We each ordered a chicken combo which came with rice and an egg roll. We waited over twenty minutes for our food despite being the only people in the restaurant. The price for the food was pretty fair but after getting it we quickly understood why. Personally I ate the sesame chicken combo. The chicken was over cooked and just didn't taste good at all. The rice tasted awful even when mixed with the chicken's sauce. The only decent part of the meal was the egg roll and fortune cookie. Both of us had a strange burning sensation on our tongues and our stomachs didn't feel great. Would not go back or recommend to anyone read more

I went here back in college with an ex-girlfriend. The food seemed decent then. I just moved into the area and decided to try good old China house. It looked exactly the same from the outside and inside hardly changed at all. I ordered steamed dumplings and chicken shrimp and beef combination dish with brown rice. The waitress was friendly. Dumplings came out and they were kind of white in color. They definitely should've been cooked longer so the outside of the dumpling would've been more golden brown. They tasted OK nothing great though. My food came out and it was so so. The Beef was a little chewy. There were a few shrimp but not that many. The chicken was OK but kind of bland. The sauce was OK but a little odd tasting. I took about half of it home. Overall it was disappointing to greasy even though I said not too much oil. I think that these are the same people that have had the restaurant for at least 30 years and probably own the building as well It would be nice for them to decide to sell it and have someone who could make really good Chinese food re open it and remodel it. My family and I use to go here before they did the renovation in the back and front dinning area where you go to pay when you leave. When it use to look like a dump inside . There was newspapers in Mandarin Chinese stacked high up at one of the booths at the front dinning area. There was holes nd tearing on the booth seats. The food was decent but I would always get a sore throat eating at this place and the woman that would serve us was cold to some people in our party and not to others. went here for dinner 8/31. it took me a while to find a counter person so I can make a order for eating in. one younger workers to which I learned he worked their later on, was talking with a friend. so after finally getting a counter person, to which she was very polite, I placed a order for a large shrimp with broccoli and roasted pork wonton soup. the dining area was pretty quite and clean, expect for one corner where clutter was kept. also other patrons of the restaurant who sat near me had trouble finding anyone to take their orders. so after a while I got the roasted pork wonton soup, broth was hot, wonton were on the small size, filling was okay. Then before my soup was almost gone, I got my large shrimp with broccoli, shrimp were plump and not overcooked. Broccoli I found to not taste as fresh or even hot for that matter, the usual brown sauce helped somewhat. The side of white rice, warm and soft, nothing wrong to it. overall the food could use some upping, but really service is mostly what needs to change. meaning have someone around to take orders and serve so people don't feel lost. read more

We ordered chicken and broccoli and it was great the chicken wasn't fatty we got sweet-and-sour chicken and that was also amazing it wasn't greasy at all like I have experience with other places. BUT WORTH IT!***************** So, I noticed the reviews aren't great on here, but I'm in the library studying and I was quite hungry, plus a friend said the food itself isn't too bad, so I took the leap of faith and ordered. MISTAKE!!! I ordered a pint of chicken fried rice and an order of roast pork egg rolls. Now, this is my first time ordering from here so I wasn't familiar with the prices. But I didn't realize until I had to pay for my delivery. Upon calling, I placed my order in which I explicit stated "a pint of chicken fried rice, and an order of roast pork egg rolls" (which comes with 2 rolls). Now, she asked me where I was, and I said I'm at the library. She told me it would be quicker for me to come to the restaurant to pick it up, but I said I would need it delivered because I'm busy studying. I MADE SURE TO ASK if there was any minimum delivery charge, and she said no. Okay. So then I asked her if there was any minimum required amount to use card, and she told me there wasn't. So I used my card, she told me it would be 45 minutes, and even though that's a long time, I figured with no delivery charge and no minimum for card and cheap Chinese, why not? So I was patient. So 20 minutes later, the guy tells me he's in the designated spot (sounds like a drug deal, I know). I go there, he gives me my receipt and it says $12.05. I'm shocked because I calculated my order based off the online menu price, and it would