    Menu from January 2025

I visited on New Year's Day 2025! They have a very small parking lot, but there are also free spots on the street. The menu is extensive. The "Chinese pizza" is very popular. I got the thicker sesame onion bread, but it's a lot for only two people. I recommend sharing this with a bigger group or plan to take leftovers home. They were out of the #38 lamb stew warm pot that night, so I opted for #36 lamb with pickled cabbage warm pot. This was very tasty (it's supposed to be kinda sour) and so good on a cold night. The #67 cumin lamb was very good. The #109 hand-pulled wide noodle with hot sauce was surprisingly good. The male server spoke both Mandarin Chinese and some English. I would come back! Credit card accepted. Bathroom available.

The Greater Los Angeles area has always had hidden pockets of Islamic Chinese restaurants waiting to be discovered. And after visiting a few of these restaurants around the area, I figured I'd expand my horizons and compare to other restaurants in the area. Particularly in Rosemead, I found China Islamic Restaurant with a sum of reviews on Yelp and decided to give them a try. Taking a look at their menu for to-go orders, they appeared to have many options ranging from warm pots to a variety of meat dishes. And for this order, I decided to go with an order of Mongolian Beef which was about $18 at the time of this review. Taking a look at the portion, the box was filled up to the top which was pleasant to see. And inside the dish were a medley of beef, green onions, and white onions. The dish was pretty balanced between the beef and onions which was better than expected and made the dish very enjoyable. China Islamic's Mongolian Beef is definitely on the more modest side with only a few kinds of ingredients inside. But because there were so much of each, I was full after eating the entire dish. For $18 in the San Gabriel Valley, this Mongolian Beef could be considered more pricey when compared to other restaurants in the area. But in all, the price to portion ratio was not bad to say the least. In singing the praises about the quantity, the flavors of the dish unfortunately left more to be desired. In all, the flavor profile of the dish was a mix between sour and savory because of the flavor of the sauce covering all of the ingredients. There were little hints of spice, but only on the surface due to the small pepper seeds speckled on the dish. As for the ingredients, I found the highlights of the dish to be just okay. The white onions were crunchy which were great from a texture standpoint; no problems with these. As for the green onions, I found them to absorb the moisture of the sauce which made them taste slimy in texture. Tasting the beef, each piece was both thin and chewy which made eating the meat more difficult than you would imagine. The meat was also more dry than I would have liked, only receiving moisture from the sauce on top. Rounding up the taste of the dish, the sauce covering the ingredients did not really blend well with the items inside which made the food taste somewhat conflicted. If you're looking to try an Islamic take on Chinese food, China Islamic could potentially be a spot to try. But with a slew of other dishes on their menu, I would be inclined to try another item the next time I drop by. The portion of the dish was pretty good for the 18 dollar price tag you would be paying in the Rosemead area. But with an unintegrated flavor profile and hiccups with the individual ingredients, I'd argue that the Mongolian Beef at China Islamic Restaurant sits at a mid-point 3 star rating. I'm sure there could be other dishes that hit the mark at China Islamic. And I'd definitely be happy to try these out on my next visit. Not bad, could be better!

What I come here for is the green onion pancake and the lamb pickled cabbage soup. This place does not have the visual flair but I'm always leaving with a happy belly. The green onion pancake in both the flat form and thick form are sooo good. Lots of green onion. Lots of sesame. The soup is a perfect sour and my daughter loves it. It was dead on a Friday night which I don't understand. Would hate to see this place go since it really has some of our delicious favorites we can't find elsewhere

I have heard about this place and finally got a chance to visit. Came in early on Sat right after it open. Lunch special is available to order. Green onion sesame pie is great. Not really sure if it is called the lamb stew. It is a soup with various lamb organs and meat. Very tasty. The down size is that not that much stuff overall, but still a good soup. Beef dumplings are great too. Overall, a place I would come back.

Right off the bat the restaurant was empty during lunch hour that should have been a first sign. We had questions about the menu, we ended up order the wrong item because we weren't sure. When we told the waiter we order the wrong item they said it was too late to change the order. The food was bland. Asked for more sauce for the beef the waiter said they didn't have anymore. The Kung Pao chicken was tolerable. Would recommend driving out to Orange County or Long Beach instead for halal Chinese food. There is a good restaurant in Long Beach called Nomads.

The 4 of us especially liked the white fish with basil and the shrimp with snow peas. The rice noodles with seafood and the kung pao were also good. That said, we like our food spicier, so we asked for chili oil and limes. Some dishes did have vegetables, but when I go again I'll order a vegetable dish. Service was stellar - personal, but never intrusive. I liked that we were seated immediately and still given time for our late guests to arrive. Food arrived quickly once we ordered. They were gracious about splitting the tab afterwards, but could easily have asked whether we wanted separate checks since we were 3 unrelated sets of adults that arrived separately. So, what could have been better? The chafing spoons were too small and too few, leaving us to pull the chafing plate to the edge of the lazy Susan and scrape. My dinner plate was too small, so I made a bit of a mess while eating. The main room is noisy, even with some empty tables, Next time I'll ask for a table in the quiet section (to the right when coming in the main door.) I've driven past Newport Seafood many times and not gone in because the parking lot was already full, and it's not my style to park elsewhere and walk over. However, on Monday at 5 PM, we found ample parking. All that said, Newport Seafood seemed at its best when serving special meals to large families all around us. I will think of them next time we celebrate a special family occasion.

