    Cold side dishes
    Will M.

Haven't been here in a while, but this review is mainly for their cold dish appetizer bar which is pretty popular. When I went there was a small line just for that section. The cold dishes are solid and they have a good variety of both vegetables and meats. I usually load up on about 3 items, mostly meat. My go tos are the chili oil pig ears, pork tongue, and the fuqi feipian (beef and tripe in chili oil). They also sell a bunch of frozen items like xiao long bao and dumplings if you want to take something home. Overall a really solid spot if you're craving these kinds of cold appetizers. Pair it with a bowl of rice and you're good.

I haven't dined in here yet, but a friend recommended this spot for their takeout appetizers and side dishes. You can choose three veggie options for only $9.99 plus tax, and they pack the container so full it looks like a little mountain! I've already stopped by twice recently. My go-to selections are the shredded potatoes, seaweed salad, cucumbers, tofu skin, mustard greens, oyster mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, and spicy tofu. They make great side dishes, or I'll just eat them with rice. The portion is so generous that it usually lasts my husband and me at least two meals. I'm hoping to come back soon to actually dine in and try their noodles and other menu items.

This review is just for the amazing selection of appetizer/cold dishes as we didn't have a chance to try out their noodles and other foods. They have a wide selections of vegetarian and meat appetizers, ranging from seaweed and dried tofu, to pig ears and gizzards. They have one standard size of to go boxes, and you can pick 1-3 either vegetarian or meat items for each box, the vegetarian box is $11.04 and meat box is $15.46 with tax. Service is prompt, the appetizers lasts a few days in the frig and taste is delicious! Parking: located in the same shopping center as the 168 Market, there are plenty of free parking.

One of the best restaurants for spicy but flavorful food. Their vegetarian hot and sour noodle soup is one of the best in town. The portions are also huge especially the noodles. It is a great item to share so you can try other dishes. Their stir fried veggies are always a hit and their service is always fast. It is a reasonable price restaurant.

Yunnan Restaurant in San Gabriel is similar to their original store in Monterey Park in their menu but their side dish counter is smaller with less items. You can choose 3 side meat dishes for $15 vegetarian for $11 or mix for $13. They pile on the items so definitely a good value. We usually get the signature Yunnan crossing bridge rice noodles. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location is smaller and not as popular as the Monterey Park store.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plenty of parking in the large shopping center.

First time trying this restaurant and I am so glad I did. We had the lamb dry pot and a tofu with seafood dis. The lamb dry pot is so flavorful and perfectly cooked, the tofu is tender and mildly flavored, perfectly balanced the spiciness of the lamb dry pot. We will be coming her more often since the price is very reasonable and portion is generous.

I underestimate how well done the majority of the hot dishes here are. The Spicy Boiled Fish is far more flavorful than the same dish at practically every other restaurant. It could be garlic, or MSG, but whatever it is works great. I like that it's not watery, but rather more saucey which goes well with rice. The Mapo Tofu is the most flavorful I've tried as well with the perfect balance of numbing, spicy, and other flavors. You really can't go wrong with any of the hot dishes. The cold dishes I feel could be tastier but they're adequate, while the cucumbers are quite a large chunk so it's not pleasant to bite.

100%漂亮饭!老板人很好,菜非常好吃!This restaurant is absolutely amazing. Everything I've tried here has been consistently delicious, and the quality never misses. The flavors are bold, the portions are generous, and you can tell real care goes into every dish. I loved it so much that I already know I'll be coming back again and again. Honestly, if I could, I'd order at least 100 Calderon steaks--that's how good it is. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a spot they'll want to make their new go-to.

Stumbled upon this place on E. Las Tunas and it's become my comfort food haven. The broth here is something else - you can really taste the care that goes into it. I always leave feeling so satisfied.

The food is delicious and hospitality was great. It has an authentic taste of Szechuan and has a great spicy level. Love it!

We ended up getting a set for $168 this time, which came with 6 dishes. It's also $35 per lb for lobster, and I asked for the smallest one. This is what I thought about the food we got. House Seafood Soup - Simple and clean soup. Good portion, and it was soothing to eat. Lots of squid. (4/5) Clams with Spicy Sauce - Large clams with tons of meat, and the sauce was fire. Always a good choice. (5/5) Crab with Salt & Pepper - Loved the seasoning, and the flavors were solid. (4.5/5) Thai Style Beef Stew - First time trying this, and it was good. A bit different, but the meat chunks were tasty and the overall flavors were good. (4/5) Sautéed Pea Sprouts - Nicely done vegetable dish. It's simple but refreshing with good flavors. (4/5) Fried Whole Fish - This dish was gone so fast because it was delicious. Nicely fried and not overly seasoned. (5/5) Signature Lobster - I feel like you have to get this here since it's their specialty. It's pricey, but in my opinion, it's the best and freshest lobster in town. Tons of green onions, seasoned well, fresh meat, and lots of lobster roe. (5/5) Service was good, and they didn't automatically add a mandatory tip for a large party. The total came out to around $364, which is pricey, but the food was phenomenal. Parking - Valet only, but they have street parking in front. I parked on the street since there were plenty of spots on a Wednesday, but I assume it gets busy on weekends.

The house special crab…read moreand fried calamari were pretty yummy, but not very happy with how our food was handled... One of the dish we ordered was the house special sauce crab with market price of ~$26 per pound. We added the noodles for $10. Normal practice the server should come and advise on the size of our crab before making so we can choose how big the crab we want for our dish, because we're paying by pound for the dish anyway... but within 2 minutes of placing the order, a crab dish arrived... HA! Problem 1: The server originally tried to give the crab dish to the table next to us and the folks refused the dish... then the server turned around and placed the dish onto our table for us. CLEARLY they made a mistake and made the wrong dish for next table and decide to not waste food and gave it to us. We asked if that was really our dish and they said yes... what a lie! The kitchen took 2 mins to cook our dish? haha...dumb! Next table was there before us and their house special lobster noodles arrived 10-15 minutes later. First they made a mistake, then tried to lie to cover it up. No one is stupid here. We would have been ok if they were honest about it and ask if we would accept that dish with no complain here. Problem 2: The table next to us got their plates changed multiple times and NOT once did someone came to check on us about changing plates. Problem 3: Our bill came. They charged our crab as 2.5 pounds. What a joke! I'm a crab person. I know my crabs. That tiny crab is probably around 1.5 pounds - 2 pounds max. (Check out the picture to see the small crab shell and the tiny pieces of the crab legs and meat pieces on the edge of the plate). The $10 they charged for noodles was a huge portion, but that is not the same value as 1 pound of crab that they overcharged us for the dish. The house special crab was pretty tasty and we like the fried calamari. The veggie was decent and soup was pretty weak... our bill was $150 and I tipped $20 for the experience. Be grateful and work on improving your practice
