I took a trip today to get some my favorite sides from here it was not good the rice was hard and it taste old, I think this was probably a week ago . I also got the noodles and they had so much oil and it was nasty . So disappointed bc I used to love this little place

Ordered the war wonton soup. Took ten minutes . Busy and quick is good sign. Food was good and quick

Okay food and questionable cleanliness.. What I disliked about my experience: while waiting for my food, I see the one chef step away from cooking to blow his nose and go right back to cooking without handwashing or sanitizing. A few minutes later I see another worker peeling vegetables on a table next to me with no cutting board or mat being used - he just poured the veggies directly onto the table and is peeling them into a delivery bag with no gloves. I don't expect these A1 cleanliness from these types of places, but as a customer these actions are pretty gross. This place is really just a ghost kitchen and tailored more for delivery/takeout. Food was just okay - kung pal chicken was good, fried rice and chow mein were meh. Never coming back here again

Ordered via Door Dash. Arrived well packaged, hot and accurate. They didn't skimp on quality ingredients! Chicken fried rice had large pieces of high grade chicken. The house special pepper beef steak had awesome tender filet mignon and lots of fresh peppers and onions. Egg rolls didn't disappoint either.

Previous orders

As the photo below shows, I've been ordering here regularly, literally for years. Food was always consistent, delivery was always within 45 minutes. Last month I placed an order and was surprised to get a text that Uber Eats would be delivering my order. When they didn't show up after an hour, I went to call the restaurant and realized I had missed texts from the Uber Eats driver asking what my address was. Then there was a picture of the food left in front of a door I didn't recognize and the house number in the photo wasn't even close to the number I provided. I tried texting and calling the Uber Eats number; the texts were rejected and the number directed me to a pre-recorded message that the number wasn't available. I called China West, explained the situation and they looked it up, then called me back and said they confirmed it was delivered to the wrong address, but said I'd have to take it up with Uber Eats. I explained I didn't order from Uber Eats; I'd ordered directly from the China West Express website. The person said they couldn't do anything; I'd have to contact Uber Eats and hung up. Will never order from here again.

China West Express is a little hole in the wall place that just might be your best bet for Americanized Chinese food in Tustin. Although they do have a few tables inside, it is primarily a to go place. I've yet to see anyone eating inside. The to go orders are very well packed up, so much so the food will still be hot when you get it home. The place is a 15 minute drive for me. The folks who run the counter have always been very friendly and polite. The entrees are cooked to order, which is far superior to a nearby competitor's practice of serving food out of chaffing dishes. Expect about 10 minutes for your order to come out, but it could be a little longer if they are busy. No biggie. Their generously portioned Lunch Box deal is a great value. For $10.99 you get your choice of entree, your choice of chow mein or white rice, your choice of egg flower or hot and sour soup, your choice of a canned soft drink, an egg roll, and a fortune cookie. The food is good, but I don't care for their chow mein, so I go with steamed white rice. It's a good place and one of the gems of Tustin. My pics are better if you click on them.

There was a crowd of people waiting outside so I was a bit nervous that it would take really long. But we added our name to the waitlist on the iPad outside and we were sat in less than 30 minutes (when we went on the list, we were party 13). The wait went by super fast! By the time we finished our meal, there were lots of open seats. I first heard of this place as a "copycat Din Tai Fung". I actually think it's better to think of this place as another Taiwanese restaurant that serves similar food to DTF, but not a copycat. Although some of the popular items are the same (XLBs for example) the restaurants are definitely different. Firstly, the service here is SO FAST. And all the servers were really kind! We ordered our food and it felt like everything came out within MINUTES of each other. By the time we had all our savory dishes, I had only taken one bite out of the first dish. That's how fast it was! Haha We ended up ordering: Spicy XLBs, Beef Roll, Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup, and Taro XLBs for dessert. Everything was DELICIOUS! My husband's favorite was the Beef Roll, while I think my favorite may have been the soup. The Spicy XLBs (4/5) were great! They felt quite large as I ALMOST had to eat them in two bites (but like why would I ever do that). Flavor was great and I thought there was actually very little spice in these. Compared to DTF'x XLBs, I thought these were just as juicy, but less ginger-forward (which made it feel less flavorful), and more sweet. I was personally missing some acid and wanted a bit more salt cuz it was a tad sweet. The Beef Rolls were pretty good too (4.25/5)! Nice and crispy. Even though it's pan fried, it felt light because of the vegetables. And I know this is weird to say, but the combination of beef, hoison sauce, and veggies almost tasted like pho flavors...but crispy? Yummy! I personally again wanted a bit more salt. But I'd definitely order again. Now for my favorite, the Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup (4.5/5). WOOWWEEE! She's spicy! And I have a good spice tolerance so beware. I really loved the flavor of the broth. It was spicy and also had a really clean flavor. It looked like it would be a watery broth but WRONG! It was so flavorful. I loved the chewy noodles too and even the noodles on their own were spicy cuz they clung onto the broth. A really delicious soup! I'd love to eat this on a cold winter's day or when I'm sick. Delicious! The Taro XLBs (3.9/4) were pretty good too, but skippable. They weren't too sweet, which was nice. They had a lovely consistency and good taro flavor. But compared to everything else, they weren't that special. Overall, a really delicious restaurant! I'd definitely come here if I was craving XLBs/Taiwanese food.

