Chi Chi's is our second favorite Italian restaurant in Simi (Beto's is our favorite), but I think it's the best family Italian restaurant. They specialize in Southern Italian cooking, although my wife loves their chicken strips and steak fries. I think their sauce is a little sweet, but keep in mind I'm Italian, cook my own red gravy, and I'm a little judgy about red sauce. But they are still very good. And their pizza is great too. A little greasy maybe, but I like it like that :) read more

First of all, I will state that I am not a big fan of pizza or pasta, but Chi Chi's Pizza in Simi Valley is making me like them because of their incredible service. I have ordered from here two or three times already (one was actually last minute, day before, my fault for ordering last minute) and they always help me out with whatever questions I might have. I have ordered their pasta and salad from here (regular pasta with meat/non meat sauce) and it's very tasty. I had dinner with my daughter and we were waiting to catch the Amtrak train and had only 40 minutes to eat and run. The service was first class. They sat us immediately and the server was amazing. We explained that we only had 40 minutes and he promised us that they could serve us and we would be on time. I ordered the spaghetti with meatball. It comes with a meat sauce and the meatball was $3. My daughter had the linguine with clams and white sauce. The pasta was all made in house and it was great. Both dishes were well prepared and the portions were huge. My daughter said it was best linguine and clam sauce and the clams were fresh and the sauce was well seasoned. My spaghetti was also excellent and the meatball was wonderful. They gave us complementary dinner rolls that were straight out the oven fresh. Even though they don't deliver, I will drive 20 minutes out of my way to pick up curbside Chi Chi's Pizza. They use the freshest ingredients and you can tell that everything is made fresh daily. When we do dine in, it's when I'm carving their Eggplant Parmesan that's baked in individual cast iron skillets - to die for! There is nothing like Chi Chi's fresh cheese, melted until ooey-gooey perfection. Plus, it's great dipping sauce for the fresh sourdough rolls they have. And may I add that their Chianti pairs perfectly with this feast. Their service is fantastic and friendly. Chi chi's has been decent to us for the past few years we've lived in Simi. Their pasta is made from scratch, and it is to die for- and I think they even butter the noodles before adding the sauce, which adds more flavor. The full bodied meat sauce is my favorite. Service is generally good, when they're not busy. They've brought little snacks for my kids like shredded cheese and crackers without charging. The only thing that's disappointing is that everything is a la carte and the add ons are pricey. So like 7 bucks for a salad or a tiny cup of minestrone (which wasn't really that good), or 3 bucks for a tiny meatball. So a plate of spaghetti and meatballs (plural) can easily come out to about 25$! Last time we went we ordered the all you can eat pasta which was not much of a deal, as you can't take round 2 to go if you get full. The Olive Garden, Maggiano's etc have the buy one/take one to go option, so I'm not sure why Chi Chi's can't follow suit? But I suppose you pay the extra for quality. read more

This place has been around for a long time! I'm more familiar with the Santa Clarita location and was delighted to find a location near the soccer fields. Pizza was delicious! The pasta is good from what i remember and everyone with me that ordered lasagna loved it. The place gets crazy busy so be prepared! Oh and the sourdough rolls are delicious! After hearing some rave reviews from family members of ours who eat at Chi Chi's regularly, we figured we'd give it a shot, cause...why not? We're always looking for new places to eat. So, where shall I begin? Ambiance = 1 out of 5 stars. This place reminds me of The Pizza Cookery without the sawdust on the floor. It just looked like any ol' restaurant or coffee shop that hasn't really had any upkeep. Service = 0 out of 5 stars. It was preeeeetty much non-existent. They sat us next to a very large party who was extremely loud and demanding, but our server wasn't waiting on their table, so I have no idea why our meal took an hour and a half from start to finish. We never had a busboy or anyone but the waiter tend to us, and even the waiter wasn't very present. People who sat down 20 minutes after we did finished their dinner while we were still waiting for our food, which was just spaghetti with tomato sauce, buttered noodles and fried chicken. Nothing fancy and shouldn't have taken 45 minutes to receive. The food = 3 out of 5 stars. The spaghetti was fine. Kind of watery, but tasted ok. The fried chicken my husband ordered was good, according to him...but he wouldn't rush back there for it. Our daughter said her buttered noodles were ok. The salad I started with was probably the best part of my meal and was very good. It tasted almost exactly like the salad from Pizza Cookery, which isn't a bad thing, but stop charging for cheese. "Italian" restaurants always have cheese on their salads. It should NOT be an up-charge. Overall, the whole experience was kinda sucky. The very loud party of 15 sitting right next to us, screaming and cackling the whole time, was enough to ruin anyone's meal. Having the waiters and busboys constantly squeeze by our table to help their table all while sticking their rear ends in our faces was beyond annoying. I wouldn't rush back here anytime soon. We much prefer Presto Pasta which is right by our house and is a much more enjoyable experience all around. read more

