I found out about this gem of a restaurant from a previous event. Having tasted so many good dishes, I had to to come back. The first thing we ordered was the fried tofu. The tofu itself was very soft and spongy when fried, absorbing the delicious dipping sauce while tasting moist. Add a bit of the spicy powder on top and you've got an addicting appetizer. Then we had the garlic noodles with crab meat. The garlic noodles were buttery and flavorful on their own, but with the creamy and soft crab meat, this was easily my favorite dish. My friends also ordered the five spice chicken. The meat was juicy and the sauce was sweet and delicious. Everything ordered was just amazing and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This was my second visit to Chic n' Time; the first was when they graciously hosted a Yelp Elite event a few weeks ago. At that first visit, I had a variety of their offerings, all of which were delicious, but the one thing I couldn't stop thinking about was the Fried Tofu appetizer! Well, this time, I got myself an order of the Fried Tofu ($10) and an order of the 5 Spice Chicken with Garlic Noodles ($17). Just as I remembered, the tofu was crispy on the outside and deliciously silky and smooth on the inside; oooh, so yummy!! I actually ordered take out, but knowing that the tofu was fried, I had to have a couple of pieces as soon as I got to the car just in case it wasn't crispy anymore when I got home. It was piping hot and so good. It was hard to stop eating it, but I managed. When I got home after a 20 minute drive, I was pleased that the tofu was still crispy on the outside; it held up to the time lapse and being in the take-out container for that period. The sauce that comes with it adds a whole other dimension and the finely ground chili gives it a delightful kick. There were 16 pieces of tofu in that "appetizer" order, so it could definitely be an entree if one desires. Okay, now that I've swooned over the tofu, let me tell you about the 5 Spice Chicken and Garlic Noodles! That was also a big hit with my tastebuds! Both were very nicely seasoned. The noodles had a great balance of flavors as did the 5 spice chicken. The fish sauce that came with the dish gave it a nice piquant hit and I really appreciated the broccoli that was included (gotta have my veggies!). Can't wait to go back to order more items. Update - definitely gotta bump this up to a 5 Stopped by here with my girlfriend last weekend and I got the satay pho and my girlfriend got garlic noodles with tofu. Both items were very solid as usual On top of those though - we got one of the best things I've had in a minute- the crispy tofu Jeeeeez this was good - paired with the spicy powder (and the secret spicy powders in the back) this was incredible. Extra crispy on the outside and nice and soft in the inside. Also, we were able to talk with the man who was running the counter and he gave us a lot of detail on the food and everything - he was incredibly friendly . We started ordering from Chic n' Time early 2021 during the pandemic for takeout since I saw photos of their Taiwanese chicken steak and that was enough to sell me. Years later I still find myself ordering delivery from here every so often if I'm craving a dry spice chicken (be careful with their chili powder). They also have some of my favorite garlic noodles in the city. Wow wow wow wow wow this place is a MUST TRY! I ordered the fried chicken steak (essentially a chicken katsu) and it was by far the best chicken katsu I have ever had! From the picture it looks a bit dry, but trust me it was mouth watering delicious, the sauce that it came with was so tasty, and they also give you a shaker with this fine-powdered chili flakes that is so spicy and really just adds a perfect heat to the meal. Came here after we couldn't get seated for happy hour at another restaurant nearby, and I'm so glad we stopped by here instead! We got seated immediately, ordered up front, and got served water and the food we ordered like a full-service restaurant. Walked over to eat here on a Sunday night at around 7p. The tables inside were taken but the patio was empty. We did not have to wait in line to order. We ordered the popcorn chicken, peppercorn wings, and the 5 spice with garlic noodles. They also had a decent selection of beers and seltzer in a fridge. The food came out pretty quickly. Our favorite dish was the popcorn chicken as it was well seasoned, crispy, and delicious. They also give you spice powder to sprinkle to your preference on top. The 5 spiced chicken was also seasoned well with a more lemongrass undertone and the skin was super crispy! The garlic noodles are a must and were buttery and garlicky. The peppercorn chicken wings were nicely fried with tons of garlic and jalapeños on top but not quite as flavorful as the other food, maybe a pinch more salt was needed. It was not stir fried as there was no oil at the bottom of my plate nor was there any remnants of oil that lingered in or around my mouth. I see why they make the self-proclamation. I really enjoyed this order for two meals. For those who know the history of garlic noodles in the dining scene, I recall that the 1st restaurant to offer it was that crab place on Judah in the Outer Sunset. At the same, it was the rage and I understand why other than that it paired perfectly with their signature roasted crab. From our minimal interaction, the staff seems kind and friendly. While we left pretty satisfied, I also don't see myself running to come back. I can tell this is probably a very unpopular opinion within this community, but for a place that's supposed to be known for their chicken, I was quite disappointed. I made sure to order some of the popular items based on other yelpers reviews like the Imperial Rolls and the Fried Chicken Steak with the garlic noodles. The Imperial Rolls were actually my favorite! You can clearly see by the white exterior that this is not your typical fried eggroll. They were super crispy while also feeling light when eaten inside the lettuce wrap. Every bite came with an insane crunch that made me even more exited for the chicken. Once the Fried Chicken Steak arrived, my mouth was watering in anticipation. They even gave us a can of their spicy seasoning so we could make it as spicy as we desired which I really appreciated. Fully seasoned, I took my first bite and it seemed somewhat crispy and chewy at the same time. It's as if it was flattened so much that when fried it got dried out and chewy yet the exterior still had some crunch to it but nowhere near as amazing as the imperial roll. The garlic noodles were alright, nothing out of this world. Chic n' Time is my new go to for street food that remind me of Taiwan's night market - specifically fried tofu and chicken steak. Though I always over order and also can't help also getting the garlic noodles, five spice chicken, and spring roll or imperial roll...and of course some drinks (milk tea boba is usual, and my husband likes the orange creamsicle). The fried tofu is just so perfectly fried with the batter and delicious with the sauce. My husband is still not a tofu lover but has come to like this appetizer. The chicken steak tastes just like the night markets and held up well in transport that catering day. The five spice chicken was tender and bursting with flavor, but apparently just takes a little longer to cook (totally worth it!) I first was introduced via a Yelp Elite event (thank you Dominic!!!) and then catered for a company offsite last year. The owner Michael is so accommodating - I didn't realize the restaurant was closed when I initially inquired. He came in on the day the restaurant was closed to cook and packed it with everything I might need with serving utensils. Then my husband's parents were coming in town and I was asking about non fried foods while eating lunch and he brought over a sample of the five spice chicken and it was so good (his parents loved it the following week). Note, this is advertised as chicken steak(which I think it fully embodies!) , not chicken katsu. Garlic noodles: has great garlic flavor, and most importantly it wasn't oily or dry. Fried tofu: crispy breading, and inside was soft silken tofu, which I was pleasantly surprised by. I was expecting a medium firm tofu, but I actually liked the silken tofu with the crispy breading. The chicken is really good but I think if they had their own sauces it would really bring the restaurant next level. I would come back here for a quick and affordable eat. Got the garlic noodles with crab and vermicelli bowl. Loved it! Need to try the other items on the menu.

