We came here for the viral orange chicken and fries. We also ordered a combo B which comes with your choice of chow mein/fried rice/half-and-half. For the entrees, we got barbecue pork and onion chicken. The orange chicken and fries were cooked to order, and they tasted as expected. There was a nice sweet glaze covering the chicken and fries. The fries were crispy and covered with sprinkled cheese, green onion and aioli sauce. The order came piping hot and it was great. It hit the spot for us, and we were pretty excited. Watching the combo B getting made was awesome to see; they don't mess around with the portion size. I came with my wife, but it could have served another adult too. The combo B itself was your typical Chinese fast food. It's not the highest quality or the most healthy but for the quantity and the value, I was pretty satisfied. On a bonus note: the ladies taking our order were super nice and parking was easy. The seating inside was limited but we managed to get a seat when we went at 2 pm on Saturday.

Very personable and friendly staff! The server was always quick to let the customer know when a fresh batch was coming out. Good Chinese fast food. And their unique Orange chicken fries were delicious ! There are a few tables available if you want to eat there. We will definitely return again!

The service was amazing! Their dining area was very clean and well kept. They were very kind and attended to everyone that they come into the restaurant in an effective manner. Is amazing and fresh. I ordered a combo b platter. Sesame balls and tempura shrimp. Best place to stop at if you're ever in the area

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 I haven't been to this Chinese fast food restaurant for a while and they did not disappoint. They have new menu called orange chicken fries which seems to be very popular. While I was sitting I saw a lot of people ordering it. It is a must try dish. It was made to order and sauce was balanced. Also grabbed two item combo with onion chicken and spicy wings with chow mein. Portion was large, seems like double of PE. Taste is on par with other Chinese fast food places but their customer service win. This is my favorite Chinese fast food place and highly recommended.

This is exactly what you hope for with a one dollar sign Chinese place! The place does mostly takeout but they do have 3 tables if you want to eat here. Their menu is pretty concentrated but they are really good at what they make. The combo A plate ($9.49) is one item with chow mein and/or rice. Combo B ($11.49) is the same with 2 items & Combo C ($13.95) is 3 items. I got Orange chicken & beef & broccoli and it was really good. Girlfriend got Orange chicken and mushroom chicken and it all was really good. The guy in line bonus said the BBQ pork is really good & Id like to try that next time. Also note that they don't give water cups so either bring your own or plan on buying a bottle of water or a beverage. All-in-all this was a 5 star, one dollar sign experience - we will be back!

Solidly 4 stars. Huge portions and tasty food but I wouldn't say's it's the best quality. The chicken to breading ratio is not great but still a great meal. Parking is easy and the service is quick. There are a few booths inside to sit at so this is perfect for a quick tasty lunch and portions are large enough to share

Whoever thinks this is good Chinese get your taste buds checked this place is disgusting and has zero to little flavor in everything the orange chicken is soggy the beef and broccoli has no sauce on it just giant pieces of broccoli with no sauce or flavor to the beef and the pork ribs came with no sauce and the color looked like discolored my roommate said it looked like carnitas if you could imagine the color. The fried rice was frozen or it tasted like it and the chow mein lacked any flavor I get it's 16.99 for a 3 combo plate but I would rather go to panda and pay more for better quality. These types of places are hole in the wall but this one is a miss. The onion chicken was surprisingly very tasty so I will give them that and it was free due to DoorDash if I spend 15 dollars I get a free item. The service looks like they have lines of people since it's cheap and affordable and busy. Overall it's cheap but the food quality is good on some days prob I just won't be coming back to try it

China Express doesn't waste time on vibes--they focus on what matters: big portions, solid flavor, and prices that feel like a throwback. The food hits every time, no fuss, no gimmicks, just consistently good Chinese takeout that somehow fills both your plate and your fridge for later. I came once out of curiosity, now I'm a regular out of respect.

