I had a great experience for my first time. Just moved to town a few months ago so I've been on the hunt for great local spots. I ordered via telephone for pick up and order was ready in about 20-25mins. Don't expect homemade dipping sauces or anything like that. I believe prices and portions are fair; and the gentleman who helped me out was friendly and welcoming. We got the chicken cutlet, fish and chips, and popcorn shrimp. What you see is what you get - homestyle fried chicken is what I saw and I knew I wanted it. There are no frills, no flair, just good fried foods. Stepping in to the restaurant is like taking a step back in time with it's 90's decor; wallpaper and quirky chicken decorations on every wall. We opted for 10 chicken fingers and an order of onion rings and this was plenty for the two of us for this rainy, hungover, Sunday lunch. We barely waited 15 minutes even with the busy lunch rush for our order. What a huge disappointment. I used to go to Chicken Holiday in Bayville NJ and it was the best ever. Three years since I sold that house and decided to try this one in Bridgewater since I was craving fried chicken. It took my husband 40 minutes there and back to get there. Never ever again. Nothing like the one I remembered. This was way, way salty, overcooked, dried out and just not good eats. The salty crust didn't even stick to the chicken. The coleslaw wasn't that good either. Tried this place last night. Seemed busy with call ahead orders. Crew was attentive and friendly. Unfortunately my chicken wasn't very good. Either the oil being too hot, cooking it too long, or a combination of both led to my chicken tub being overcooked and dry. I'll try it again in a bit and see if they do better. read more

It is with tremendous disappointment that I write this review. After patronizing this store regularly since the 1980s, I witnessed something I just cannot let go. As I pulled up in front of the store today, about to get my order, I witnessed the manager (I dunno, he's there all the time, though) spray insecticide just below the front windows of the store, then go behind the counter without stopping to wash his hands. He put the container down, just feet from the food prep area. I asked, "Do you put that on the chicken?" to which he replied, "No, just regular maintenance." Too bewildered and saddened to do or say anything else, I completed the transaction. Figuring this has been going on for years without my knowledge, I enjoyed the delicious meal (maybe the pesticide explains the flavor?), but I will not patronize Chicken Holiday in Bridgewater ever again. I did a Yelp search for fried chicken, and the results came up with everything from chinese food to my local bagel shop. I now know where three of them are. I think they are all similar. This is a basic take-out place, though they do have a half dozen tables. Basic decor, fluorescent lights, order counter, fridge with drinks, sports on tv. They have a pretty varied menu, but honestly I've never had anything but the chicken (and fries.) Good basic - crunchy on the outside - juicy on the inside - meaty good sized pieces - and you can tell which part of the bird they are - chicken. It's a mild coating, but delicious. Doesn't overpower the chicken like 11 herbs & spices or cajun fast food does. It's what they call pressure fried, which keeps the moisture from steaming off and leaves it drip down your chin juicy. Not greasy mind you. Juicy. Of course there's some grease involved. It's fried chicken. The also carry fries, mashed potatoes, potato salad, cole slaw, dinner rolls, chicken fingers, fish, ribs, sandwiches, and a bunch more. Read the menu for that. Its online. I can't vouch for that stuff, I haven't eaten it. But remember this place for fried chicken. It's like an escape to fried chicken heaven. It's a Chicken Holiday! (ha ha) read more

I have tried this location a number of times. The food is inconsistent. As of late it has had an odd, greasy taste. The final nail for me was the lack of use of gloves or masks. I had 2 issues: #1, the buffalo wings had the same fried chicken batter/flavor as the whole chicken pieces. They don't even have boxes to put your food in when you get takeout - the chicken is sandwiched between two stapled-together plates that you have to make sure stays parallel on your drive home.
