This is a hidden gym in Jacksonville. Not really cause it's on the main road, but it gives that vibe. They have a bunch of great stuff on the menu and they move the line really quick. Everything is made fresh order and the girls are really nice when you get to the window. In the past couple of weeks, I've been here about five times. Today I went outside of the box and ordered the chicken pad Thai not necessarily Chinese food, but they definitely hooked it up. I'd give it 3.5 stars. Big portions and reasonably priced (cheaper and more food compared to our go to chinese take out place). We loved the beef and broccoli. Took the order over the phone nice and easy, made great small talk asked me questions got me and the wife involved! As a Food restaurant manager myself she is the type of person I would hire in a heartbeat you can't teach it! Got home and let it sit in the microwave while we finished putting the dry stuff away for probably about an hour and we just sat down at 9:30 and I started crushing it absolutely 10/10 place for us we got lucky and found our spot for sure! We got a lot of food for a great price, however, it wouldn't be my first go to for Chinese food in Jacksonville. I'm not a huge fan of the yellow Chinese rice; not very authentic. The first time I saw the sign for "Ying's Takee Outee" sign, I thought that the owner must have a great sense of humor. It also reminded me a lot of the Chinese restaurant in Dude Where's My Car. Coolest name for a Chinese restaurant, hands down. They have a drive thru, which is so rare to find. It definitely makes them different from other Chinese restaurants. There's not a lot to say about the food. It's not terrible. It's also not the best I've had either. But I will say, being 2 min down the road from my work place and having a drive thru? I do eat here every so often. Hot and sour soup is pretty good and full of bamboo shoots which I love. The wonton soup is just ok, but I have very high standards for that particular soup. It was edible. Their spare ribs are decent and the fried rice is pretty standard. The line moves quickly, the prices are pretty fair. Yesterday I wanted Chinese food and this place came to mind. I decided to try them on a whim. I've driven past it a few times and while I'm not a fan of the name, I figured why not and ordered through Doordash. My chicken wings and shrimp fried rice were pretty good. I liked the batter on the chicken. They seem to use curry in the batter, giving the wings a nice flavor. It came with three good-sized wings. The fried rice wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Based on previous experiences, I've yet to find amazing fried rice in Jacksonville. This version was okay and I was fine with it only having onions and bean sprouts. I wish more restaurants included sprouts in their fried rice. I also ordered an egg roll and spring roll. They were your standard rolls, nothing out of the ordinary. Only thing missing was a fortune cookie to complete my meal. So not too shabby. I'm up for trying them again. read more

I grabbed lunch here on the recommendation of a friend. (This is his go-to Chinese take out place.) To be honest, if it wasn't for that, I most likely would not have stopped here just because of the name. I really wanted a good, spicy Kung Pao chicken - and spicy is a rare thing to find in Chinese take out in Jacksonville. I was pleasantly surprised. For the price I paid, I received a very large amount of food. The egg roll was fresh and crisp and just a good standard egg roll. The fried rice was a bit of a let down, about as plain as could be with only onion. But the Kung Pao chicken itself? While it wasn't as spicy as it could have been, there was a really good (spice) heat going on and I really liked it. They were very generous with the amount of chicken included, about equal to the amount of vegetables. Just the right amount of sauce as well. The place may be older, but it was clean and the young ladies working here were polite. Best way to navigate in and out of the parking lot would be using Spring Park Road instead of University Boulevard. The restaurant is located on the corner at the traffic light and during high traffic periods, it's difficult and potentially dangerous to navigate out through University. read more

The quality of the food. Ordered the poo poo platter and come to find out when they bread the shrimp to fry it, they also bread the tails and you have no idea they're there until you bite into them. It was very obvious, judging by the color of the food that came out of the fryer that the oil was very old. The food was very poor quality. It was totally disgusting. We stopped here for the name alone! Love it! It's conveniently located off of I-95 and has a drive through and a dining area. We placed our order and the food was delivered quickly. It's nothing special or out of the ordinary -- just good, standard, reliable meal. We had chicken and broccoli lunch special, as well as the boneless spare rib plate. The portion was perfect and completely filled us up. The place wasn't too crowded, but the drive-through was hopping. Clean facility, nice bathroom, handicapped accessible (which is important for me) and a good value. Would definitely recommend. read more

