This place used to offer amazing Chinese food. Over the years it has seriously declined. We went into the restaurant tonight and placed a to-go order. Among the items was a large egg drop soup. Upon opening it, there is a dead bug floating around in it. If you scroll through their reviews, this is not the 1st time this has happened to someone. Currently on the phone with them right now, and they are making it difficult to receive a credit card credit from them. Bad food, bad customer service.

This is the first place I stopped after my 4 hour drive. I was super hungry and wanted to grab some takeout and get to my hotel. The staff was really nice and food was cooked quickly. The spring rolls seemed to have too much lemon flavor. Shrimp and broccoli was just ok. Did receive a lot of shrimp though. Wish there was a little more flavor. But not the worse Chinese food in the world ... Also no utensils were included:/

The food was ok but not good as before. Yesterday I ordered half peaking duck and it always comes with plum sauce and pancake. However this time was different as you see in a picture. So i called to verify and the girl said we always sale like that way not with the separate sauce. She was wrong. customer service was so bad. Whenever i ask something she put on hold for like 3 minuets again and again. She doesn't even know what is in the food, and top of the hot sauce they gave was not fresh it was smelling so bad.

Notice the white dead insect at spoons edge. Was found in seafood noodle soup home delivered.

The best Chinese food I've had in Nova so far. A little on the expensive side. Staff is very friendly. Delivery is very fast.

The portions are incredibly generous, and every dish we tried was delicious. The drunken noodles were packed with flavor, the fried rice was perfectly cooked, the Tso's chicken was excellent, and the steamed fish was fresh and beautifully prepared. The highlight of the meal was the spectacular tableside Flambé dessert--it was both delicious and a fun experience. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The owners were also warm and welcoming, adding to the wonderful dining experience. And don't skip the beer--it was fantastic! Great food, generous portions, outstanding hospitality, and excellent value. We'll definitely be back.

But what we did get was pretty darn good (if a bit pricey)! The style is much more authentic, so if you're looking for something like Hunan Cafe (Greenbriar), or that NOVA institution China King, this is different. Is it better? For the most part, yes. (But I still crave that Americanized sweet, spicy, glazey brown sauce that comes in slight variations in so many dishes). I had the hot and sour soup, Szechuan spicy fried eggplant sticks, Taiwanese rice noodles with fried tofu, and the Chengdu twice cooked pork. Everything was excellent, except....the hot and sour soup. Honestly, Hunan Cafe and China King beat the pants off this place's hot and sour soup. Here, it was a bit too sweet. It had some red chilies in it, but I could not detect much white pepper. And it's a vegetarian version, so no small bits of chicken or pork. I'd skip this the next time I order from here. But the other dishes... amazing! The noodles were light-tasting but still delicious. The eggplant was garnished with cilantro, garlic, salt, and red chili sauce. The twice cooked pork was sauteed with sliced leeks and the same red chili sauce. I think that's the fresh, zingy, spice flavor profile I like that can't be found at Americanized Chinese restaurants. Sure, China King has its place and I'll still go back there when I'm close (RIP China King Fair Lakes and Herndon). And admittedly, I go to that awful Panda chain occasionally because I never learn. The unfortunate thing is, I'll more likely go to these places than Cheng's because of the price. The pork dish was $21 and the noodle dish was $19. My total bill came to $60 before tax and tip. If I need to stuff my face with a Chinese umami bomb fast, I'm probably going to the other places for $15-30. I do want to try the rest of the menu at Cheng's, but it's going to be a drawn-out process for the sake of my wallet. I'd be remiss if I didn't include a comment from my dining partner. She compared the quality and taste of the food at Cheng's to Peter Chang's (either Peter Chang's-Herndon, or Mama Chang Fairfax). A high compliment. But she said the value is better at those places' AYCE options than what we got at Cheng's, and I agree. If you've been to none of these places, you have to try them all at least once.

Friends recommended Lin's and I'm pleased to say this may be our go to! We ordered online and picked it up on a Sunday evening and there were several folks dining in at the time which is great to see. The inside was very clean with all the sauces and utensils/chopsticks available to grab when you pick up the order. They had a hot sauce which we liked. We ordered general Tsos, hunan chicken, Taiwan rice noodles and vegetable rolls. Both the general tsos and hunan came with small containers of white rice. The veggie rolls were just spring rolls with cabbage but the shell was crispy and the cabbage still held up.. no mushy insides. The general tsos chicken was all white meat and good texture, but a bit lacking in spice. When we order again we will ask for more spice. Similarly the hunan chicken had a pepper next to it on the menu but had very little spice, but was redeemed by the number of fresh veggies. The squash in it was amazing! The noodles were not greasy, had good flavor and came with a good amount of chicken, beef and shrimp. The lack of grease and oil was very refreshing and will definitely have us ordering again! Someone dining in had a mountain of fried rice that looked and smelled amazing so will be trying that next.
