I ordered the 5 Spice Chicken with garlic noodles and I was blown away! It was so delicious! I can't tell you what the 5 spices used are (because I don't know), but the chicken was so flavorful and moist and I enjoyed every bite. The cashier and possible owner was friendly and working his a** off to serve and accommodate everyone that came in...which was a lot of people since this place seemed quite popular on a Sunday evening. I LOVED THIS PLACE!!!!! The best Asian cuisine place in the city! Mostly because of the owner's friendliness but I highly recommend stopping by at this place when you are walking around Mission area! I came here for the Yelp Elite event and it was a dinner on Tuesday for 30 guests. It was a buffet style of variety of dishes from the menu and the drinks (beers and sodas and water) were free to take from the fridge. We were able to try garlic noodles, stir fried vegetables with shrimp, popcorn chicken, chicken cabbage salad, chicken wings, garlic shrimp noodles, spring rolls and their speciality - five spice chicken. All of them were tasty and tasted very similar to the dishes that I tried when I was in Taiwan. One of the friends who was at the table was from Taiwan and he also said it was very tasty so the flavor must have been really authentic. I really liked the garlic shrimp and when I told that to the owner, he secretly made a bowl of garlic crab for me and that was even more amazing!! The pepper was really spicy but the garlic flavor and the butter were making the taste very rich and so flavorful. And of course, I loved the five spice chicken, whose sauce was just as salty as I wanted. I brought some of the chicken back and even at home heated up with the microwaved, they tasted still very very good. The best part of this event was that I got to talk with the owner and the chef, Michael. He was very friendly and inspiring and what's more, very thoughtful for all the guests at the restaurant. He showed his appreciation and modesty when he was mentioning how Chic n Time was selected as the 15th restaurant on the list of 100 best restaurant list on Yelp and also talked to us one on one and asking us what we liked the most so that he could serve those more at the event. When each of us kept coming to ask for boxes and bags, he kept smiling and showed no annoyed faces, which was also impressive. He is the real restaurant owner to make a lot of people happy! Five spice chicken pho- Chicken looks fresh but tastes surprisingly citrusy and not like five spice. Dark meat yes, but still heavily oily, I set the chicken on a paper towel to drain. Broth really just tastes like chicken broth and nothing else. I also didn't receive and pho veggies, no jalapeño or red onions like in the photos, not sure if that was a mistake on the delivery part or what. Garlic noodles- Dry and fairly bland. Saw that this place was relatively new and went in with an open mind, walked out pleasantly surprised & with a new go to! This may be my new favorite garlic noodle spot in SF. The garlic noodles are awesome, packed with flavor, but not overly greasy & heavy like most garlic noodles I have. Both the peppercorn chicken and the five spice chicken were full of flavor, can't go wrong with either. The skin on the peppercorn chicken was nice and crispy with a good peppery kick, and the five spice chicken had the perfect signature Asian spice blend mixed with some sticky sweet goodness. Both were juicy and tender all the way through, and I find myself craving another bite as I write this review. If I had to suggest one improvement, it would be great if they could throw a few more pieces of broccoli to make a slightly more balanced meal. The imperial rolls are SO crispy and light - I love ANY kind of imperial roll, but usually they're way bigger / more deep fried/ darker - these were super light in color, rice paper wrappers were more white than yellow, and they were smaller / crunchier. It also came w lettuce and herbs to wrap it in. Loved it! We also loved our main (garlic noodles were SO tasty and fresh). Chicken was VERY fresh and not greasy! I've only been ordering deliveries from this place. They're great. I like their Taiwanese Fried Chicken, and their Five Spiced Chicken. The Taiwanese chicken is not that oily either, which is nice. At least what I got was not that oily. The garlic noodle is good as well, though I wish it was more garlicky. The staff definitely knows how to handle fried food. They cut open the container a little bit to let steam escape. I don't get how these days there are places who still don't know this simple trick to make fried food not as soggy. Another thing is they offer trays as well. Would have loved it if they only sell just a full tray of chicken without any carbs or veggies. Just chicken, say five spiced chicken. I have a full blown addiction to this place and I'm perfectly fine with that! The best dish there is easily the five spice chicken. The texture of the skin is crispy without having been coated in flour or deep fried. I have been disappointed by so many restaurants in SF claiming their duck/chicken has crispy skin, only to have a soggy mess... And I can easily say that chic n time has never disappointed me (not to mention it's much cheaper than a majority of the restaurants in the area). Other notable dishes: the taiwanese style chicken, the chicken steak, and the chicken pho. All the dishes are comforting and don't feel too heavy. 100% recommend going if you want a great meal without the typical San Francisco prices. read more

The five spice chicken is perfectly seasoned and has a golden caramel skin. It's delicious with both the chicken cabbage salad and the garlic noodles.
