It was a rainy/chilly Monday so my wife was craving some juicy chicken & ribs from Chicken Lovers to spice up her day. We've tried this place thousands of times so we know the food tastes pretty good. But this time, we had a very bad experience. For starters, we were hoping to order for delivery because one of my wife's friends ordered it the other day and got it delivered. But, I guess we live just outside their zone of delivery (Fresh Meadows) so that was unfortunate. We ordered for pickup instead. We ordered one of the most popular combos (1/2 Chicken + 1/2 Ribs combo with 2 sides). I completed the payment for pickup & it estimated about 50-55 mins (which you can see in my pic the est time for pickup SHOULDVE been 6:34pm). Now..An hour wait for food is already pushing it... but when I went to pickup the order at 6:30pm, the order hadn't even gotten started. It's as if they completely ignored the online order because it seems nothing was labeled nor written when we got there. So it took another half an hour-45 min until we finally got our food and left. Very unacceptable. They didn't even apologize or offer anything to make up for it. Their food was alright. Perfect for hungry folks who want some meat & sides plus some good green sauce. Comes with some flatbread as well. We probably wouldn't come back again for a long time until they fix their timing/customer service issues. read more

About time I finally crossed this bookmark off my list. My parents drove past this spot so many times and I chose today "thee most hottest day" to try it out. As I was walking in and saw to my right behind the glass that there was an assembly line of grilled chicken. You can choose from Family Meals, Lunch Specials, Combos, and etc. I decided to go with F1. Whole Chicken w/3 large sides ($19.99 + tax)...Mac 'n' Cheese (super cheesy mmm), Yellow Rice (cooked with white onions and bay leaf...very aromatic and yummy), and Mashed Potatoes (you can not mess up this simple dish). The cashier took down my order on a post-it which included my name and the three sides that I want. I didn't really wait too long to get my take-out and I asked for extra green sauce. I love how they added a layer of foil to the foam take-out box to prevent the chicken from getting cold fast along with two grilled pitas. Ooooo *hubba hubba* I love the flavor from the seasoning and herbs that were coated on the chicken skin. I am very particular about my chicken...I only love the wings and thigh mmmm!! The Chicken here at Chicken Lover's is awesome all the time. I usually order the whole chicken. Sometimes I'll order the mashed & red potatoes on the side, but very rare. It's mainly for takeout. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is because the waiting times lately have been very long, sometimes over an hour. The charcoal grill gives the chicken & ribs a great flavor. The lady Chati (not sure if that's the right spelling), at the front cashier is great & very nice. I gotta give it to her because she has a lot of patience & this place can get very busy. Chicken and ribs are consistently great. Sides are unremarkable but very consistent -- which makes them reliable and therefore pretty good for what you pay. The one star is for the fact that on the last 3 occasions + I've witnessed it happen to other people as well, the cashier basically assumes whatever amount of cash they are given is for their keeping. I understand the demand is high and they are busy, but what kind of unspoken rule doesn't return change to their customers? The lady at the register always takes your money, and regardless of how much overage she is handed, says "thank you", doesn't offer change back, and expects you to leave. Best chicken place I've ever tried. The quality of Chicken Lovers is consistently good. You know what to expect once you get there: delicious, juicy chicken, great sides, and magical green sauce. The ribs here are also pretty good, but the chicken is the star. I always get chicken (either 1/2 or 1/4), corn, and either broccoli (if I'm feeling healthy) or rice (if not). Expect a pretty long wait for your food though, since just the same amount of people order for pick up as those who order in the resraurant. The wait can get absurdly long, even on weekdays, but that doesn't bother me enough to warrant any less than five stars. One issue I have is the use of styrofoam for both dine-in and take-out customers. There's no reason to do this for dine-in customers, and it just tacks on more waste. Again, this isn't enough for me to deduct a star, because I just love the food here so much, but I just wish they could be a little bit more eco-conscious. I have been going to Chicken Lovers since I was in High School and the service as well as the food as been very consistent and delicious every time. I'm not a big rib eater but when it comes to Chicken Lovers, I always prefer to order the ribs instead of the chicken and the meat always just falls off the bone. The customer service is amazing. When I walked in, I was welcomed very enthusiastically and there is no delay in ordering. They also take orders online via their website. I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs with the sides of Mash and Corn which came to a total of $21.00. The portion size is huge so I always share it.  I also got extra green sauce with no additional charge. There is also an outdoor dining area with a parking lot. There is no wait staff so you get to choose any seat you like and there's no need to tip if you decide to sit and eat your food there. There was no problem with my order at all today but I noticed that even in the past, if there was a problem with the order or even just a lack of supply, the company would make it up without me needing to state anything. For example, once I tried to order ribs but they were completely out so I just got the chicken. When I got my order, I was shocked to see the chicken order but also another box filled with ribs which I did not get charged for. All in all, I would recommend Chicken Lovers without blinking an eye. The food has been consistent and delicious for years. The customer service is absolutely amazing. One of my most favorite local spots in Queens. They have gotten quite popular over the years that even when you order and there's no many people there, you'll still end up waiting quite a while because they're receiving orders through the phone. There is very limited parking right in front but you can find some parking within the neighborhood. They also got rid of their high table seating and have all regular tables now. The only con is that there is no heat during the winter so it's cold inside and they have some heating fans on the floors. There's also no AC in the summer either. The price increased slightly for their lunch special to $11 but it's still a great deal! They pack the sides into the box as much as possible and top it with a grilled pita bread along with your choice of meat. Both the chicken and ribs are chargrilled to perfection and taste absolutely delicious. They also have the most amazing green sauce to pair with the meal which adds so much flavor. I literally put the sauce on everything (meat, pita bread, rice, other sides, all)! Honestly all of the sides are pretty good. The rice is my absolute favorite side! I don't know how, but it's super flavorful. The mac and cheese is always dry but add green sauce and anything can be bomb. The mashed potatoes are super creamy and literally just melts in your mouth. Came here on a Saturday during lunch time. Placed order online at 12:14PM, with ready time at 1:04PM. Arrived at 12:40, checked on status at 12:50 and found out they didn't even know about my order. Food was ready at 1:18, one hour after order placed, while walk in customer was told wait time is 25-35 minutes. I specified all that, because they don't seem to have the online ordering work out well. I see plenty of chicken cooked and put away in warming trays, I don't get how they couldn't put my order together while at it. Somewhere down the line, the streamline is loss; or perhaps it's under a new management. Now let's talk about the food, I ordered chicken & ribs combo. I mentioned there's chicken already cooked and put into warming tray, I feel that's the reason it was a bit cold, and not as warm as the ribs coming off the grill. The meat was also a bit dry. Meanwhile, the ribs are coated in very flavorful sauce, but the inside is lacked of flavor. Been coming here for over three years. This place is a staple in bayside, and people come from all over to visit this place! The woman in front of me told me she was visiting from Florida and was gonna bring this chicken all the way home! Thats crazy. The chicken itself is remarkable. With all the positive reviews on Yelp, Chicken Lovers caught my attention. The restaurant is popular for its charcoal grilled chicken and ribs. However, it's honestly not worth the hype, so don't be fooled by all these reviews. Their clientele enjoy the prices rather than the overrated food. The chicken tasted average, the skin was flavorful but the meat was bland. The sides were a huge disappointment. The mac n cheese tasted like it came from a school cafeteria and the corn tasted like it came directly from a can. It's nothing compared to authentic Colombian/Peruvian chicken. If you care about basic hygiene, you'll find the restaurant to be extremely unsanitary. The place has garbage everywhere and appears to never have been cleaned since they opened their doors. The cashier handles some of the food preparation and the money without ever washing their hands. You could call this place a hole in the wall, but the food has to be somewhat decent. Now if you still decide to order from Chicken Lovers after reading my review, I HIGHLY recommend that you place your order in advance. Based on my recent experience, the restaurant is disorganized and cannot handle multiple orders at once. To give you rough estimate, I waited approximately 45 minutes for my order even though there were only a few other people waiting inside the restaurant. Would I recommend Chicken Lovers to others? The indoor is rickety looking and not the best place to bring 1st dates on if you're trying to make a good impression. Listen up! If you want to ensure you get your grilled chicken/ribs DO NOT try to place a phone order after 745pm regardless for delivery or pick up. They will not pick up the phone, order way earlier because all the grilled food is sold out by 8:00 pm. They close the grill at 8:30 PM . Parking is tight and limited in the shared strip mall parking lot. There is street Parking on Northern Blvd but obey the signs since no cars are allowed to park between 4-7pm. My thoughts were so many yelpers cannot be wrong about this place and I was right, they were not wrong. This place was tasty fantastic shut the front door I may never cook chicken again. When I walked in the place was packed with the tables of people full of food and lip smacking happening. I ordered the family meal which was a whole chicken chargrilled and three large sides. They also give you this wasabi mayo stuff in your to go back and then the surprise 2 large pieces of grilled pita bread. The chicken was juicy, hot and delicious. It tasted like you went to a friends house to a barbecue and the friend could actually cook chicken. Lots of crispy skin if that's your thing. The chicken in packed fully chopped into all the regular pieces so you do not have to go all ninja warrior when you get home. Its easy to dish out the portions of chicken and the pieces are nice and large. This is no small chicken. The sides I choose tonight were the Mac n Cheese, Green Beans and Corn. Mac n Cheese - Nice and cheesy, macaroni very well done but not mushy. This side was a definite reorder when I come back here again. Did it have a crispy crusty top of cheese, no, but it was creamy and good and I did not miss the crispy crust which I want on high end Mac n Cheese at a restaurant. String Green Beans - These were really well seasoned and there were a few red peppers floating here and there in the broth. I did get the end of the evening batch so the beans were extra limp, but I am from the south and we like our string beans cooked for hours with ham, so the extra cooking was a plus for me. If you do not like overly cooked beans you might not like the beans, but they were very good and a definite reorder possibility for my next visit. Corn - Its corn and most would say it was just niblet corn, but this corn was super sweet, maybe they cook it with some sugar (like southerners who want the corn a bit sweeter), anyway, the corn was good and it was G approved. I usually get the corn for him since its it one of his favorites. The other sides which were available tonight were sweet potatoes and baked potato pieces with what looked like rosemary seasoning on them. The place was so busy that there was a line of cars waiting to get into the very small parking lot. The take out business here is off the charts and the delivery guy was in and out while I was there. This place was a home run for tasty food. If you are looking for ambiance this is not the place but if you want some good home cooking then definitely stop by, and just pay no attention to the stacks of stuff they have in the vestibule area. I think this place just does not have room for all the stuff and the front vestibule is considered a storage area. Who cares, the food is good. I will try the ribs next time and as long as they are as good as the chicken, then this place will score a 5, but for now I am giving it a 4. Its awesome!