have been $6.65, but even with tax it still should've been barely over 7 dollars. So I tell him that this price seems wrong, that I looked online and my food shouldn't cost this much, but he pulls out a paper menu (which they don't even bother giving you with your food) and tells me the updated prices of what I ordered. But even then, my stuff should've been about 8 dollars after tax, which is more than I anticipated on spending for some tiny fried rice and egg rolls, but doable. But then he informs me that sometimes they're "sneaky" (YEP he said that!) and that there's an extra $3 delivery and $1 for card usage. So I'm pissed because after tip, I ended up paying $13.55 which is DOUBLE what I had expected to spend. I call on the phone to complain and a man picks up, he apologizes after I explain everything that happened, and he says he can't do anything but he'd let his manager know and she'd call back shortly. So then 45 minutes passes and no call, and they were gonna be closing soon, so I end up being the one to call them back. The original lady I ordered which picked up, and I explain my predicament to her. We end up bickering on the phone, with her swearing that she told me there were additional charges, even though she NEVER told me anything at all! She mentions there's no "minimum" charges, but that charges do exist, but this is the information she should have told me when I ordered, but she didn't. I'm telling her this is completely unfair, and that I should be reimbursed, and so she offered me a free egg roll the next time I come there. A) I rarely order Chinese food. B) I'm cracking up in my head, because I don't ever plan on ordering from here again!! So I told her I don't want that, I just want "reimbursement" of the amount she failed to mention would be added on. She kept saying she told me about the charges, but she didn't, so more bickering ensued. THEN she switched it up saying there IS a minimum charge of $10 for card, but she figured I'd order past that point. WTF??? So now I'm a bit more annoyed, and she offers me a free pint of chicken fried rice with my next order. I told her, no, I don't want that, I want part of my money back. She offers to take off the tip that I gave the driver, but that's B.S., he doesn't deserve that and that isn't the issue. I tell her give the driver his tip, and take off $4 from my order. After a bit more talking, she agrees, but tells me she prefers me not to order, because its a nuisance to find drivers, and next time if I do, walk and use cash. Incredibly rude. So it's been about an hour, and check my bank account to see how she handled the charge, and what did she do? She removed the tip for the driver and still charged the rest of the full amount. So now I'm gonna call again tomorrow, and NEVER order from here again! And my food was extra greasy :( read more

Experience: Called in order for delivery; they said it would be 45 min. Literally 1 hour and 30 some minutes my food finally arrives; yes double the stated time. Charged me $25 for steam dumplings, fried wontons and vegetable chow mein and a snapple; this is almost $10 more than the advertised menu price. Food: Now, I have quite a large tolerance for weird foods and all sorts of things. This food, was the worst I've ever had in my entire life, to the point of being inedible. The steam dumplings were the only thing I could actually eat, they were by no means great, or even good, but kind of okay - standard chinese food dumpling except kind of stale tasting. The wontons were dry super crispy and more like something you'd eat in a survival situation. The chow mein was just a pile of vegetable goop and half the container filled with some foul smelling water - honestly like dirty dish water; it was unpalatable and I felt I would be sick if i ate it. The rice that came with it was equally disgusting, just simple white rice but all stale and with a weird nasty musk or something. I almost feel bad writing this; but damn I should at least be able to eat food I over paid for and waited 2x the stated time (1h and 30+minutes). What a waste of my time and money. If I could send it back and not pay for it I would, and I've never done that in my life or wanted to. I would have given this place negative stars if it was an option! My housemates and I decided to order from here (since only a few places delivery in New Paltz). I ordered a small Chicken with Broccoli in Garlic Sauce, Extra Spicy, and from the Combination Plate-Chicken Wings with Fried Rice, and Sesame Chicken with a 2 liter Sprite. The delivery took over an hour to arrive!!! First the chicken in the Chicken and Broccoli DID NOT taste like chicken and the taste was sweet instead of extra spicy like we ordered. There was not even a HINT of spice. The Chicken Wings with Fried Rice being a dish under the Combination Plate section, did not come with the egg roll like it mentioned. The Sesame Chicken was in clumps and chewy (most likely a OLD batter left