I usually order a quart of their Kung Pao chicken which comes with rice and then make it last for at least 2 meals or share with someone else at home. The Kung Pao Chicken is loaded with fresh vegetables, which make it stand out from other competitors. Portion size is huge! As it was, I decided to order a shrimp egg roll and Hunan Shrimp. It was easily the best Chinese takeout I've had in my 12+ years in this area. A few reasons why: the food was flavorful and not greasy at all, unlike many other places I've tried. There was definitely real Szechuan peppercorn in the sauce; I could tell from the persistent tingle in my lips minutes after I ate. The shrimp was generously-sized and generously-portioned, flavorful with that perfect "bouncy" texture. There was also a variety of vegetables in the dish: broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, onions, zucchini, bamboo shoots, baby carrots, snow peas, green pepper. So many places don't offer that nice variety, instead going heavy on the green peppers (which I dislike). My few quibbles were that there was only one egg roll, when the menu said an order was two. Not a huge deal, as I only needed one and the price was fair for one. The other was that I saw no opportunity for special instructions on the order (like "No green peppers, please"). But since the dish had a good balance of vegetables, it also wasn't a big deal. Maybe I caught them on an uncharacteristically good day? The last three dishes I've tried here - Mongolian Beef, Crispy Beef, and Black Pepper Chicken on this visit - were smothered in shiny, sweet brown sauce, and there were far too many superfluous vegetables. I could go there and only eat those and be more than happy. Egg rolls are always on point too. The Black Pepper Chicken was more of the same. There was a cloying sweetness and more vegetables than Jason's Deli's salad bar. I've had this several times at the other spot and was always pleased, and I found this no different. Might drop in again if in the area, but would not head out here with other take out spots much closer, with some excellent food options.