Honestly I've walked by dozens of times thinking no way . I finally went with some friends and our kids. I was very skeptical. I had a great time and the food was pretty good too. I can't believe how delicious that chicken was! I also had their half n half ravioli. The cheese was good the beef wasn't really what I'm into but I know my husband would like it. The pizza wasn't amazing but still enjoyable. My son got their mac n cheese and that was pretty good too. I'll definitely go back especially for that chicken. The environment is so very friendly even a little noisy. We easily spent 2 hours there and it barely felt like 20 mins. read more

They don't know how to take your takeout order over the phone. You're order will usually be wrong when you go to pick it up so make sure to double check it. Even they're employees admit that the takeout operation is a disaster. These clowns are not even trying to figure out how to improve. Pathetic. I don't know why I haven't done this sooner. I've been eating here over 20 years. Absolutely one of my favorite comfort food places. The white sauce on shells to die for. The springs with meat sauce, oh so yummy. The pizza... Ooooh thin and crispy witg toppings so fresh and never skimpy. The salads are amazing. Oh and the rolls, mmmm. We use the curbside at least one a month and have for years. I've noticed lately they have a ton more servers outside to keep the line moving quickly. And then I went gluten free and almost cried when my son suggested Chi Chi's the other night! Until I remembered they added a gluten free pasta to the menu. As I ordered over the phone and asked for my usual meat sauce with the gluten free pasta, the guy so knowledgeably said that that sauce has gluten in it too and suggested the tomato and basil sauce they have that is gluten free. I used to live in NY, capital of all that is pizza and Italian...Nothing will ever compare...I mean...Chicago also does pizza, but it isn't the first thing that pops to mind for good pizza... The west coast definitely does it different and has captured my heart all the same... Chi-Chi's has been open for as long as I can remember and you should all know why...The food is amazing... I've run the culinary gamut of food at this place and nothing on the menu is a terrible choice... Personal Favorite: Meatball (in which the meatballs are sliced flat...innovative and effective), mushrooms, roma tomatoes and fresh basil... See, the thing about Chi-Chi's pizza is that you can watch them make it...The guys making your pizzas do not weigh your cheese like most chains do...They generously pile it on there...They also put a light layer of tomato sauce (a personal preference of mine), but then follow with the toppings...The toppings are then covered with all this light mozzerella... Next up: The pressure cooked fried chicken with GIANT fries...Never dry...I'm almost speechless right now... Sidenote: It's three in the morning and I know I'm going to Chi-Chi's for lunch because I am seriously jonesin' writing this review... Next up: A tie between the all you can eat pasta (yes you read that correct) and the seafood scallopini (I think I may have just butchered the spelling)... The all you can eat pasta...Now you can go meat sauce or straight tomato sauce...Then you choose your shape...I usually go with whole wheat rigatoni thinking it's healthier, but it really doesn't matter when you eat enough to feed a small Asian household...Spaghetti, shells, ties, etc... Do yourself a favor and try it with mushrooms, a side of sausage and two meatballs...You may not need a second plate... Let me paint you the picture of a terrible injustice. My older brother texts me a photo of himself enjoying a fresh pizza from Chi Chi's in Simi Valley. Meanwhile, I'm stuck in San Mateo, some 400 miles north, unable to smell it, to taste it, to savor it; only able to look upon the photo with ravenous, frothing jealousy. Yes, I froth sometimes. Leave it alone. I grew up eating Chi Chi's and it is the first restaurant I visit whenever I return home. To quote Queen Elizabeth, this place is real legit, ya'll, feel me? Authentic Italian food in the Valley -- and technically, a suburb of the Valley. But I digress. Point is, if you find yourself hungry in Simi, Chi Chi's is mandatory. Seriously, scratch any other options off your list of potentials and just drive directly here. There's a plethora of reasons why there's a mob of people camped outside the place almost every night. Let me list a few of them: The gods-celebrated pizza! Zeus himself is known to dine here because he can't get enough of Chi Chi's pepperoni, sausage, and jalapeño pizza. He rests his thunderbolt against one of the roomy booths and always orders his pie with the spicy sauce and well done. Sometimes he'll even get anchovies on half of his pizza -- he can't care what Hera has to say about it; that girl bunk anyway; she his wife and sister. (Not sure why Zeus is getting all ghetto up in here, but whatev.) The cheese ravioli with white sauce. Order it. Then, dab bites of your pizza into the sauce and ascend into temporary nirvana. The "french fries." In quotes because these are gigantic potato monstrosities carved loosely into the shape of traditional fries, but that's where the resemblance ends. They happen to be crispy and delicious, though. The antipasto salad. Chi Chi's throws everything in its arsenal into the salad. All kinds of meats. Mozzarella. How about some onions? Garbanzo beans? Why the hell not? And yet, somehow it all comes together and tastes wonderful, likely because the dressing is spot on. First pro tip: If you're going on a Friday or Saturday, prepare to wait a while. Order ahead and pick it up. They have a parking lot pick-up system that works pretty well. Second pro tip: Zeus is a god for a reason. He knows. That's why he always gets the spicy sauce on a pepperoni, sausage, jalapeño and anchovy pizza. And he always gets it well done. You don't know better than Zeus! My hubby and I ordered TAKEOUT. BIG MISTAKE!! THE SPAGHETTI AND MEAT SAUCE, PIZZA, and Salad. First the Spaghetti w/ meat sauce was HORRIBLE. Meat Sauce?? What meat sauce. There so STINGY WITH THERE MEAT SAUCE. The NOODLES WERE SO DRY. I couldn't eat it I had to throw it away!!! Pizza is great! Always a good time when we eat in. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Bar menu is diverse put on point for an Italian restaurant. Interior seating really needs an upgrade though as most of the booths are old, cracked, and missing cushioning. Their drive up pick is a mess; both inside and outside. Inside, it's very unorganized and chaotic, and outside, well, they should dedicate those two spots in front to pick up since no one can ever park there anyway. In summary, take a load off! I always get a pepperoni cut the old way, you seriously have to get it cut the old way it's really good :P Their antipasto salad is bomb especially with their home made Italian dressing. their cheese ravioli's are soo good you'll want to drink the sauce left on the plate, their chicken is soo moist and flavorful you won't know what else to order!!! Haven't been here in a couple years, but used to come here ALL the time throughout the past 10 years, and the service has always been stellar, until last night... Decided to head over after a long week and enjoy some Chi Chi's pizza! Well my soup was cold, the waiter nicely brought out another one, which was also cold... My daughter's mac n cheese never came out, so the waiter nicely took it off our bill. Getting a hold of our waiter was extremely difficult. Our drinks were not refilled even once, and after our food came out we didn't see him again for at least 10 minutes. He did not offer to bring us boxes for all the leftover food either. I had to try and flag someone down to get our boxes. We were taking a huge salad home, but he didn't even offer to bring us the little dressing containers. Had to then flag someone down again for those. Overall the food was good (minus the soup), but the service used to be stellar, and it's now mediocre. Won't be returning here unless someone else is buying LOL. read more

Another average food joint in Simi Valley. Don't get me wrong - it isn't bad at all. I've just had better. At least it's not another BBQ place (the last thing Simi needs).
