Chicago Fire (Downtown Sacramento, CA): Deep Dish Delight Dessert

I visited Chicago Fire in Downtown Sacramento, CA [2416 J St] on Wednesday, 06/10/26, around 2:15 PM during lunchtime. I ordered the following: * Personal Sized Deep Dish Pizza with Canadian Bacon, Salami and Spinach * 4pcs Boneless Wings (Buffalo Sauce) with Celery Sticks and Ranch * Deep Dish Delight Dessert * Apple Juice I must say that the deep dish pizza was addictive with each bite. I loved the fresh ingredients and the execution of the deep dish with the crust. The wings were flavorful and celery sticks were nicely crisp. The deep dish delight dessert met the sweet tooth craving. Lastly, the apple juice was refreshing. The interior of the restaurant was inviting and had nice decor all throughout. The customer service was pleasantly friendly. The restroom was clean and well-maintained. Overall, Chicago Fire's food was beyond dynamite. I was satisfied from start to finish. I will definitely be returning here in the future.

So me and the significantly better half Cathi went to Chicago Fire this morning. We were the only customers in the well appointed restaurant on J St. Our server, Natalie B., sat us in a booth and took our drink orders. She offered Cathi a Shirley Temple and Cathi hadn't had one in a zillion friggin years so she said heck yeah. Natalie says she loves making them. It was delightful! All red and sweet and bubbly and loaded with cherries. We ordered a deep dish personal pizza, Caesar salad and cheesy garlic bread with marinara sauce. The Caesar was perfect. Crispy romaine, crunchy croutons, Parmesan cheese and dressing. It paired so well with the hot cheesy garlic bread. That bread was not ashamed to be garlicky. It said, "I am garlic. Hear me roar!" The bread and salad could've been a meal all itself. The pizza had a beautiful thick crust, San marzano tomatoes... And a magnificently long cheese pull. Three words: dee- lish- ous. Okay, three syllables! The TVs in the restaurant were showing an infomercial. Really? We asked Natalie if she could change it to anything else. She put on Wimbledon and that was cool. The restaurant has a nice fun, low key vibe and that infomercial was killing it. As we were finishing up a lovely meal another couple came in. I don't know why more people weren't in there. A delicious Chicago style Italian lunch for two for $23. Of course we split it because I had bariatric surgery and can no longer work servers to the bone bringing plate after plate. This is a great lunch spot. Don't sleep on it. Capone would be proud. Natalie went above and beyond. If you get her as a server, you'll have a great meal.

Located on J street, This is my favorite Sacramento Stuffed Pizza and usually my first choice when the wife and kids wanna treat me to something special. It has a nice decor inside and plenty of seating for dining, as well as a bar area if you wanna just hang and watch a game while enjoying an adult beverage . In this instance, we got our order to go, calling ahead to allow the extra time the deep dish requires. Went with a large deep dish Stockyard and a side order of Pesto chips. Love the pizza, primarily a stuffed pie with loads of cheese and toppings under a thin layer of dough topped with a zesty tomato sauce . Pesto chips are pretty much a thin dough pizza covered in cheese and pesto and baked to crispy perfection. Easily my favorite Pizza place in Sacramento

What a sleeper for lunch! Stopped by one Sunday with my mom for an impromptu lunch date. Service was great, food was delicious, and vibes were good. I ordered the personal deep dish, salad and a drink special (about $14) and mom ordered the spaghetti, salad, and drink special (similar price I believe). What a great deal! The food was great. Highly recommend for a high quality and affordable lunch.

I went to this restaurant with some co workers for lunch. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by staff. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I ordered the cub club lunch special pizza and Caesar salad. The cub club pizza was delicious and Caesar salad was the perfect combination to the pizza. The ambiance was customer friendly and has plenty of space in the restaurant. The restaurant has a phenomenal menu choices.

We came during a downtime, possibly even the first guests of the day. We ordered a salad and a deep dish pizza and we waited a while as the deep dish usually takes a while to cook. Unfortunately we got the news they put pineapple on the pizza and that was a big no for me. Not a fan. However we weren't in a rush and they offered to make us a new one free of charge if we wanted to wait. We decided to wait and it was very good pizza. They came and checked on us consistently so service was very kind and hospitable. Atmosphere was dark but it was on theme with restaurant. Very quiet.

