We have frequented this location many times. In the past, it has been hit or miss. Sometimes the service and food are great, other times the service was terrible. We have noticed an improvement the past couple of times. Hopefully, this is good sign of things to come. We came here to check out their new variety of Chicken Crispers. They were very good, plus they are on the Two for $22 menu, which is a great deal! Two full sized entrees with an appetizer. The fiery pepper is delicious! The young man serving us, was attentive and very friendly. There was a bit of a wait for our food. Not the servers fault at all and the fries were way over cooked. Still, a very enjoyable experience. I wish there was a way to give 0 stars for this location. I do not know if our server was incompetent or if the manager is scamming. My husband and I were charged $2.89/each for 2 waters. TAP water - almost $6.00. Yes, we did order food as well and were going to have a couple of drinks at the actual bar after we ate but Uh....No....not if you are scamming people for TAP WATER. Went to an early dinner after a long week. Was enjoying a few drinks and appetizers with my better half. Food was good. We ordered the queso dip, and a couple of burger. 4 stars for the food. Both the apps and the burgers were very good. Timing between the apps and main course was also well planned. But the 3 stars come from service. I sort of felt like the forgotten table. Took a long time to ask if we needed refills on our drinks, and dirty plates from the appetizer and empty drink glasses never removed. Also I did not enjoy the manager reprimanding an employee loudly directly behind my booth. Ok she may have been wrong. But always remember: praise in public, criticise in private. read more

So my mom and I were doing some Christmas gift returns and Chili's happened to be near by. We went in for lunch and placed our order. We got our drinks and soup quickly and waited quite some time before the manager came over and said our order would be a few more minutes. I asked what was taking so long and he said our server put in the wrong order. We said ok and he brought out our meal. A few minutes later he came over with the bill and sad it was on him. This chili's disappointed my boyfriend and I last night. We walk in and we were not even greeted. The host with a blue daisy/sunflower head band said to the other host"bro where should I put these people?" FINALLY when we received our food it wasn't good. Boyfriend wanted his burger well done and it was soooo pink and the burgers just weren't good. As we are eating our food the same host who didn't greet us was talking shit about other customers through their headsets as if all the other customers can't hear her. I have not been to a Chili's since like the 90's for food. i was not impressed with what I had back in the day. Anywho I did change my opinion tonight. I went from that sucks to I might have this again sometime. It wasn't like fine dining or anything, but it was okay. The ribs I thought were too small, And I felt so bad that my boyfriend got them. I loved the $2.99 magarita's! I had a shrimp alfredo, and it was okay. The desert was really good though- White Chocolate Molten Lava cake! That was sooooo good!! Service here is always less than satisfactory. Last night we decided to give it another try we should of saved our money. We ordered the trio fajitas which should feed 2 to 3 comfortably. We received our fajitas for 1 with a total of 3 tortillas. We spoke to a manager all he did was bring back a small portion of meat and we mentioned we needed more tortillas, never got em. Horrible. Will never go back. We waited for a table even though they weren't busy. I thought ok it's because of covid they aren't seating people at capacity but then I overheard the host tell a lady it was because they only had two cooks working. Ok. So we get seated and we ordered drinks and chips and queso. That took a long time to arrive. We waited and waited and I'm getting annoyed. Our waiter had two or three other tables but he seemed so overwhelmed. We had to ask him to take our dinner order after he brought chips and queso. He said oh I thought I did take your order. The girl who brought our drinks said do you want water and we said yes. She never came back. The waiter finally brought water after we asked a second time. We finally got our food. Quality wasn't great but not bad. Then when trying to pay the little kiosk wouldn't work. It just froze up over and over. We waited and waited just to pay our bill. To the point where my family went to the car while I was still trying to get the Bill paid. Our total time in the restaurant was two hours. Just for dinner, no dessert. If I could leave less than 1 star, I would. We were a group of 6 with 2 checks. Meals came out at different times. A chicken burrito came out first. Then came 2 kids meals and one adult rib meal. Went on Friday mid afternoon. No hostess at door for a couple minutes then were seated by waitress working bar area. Then it took ten minutes to get waiter to come with drinks. Ordered appetizer and 2 of same entrée. My hubby and I were busy chatting and suddenly realized it was 30 minutes later. We caught waiter's attention and he says "sorry, I forgot to put in your order...what did you want again?" WHAT? He didn't even try to explain which annoyed my husband so we just left and went elsewhere. It was not busy so that was not the reason. Usually good experiences with Chili's, even this one, so this was very unexpected. Doubt we return to this location any time soon as there are two others reasonably close to home. read more