I've been coming here for about 30 years now and sadly, tonight was my last night. Very disappointed in my food. It has changed and not for the better. Sub par at best. The fried rice was bland and had only onions. The spring rolls and fried chicken were over cooked, the honey chicken was meh, the Lo Mein I barely touched and the mei fun shrimp was bland and dry. It is drive thru only, you can't go inside and the menu has been downsized. They still pile up the portions though. Customer service used to be great but now there is absolutely none. I've heard this place has been around in Jax for at least 20 years maybe 25. You must have something right if you can keep open a little nonchain restaurant. Tonight I drove over to university blvd and popped in the drive thru for the first time in maybe 3-4 years to pick up a hugely craved Chinese "dinner". (Watching Godfather made me want it). I usually get honey chicken combo and crab goons. I also grabbed sweet and sour chicken with steamed rice. Lets just be real here, the fried rice is more like rice w. soy sauce and a few onions but its just a side, much like grits here in the south. They just come with it, and most aren't amazing. Additionally, the price is like $5-$6 per person. Can't beat that with a stick. Sooo, if you're craving quick Chinese pop in, even do a weekly lunch special! Ying's was my quick Chinese place for years until another opened closer to my house that delivers. As with every restaurant, they have their good dishes and their meh dishes. Located on the corner of University Blvd. and Spring Park Rd, Yings is right next to Freshfield Farms. So after you've worked up an appetite shopping for healthy fruits and veggies, stop by for some not healthy Chinese! Now onto the food. High on the meh list is the wonton soup. The broth had very little flavor. The fried rice with the combo is white rice with undercooked onion and soy sauce. I usually get the dinner with steamed rice instead. Same with the crab wontons. Fried and crispy is good but the filling is more cream cheese than anything else. Now for the good! The lo mein is flavorful and actually has more veggies than I've found at other Chinese restaurants. The teriyaki beef is also pretty good. Usually not very fatty and good flavor. But by far my favorite dish is the honey chicken. I've made the mistake of ordering honey chicken at many places - from expensive Chinese to the cheap place in a strip mall and I usually get overly breaded hunks of fried chicken with some sickeningly sweet redish sauce that doesn't taste like honey. And it's always the same flavor - maybe it's from adding plum sauce? I don't know. I like plum sauce but not when I want honey chicken. At Yings the chicken is breaded and fried, but it's freshly fried when ordered. And then they douse it in their honey sauce which is light, golden, and taste more of honey than anything else. The chicken is crispy and slightly sweet just hits the spot. Sure, if you have leftovers the breading gets soggy and it's sad but still yummy. I've not found any other restaurant that makes their honey chicken like this so when I want some, I have to come to Yings. read more

Now, my very first time seeing this place was about a year ago and I said to myself, I probably will never eat here because of their name, who names their restaurant, Takee Outee?! Never say "Never!" Lol. I am glad I came here because the food was good. It is a carry-out so please do not expect some fancy, secret recipe, flavoring in your food. The place was very clean, roomy and plenty of seatings available. The lady taking our order at the counter was very helpful, patient and friendly! There were seven of us ordering and dining in, so I was very happy with the service we received from her. She didn't even mind the fact that we were rearranging the seating area by putting tables together so we could all sit together. Very pleasant attitude and she was all smiles. :-) Our food came out hot, fresh and fairly quickly. We each ordered something different and all of us were happy with our food. The taste and the portion size. The only thing that seemed weird was this guy who was eating alone and across from us, got up and brought one of my friend's 8 year old daughter a piece of his chicken leg. And he had eaten a portion of it!!! We were confused and we all came to the conclusion that this guy had a "mental" problem......or on drugs. He was acting way to weird to consider "normal" in my terms. After we told him politely, that she was full and did not want anymore chicken, he took it back, sat down and kept looking at her. I told her to get up and come sit next to me because she was sitting at the end of the table and I was sitting next to the wall. When he got up to go to the restroom, we went outside to go home. He came out there and started acting even more weird so I made everyone get in their cars to go home. We didn't need any incidences after such a great time at church.