Wow for lunch specials! We go to Chicago Fire all the time, but we saved big today with their lunch specials! Personal Abe Froman, salad, and a drink for $13!! That's probably about the same as Pizza Hut, but you know it's not the same. Abe Froman? Every time. Service was super pleasant, and the atmosphere the same tasteful space to enjoy top shelf pizza. I just keep on coming back, and it's no surprise why.

It was our first time here, and we were very impressed! Not too busy on a Sunday night, but the server did get pulled over to a 14-top table. For the great vibes and food here, I don't blame them! The deep dish has a taller crust than it fills but the bite of the cheese and toppings is absolutely delicious. The crust has a great flavor too, but the real star of the night was the buffalo boneless wings! The meat was juicy and fresh, and the breading was unique and crispy, not like typical frozen boneless wings with thick breading. The buffalo sauce at medium was perfect - so tasty and not too spicy. We inhaled them so quickly, I don't have a picture for them. Guess we'll just have to revisit!

I've been here a couple of times, most recently for a quick lunch. In previous visits I've been for an event and also for small group lunch. Service has been great for all the visits! Food also delicious. For the birthday event we had a bunch of pizza options and they were all great. Today we had the lunch specials - persona hand tossed and the combo lunch with a personal pizza (went with deep dish), salad, and drink for $14. The fries appetizer was very tasty- strong garlic, which we love. The salad was good and the pizzas came out quick and were also delicious. Recommend.

On a rainy Saturday night, there was no wait to dine here. It was half full, and it felt very cozy inside. We were greeted by the hostess, and our server was nice. I was here to try the deep dish pizza, and they had a small selection of specialties. I ended up getting the small 10" Great Chicago Fire, which was the spicy one. I asked for habanero on the side as well. I loved the spiciness! Small deep dish pizzas here go for $26.55, and I think this can feed two people easily. They cut our pizza into four quarters, and I ended up only eating one slice. I think the crust has a texture like a fruit tart. It's very buttery and kinda crunchy. Our pizza was part of the "pizza for two" deal, which included three items: a pizza, wings or salad, and dessert. We got the boneless extra hot wings, which was good - but could have been spicier! For dessert, the mini deep dish delight was the right choice. It was a scoop of vanilla ice cream over a warm chocolate chip cookie, and it was gone faster than you could say "pizza"! -No parking lot, find street parking -Unsure about free wifi -Credit card accepted -Bathroom available -TVs play sports games

This is another first time here for pizza in Sacramento visiting friends and at first it was Chicago so naturally I thought heavy dough and high carbs. No it has plenty of options to choose from. We opted for what said to be a cracker thin crust and honestly I was thinking yeah right but tried it out anyway. The crust is actually very thin and crispy. So this was a combination with olives. Just know we're going back.

First visit to Midtown and in the mood for pizza. Very quiet when we walked in to the pint there was no host in the front. We sat in the bar area. The server suggested a drink that was actually a great combo to the original mojito. Used Basel and vodka. I prefer this combo. I appreciate the suggestion. The wings were tasty. They had a small outside crunch. I liked them because they weren't very saucy. The thin crust was perfect. It wasn't soggy. The ingredients were fresh and enjoyed the taste. We really enjoyed the meal. Definitely visit again when in town.

Always have to come for the deep dish stuffed pizza! We came on new years day so it wasn't packed. A good amount of people, still we were immediately seated and the kings game was on. Started with some beers and greek fries. Yum. Love the amount of garlic on them and the lemon option - yes! We ordered the half combo and new spin n shroom deep dish/stuffed pizzas. Those take longer to bake so we were sure to get the order in quickly. However with it being slower that day, the wait for it was like half. When it came, it wasn't too hot. Temp was good to perfectly chow down,. though I personally would have liked it hotter and still run the risk of burning the top of my mouth from impatience. But I understand and all the bites were deelish. Service was great. Thank you for the visit. Will need to come with more folks so we can enjoy wings and a dessert cookie too!!