in the fridge for the next victims). The sauce was basically Ketchup with some Soy Sauce. The egg roll was...OMGG I don't even wanna think about it. The egg roll was basically black and smell like the sewer. For an egg roll to be like that, the oil it was fried in must not have been changed since the opening of the store. Also, WHO THE FUCK DOUBLE WRAPS THE EGG ROLLS?!?! The outer wrapper was fried but the inner wrapper was still raw!! So, we can all conclude our sleepless night on the toilet while puking our guts out! OK chinese food in a blah setting. DON'T ORDER THE CRAB RANGOON! I ordered it, and instead of a delicate crispy wonton wrapped around a delicious mostly crabmeat with a little cream cheese, it's a nasty sweet custard with a small amount of crabmeat. The beef teriyaki skewers were ok, very salty, and hard to eat because they are very tough and the restaurant only provides a fork and a spoon. Orange chicken was delicious, shrimp with spicy tea sauce was great. Entrees are fantastic, appetizers, not so much, at least while I've been there. They also serve you in a semi-strange way. Sodas are plastic bottles, like out of a vending machine, and the rice (white is free, brown is $1 extra) is brought out on a silver-ish stand. The decor is random asian stuff stuck on the walls. Was sat by a woman who was wearing a white apron that completely dirty. The Hot and Sour soup was unlike I ever had. It was dish water with red pepper flakes and carrots. The real test will be the dumplings, if I had my guess they are the typical 5lb bag of dumplings that are pre-made. I have been sitting here alone now for 10 minutes and to set the mood they put on some music in Chinese LOLOL. I ordered the Mongolian Beef only because they have a $10.00 min on credit cards. I hear the best Chinese is in Stone Ridge. Look for that review By the way the woman with the dirty apron tried to charge me more. read more

Staying locally at a place without a restaurant and ignored the front desk's recommendation to skip this restaurant. The only positive I'd give it was the politeness of the woman taking my order and the general decent price. However when I answered the hotel room door with my walker the delivery man didn't let go of my order and extremely rudely asked me "what happened to YOU" Unfortunately I'd already added the tip. On top of that lovely reminder of being handicapped even my simple order was burned and the rest tasteless. The last time we went we were overcharged terribly with no explanation, prices on the bill didn't match the menu and she refused to let us see the menu. Then today we go in and she has no pancakes for the moo shoo chicken (we were told this after she brought the moo shoo out) each item was brought out all different times making our dinning experience longer than it needed to be! Then she forgot my husbands order and brought his food out 20 minutes after we were done eating my food. His order of spicy dry noodles didn't reflect what he has received in the past years. She kept asking if everything was ok especially about the noodles. After she brought my meal out about 15 minutes go by and she brings out 3 pancakes for my moo shoo chicken after we were done eating our meal. Then when we were leaving my husband and I got to the counter to pay and he felt something on his arm and it was a cockroach. He had to look twice to see that it was a cockroach that he had on his arm. (Very disgusting, very disappointed). We live in a buggy area could have been a jersey mosquito, that got it but no it was a cockroach and the front door of the restaurant was wide open for flies and many bugs to come in. A few years ago I drove up to new paltz for a Friday night of bar hopping and binge drinking with my friend. Woke up very hungover and a bit still drunk starving for a quick cheap bite. Figuring Chinese is always a quality hangover meal as we all do here in NYC. Little did I know I was cruisin' towards the worst Chinese take out meal I've had in my entire existence. I ordered a general tso's chicken lunch combo to-go. We eagerly sat in a vacant booth waiting for our food to be made. I was surprised that such a standard meal took over 45 minutes to make. Finally we got our overpriced food and were on our way. Got to the car a realized they didn't give utensils or any sauces at all. Ok no big deal, so far just kinda annoyed at the wait time but I was just happy to be eating. Big mistake. The chicken was thoroughly rubberized. It tasted as if it were microwaved week-old chicken. After fighting through about 3 tough nuggets of fleshy bird, I lost my appetite for it and continued on with the fried rice. The rice was all mush. Like rank salty oatmeal in a sea of grease. But this was more of a "greez" than just regular grease. I don't know how you can get a meal so wrong when it take so long. Way less than half way through the lunch combo, I remember tying up the bag, grossed out and still in need of a good meal.
