Small place. Great owners. She will remember what you order and who picks it up. (She said, Oh, where is your husband? He normally picks this up for you.) The pineapple rice is always nice and moist without being over-done. Never chewy. The next best item on the menu is Walnut Shrimp. Big shrimp pieces. Comes with big broccoli pieces. Consistently good and as fresh as it can taste. The sauce is a white sweet sauce. Not too thick but enough to cover the shrimp. They do not cover the broccoli in the sauce. That is brilliant because of the rich sauce it's a good contrast and provides good crunch in-between the other bites. The egg rolls better than most I've had. Longer but rolled tighter and a little more of a thinner outside crispiness. I get irritated when it's Monday and it's closed. You would never think such a small town like Boulder City would have a Chinese Restaurant of this caliber....but surprisingly, the food was very good ....as good as anything you will find in Vegas (including Chinatown). The decor is typical for a small town Chinese Restaurant (nothing fancy, but decent). The food is modestly priced. Overall, a great choice for lunch or dinner...but keep in mind this place is closed on Sundays and Mondays....I guess I can understand closing on Mondays (as it is a slower day for restaurants)....but closed Sundays???...I think they may want to reconsider that...Sundays are usually a big day for restaurants...especially for pizza or Chinese take out. read more

Nice & clean Resturant. Staff are very attentive and friendly. I loved the way they engaged us in conversation and not just to take an order. It was very pleasant! The food was great, we were very happy & have been back another time even! The EggFoo Yung was a little different than we expected but it was better!! Once upon a time there was a Yelper named Dheez. His reviews were a remarkable source of information on finding very good Asian restaurants. Although his Yelp account would pass on, his persuasion for others to try China Bistro lived on. His writing introduced me to this intimate mom and pop owned Chinese restaurant in Boulder City. China Bistro is off Boulder City Parkway (Business Route 93) between the city's two stop lights and near the Southern Nevada Railway Museum. It is near the Boulder City and Lake Mead hiking trails. It was a few years ago on November 16, 2014 that I enjoyed my first post-hiking supper here. After seven post-hiking adventures here, it is time to write my review.   The best way to describe the dining environment of this mom and pop Chinese restaurant is homey. From the outside, it looks like a large house that was converted into a restaurant. Whether it was a house or not, the homey environment permeates throughout the large room. The calming interior with a few windows and dim lights reflecting off the red walls and plush booths has had a relaxing effect on me when I dined here after hours in the Great Outdoors. It brings back memories of my favorite Chinese restaurant on Long Island: Hunan in Oakdale, NY. Perhaps, the homely environment is just as fitting as a restaurant on a date. Complimenting the intimate environment is the Buddha Statue at the entrance.  Complementary to the homey restaurant is superb Chinese food. As far as taste and dining environment in Southern Nevada Chinese restaurants, this is at the toppermost level of the totem pole. Over the course of seven dinners here, I have tasted their chicken lo mein, Moo Goo Gai Pan, and Beef Pepper steak. I have ordered off the Individual Dinner Menu. At $12.95, the menu says that it includes soup of the day which has been hot and sour or egg drop, egg role, BBQ pork, and BBQ fried rice. I add a hot tea. One of the things that I love about Chinese restaurants besides the cuisine being so out of this world good is the hot Chinese tea. Besides being delectable, hot Chinese tea steers me away from the surplus of corn syrup found in soft drinks. My favorite food that China Bistro has served me is the Chicken lo mein. It is out of this world Chinese food served in a large square white bowl.   In the past I remember a few dinners when who I believe to be an owner served my food. She was personable to the point of recognizing me and making small talk.  A couple of weeks ago, after a hiatus, I introduced my brother to China Bistro. I am sure that he got a nice first impression when the waitress placed a stand on the table to rest his IPhone. Unfortunately his first impression was superior to my two last impressions. First, instead of serving the hot tea in a pot, the waitress poured it in a small cup. I can drink a small cup of hot Chinese tea faster than I wrote this sentence. If the waitress was persistent and had checked up on us more often, this would be less of a hiccup. However there was a more serious hiccup. That is the issue of failing to provide the bowl of fried rice that is included with the Individual Diner. This is not an isolated mistake. It has happened two times. From my point of view, there is something shifty about it. In like manner, last visit I caught them trying to charge my individual dinner as a family dinner. I am a nice guy. However, there is a hard line between a nice guy and a fool. Unfortunately I am left to deduct half a star and change a review that would have ended on a very positive tone. Not The End.   Unlike the talented Dheeze's Yelp account, China Bistro is not dead. Despite what I perceive to be trickery with the fried rice situation; their homey environment and superb Chinese food will most likely pull me back inside China Bistro. And who knows, maybe I'll hit the jackpot and they'll bring the fried rice to the table that is supposed to be included with the meal. In conclusion I rate China Bistro 3.5 Stars after a penalty half star deduction. read more

Worst place ever.. The honey walnut chicken was awful general tso was OK but no spice whatsoever and very small dinner portion. The fried rice had very little color and no flavor and it was supposed to the house fried rice. Heading to Lake Mead & needed to eat lunch. Yelp had such great reviews & pictures that made my mouth water. Someone met us quickly for seating & drink orders. The server was friendly, quick & professional. Place is nice looking & very clean. Hubby chose Lo Mein with chicken and I ordered Mongolian Beef. The Lunch menu came with soup: egg drop or hot and sour-both were excellent with great flavor. The lunches also came with an egg roll-crispy but mushy filling. The Lo Mein was outstanding with amazing sauce & tasty noodles. The Mongolian Beef had plenty of beef (so many places fill the plate with cheaper onion) in a spicy sauce. Please do not allow the nondescript exterior to fool you into not trying this restaurant, as it did me for so many years. The food is amazing!!! We had the chicken and broccoli, Kung pao chicken and chicken lomein. The dishes were tasty and the vegetables fresh and crisp. I hate when the veg is over cooked and mushy. The restraunt is clean and the food is fantastic!! The owner always makes it to our table everytime we are there at the restraunt she is kind and always asks us how we are doing and she is always there making sure we are ok and enyoying our meal! This is the first time in 45 years of going to restraunts that the owner has engaged with her customer's as much as she does. She also makes great deserts and brings us one to the table when she has time to make them. She also donates to the town we are lucky to have her here in Boulder City. The young gentleman that helps is also nice and funny too. There also is another lady that is fantastic also!! So if you have not been to China Bistro make sure you make it there soon. If you are on a budget the lunch specials are a great option and I beleive they are until 3 during the week. read more

This is the most authentic Chinese fusion restaurant in town. Unlike the cookie cutter Chinese fast food, they don't use flavor additives to enhance the taste. Chef trained with master chefs in New York, and brought his talent to Boulder City, we are very lucky to have him. We live in Chinatown, Las Vegas, and still come for the food once a week! My favorite dish is General Tso Chicken, because they use real chicken and all white meat. Since the 2nd time we were here, they remember our names and treat us like family.