If you're looking for that authentic, Midwest, deep-dish pizza in the Sacramento area, I would have to say that "Chicago Fire" is as good as it gets. Of course my personal favorites are "Zachary's" in Berkeley and "Old Chicago Pizza" in Petaluma. However, if I am looking for something local, this is the place to come to. Located directly on J St. in between 24th & 25th St's in Midtown Sacramento, this Chicago Fire has been serving up its delicious pizza for many, many years. I came here during the afternoon of 2/16/2020, roughly a month before the COVID-19 pandemic went into effect. The one downfall of this restaurant is that there is no outdoor or patio seating. Which is a bummer since Sacramento offers an abundance of comfortable afternoons and evenings for the majority of the year. The inside, however is very open and spacious with large gathering tables and booths. The brick walls give this place a classic look while much of the pictures and artwork are dedicated to the windy city. Since my friend and I arrived during lunch, we both agreed not to do something as heavy as a pizza. I started off with a side salad complete with blue cheese dressing. As far as my main entree, I went with their "Pesto Chicken Sandwich" which included grilled chicken breast on a ciabatta roll complete with tomato, basil leaves, fresh mozzarella and pesto aioli. My friend ordered their "Hot Chicken Sandwich" which offered a fried chicken breast dipped in hot sauce on a brioche bun with garlic aioli and dill pickle chips. We both opted for fries as our sides. Surprisingly, there were hardly any customers in here! I mean we were the only ones dining in; and this was on a Sunday afternoon. Which meant from the time we walked in to when we ordered and finally received our food, it only took about 12 minutes total. Once our sandwiches arrived, everything looked delicious. My chicken sandwich was moist, tender, and had the perfect amount of pesto which was perfect on the soft ciabatta roll. My friend loved his sandwich as it offered the perfect amount of heat while the dill pickles provided a cool, crisp taste to it. Both meals which are non-pizza items were surprisingly very delicious. I've been here many times in the past and I would say their deep dish pizzas are their specialty. However, if you're looking for an alternative, definitely give their sandwiches a try as well. Overall with the attentive staff that helped us combined with the hearty portions, and overall experience at the Midtown Chicago Fire, I am giving this place an above average four star rating. read more

I had a slice a long while back, but wanted to try it fresh for myself. My waiter was great, a former Pizza Rock waiter so there was a lot of meaningful commentary about the aspects of the menu. I opted for a full family meal with the Caesar salad, pizza, and dessert. The star of the meal was the pizza. SO filling and huge, I swore a 14" wouldn't be enough for me and the two kids. After the first piece, we looked at each other and knew there would be leftovers. The flavor was great, quality of the ingredients was definitely there, and the price as right for the two full meals we got out of it. Definitely on our list to come back. read more

I would like to personally shout out the the mgr, Andrew for reaching out to me due to my dissatisfaction. He explained that their pizzas are not day old, in fact they half baked in the morning and then later finished that afternoon/evening. I appreciated the clarification on that! I later popped by and placed a To-go order for one of their deep dish pizzas. This place was busy on that Friday evening, plan accordingly! They have a designated area pass the bar towards back for online/togo orders towards. The cashier was polite and helpful and gave good recommendations. The pizza itself was delicious, the crust you can tell is made in house (very pie like) however I do recommend eating it same night due to the sauce/tomatoes can make the crust a bit soggy (if you get the combo) all in all, Chicago fire has regained my business and I appreciate the special gift from Andrew! read more

Awesome service. Food was great. Was there with My daughter an her husband two of my grandchildren. I was a very nice time. The server never hovered, interacted with everyone at table. It was so nice an pretty quit while we ate. No over powering music or tv. Bathroom was amazingly clean. Only downside was nothing left to take home. I had to go back an get a small pie for that after midnight craving. read more

My family and I came on a Wednesday evening during Happy Hours and were seated immediately (very quiet). The waitress came to check on us quite often through the time we were there. The first thing that came out was our daughter's spaghetti & meatball - which she inhaled! Our buffalo garlic wings came out right after and I loved the flavor!!! It took awhile which we were informed ahead of time.. but our deep dish pizza eventually came out. I was too full after one slice of pizza and a few wings. read more