Without going into details as i would be preaching to the choir, I agree with all the negative comments about the insanely slow service and the fact that the staff don't really care. The take away service is not as bad because you don't have to wait for them as long. I just keep ringing the bell every few minutes until someone comes. Decided on Chilli's tonight. Don't eat here that often at all. I don't really have high expectations but my Hamburger n fries hit the spot. Neither my wife nor the couple we went with had any complaints. Our waitress was maybe a little too much but would rather that then be ignored. I personally like the tablets on the table. It would be nice to order from it but I still like keeping humans in the mix to serve. We really liked the fact that you could pay your bill on it and split it up however you choose. The best thing on the table was the ketchup. The silverware was dirty at every place setting. The ribs were covered in a thin layer of barbecue sauce that was strongly ketchup-based. The chicken tacos were on the bland side. The shrimp fajitas were good but for some reason all the bell peppers were lumpy end pieces. I don't know how all the end pieces ended up on one plate, but they are not the best to eat. The Plainfield location is so much better. We've never had a bad meal there. My daughter and I frequently stop at this location, as we didn't Friday night. As we're being seated the host told our server I'm sitting you now, making her aware she had a table. About 10 minutes in, saw the same server pass by a few times as well as stand by the host stand. Manager came by helpful in getting our drinks and app started. Saw waitress a total of 3 times and I sat with an empty drink for more than half of the meal and didn't even order food for myself for the way she treated us. Tried twice now and will never go back! Hostesses don't even greet you or ask table or booth. Ordered chicken quesadillas previous time and the chicken was weird like mushy so I thought maybe just a fluke so tried lastnight and ordered chicken tacos and my husband had chicken enchiladas and the chicken meat looked like cat food! This was my second time trying this Chilis after a very disappointing first try. I ordered the Quesadilla Explosion Salad and the half rack Ribs combo. The salad was wilted and soggy, the salad dressing was watered down and tasted spoiled and the ribs were mediocre at best. My grandchildren took one look and didn't even want any! I took a few bites and tossed the rest in the trash. I choose Chilis whenever I travel because it's usually consistent and I enjoy the food. I gave this location one star because my carry out server Tim was very courteous and friendly. I will continue to eat at Chilis in other locations but will never waste my money at this location again. read more

I don't like to write bad reviews, but I had my worst server experience to date here at this chili's location. My server's name was Grace, and she just seemed to not care the whole time I was here. I came in last week with my boyfriend, and we are both servers so we understand when mistakes happen, but we also understand how some servers look at a young couple and think "they probably won't tip me well, so I don't need to give them the best service". I myself always tip more than 20% because I get it, and I work in this industry! But she was so neglectful to us and we were the only people she had in her section. And I get it, we came in about an hour to close, it may be frustrating when you have side work to do, but you should never neglect a table, especially your only one, which is how it felt. We ordered our drinks & she flew away to get those before we could even put in an appetizer. So we didn't, because I felt like it'd be too much to ask. She came by for our food orders which she wrote down and then tried to break away to put the order in. She didn't even ask if we'd like anything else after we put our orders in, so I had to ask her to wait so I could ask for a side of ranch. That's it. I felt like our dinner order was such an ordeal and I was afraid to ask for anything more in case she'd give me attitude because she seemed so eager to be doing something else. When we finally got our food everything was fine, kitchen did a great job. She however never brought us napkins. Well I figured she'd be back to check on us before our food was gone so we could ask for more. Nope, she never came until we were all done. The worst part was, I could hear her in the kitchen area laughing with a coworker and talking amongst others. She was either too caught up in chores in the kitchen or she was purposely avoiding us...Finally after finishing our food we asked for napkins and she came back with only 2! I felt really insulted. As soon as she brought us that she really was eager to give us the check, because she asked if we wanted it. It was only 9:30 at this point, half an hour til close. Didn't even ask if we wanted dessert or anything else. When she dropped off our entrees she didn't ever ask how it was, if we needed anything else, or created any conversation with us whatsoever. Never felt such forced service, and never felt so rushed before in my life. I went to the Chili's in North Plainfield this week just to get a simple molten cake, and during an 8:00pm rush they gave me more service and attention for a simple dessert than Grace ever did with myself as her only table. You're working off tips, you should be more attentive with your tables especially if we were the only ones you had... I love chili's so much, the food is superb, so I'll always go back to chili's even after a bad serving experience. But for anyone who needs the warning, I would avoid this server at all costs! read more

