duck was underwhelming. It's $38 for this plate of food and it came with totally flavorless and dry mashed potatoes, whose texture was akin to boxed potatoes. No butter or cream flavor to speak of. The vegetables were so disappointing. They had no seasoning whatsoever and were as soft as baby food- I am not exaggerating on that. I was surprised by how mushy the carrots were. For almost $40 I expect more exciting veg than broccoli, cauliflower and carrots all steamed to death. The duck was okay. There was a large tendon running through the middle of every piece and I could only eat half of it due to gristly fat. The port wine reduction that covered it totally masked the flavor of the duck. All I tasted was soy sauce. We let them know about the missing charcuterie to make sure it was not included on the bill. Other small things that detracted from the experience included them never clearing any dishes from the table (like the basket from the complimentary bread, appetizer plates or the huge wine glasses that neither of us needed) and not checking in on us to see how everything was going. The table was so cluttered it was hard to eat. It took a really long time to get the check and was so uncomfortable just sitting there obviously done with our food. For the prices charged I expected a higher level of service that was blatantly absent. Overall will not return. Over priced, slow, bland food.

Our party of 4 really enjoyed the food (particularly the calamari, duck, and ribeye), drinks, and service. The vibe was on the upscale side but not stuffy, a bit format but still warm. We also like that there were pockets for more private dining. So when it came time to have a small gathering for a group of 10, Papillon came to mind. Papillon's service was excellent - from the time of my reservations to the end of our evening. We requested a private room and boy were we impressed when we got to the venue! Without going into too much detail, because there's so much I can write about, let me just say that if you are looking for a place that is easy to get to, has ample parking, nostalgic and warm ambiance, friendly and professional service, classic and signature drink menu, and balanced food offering that are as well-plated as they are tasty, Papillon is the place! Special shoutout to Shawna (spelling?), our host, who took good care of our dining experience

The carpet is worn and I can smell cleaner they used. Overall, it's a place worth coming back again since the food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. The owner even came to the table and offered us a drink on the house.

We came on a Wed night and it was slow. There were a total of 3 tables and one waitress. She was great but she was one person so expect services to be slower. There's no fancy plates or wine glasses, just solid French classic dishes. Our appetizer were great, good salad and very yummy French onion soup. For entrees we got the pork tenderloin and chicken cordon bleu. Chicken cordon bleu was really good, pork tenderloin was ok. Not bad but also not memorable. I will get the chicken next time when I come back. House wine was $10 a glass and it was a generous pour. Simple, pleasing CA cab. We got the cheese cake for dessert and that was only ok. I wouldn't get it again.