This place was terrible. Our pizza came very late, over an hour, and almost just before closing. It may not have been time to close, but it had been so long, it sure felt that way. Other patrons arrived after us, ate, and left before we got our food. When the food did arrive, one pizza was good, but the deep dish looked and tasted like a pile of refuse. Undercooked, toppings sloppy, and absent of style and flavor. My young daughter unfortunately couldn't control her hunger or attitude, and from the mouths of babes came truth, such as "where's our food?" "Why is it taking so long?" The one silver lining was my daughter's Shirley Temple - she thought that tasted amazing. But it was not enough to rehabilitate this review. The staff did not once apologize or explain the delay. I saw the manager apologize to another table, but apparently didn't consider our table to be deserving. This place has been around a long time, but I think it's past time it be shut down. Poor service, poor food, poor quality, and poor style - a restaurant like that should not stay in business. To top it all off, the deep dish caused digestive issues for my wife. read more

I love Chicago Pizza! The concept of this restaurant was born of the desire to enjoy the wonderful flavors and textures unique to Chicago Pizza myself, and also to share them with others. Researching Chicago Pizza and what makes it so special is somewhat of an obsession with me. I started making pizza after I moved to California from Chicago in 1986. This research is ongoing with trips to Chicago to taste pizza, interview restaurant owners and employees, meet with specialty food purveyors, as well as conduct a fair amount of corporate espionage (Dumpster Diving). Anyway, I have gone to great lenghts to make sure that the recipes, ingredients, equipment, and processes used here at Chicago Fire are in keeping with the way great pizza is made in Chicago. Whether he's running the kitchen like a true master or walking the dining room checking in with guests, his presence is constant. His wife is often by his side, and together they've built something that feels less like a restaurant and more like a family. The staff reflects that--welcoming, attentive, and genuinely warm. Now, the food. The chicken parmigiana is massive--easily two meals--and executed perfectly. The chicken is tender, well-seasoned, and balanced. We usually start with calamari or a shared salad, both consistently excellent. I'm especially particular about carbonara, and this is the only place in Sacramento that truly gets it right. No shortcuts. No cream. No smoked bacon. They respect the tradition--using proper ingredients like guanciale or pancetta and incorporating the egg the way it's meant to be. It's easily the best carbonara I've had in years. The arancini are another highlight. If you've ever made them at home, you know the effort involved--this is the real deal. Crispy outside, rich and flavorful inside, and absolutely authentic. The bread is baked fresh daily by Nick, and it shows. The pasta is artisan-quality, also made fresh, and sourced from a trusted local partner. Every detail reflects care and intention. Dessert is not an afterthought here. The tiramisu--made in-house--is flawless. And the cannoli? Outstanding. The shells have the perfect crunch, and the fillings are rich without being overpowering. Even the pizzelle cookies are done right. This is balanced, authentic cooking--where ingredients shine without being masked. I've been to Papa Gianni's in Cameron Park dozens of times over the years, and it's a great spot. We received our bread and appetizer, but then we waited...and waited. As the restaurant filled up, we watched table after table receive their meals, eat, and leave while we still had no entrées. The couple next to us arrived about 20 minutes after we did, received their food, sent it back because it wasn't good, got replacement meals, and still finished before we were ever served. Each time we asked about our food, we were simply told, "It's coming," while the staff avoided eye contact. After more than an hour, our food was finally brought out by the owner's son. His explanation was that our steak took a long time to cook. That's simply not believable. A steak doesn't take over an hour to prepare, especially when every other table around us had already been served. I would have respected an honest explanation far more than an obvious excuse. To make matters worse, the steak was thin, overcooked, chewy, and cold by the time it reached the table. The quality was nowhere near what we've come to expect from this restaurant. I told the owner's son that I was more upset about the dishonest explanation than the delayed food. We've been loyal customers and planned to keep coming back, but honesty and accountability matter. Instead of acknowledging what happened, the owner came out, pointed his finger in my face, and became defensive because I called out the excuse his son gave. Rather than apologizing or trying to make the situation right, he escalated it into an unnecessary confrontation. Everyone makes mistakes. Kitchens get backed up. Orders get lost. Customers are generally understanding when businesses are honest and take responsibility. What I can't overlook is being misled and then treated disrespectfully when I questioned it. Unfortunately, this was the worst dining experience we've ever had here, and unless the owners learn how to handle problems with honesty and professionalism, I can't recommend this restaurant.

