Great value for money. They charge $6.99 for every pound of food (same price for their Mongolian Grill) and although they offer small, compact styrofoam boxes, you can still pack them with a lot. You can't see, but under my chow mein is fried fish, red bean fried balls, honey walnut shrimp, fried shrimp, broccoli with beef, fried plantains, and shrimp and corn in à Cajun sauce. It's self-serve and the only time you come in contact with staff is when you pay. My only gripe is that most of the dishes are very oily. The place is clean and spacious, and not too many people were there at noon. Give it a shot! You might like it.

Tried this Mongolian Chinese BBQ spot for the first time and it was excellent. The food was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly & the workers on the grill really know what they're doing, which makes a big difference at places like this. There was a small language barrier at first, but it wasn't an issue. I just grabbed a bowl, picked my items, and they pointed me in the right direction for how it works. Everything was straightforward and totally fine. I tried the teriyaki chicken and even the leftover/scrap pieces were delicious, which says a lot about the quality and seasoning. Pricing is fair at $6.99 per pound; our total came out to $36.95, which felt reasonable for the amount and quality of food. We ate inside and had an Arizona drink with it, simple and satisfying. Overall a great experience and I'd definitely come back & next time probably bringing friends or family. Highly recommend.

We wanted to have an inexpensive dinner before going to a concert without a long wait time. This restaurant offers self serve from the buffet and you pay depending on the weight of your order. I picked out my favorites with the slippery walnut shrimp and a Thai tea. The combo is average for what is paid at other fast food Chinese restaurants. The food was so good I can see why this place is so popular.

    Rude cashier!

Horrible customer service. I ordered two drinks and confirmed with the cashier that I could grab them myself. After I picked them up and sat down to eat, the cashier came over making a scene and speaking loudly in another language. It turned out she had only charged me for one drink and assumed I had taken the second without paying. As soon as I realized the mistake, I immediately got up and paid for the second drink because it was never my intention to leave without paying. I also calmly told the cashier that there was no need to make a public scene over what was clearly a misunderstanding. She ignored me and never apologized for accusing me. Mistakes happen, but the way this situation was handled was unprofessional and embarrassing. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, it will also be my last.

I was discussing with a family member about why I prefer Mongolian BBQ over traditional Chinese food. In one word, it's the ratios. I love having control over what goes into my food and in what proportion. I don't like the way Chinese food joints mix the proteins and veggies together, and then pour a random sauce on it. I like picking my veggies. I like picking my sauces. And I really love hitting a good 40% protein, 40% carb, and 20% veggies ratio. That's why I love places like Pei Wei and Mongolian BBQ joints, because nothing is written in stone. You can decide what happens with your meal at its most basic level. And New China ups the control by not even having a set price, instead just weighing the whole affair and charging you one price for it. It doesn't matter what your ratio is. You could even load up on proteins, including shrimp and beef, and it wouldn't change the price. I adore that. Again, not what I like but I'm sure there are folks who appreciate hitting those protein loads without breaking the bank. The service was great. The guy manning the grill was considerate and knew what he was doing, getting my food mixed well and quickly. He even asked how much teriyaki I wanted and took into account that I didn't want my food overly sweet. The counter person was the same way, explaining succinctly how their process worked and how it differed from other bbq joints. The ambience was good too. They had tons of tables, both inside and out. There doesn't seem to be a gluttony of people that would make me hesitate coming in for dinner or lunch for fear of having no place to sit. Could they use more? Sure. But I don't know how much more you could squeeze in without feeling like sardines. Overall, this is a great place for Mongolian BBQ, especially if you're a believer in having it your way 24/7.

The egg drop soup is tasteless and full of lumpy overcooked eggs. Full egg yoke visible in photo. Very disappointing.

So I wanted to check out a new Mongolian BBQ spot out in La Verne for dinner. Parking lot was pretty packed when I pulled in. The restaurant was busy but I was able to get my order on the grill pretty quickly. The food was $6.99/lb and my plate came out to about $10 for the plate. Very solid meal and pretty affordable as well!

Mango smoothie, Chinese food, chow mein, mushroom chicken, beef broccoli, orange chicken, barbecue chicken, battered shrimp.

While it's not a buffet. It is a $6.99 a lbs. my plate came out to $~10 plus smoothie so about $15 to 17 with tip. Food is ok. The big extra is the Mongolian stir fry. You pick and they fry. Food is ok not too big of a deal. Nice place for an experience on a first date or a friend. Pretty good deal if you ask me

House Chow Mein , Beef Broccoli, Orange Chicken - all so delicious!

This is my second time here, and it still doesn't disappoint! The food is incredibly delicious and freshly made every day. The service could use a little improvement, as it feels a bit rushed with the focus on getting people in and out. However, the food is worth it, and I'll definitely be back!