Barbecue pork , orange chicken and fried rice

Wow. This place is unassuming when you see it but the customer service and the food is off the chain. It totally deserves its rating. Who would have thought this tiny hole in the wall would be so good. Amazing Thai tea as well. My new favorite

I came here for dinner while I was in the area. This is a family owned restaurant that is well-maintained by the owners. They make their food fresh. I saw them making their chow mein noodles and orange chicken as soon as those dishes run out. They were constantly refilling their dishes with freshly cooked ones. I also ordered their Orange Chicken Fries because many customers were ordering this dish and I thought I would try it out. Their orange chicken fries did not disappoint! It was freshly made and chicken was tender inside and crunchy outside with a lot of sauce and melted cheese on top. Fries were served warm and they marinated well with the tangy sauce from the crispy orange chicken. Crispy fries were topped with juicy and golden battered chicken pieces that were marinated in a glossy tangy orange sauce. This was a perfect combination of sweet, tender, and citrusy flavors in one dish made from boring French fries. This China Express restaurant turned boring fries into finger-licking addictive fries with their delicious orange chicken. I saw many customers like this dish as much as I did. A lot of customers ordered this while I was eating there. Just an info, they also make special orders for vegetarian dishes upon customers' requests. I observed many customers were happy with the generous portion of foods. Their to-go containers were overflowing with all the delicious goodness of chinese foods. Every scoop is generous and people can eat dinner today and lunch tomorrow with two items combo. Everything that I ordered tasted delicious and fresh. I will definitely come here again to try other items on their menu. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and generous. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Ate there recently and oh boy it is delicious. Saw this place on instagram with their new loaded orange chicken fries. Went there and they had a new item think i was one of the first people to try it. BBQ pork fries and let me tell you it was made to order and it was AMAZING. also tried other items. orange chicken and chow main were good and kung pao chicken was good but nothing crazy. definitely recommend this spot. go get the bbq pork fries and even though i didn't try get the orange chicken fries and you will thank me later. 9.25 out of 10 for me. #HypeIsReal

China Express is one of those underrated spots that always delivers--great portions, really flavorful food, and the staff are super friendly. It's the kind of place you can count on for a satisfying meal every time.

We had two orders of slippery shrimp, kung pao chicken, eggplants with hot and spicy garlic sauce, juicy steamed dumplings, and pork fried rice. Overall, both restaurants in Chinatown and Pasadena provide great food quality. The ambience was cozy with dim lighting. Our round table had a wooden rotating tray. They have pictures of celebrities and politicians who've visited their restaurant. Service was relatively quick, but there was a 20-minute wait for the dumplings. Valet parking can get difficult when the lot gets full. A few cars entering the narrow driveway had to reverse out of the way to let others leave. The kung pao chicken was very tasty with a good amount of spice. I noticed that the slippery shrimp didn't taste as spicy as the portion from Pasadena. Reviews say that the spice is adjustable. Regardless. it tasted great as it came right off the pan. The pork fried rice was delicious with a savory flavor that didn't seem overpowering. I thought the juicy steamed dumplings were the weakest dish out of our whole order. There wasn't enough flavor and heat from the broth. I didn't try much of the eggplants, but they tasted adequate for me.

The menu is New American with Chinese influences served as a four-course prix fixe set, with each course having three choices, and optional additions are available. (There is an à la carte menu available in the bar area.) I went very carnivorous on my selections, choosing the beef tongue carpaccio, duck sausage, and beef short rib. There was not a bad dish among these: The tongue was tender, soft, and delicate. The duck sausage was fantastically good as well; served with an apple jam atop Swiss chard, it was a sort of Chinese-Alpine fusion cuisine of which I never envisioned but instantly wanted more. While delicious, the short rib was overshadowed by its cabbage accompaniment. My server told me it takes four days to make that dish, and I would have happily ordered a full dish of just that. The kaffir lime curd dessert was light and balanced, perfect after the heavier meat courses and like a small vacation to Thailand on a plate. The one dish I did not love was the Chongqing fried chicken course I added. The chicken itself ― a boneless leg quarter ― was a large portion and well-prepared, but the sauce covering it was a thick layer of chilis (which, thankfully, were not inedibly hot) and straight oil, lots of oil. Eating so much oil like that made for gastrointestinal discomfort the rest of the night. The soy pickles helped cut the greasiness a bit, but they weren't vinegary enough to get that level of oiliness off the palate. The duck fat rice, though quite good, also did not help much given its fattiness. Given the chance, I definitely would have requested the oil-sauce on the side. I did appreciate the crunchiness of the batter, which never went soggy despite being soaked in that oily puddle for a long time. I did not find any wines by the glass that bowled me over, so I stuck to cocktails, which were good. Service was warm, personable but not intrusive, and brisk, while the room has the comfortable feel of a mid-century modern den complete with well-worn cookbooks on the shelves lining the walls. I would happily return to try the bar menu with cocktails or when the prix fixe options change.