We waited one hour on my visit, but that is to be expected as the restaurant is quite small. Beef Rolls (5/5): We got two orders of these, and it was our favorite for a reason. Crispy and flaky wrap on the outside and it was packed with flavor. It was very satisfying to eat! Scallion Pancakes (3.5/5): They were plain but that is to be expected, I didn't taste much scallion. It needed the sauce of course! Spicy Wontons (4/5): These are solid and the chili oil does pack a lot of heat. I would say they are on the spicier side, just wish there was a little more depth to it. Seven Grams XLB (4/5): Juicy and flavorful! Not the absolute best I've had, but still worth ordering. Golden Beef Noodle Soup (5/5): This bowl right here was amazing. Green leafy kale paired with the extra hearty soup was what made this bowl a standout dish for me. 100% would order this alone! Mapo Tofu (5/5): Yummy silky tofu cubes with the minced meat sauce were delicious in every bite! I had no other complaints, but this dish gets very filling easily. Seriously, this place is one of my favorite places in Tustin. The service one inside is efficient, and the ambience is a bit noisy and packed, but this place is popular for a reason. I'll definitely revisit this spot when I get the chance.

This is a chain and I've been to the ones in LA and always enjoyed the food there. I was happy to see one open up in the OC. The interior is very unassuming and is next to a bulk sized grocery store for Asian food. The signs are almost hidden from the front so you wouldn't know to look for it unless you read these reviews first! We tried a variety of items: Shrimp egg rolls, fish with seaweed, fried pork buns, Shanghai rice cakes, and salt and pepper pork. All the items were really tasty except for the fried pork buns - don't get those. The bun part was very mushy and you didn't get any soup inside. The fish with seaweed and salt and pepper pork chops were excellent. Very flavorful and not too salty. I would definitely get those again. The Shanghai style rice cakes are also very good, nice and chewy, definitely cooked correctly. And you can't go wrong with the shrimp egg rolls - they came with large chunks of shrimp which was nice. Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous compared to what you would find in Irvine for similar quality. I would come back!

I really wish they would bring it back because it was one of the restaurant's signature dishes and a favorite among many customers. During this visit, I ordered the sliced pork and the jelly noodles. The sliced pork was incredibly tender, with a clean, fresh flavor that let the ingredients' quality shine. The jelly noodles were refreshing, spicy, and full of bold Sichuan flavors. The combination of heat, seasoning, and texture was simply delicious. The dessert was also surprisingly good. It reminded me of mochi, topped with puffed rice that added a pleasant crunch and contrast to the soft, chewy texture. If you're looking for authentic Sichuan food in Los Angeles, I highly recommend Sichuan Impression. The restaurant itself is a bit on the small side so you'll be close to your neighbors not that it was an issue personally. My buddy and I ordered our items and shared with each other for a good full experience. We got the three-in-one noodles medium heat and the Ma Hu Beef noodles with mild heat alongside the cucumbers with medium heat as an appetizer. Cucumbers were very fresh! However, they really were just cucumbers with a little heat on them so they weren't anything too special. Once the main entrees came in, I couldn't stop myself from digging in! I forgot to take a picture until after some damage was done to our meals. Three-in-one was so flavorful and sweet with the noodles becoming incredibly soft after having mixed it all together. The star of the show for me though was the Ma Hu Beef noodles. The beef was remarkably tender and delicious and the noodles had a firmer texture that complimented with the flavors. Oddly enough, the mild heat on the Ma Hu Beef was spicier than the medium heat three-in-one! If you find yourself in the mood for Biangbiang noodles, this is definitely the spot to go to. On a side unrelated note about the parking which did not influence my review; the parking here is rough. It's consistently packed so watch out for that. There is a structure across the street that allows parking for the food court. I parked in the structure but I had a bad experience because since it's also parking for the residents above, the gate was closed on us after 8pm. I had to wait for a vehicle to come out and open the gate for not only just me but for multiple other people that had also parked in the structure!Just something to keep in mind.