The salads are great! and they are so affordable for anyone. just under $3 for a side salad which isnt that small at all. Its a generous size. I was very happy with the food there. My waiter was lazy. and i say lazy because i am a server and have been for years and have been in the restaurant industry for 15 years. I'm not gonna mention his name cause well, I dont want to talk bad about anyone but he was lazy. When he took away my salad place he put my dirty fork on the table instead of getting me a new one for my main course. He brought coffee with dessert like i asked but never asked if i wanted cream or sugar so i was sitting there for 5 minutes while my coffee got cold cause well, i dont like black coffee. Looked like he was busy but whatever - he could of asked for help. I better service when i sat at the bar and had dinner. Next time thats what i'll do again. Its really nice inside. We dined here on Friday, August 16, and while the food was undeniably great, a few aspects of our visit were disappointing. Upon arrival, we requested booth seating but were told that only a half-booth was available. We accepted this, but just minutes later, we overheard a group of four (the same size as our party) being told they could have a full booth if they waited a little. This inconsistency was frustrating. The ambiance was further marred by litter on the floor, which took some time for the staff to clean up. It was unsightly and detracted from the otherwise pleasant setting. To add to the frustration, our waiter made a couple of mistakes. First, the incorrect size of pasta was brought to our table. We were too hungry to wait for a replacement, so we decided to just go with it. Later, we ordered lemonade, but the waiter forgot about it, only bringing it to us toward the end of our meal. While the food was truly enjoyable, the service issues we encountered overshadowed what could have been a nice dining experience. While not completely like Chicago pizza I still really enjoyed this place. I took my lovely wife on a Friday night and the restaurant was jam packed. We had to wait about an hour before we were seated. But no big deal. Once we were seated we started off with a glass of vino. They had an excellent selection, and our waiter was very knowledgeable. We started off with an antipasto salad that was nice and fresh. While it was a bit pricey it was worth it. Plus, our pizza wouldn't be coming to our table for at least 30 minutes, so it was a good way to curb our hunger. I think we waited about 45 minutes for our pizza, which seemed excessive, but I understand good things come to those who wait. And boy am I glad we waited! The pizza was so delicious in it's own way. I can usually polish off a medium pizza alone, but was only able to eat 2 slices of this! it's so rich and simple all in one dish. The wait is about average, and the service is decent. Sometimes it took a while to get a waiter's attention, but they were busy when we came. For appetizer, we ordered the parmesan artichoke. I'm not really a fan of artichoke, but this was pretty damn good. Butter and cheese melted into the leaves that you pick one by one. The pizza itself was super thick and overstuffed with toppings - the way I love it. The sauce was the best pizza sauce I've ever tried: real tomatoes and seasonings. You can taste quality. The pizza only had 6 slices, but each slice is a meal in itself. The artichoke was about $7, the pizza ran about $20 or so. Definitely going back. read more

I came up to Sacramento for a concert and decided to stop somewhere for dinner before the concert started. I cam across Chicago Fire in my exploration and man was I happy to have stumbled upon this place! I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich, and in my opinion, was the most delicious sandwich I have ever consumed with buffalo chicken and ciabatta bread. The chicken was thick, not skimpy like other restaurants, juicy and had the perfect amount a buffalo sauce. We also ordered the spinach salad, which was sweet and savory. The service from their team was spectacular. Everyone worked together flawlessly and it seemed like everyone did a little bit of everyone's job. Very friendly and very professional. Definitely worth the two hour drive and I will be returning again! read more

wow! tell me that the "manager" peter.. at chicago fire ... just told me that he had seen some graffitti in his bathroom that looked similar to my doodling that i do on my napkins while im there.. and now he says im not allowed to that place that i used to visit frequently, just because he assumes it was me.. talk about profiling.. how racist. even when i said let me see what you are talking about.. he couldn't.. well chicago fire owners.. i think you should re evaluate who you have representing your company in such a diverse town, sooo un professionally. way to have someone who knows most of your clientele get to not like you and yelp and let everyone know what mistakes pete is doing.. everyone else there is on my "awesome" side.. :/ #love#hate read more