Big Chile's fajita fan never had a poor experience until tonight...maybe I was just due. The steak ...I mean every piece was like chewing leather and stringy. You figure all your fajita s cant be bad, maybe the next one will be better. ....not the case. Before you know it you made 4 fajitas and they all were like eating my shoe. So do you complain or just call it and move on for right or wrong. Any case they are of their new promo which is 48% more meat fajitas. I am in at least three times a month for chips and salsa to go. The service whether it be at the to go counter or the bar is great. I am greeted and taken care of immediately. I think though in the past two months the salsa has been changed. It is super spicy and just not the same taste as it was before. My dine in experience has always been great. I had hoped, after an awful dining experience at the Bolingbrook Chili's, that this new location would be better. I was wrong. The server took forever to take our order and the food took too long (considering it was just burgers and fries). The salsa was just canned tomatoes with no seasoning. The burger was completely flavorless. I think $48 for two burgers and two beers is WAY too much for food of this poor caliber and I will not step foot in a Chili's again. read more

Just finished a rotten meal at the Romeoville Chiles restaurant on Webber road. It was my son's 16th birthday and this is his favorite restaurant. When we arrived we were greated by a nice hostess who stared welcome to Chills and what brings you out tonight, we stated it was our son's 16th birthday. After we were seated we were immediately greated by our waitress who again asked what brings you out and again we replied it was our son's birthday. We ordered our food and waited what seemed like an eternity. After we recieved our food my wife and I noticed that our fries, street corn and chicken were cold. Unable to find our server, we decided to just eat our food. When she finally came back , she asked if we needed any desert and we stated for approximately the 3rd time it was our son's birthday and that it was his choice. Our son ordered a ice cream cookie which she brought back , placed on the table and walked away without saying a word ie happy birthday. Approximately two minutes later our server along with 4 or 5 other servers brought a chocolate lava cake out to the table behind us and they all joined in on singing happy birthday to them. I think this was very rude and possibly racial discrimination as the family that was sang to were white and our family is if Hispanic origin. I then asked the server when she came back for her check and tip why she couldn't be bothered singing happy birthday to our son and she replied they reserved the right to sign to whoever's they want to and that it's usually reserved for small children. We have been going to this Chills for several years as I previously said it is our son's favorite restaurant so we know that this isn't true. read more

Just got an overall "eh" feel from the place. Walked in and waited 10 mins before someone acknowledged us, always a bad start. We had a 2 yr old with us and were seated in the bar next to another couple with a small child. I don't particularly like that they choose the bar as a spot to seat children....especially when the bartender is swearing a bunch and where the service is the slowest. We ordered drinks and were asked if we wanted to order chips and salsa, we say that sounds good. 15 mins go by....still no drinks, our server aka the bartender was busy filling beers. We finally get our drinks and start to order and are asked if we'd like an appetizer....um, yeah we ordered one 20 mins ago. Food was just as slow to come out. We rarely saw our "server" so luckily we didn't need much. That being said, the food was just okay, not horrible, but not worth going back at all. Chicken "crispers" were not crispy at all, more of a hush puppy breading and pretty soggy and fries were overcooked and too salty. read more

