Try this once so you could say you went to a "Guy Fieri" restaurant and I am sure you will probably never want to return here again. I was very disappointed by the taste of the chicken sandwich. I expected to be blown away because its Guy Fieri but chicken sandwich and fries were average....maybe even closer to below average. The workers here gave me the strangest looks. No one looked happy and I hate to say it, felt very "hood" and very serious. The big white girl brings out my to go order and dumps it on the table in front me. The food was not up to standards at this location. I've been to one in Disney Springs and also Aventura Florida (which sadly closed) and both of these locations were great so I was excited they opened one up in NYC. I did a take out order at this NYC location which was a big disappointment and will not go back. This was my first visit to a Chicken Guy. It was a Thursday at 12:30pm. I placed my order at the kiosk. It was a bit confusing as to where I should wait since there is a Kiosk area for orders to Go but I'm dining in. Anyway, the employee found me and handed me my milkshake and said my sandwich will be delivered to me. Other diners who ordered with a human received a number at the counter and took it to a seat. I enjoyed my meal while watching the Food Network on television and remembering the music that plays near the entrance but not in the dining area. The Bourbon Brown Sugar BBQ sandwich was fine but sloppy due mainly to the flimsy bun. The vanilla shake was a little too watery. I prefer a bit more thickness where I have to work for my treat. There were not many people going into this location and it made me question my boys' request to go there for lunch. This was the least expensive lunch of our trip. In direct comparison to Gordon Ramsay Fish right around the corner, this place is better and almost 50% less expensive! (We really liked the Gordon in DC but NYC wasn't as good and was crazy $$$). Chicken Guy - the Fried Chicken Dumplings and the Bourbon Brown Sugar BBQ chicken sandwich and the fries were all great choices - truly tasty and we wished there were more of each of those items!! This place just opened across from my office and coworkers and I decided to check it out, and it ended up being so disappointing. We ordered ahead of time on their site for pick up but there are kiosk and a counter to order in person. This place is definitely a take out spot given I don't recall seeing anywhere to sit and eat your food. I got the O.G. Combo (replaced fries/soft drink with fried pickle chips/milkshake which both were an additional cost) and added the American Slaw. The tenders in the sandwich were so dry and there wasn't enough special sauce. Something was off with the batter/the oil used for the fried pickle chips since it was not good alone, and only tasted somewhat okay with the buttermilk ranch sauce. The American Slaw was bland which was unfortunate. The only items that were enjoyable were the fries and milkshake. Since it's relatively new, the staffs are still ironing things out (e.g., they said no sauce came with my fried pickle chips (good thing I checked) but I had to point out to them that buttermilk ranch comes with it as stated on the menu). I almost had to pay extra for it if I didn't check the menu. Also, they only give you one ketchup packet which I think is absurd if you have a whole box of fries to eat. Chicken Guy is a dust covered culinary purgatory. I have never felt less after leaving a restaurant. Every single thing on the menu is covered in what is seemingly an 8,000 spice blend dust. It's sweet, it's savory and it makes every bite absolutely indiscernible from the next. The fries, the tenders, the appetizers, they all taste exactly the same. At a certain point you do not know what you are ingesting and fear washes over your tastebuds. This place isn't bad and it isn't good it's almost as if it doesn't exist. Today both myself and my coworkers had issues with their orders upon arriving.
