Who knew!? That we would end up having such a fabulous dinner at the local Chilis here in Austin. We arrived into town late, so where do you go when you want to dine late and have a cocktail? That's right, Chili's! And they did not disappoint! The drink specials they were offering were right on point! We ended up having a few of those Titos Watermelon Spritz drinks because they were so good. My husband ordered the Ultimate Smokehouse combo and I had the guiltless steak dinner with asparagus which were cooked perfectly. I was very pleased with my dinner and cocktails. Our waitress was so super friendly and gave us the best service despite our late arrival. Ambiance, is typical Chili's - very welcoming.

    Closed Easter Week???

We were here last week. The portions were relatively large, and the food was good, except the person preparing the to-go order included no plastic-wear. It wasn't a big deal because the hotel next door that we are staying at had disposable plastic wear for their buffet. Just a reminder for their team. We returned this week and the dining room is closed all week, with no explanation given, see picture. But, they do have to-go service, so their kitchen is not out of service, nor were they shut down for a health violation. How strange, and disappointing. So I called and asked the employee who answered why they are closed all week. She said she didn't know and was snotty...come on. Update: Ok, we returned to the Drury Hotel next door and went here to eat. Closed again!...3 weeks in a row. What is going on?

I only use this Chili's for take out, so that is the basis of my review. My specification requests are taken care of most of the time (extra ranch, salsa on the side, etc.) All items for the meals typically are there (I've been shorted tortilla chips more than once). I'm always pleased with how well packaged the food is. As for taste, the food has always been standard Chili's fare, completely acceptable but not particularly notable.

So when I first walked in the host was amazing she greeted and sat us as soon as we walked in but than we waited for a little bit for a server but I understood that because there was a big table but when he came up to the table he didn't introduce or nothing than while we were seeing what we wanted to order for him to take down he walked away to a different table without say anything or excusing his self. When are chips and salsa came it was like a hit or miss with the chip you could tell that the grease was old!!!,but than are food had came and I ordered the triple dipper and my sliders were pink in the middle all the way like they we're barely cooked and my sister in law order the 3forME Sirlion Steak and she asked for it to be WELL done and it looked like they only had it cooking on one side bc it was burned. Worst experience ever would never go back and do not recommend

    The actual shrimp tacos

I came to this establishment a bit after 3PM with another quest. When we arrived at this establishment, we were ignored by the host for at least 10 minutes. Once we were seated, we were greeted by our server who seemed attentive. We ordered the following: Bottomless chips and salsa The salsa seemed to be "off" in the sense that it was peppery and not flavorful. I've had the salsa at Chill's many times but this particular batch lacked flavor. Cup of Southwest Chicken soup The soup was tasteless and lukewarm. There was maybe one sliver of chicken in the soup. "Shrimp tacos" I ordered the shrimp tacos, but got chicken tacos. So back the first round of tacos went. I waited approximately 13 minutes for my new tacos to be sent to me. When the shrimp tacos did arrive, the beans that accompanied it were cold. Southern Smokehouse Burger The fries for the burger were under-cooked. The burger patty itself was grilled but was unseasoned. I will not return because of lack of attention to detail and poor food quality.

This spot is easily a good failsafe bet in having a good time and connecting. Very central in Austin and right off of I35. I'm always intrigued by the Texas reuben and almost always get that. The wife got the smoked turkey sandwich w/ avocado. Both are great to be honest and you can see the fresh sourdough bread they make in house for the sandwiches. THE FINAL BAMBOO: The cost for two items was around $50. Ol reliable when it comes to a place that you want to chillax with the kids/friends and have some great sandwiches.

Had not been to this restaurant in a good while, and was a last minute decision. Good choice. The whipped feta is always a treat -- light and creamy with a solid feta taste, but not overpowering, served with a few orange slices and thinly sliced almonds, and pita. Special dish! Beet salad excellent, but the Fresno peppers had way too much heat, so pushed them to side. My wife had the Moroccan curry, which had a very spot on Moroccan flavor (been there 3x), and was a large, filling portion so brought home leftovers. I had the grilled pork chop which was large, perfectly grill with a tasty bourbon-based glaze, served with a large roasted garlic clove. Wonderful dish. My wife had a white wine that she enjoyed and my martini, slightly dirty with olives (to start) was a large pour and very smooth. Enjoyable meal in a nice setting once again ...