I've been coming here since I was in elementary/middle school and it was good back then. Never had a problem w the food but the service has gotten worse over the years. Tonight our server was polite and attentive. The host in the front however was inattentive at the entrance and there was a lack of a guest welcome. Working as a manager in the food industry, this was a poor experience to a place with so much potential. Additionally, we weren't seen out by the host with a "thanks for the visit!" Or a simple fair well. This is imperative in the food industry because it builds a bond with guests and assured them they are valued as a customer. Finally, the manager on duty or the lack there, needs to take responsibility and stand out as the leader of the shift. I could not point a manager out throughout the dinner (which is a problem). We were trying to decide where to go for dinner on Saturday night, worried about a long wait, but they got us in right away with an available table. Being a former waitress, my pet peeve is to have the dishes left on the table. I was very impressed with the teamwork of the staff. Our small table for two was constantly being cleaned by every one who walked by. The food was excellent with my medium 10 oz steak, brocoli, and perfect potatoes. I went to this chilis a few weeks ago and ordered the chipotle Tex mex bowl. Ordered it with out certain things on it and some things I wanted extra on it. My husband and sister order the same entree the chipotle honey chicken crispers. It was a Sunday morning not many people in here at all. And it took us about 30 minutes to get our food. When I got my bowl it was all incorrect and their food was cold their fries tasted like they had been sitting out for quite a long time. The waitress takes for her to come back I tell that this was wrong and I didn't want the corn and black bean salsa. She asked me if I wanted her to just pick it out for me. I replied no thank you but I would like a different bowl and have it be the way that I ordered it. She then said ok. Apologized about their food. Another 20-25 minutes go by she brings me my bowl and it is incorrect again. I tell her you know nevermind I'm so sorry but I can't eat this so I just won't need it then. She apologized explained that the reason it took so long in the first place was that they made the bowl wrong a third time and she corrected it well thought she did. Manager came over and apologized greatly took it off the bill and gave me one to take home and apologized profusely. Took it for lunch the next day didn't look at it before I left and it had everything on it and I couldn't eat it. Decided to give that location another chance and went back this week. Sat down and order a few drinks was there with my mom. Then I ordered the 3 for $10. Got something to where I didn't need to make a bunch of changes to my order. I had a coupon for free chips and queso. I asked the waiter if this coupon would work with the 3 for $10. He said yeah it should. I said are you sure because it says with adult entree on it . Repeated that and he said it would work I told him I didn't want to get it if it wasn't going to work. He said it'll work. So we ordered that. Get the bill and he charged us for it I said hey you said this would be covered he said oh scan your coupon. I did so and it didn't work. He comes back and said oh looks like it didn't work. I said well you told me it would do what would you like to do about it . He got his manager she came over and said well it says in fine print and I told her I read the fine print and even repeated it to him and he said it would work. she then got extremely rude with me and kept saying well fine print fine print fine print to me. I continued to tell her I understood that the fine print said that but your waiter said it would work. She said well I don't know what you want me to do about that . I can give you like $3 off but I mean it says in fine print so I can't do anything about it . Extremely rude. People at the next table were even looking at her and how rude she was being. I couldn't believe how she was talking to me like I was extremely stupid. This managers name was Kellie. My bother and I eat lunch out a couple of times a week. We are always looking for a quality experience. This place isn't one of them. We've been there four time during the week for lunch separated by a couple of months and each time the place is nearly empty. The reason? The service is the worse I've ever experienced in any eating establishment. You wait to be seated because the hostess is nowhere in sight. It takes twenty minutes for a server to appear once you are finally seated. The food ends up cold, not because the kitchen does a bad job, but because the Wait staff is either on their phones or talking to each other while your food sits waiting for pickup and to be served. Forget trying to get a refill on your drink. Are all Chili's bad? Nope. When I lived near Naperville I ate regularly at the Chili's on Naperville road. The place was always busy, but the service was terrific and the food matched. It just seems this one unit in Romeoville is terrible for service. read more