Xiao Long Bao's flavor profile tasted more like steamed dumplings. Beef roll didn't taste as good as I remembered (probably because it had slightly less hoisin sauce), but it was still a good beef roll nonetheless. * Personally G4 Black Pepper Beef Fried Udon ($15.99) was a surprising discovery and an S-tier dish. C3 Pan Fried Pork Bao (6 pieces - $13.00) were comparable to the ones from Kang Kang Food Court. 4.5 stars for the food with 4 items enough to feed 3 to 4 adults. The lower reviews are probably due to the service, but in my opinion, a truly authentic Cantonese restaurant should have questionable service because that's exactly what you get at the good places in Hong Kong. The philosophy in Hong Kong is basically "food over service." If they're being too nice, they're probably overcompensating for something haha. Getting either the hot or iced milk tea or lemon tea is a MUST. It's the traditional way to do it, and they even offer unlimited refills! Just be warned that you might not sleep that night because Hong Kong-style tea is no joke when it comes to caffeine. Pro tip: If you get the lemon tea, you have to crush the lemons into the tea to get the right flavor! My friends and I are regulars here. They're open late, and the ambiance is so fun, with tables decorated with mahjong tiles and neon lights that basically scream Asia. The food is top tier and, in my opinion, some of the best Cantonese food you'll find in the U.S. Our go-to orders are the tomato baked rice dishes, stir-fried vegetables, 3-cup dishes, and brisket curries. For something sweet, we always share the classic Cantonese French toast with peanut butter inside or one of the pineapple buns. Definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for an authentic Canto café experience! :)

I came here a few nights ago when the hot pot spot I wanted to eat at was packed and I didn't want to wait. I decided to try HK Macau Bistro instead since I low key wanted to have baked pasta. Restaurant was packed but I was able to be seated right away. I ordered the following dishes: - Baked Fish Fillet with Cream Sauce / Pasta - 8/10. This was really good. The melted cheese on top made this dish so delicious! - Chicken (Half) - 7/10 - This was good but it just tasted like any the chicken at any other place. - Chinese greens - 7/10 - This was okay. Preferred stronger flavors as this tasted kind of bland. - Curry Beef Stew / Tendons - 9/10 - Very tender! I liked this a lot! Would definitely order again! Lemon Iced Tea was yummy! Service was good. Restaurant was clean. Love the H.K. Vibe.

OMG! If you're craving some REALLY good lobster and want to get your money's worth, Boston Lobster…read moreis definitely worth trying! I came here with a friend, just the two of us, and the portions were HUGE. We ordered a lobster that was around 3-4 pounds, and the lobster is priced per pound. I believe we had the Boston Lobster House Special, and we added the noodles for about $10 extra. Let me tell you and it did NOT disappoint. The lobster was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely mouthwatering. The noodles soaked up all that flavor from the lobster and seasoning, and everything together was just delicious. I kept wanting to eat even though I was already getting full! It is a little pricey, especially depending on the size of the lobster you choose, but they give you A LOT of food. There were only two of us, and we each had enough food left over to take home and have another full meal. Honestly, the amount we ordered could have easily fed four people. We also had the shrimp fried rice, which was delicious, and even the lemon iced tea was really good. I wanted to try more things, but there was absolutely no way, we already had so much food! This is definitely more of a family-style dining experience. In my opinion, this isn't your typical quick Chinese food spot or chain restaurant. The quality, freshness, portions, and overall experience put Boston Lobster on another level. I also loved the atmosphere. We sat near the live seafood tanks, so you can actually see the lobsters and other seafood in the tanks, which added to the experience. They also have their own private parking lot with two-hour parking, which is a huge plus. We didn't have reservations and were able to get seated, but I could definitely see this place getting crowded, so reservations may be helpful during busier times. For me, Boston Lobster is easily FIVE STARS. If you're in the Rosemead area looking for delicious Asian seafood and some seriously good lobster, I definitely recommend it. Just make sure you come HUNGRY!

They kept switching out our plates whenever they got filled with empty shells, so we always had a clean plate. The inside was also pretty nice, and you can see all the fish and lobsters in the tanks. Overall, it was a great experience! Definitely on the pricier side, but we had a good time and the food and service made it worth it. Food was everything we expected! We got: Steamed turbo fish 10/10 - it was really flavorful and the ginger and onions on top was an amazing touch. Clams w basil - was very good and fresh. We couldn't stop eating it 10/10 House special lobster - was fire!! It was very easy to take out the shell and it was so tasty. Would definitely recommend! 100/10 French beef - not the star of the show but still was really flavorful! 9/10 Sour soup - it was a good soup and tasted like all the other sour soup nothing too special :) 8/10 Ong choy - we needed some vegetable on the table and steamed ong choy w garlic was really good and refreshing. 10/10 Fried rice - matched w everything we were eating 9/10