Hubby and I finally tried Chicago Fire! We started with the zucchini bites, and they did not disappoint! The zucchini was thick-cut, so it stayed nice and firm instead of getting soggy. The batter was incredibly crispy, flavorful, and seasoned just right. I would definitely order these again. Even after the drive home, they were still piping hot! For our pizza, we went with the white sauce, cheese, and bacon. The white sauce was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor without being too heavy. The crust had the perfect crispy bite, making every slice so satisfying. Take out service was quick and the restaurant is a vibe! Would definitely go back and dine in. Chicago Fire definitely lived up to the hype. We'll absolutely be back to try more! read more

Went here to get some dinner. I heard that the chicago combo and ceasar salad was great so I went for the waitress and asked for the order. Bot, she ignored me and passed right by me! Tried to call her back but she disappeared into another room! Rude! Good thing was another person came and attended to me. I asked for the Chicago combo and the ceasar salad and I really liked it. Striaght from the pan and sizzling, simply irresistible and delicious! Gave the poor guy a tip because i asked him for a whole pitcher of water If not for that rude girl I would have given this 4 -5 stars. But I hate how she treated me, so 3 stars that is. read more

This is the best pizza in Sac for deep or Chicago style. This is authentic, Giordano's style, stuffed pizza. I don't understand everyone loving the thin crust pizza, but whatever, to each his own. Giovanni's does the best thin crust, NY style hands down. All I know is that the stuffed is the way to go for me. $1 Pabst on tap for happy hour with some hotwings while you're waiting your mandatory 45 minutes prep. time on your pizza. Call in your pizza in advance if you're hungry, it will be hot and waiting when you get there. This place kicks Zelda's and their awful service right out of downtown. read more

This place doesn't even deserve a one star rating dined in the restaurant last night order the Chicago beef sandwiches came home and hour later and got completely sick my whole family was complaining about stomach pain and kept running to the restroom all night. Spoke to the manager today and he basically told me that he doesn't believe me and that there's nothing that he could do. didn't even offer for us to come back into the restaurant. I recommend if you want to eat at Chicago fire go to the one in Roseville or Elk Grove. Do not eat here unless you want to end up in the toilet!!! read more

Last weekend, my wife and I came to Chicago Fire last minute and sat at the bar. We were served by Jesse. He was quick, attentive and made us walk away at the end of our meal feeling served. (I don't think that about a lot of bartenders) Jesse made my wife a Vodka cocktail he recommended which she absolutely loved. It had orange juice, sprite and a splash of something else, but was delicious! Went out and ate with family about 8.00pm .We had about 20 min wait that was fine went to bar and had a drink.We had a deep dish and the wait was about 45 min thats avg for a deep dish pizza ,the pizza was ok a little undercooked and not a whole lot of cheese in the pizza the sausage was ok .If you want to try the best Chicago Pizza in Sacramento or Bay Area try Louies Chicago Style Pizza in Rocklin,CA .They are the real deal and thats the truth hands down...... read more

Hank ( Amazing Waiter) and Tyra (Hostess or server helping Hank) were wonderful. During a time when businesses have forgotten the importance of customer service, Chicago Fire was AMAZING! We ordered a deep dish veggie pizza and the staff mentioned above helped find something my VERY picky 13 year old would enjoy. We will definitely be back and my hope is not are working when I return. Had a great dinner at Chicago Fire tonight. We ordered the family-sized Caesar salad and 2 pounds of their delicious chicken wings. The wings were perfectly breaded with excellent flavor and cooked just right. The Caesar salad was fresh, generous, and perfect for sharing. I've been goung to chicago fire since i was a kid. The midtown loction is always my favorite to visit. With a chill atmosphere, welcoming staff such as Elizabeth and bartenders like Eric, I always enjoy my time at the bar. The pesto chicken sandwich or the baked rigatonis are my go-to's and pair well with their hand crafted cocktails. Besides the parking, whats not to love about the midtown location. read more

As a traveler that frequents the great pizza cities of this country, I was surprised to find a truly authentic Chicago-style pizza that can stand up to the greats of downtown Chicago pizzerias. I stopped by the Chicago fire on J street last week for a drink and some food and was blown away! The bartender Jesse recommended the wings and oh my goodness. I am a chicken wing aficionado and these were seriously the best wings I've ever had. Jesse did a great job of engaging with the entire bar top and made me a killer old fashion.
