This place is great! The service was top notch the lady was literally so kind. I ordered 40 mins to close and the food was so delicious. Other places if you call late like that they put no effort into making the food and it's trash but this place the food was so delicious! I ordered hot and sour soup and I thought it would be about 8-16 oz well it was like 32oz!!!! Great portion size! Chicken wings were hot and crispy and great size. The combination sesame chicken platter was just enough and the chicken was great quality not too much breading and a rich sauce lots of flavor. One of the best Chinese food I've had in years! I highly recommend them I am so happy I stumbled upon them tonight!!! Thank you China Tiger!!! ALSO BONUS they gave me free cookies so really can't get much better than that. If you're looking for a caricature of Chinese take-out, you can't find anything more perfect than China Tiger--from the grammatically incorrect name, right down to the greasy, over-stuffed take-out boxes. True, it's by no means health food, but it is the best damn Chinese food in the area--everything always tastes fresh, the meat is lean (and consistent with its stated animal of origin), and the fried rice is authentic--none of that frozen-mixed-vegetable crap. I usually go for the pork lo-mein, while my husband favors General Tso's chicken--always with their super-tasty egg rolls---followed by a couple hours of marinating on the sofa in our respective MSG-induced food comas. Ahhh, my token Chinese food place for when I'm in New Brighton/Mounds View... It's one of my fav's really!!! :-) It's nice, greasy, saucy, and best of all, it's all fresh. You can watch them cook it if you so choose to! They have a great buffte (when it's available), and prices are actually quite reasonable! They do have delivery charges if it is less than a $15 order, but lets be honest, it's more fun to pick up your food sometimes! read more

My friend is a dedicated "cheap Chinese" fan and casts his net wide when it comes to places he will try. Kung Pao chicken in Oaklahoma, General Tso's in Phoenix, buffets in Bloomington, it really doesn't matter where the guy resides, he's gonna find his way to a poo poo platter. His wife and I don't share the same zeal for this type of food. Mostly because it can be pretty junky. The worst part is the day after when you feel like you drank a sewage smoothie. I decided to surprise them with a bag of China Tiger take out last night. I knew one of us would be pumped. I read good reviews and it's pretty close to home so I just went for it. I had a great first impression on the phone as the lady was super friendly and engaging. The guy who gave me my food was the same. They were obviously busy but efficient, on time, and accurate. We had peanut szechuan dumplings, shrimp egg foo young, and tiger chicken. Not bad at all! I'm not sure exactly how egg foo young is supposed to be as I never order it but it was fun to eat. It's fluffy, crunchy, savory, slightly salty and with a comforting gravy. My friend loved the tiger chicken and proclaimed that China Tiger is his new spot. Even his wife said it's the best version of "cheap Chinese" she's had. We had a winner last night! I wouldn't be surprised if my friend orders it twice this week. read more

When we showed up this place, it seemed like the entire family was hanging out behind the counter and everyone greeted us when we walked in, and the owner/chef (I think?) talked our ear off as we tried to decide what to order. It was completely adorable. We ordered the Tiger Chicken on his recommendation, an order of Sesame Chicken, and cream cheese wontons. The sesame chicken was decent - it wasn't like most sesame chicken I've had; it was really saucy and the sauce had a kick to it, but it was still tasty. The cream cheese wontons were good, but nothing special. However, the Tiger Chicken was AMAZING. Smoky and garlicky with a hint of a spice I can't put my finger on. The white rice was cooked perfectly (that's usually something I could care less about but it was so good that I thought it was worth commenting on). We'll definitely be going back. read more

What a great little place, I'm happy we gave it a try. The people taking our order were incredibly nice and polite. They even gave us free donuts for supporting the business during this tough time. The food was fresh, perfectly packed, and tasty as heck! I had the House Special duck and it was a winner. Also had the sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken, amazing! And the often forgotten white rice was the best white rice I've had from a take out Chinese restaurant. Some places give you "minute" rice quality but not China Tiger. I ordered a beef fried rice and the lady ok the phone was in such a rush and seems very distracted asking for my phone number twice and address twice. She said goodbye without telling me how long it was going to take. When the food arrived it was a plain fried rice, I called her back and told her I asked for a beef fried rice not a plain one. Her response was "You said plain!" I said no I said beef, you seemed very distracted when you took my order so it was probably just a mistake. She proceeded to say "No no no there were only two customers and you said plain!" She then told me they don't do refunds and that if I wanted another fried rice I have to give back the one she gave me. I said that's fine she can have it then she said hold on hold on and then she said if I wanted another fried rice I needed to pay for it. Worst customer service ever and I also ordered steamed dumplings with Szechuan chicken which were both disgusting. read more

Greasy fast food in the area. Still not as good as greasy fast chinese place we like in Brooklyn Center. My sesame chicken was drowning in sauce. Very disappointing. Perhaps they had a bad day, but the sweet-and-sour chicken was dry and chewy as if it were heated-up leftovers. Same with the fried rice. Even the white rice was bad. China Tiger is my go to place for Chinese food. 85%-90% of the time the food is amazing. However, they do have times when the food is below par, and this is why I only give 4 stars. The fried rice is the best around, the Hunan style food and the Garlic chicken are delicious. They do have a bit of trouble fulfilling special requests (like no mushrooms or baby corn, etc...) but this may be due to language barrier. Overall I do like the place and suggest it to my friends. Went here because of the reviews and stars. Wasn't too far away, about 6-7 miles. Got beef fried rice and shrimp egg foo young, and vegetable fried rice with vegetable egg foo young. I also got chicken wings and shrimp fried rice. The rice was good but didn't seem fresh, and it also had toooooo many onions. The egg foo young was good as well but still toooo many large chunks of onions. Now for the worst part. The chicken wings... They were really big wings, which kinda scares me. But they were also really dark, but not crispy at all. It seemed as if they were possibly fried in really old oil or something. I was kinda disappointed. I picked over one of the wings and the rest just sat in the fridge for about a week until I threw it out. I have teenage kids who always seem to be hungry, and even they wouldn't even try them. It's really sad because I was stoked and thought I might've found a new Chinese food home, but after trying them I'll probably never go back. read more

1. Fried dumplings were severely drenched in oil from the fry-o-lator and it was accompanied with a nice pool of fry-o-lator grease underneath it. . 2. Sweat and sour shrimp was overcooked- the batter was a boarder line burnt dark brown resulting not only in the batter crumbling to the bite but overcooked leather like shrimp. I called the place to discuss the shrimp (I did not even bring up the dumplings) the hostess told me that they are frozen in the batter and that is how it is. I explained to her that the frozen already battered shrimp were overcooked. She proceeded to repeat the same thing. I then explained again what the issue was. She then told me that I did not understand what she was saying. Hmmm...I thought I did a good job understanding her broken english. I just let it go and figured I would post the experience. I have tried many different dishes of theirs (including take-out, lunch specials, appetizers, etc.) over the past year and all have been EXCELLENT! They also have a nice little dining area. If you want to sample some of their menu items, I highly recommend the daily lunch specials (nice portions at a great price). I was very disappointed in our experience at china tiger. We placed our order at 5 and called to check on it at 5:45 since we had not heard anything yet. They stated they just received our online order 2 minutes ago, even though I received the confirmation email at 5:02. Which would have been fine but once we got the food it tasted like it was made hours ago. Everything was cold , the cream cheese wontons were burnt , and the shrimp fried rice didn't have a single piece of shrimp in it. read more