So here's my good and not so good. Good: the service here is amazing, friendly attentive and I watched every dine in customer receive extraordinary care. The portion sizes are huge and the whole restaurant felt like you were in someone's own kitchen on a weekend morning with all of the right smells in the air for a great brunch. Here's the not so good: it took 4 minutes shy of an hour to get lunch for 2 (2 order of chicken tenders, side of red beans and rice and an order of hush puppies ) prepared. Although the booths were full, most of the tables had their food, so it didn't appear to be a lot of tickets stacked up. When my order was finally delivered, and I took the10 minute drive back home, I opened the bag to fund 3 brown paper bags, wet, soggy and soaking in grease. Because the food hadn't been allowed to cool a bit and it was placed in a plastic bag with no way to vent out steam, every item was soggy and falling apart. The fries were wet and soggy, the chicken had all of the dry coat falling off and most the seasoning was pulled off of the batter that was left because of the water and steam. Additionally, the red beans and rice were so wet, they were almost soup. One of the orders had potato salad as a side, but to received overcooked soggy fries instead. The hush puppies were way over cooked, they had passed the golden brown cook level and were a black brown color and were sort of flavorless and really soggy from the heat of the plastic bag. I'm sure that most of this could have been avoided if I hadn't placed a to go order. But I'm leaving this review so that when you order from this little gem, you consider dining in or asking for the foot with plenty of lead time so that they don't rush, improperly pack the food for transit (let it cool off a bit) and have the time to make sure the order is correct, and cooked to a standard that best represents the business. Pomona needs Day-Days as a locally owned, black owned soul food restaurant. Switching from plastic to paper bags and giving the food time to vent will go a long way with quality for the customer. In the end the food tasked good, I'm sure was prepared with love, but fell flat on the delivery. All of that said, patronize this restaurant!!!!

That was understandable, and I had assumed it was free because of some older menu photos on Yelp. Since I enjoyed the food, I decided to come back and order in person to avoid miscommunication. One thing I will mention is that they didn't include BBQ sauce on the side when I ordered via Uber Eats. If you're ordering a brisket sandwich, the sauce that's already on it isn't really enough. Today, I specifically asked to buy two pieces of cornbread because that was what I was really looking forward to. By the time I got home, I ate my sandwich and found a piece of hair in it. Not ideal, but mistakes happen. Then I went to get my cornbread and realized it wasn't in the bag at all. I had specifically asked for it, and I don't know whether I was charged for it because I didn't ask for a receipt since I paid by card. The workers were very friendly, and the food itself has been good except for the hair in my sandwich and today's Mac and cheese was very salt Overall my experience was pretty disappointing because again I did not get the corn bread I specifically came for and the hair in my food and the Mac and cheese was so salty I didn't even eat it. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst restaurant experience we've ever had. While we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, our waitress offered to bring us cornbread. She never mentioned there was a charge, didn't ask how many we wanted, and simply brought out two orders. Since she offered it and never explained it was an extra charge, we naturally assumed it was complimentary for the birthday celebration. Things only went downhill from there. The rest of our group was given a hard time at the front because they didn't know the exact name the reservation was under. We were also given grief for placing birthday presents on a chair at the end of the table, a chair the staff had placed there. We were told the chair was interfering with the wait staff, even though it wasn't blocking any walkways. It seemed like every interaction came with unnecessary attitude. Once we were all seated, our waitress seemed to have a chip on her shoulder from the start. She never brought out our ranch-style bread, rarely refilled our drinks, and repeatedly reached across the table, passing plates directly in front of people's faces instead of simply walking around to serve them properly. When our dinners arrived, our empty salad and appetizer plates were still sitting on the table. We had to ask her to clear them just so we had room for our meals. If we needed anything, we had to catch her as she hurried past our table because she never stopped to check on us. She would keep walking while we tried to ask for what we needed, so we had to quickly rattle everything off before she disappeared. To top it off, she was openly talking about our table to the guests seated behind us. It was completely unprofessional and made us feel uncomfortable. The level of service was disappointing from beginning to end. When my bill came, the total didn't add up correctly. I politely pointed out the discrepancy, but instead of checking it, she came back with the menu to prove I was wrong. Ironically, the menu proved she was the one who made the mistake. She even tried telling me I was comparing the menu price to a receipt total that included tax. I had to explain that the tax was calculated separately at the bottom of the receipt. Rather than apologize, she walked away and sent the manager over. Thankfully, the manager immediately recognized the error and corrected my bill. By that point, my family had enough and just wanted to pay and leave. To make matters worse, they were told they couldn't pay until everyone at the table had received their bill. The food didn't make up for the service, either. It was hot and humid inside the restaurant, the burger was as tough as a hockey puck, they were out of beef ribs so we settled for pork ribs that were mostly fat, and the steak lacked any flavor. To top it off, the restrooms had a strong urine smell, which only added to the overall poor experience. The only highlights of the evening were the company we were with and the Costco birthday cake we brought ourselves. I had read the recent reviews before coming and hoped people were exaggerating. They weren't!!! I wanted to give this place another chance because of the great memories we had at the one in Colton, but sadly, those memories are all that's left. If you're thinking about making the drive because of nostalgia like we did, I'd recommend reading the recent reviews first. I wish we had listened. We won't be returning. Thanks for a horrible birthday experience, Sundance & staff!
