I had an experience with the waitresses that really left a bad taste in my mouth. I always come and get water cups but lately I noticed a sign that says no soda or salsa in the cups. I don't mind that because I don't do that anyway. This particular time I got a drink and two cups of water. I got a cup holder to hold them all. The shorter cashier with light eyes sent the other one to check to see if I had just water in the cups. Since I had only water AND don't steal AND I've been coming there for a while I was offended. I even asked her if she went to check to see if I just had water in there. She just said what and I walked away. This was completely uncalled for. Even if I did have some soda or salsa in there you don't have to come from behind the counter to check. And them checking on me is the same as someone watching you like a hawk in the store. I don't steal and I don't appreciate being treated like that especially when I'm a paying customer. I don't shop at places that do that and I won't eat at them either. It's a shame that businesses hire ignorant people who run their customers away. The food quality is also slipping. They used to put enough cheese on the tacos and now there's hardly any. I used to ask for more cheese on my tacos because I know how skimpy they've gotten. In my pictures you can clearly see the difference. They also make the fish tacos way too hot now. I've been getting them for years and at this location they put too many chopped jalapenos on there or whatever they put that makes it too hot. Management needs to inform their employees to not treat the customers like thieves and make sure the cooks aren't skimping on the cheese like it's coming out of their paychecks. Torrance Food Crawl #15 For some decent, quick Mexican food this Chili Verde location is worth checking out. I like that it's usually not crowded, parking is convenient, food quality is consistent, and it's generally pretty good. I can't say I'm too impressed with the menu choices, it's very similar to other places without any distinctive items. This time I went with a wet Carnitas Burrito. It's a good sized burrito. There was ample meat and it seemed very tasty, a little more so than other times I've had it. The small side bar has a couple of salsas and a few other items, all of which seemed fresh but not very exciting. Food's pricey for what you get and although it's not too bad, it's also not that great. Crunchy tacos are 2.49/ea & 1.00 over priced IMO. Why is the Mild salsa so darn hot? Used to be great but the new added heat is too much and ruin this restaurant for me.

I've been a VERY regular customer (usually 3-4 orders per week) of Chile Verde for the last few years now... I had posted a five-star review but I've now changed it to one star, because the Owner(s) of Chile Verde decided to get cheap on their customers and charge if you want more than 3 grilled jalapeños and 2 salsa containers per order... What the?!? Smh... This wouldn't be as big of a deal if their salsa containers and jalapeños weren't as small as can possibly be... Their jalapeños are the size of serano peppers so you need 3 of them to equal the normal size of a jalapeño. Jalapeños and salsa are cheap and for the amount that you charge per meal (a little high), you should be providing as many jalapeños and salsa as any of your customers wish... For some of us, the grilled jalapeños and good salsa, make or break the business we bring to you... This was a dealbreaker for me so I'll be talking my business elsewhere from now on... To other Mexican restaurants who don't charge extra for sides... Smh. Bad move. read more

The prices are good, the service is excellent (the staff is unfailingly polite & helpful on a weekend afternoon) & the food is freshly made, hearty & tasty. I go to this location very often and like to order ahead so I can just pick up my food. I found that lately they either dont pick up the phone or put you on hold and dont pick up again, and when I get to the restaurant the cashier is just standing behind the counter with no customer in sight and I am still on hold on my cell phone. I was on hold for 13 minutes. Management needs to do something about this. My kids like the food and that is why I continue going there, but not if this continues. read more

I placed an online catering order from this place several weeks ago. Both order were cancelled and when I called, I was told because they were having technical difficulties but I would be refunded ASAP. It's been almost a month now and no refund. I do not understand why this is taken so long. They have confirmed my orders were cancelled, so why have I not gotten my money back. I have called several times and nothing. This is unacceptable and not a good way to run a business and service your customers. This is being handled poorly by the owner and I would never order from here again. I was disappointed and this made me immediately head out without making any purchases because the drink that I wanted was not available at the time of my visit. Went here for lunch today and it was surprisingly dead! Works for us as we were in a rush anyways. We got a burrito supreme and a soup and a salad tostada. Everything was good...not great. Baja Fresh is much better than here. I think their food is rather bland...really nothing too exciting...and a little high priced for what you get. It's clean and the service is friendly enough. My last stop in California was a bittersweet lunch date at Chile Verde with my very close friend. I was sad so I wasn't too hungry. As I have indicated in previous reviews, I don't travel well, and if I don't have a pill to knock me out, I usually end up drinking large quantities of booze. Knowing I was about to board a plane, my stomach wasn't much for spicy food, but I ate it anyway. I was even too depressed to take a photo of my burrito. It all was brought full-circle with the affordable Mexican food. I made the servers put some kind of cheese sauce over my carne asada burrito. It wasn't what I thought it would be. In fact, it had little if any flavor. There was a condiment bar with all the pico de gallo to pile on your lunch to your heart's content. The salsas they offer are excellent. The tables are tiny, but I made sure we sat next to the condiments so I didn't have to travel far for more toppings if I needed them. There isn't much in the way of ambiance, and again the customers here seemed to have a staring problem. Perhaps it was due to the disgusted look I was giving this one guy's daughter who was wearing short shorts with her cheeks hanging out and a shirt with her bare back exposed. She might have been 16 if that. Her father caught me glaring in shock. I guess that's the norm anywhere these days. I think that if you order food here, you should definitely take it to go, even if it means you get stiffed on the pico de gallo. read more