There's a few Vietnamese restaurants around and all are amazing (I'm a chef, I know my food). I figured to give this place a try. I got the vermicelli bowl with beef. First off, beef was super over cooked, the sauce was tiny and barely coated the noodles. I had to make my own at home. They also didn't add any cilantro which is a staple in these dishes. This place sucks. Stay away if you want authentic. read more

After taking advantage of First Sunday's at the Asian Art Museum, I had a sudden craving for garlic noodles. I knew I was going to be in the Mission later that day. So after searching on Yelp, found Chic n' Time. Indoor dining is allowed at limited capacity, so they have probably around 4 tables available inside. But they also have outdoor seating if you want to eat outside. I chose their entree with garlic noodles and five-spice chicken. Even though I hadn't eaten anything all day, I felt that the portions were enough for two people. I definitely couldn't saved half for later. The garlic noodles were egg noodles, and had just enough garlic to satisfy that craving without being overpowered. And it wasn't oily either, which is what I liked. The five-spice chicken was flavorful, and the skin had a good crunch. Heck, even the broccoli was good too! And out of the blue, one of the employees gave me fried tofu to try. She was confident I'd like them, and she was right! The tofu was a bit silky, and the breading had a good crunch. I really liked the dipping sauce, that I could've drank it. And she also refilled my water, which was much allr I am definitely coming back to try their fried chicken, which she also recommended. And I'll try their drinks, too, which includes boba. read more

We stumbled upon Chic n' Time and it did not disappoint at all . The service was friendly and upbeat. The food was fresh, hot and delicious! ! Highly recommend trying the popcorn chicken app, the breaded shrimp with garlic noodles, the teriyaki chicken plate with garlic noodle, shrimp roll, the lobster garlic noodle(which has a Alfredo like cream sauce), and their chicken wings. We each ordered some type of Boba tea or slushy and a day later, my mouth is still salivating describing their plates. They're simple decor keeps you engaged at your own table. This was a great find on the Valencia corridor. I just finished a float therapy session across the street at the end of a long week and wanted something quick for dinner. The name of the restaurant intrigued me so I went in to check them out. I was greeted very warmly by the owner and he walked me through the menu - it's Vietnamese fusion and their menu is full of comfort food (pho, popcorn chicken, spring rolls). I ultimately ended up ordering their garlic butter crab with garlic noodles. It's a counter service situation and they have both inside and outside parklet seating. The garlic noodles/crab came out relatively quickly and was great. It was a good-sized bowl with a lot of crab and some broccoli. It was $18 before tax and tip. This is outstanding value for what I got. I will definitely be coming back and trying the other items on this menu. Highly recommended for those looking for a quick bite in this part of the Mission. read more