This place is so intoxicating from the aqua blue color palate and funky green art work to the alluring lighting and huge metal plate (looks like something from a ship...also their logo). My brother said the green artwork looked like broccoli. My brother ordered the Idaho trout with coconut rice and Brussel sprouts. I sampled his food and it was all good. The standout was the Brussel sprouts...crispy with this absolutely delicious drizzle. I ordered the Mezze plate with a flavor explosion and many desirable texture. It had lamb kabobs, fresh salad (emphasis on fresh) with thinly sliced cucumbers, finely sliced onions and creamy feta (never had creamy feta), red round sweet peppers, hummus with the most delightful pesto like sauce, and olives. The bar is appointed well enough, and while the bartenders are a bit sloppy in their mixology and prep (rim salter filled while still wet = clumpy salt; juices everywhere), they were friendly enough and got the orders right. The food was promptly served. I ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer (the only thing I thought would be a small enough quantity and cheap at $5). I also ordered the chimichurri steak tacos. You get three of those in the typical three slot holder, decent portions. The chips were good. The salsa looks like it was heavy on tomatillos instead of tomatoes, but had good flavor and acceptable spice. The tacos. They were flavorful. But the flavors were overpowered by the quantity of SALT. I could hear Gordon Ramsay in my head shouting "This is so salty it would kill a horse!". I LOVE salty savory things, but it pushed my limits - yes I ate them anyway, in part because I was hungry and tired. I think part of the problem was they used a dusting of parmesan to add a touch to the presentation, and it did elevate the tacos, but when you prep a dish like this you have to remember that salt is additive. The steak strips are salted. The chimichurri has salt. Parmesan is one of the saltier cheeses. Accidentally over-salt the steaks and you're quickly in trouble. Oh, the atmosphere? An industrial hipster bar wanna-be in a hotel lobby. OK as far as hotel bars, but not one I'd go out of my way to visit.

Rosé Gosé (note accents) is in an unassuming Airport Blvd location (right next to Jewboy Burgers, an Austin favorite). It is run by a couple from Belarus that came here right after Covid to open up a restaurant, with a sister in Minsk. Defying expectations, the menu is not Balkan at all. If anything, there is a strong Asian influence with poke bowls and a lot of seafood. But the menu also offers beef tartare on their raw bar menu, as well as a steak offering and grilled chicken. It's a diverse and adventurous menu, all the way from small plates to hefty mains and vegetable sides. For the dessert, try the pavlova, a meringue confection stuffed with coconut mousse and topped with lime sorbet and a grapefruit slice sidecar. Everything is superbly presented, and unquestionably fresh and healthy without veering into twigs and berries territory. The cocktail menu is also playful, with a lot of nontraditional glassware and slight spins on popular drinks; their version of a Paloma uses prosecco instead of a splash of soda. The servers are all dressed in rosé jumpsuits and very attentive. The space is amiable and elegant without being pretentious. The table spacing is a little close, so that conversations carry between guests. The table setting has some nice touches, like the little wooden bench that holds your fork and knife off the table. In European fashion, water can be asked for but it won't be served with ice. Plan on taking your time and enjoying course after course.

Rosé Gosé was a delightful Mother's Day lunch spot. It is a whole vibe, and it is uniquely French! When we walked in an artist was playing romantic music on his keyboard, which set the tone for the brunch. It is a small restaurant inside with a larger area of seating on the patio. Of course, our reservations were inside in the comforts of air conditioning. You immediately notice a wine wall hence the name Rosé Gosé. The restaurant has many windows which provide lots of natural light. The tables house miniature yellow roses and utensils sat in a small wooden block...very French. All the servers were dressed in mauve clothing that resemble scrubs from a hospital. If someone stepped out in a French beret, I would have fallen over. Our server, Sergey, immediately served us water and took our order. The restaurant was highlighted as a modern European bistro. The atmosphere was charming, elegant, and stylish making it ideal for a Mother's Day brunch. My hubby ordered a ribeye, eggs and French Fries. I ordered the avocado toast with salmon and egg whites. While I'm not a huge red meat eater, I tasted a piece of the hubs ribeye and it was nicely prepared. My avocado toast was yummy to the nth degree! Everything was perfect. The avocado was precisely cut and at the right level of softness. The salmon was chopped into tiny little squares and so enjoyable to eat. We could not be more pleased. With a name like Rosé Gosé you would expect their drinks to be superb. My hubby ordered a hibiscus tea, which was delightful. I ordered a mimosa that had high quality ingredients and was perfectly balanced...so smooth. We were also pleased with the drinks. This was the first time at Rosé Gosé, however, it definitely will not be the last.