This place is our go to spot for lunch on taco tuesdays! The hard shell chicken and ground beef tacos are bomb and you can get 3 tacos and chips for less than $5 bucs and load up on the home made salsa, it's what makes the tacos stand out!!!. So I gave this place another try and when I showed up at 8 pm they were mopping and cleaning with dirty rags and a dirty mop while they were still open. I asked if they were closing they said no not till 9. Well they gave me the wrong order I imagine they didn't want to make any moree chicken so they gave me ground beef and I don't eat beef. I paid for what I wanted and they gave me what they wanted. When I called to complain they basically said nothing and I asked to have the owner call me but of course that never happen. It's really disgusting to be mopping in a restaurant while preparing food, but these young kids just wanted to get cleaned and leave right at closing g instead of waiting until they close to clean. I won't go back there and if the other restaurants they own are run like this then I'll pass altogether. So I went back into this place to see if I could talk to the owner and they again were mopping the floors while people were sitting and dining I'm done with this and called the health department!!!! J & I walked in maybe 30 minutes before closing. The place was empty but the lady cashier was more than welcoming. She took our order and even though I felt a little uncomfortable walking in half an hour before closing, we chose to sit down anyway. Our food was brought out to us in a timely manner and she even walked it over (yay for service!). I ordered two asada soft tacos & one shrimp soft taco. J ordered the wet burrito. For starters, I guess I'm used to the soft tacos being the size of the tacos from the taco trucks. Those little mini delicious things? Yeah, so I calculated my meal size incorrectly and I couldn't finish it. Lol. Both of our meals came with a side of chips (double yay!) and the tacos have guac inside. I have to say, I was most pleased. Except when I bit into the shrimp taco-- my mouth was instantly on fire and my eyes watered up... Yeaaaaah, so I don't do well with spiciness and I do worse with surprise spiciness.. Anyway, I couldn't venture out to take another bite of the shrimp taco. All I could taste was the mighty jalapeño hidden neatly inside. Overall, it was great. I'd rate the place 3 stars because my soft tacos started falling apart almost the moment I unwrapped them (what's worse than soggy tacos? :[) BUT because of the excellent customer service we received, I'm bumping it up to a 4. The lady working there never rushed us out and was even kind enough to take our plates when we were done and hand us a bag for my leftovers even though it was 5 minutes before closing. This has been one of my worst experiences there carne asada is horrible. It is so chewy no flavor, I was so disappointed. This is my first time trying any Chile Verde & It's very upsetting that they couldn't even provide the quality I was looking for or too call themselves a "Mexican restruant" also I was looking for they Lepe Mix which they should be selling in ALL LA LOCATIONS & they had it in the restruant & had the OKAY to sell it too me but chose not too. Terrible customer service. My company has ordered food frequently from Chili Verde. As of late, they NEVER get the order right. Today was the last straw. I ordered from their catering menu with a cashier whom I had to repeat everything to 5 times and not for lack of speaking clearly or loud enough. This person was just not meant for customer service. Cool finally finished the order and waited. Sent two of my team members to pick up our order and bring it back. Food gets here only to find out, once again, they've screwed up the order. I've never locked up a fuss with them before but this time was enough. I immediately get on the phone to call them only to be immediately put on hold for 20 minutes, after the obscenely long wait time I was hung up on before getting to speak to anyone. I tried to call back and received a dial up tone each time. Like really? Who still has dial up!? Finally reached a human and she tells me that she isn't at fault and she was too busy to talk to me so she will have to call me back later, after which she asked my number and hung up. Finally got a call back from someone who tells me that she apologizes and can offer me a partial refund on the food I didn't get only but I will have to come in and pick it up on cash. She then told me I could get the corrected food if I bring in the incorrect food. Let's just stop and think about that for a second. I had called earlier to tell them I had the incorrect food (2 hours earlier) why not say that then? Why would I tell my whole company they could not eat the incorrect food and place lunch on hold for an additional hour while the restaurant gets their shot together? Why would I place two trays of food aside and tell the whole company they can't touch this food till the caterers finally pick up or call back? Where the hell is the logic? So going back. The person that called me finally says okay I can give you a refund of the incorrect placed order but you have to come in and pick it up? So your company uses an electronic card reader to take payments but you won't give the refund back electronically? Corporate should really take a look at how your handling your till. Obviously there is some under the table sneakiness. The person I spoke with (who refused to give me her name) said okay I will call the manager to clear that and give you a call back. Five minutes later I get a call back and this chick tells me sorry I can't give you any refund. The manager says you took the food so you can't have a refund. So if I took the food and there was a hair in it could I receive a refund? Or would I still have received this same run around? Next stop is the corporate FB page and corporate Twitter. read more

Overall the food was really good, but they were a little stingy with their pico de Gallo salsa. They came through on 4th of July when my caterer was a no show. We ordered carnitas, asada & chicken- 3 foot burritos. They were yummy and we were given plenty of salsa, delicious guacamole and plenty of chips. The staff was very nice and did the best possible to have them ready for us on a short notice and holiday.
