Wow, really? harsh reviews. I guess we're bred to dislike all things coporate and since this is affiliated with McDonalds it gets a lot more crap. The service was really friendly and efficient. Really clean dining room too. I had the soft tacos, they were really fresh and tasty. Bf had the fajita burrito...loaded with fresh salsa, rice, beans, and chicken. I must say the quality and freshness of the food is better than a lot of burrito joints I've tried in the Bay....maybe it's just me and I've had a lot of less than stellar burritos but I thought Chipotle's is alright. That, and their guacamole was really really tasty. A tad on the expensive side though. I'd come back if I was in the area, but now I'm inclined to try the Mexican cafe across the street. read more

In a fit of hunger, I came in here for the first and last time. I really don't want to support any McDonalds affiliated company and temporarily forgot that they were owned by the evil mega-corp that gets taxpayer handouts to expand their business abroad and other subsidies. After watching "Super Size Me" and "McLibel", I have overcome any lingering childhood attachment/addiction to McCrap. On the other hand, I did get a vegan burrito for cheap. It wasn't spectacular, but it was healthier than going for a Big Mac. First off I want to say that this is the best Chipotle I have ever been to. I think that should be all that needs to be said about this place. But in spirit of giving a good review, I'll add some details. The staff here are more consumer friendly. They will listen and actually provide good service to their customers. If you want more rice or chicken or lettuce, whatever it is you desire, they will add some for you. Unlike the other Chipotles i have been to that give less first proportion and then give literally a few extra pieces of rice or the minimal amount of chicken a scoop can possibly add. I honestly think that for $6-$7 a burrito or a bowl, its ok to give a little extra rice or chicken to make your customers happy. What ever happen to customers first? Anyways, this is also the first Chipotle that I have seen ran by more than just mexicans. Not saying that this place is racist or anything (everyone is open to their own opinions). I love chipotle for the taste in their meat and rice. I tried replicating the rice at home a few times but have failed. I guess online recipes are not the greatest. I am an absolute lover of Chipotle Burritos. They are one of my favorite things to eat for lunch in between classes. I usually get a chicken burrito, with rice, black beans, fajitas onions and peppers, all the salsas except for the corn one, sour cream and cheese, guacamole, and finally some lettuce. What makes this Chipotle special is that they offer a free soda to students. This is a ridiculously awesome thing that no other restaurant around here does. Major props for them for doing this. The only reason I am not giving this particular Chipotle 5 stars is because I had a problem with one of their employees: Late at night, my best friend and I walked over to partake in an amazing evening snack. In line one of the employees, speaking in Spanish, said "those guys look super high right now. I hate people like them." No joke the guy said this. Both of us are white as hell, but have both taken 3 years of Spanish in our day. We immediately respond saying we understood exactly what he said and would like to speak to the manager. We made an official complaint and received free chips and guacamole on the side. I had my first taste of Chipotle in Seattle about two years ago. It was the night before a job interview, and I loaded up my tacos with hot sauce and jalepenos. The next day, I realized why that wasn't such a good idea. On the programming interview, I couldn't discern a heuristic from a binary search tree from polymorphism. I was much more worried about the intense pain lurking in my colon. Lucky for me I didn't get the job and took one in the SF Bay Area. Thanks Chipotle! I'm not a big fan of meat from steam trays, but I'm usually pretty satisfied from Chipotle. This specific store is pretty good. Quick, friendly, clean and delicious. Chipotle Time!!! I haven't been to a Chipotle in years. They had one in my neighborhood many blue moons ago when I lived in Stockton and before Yelp was even established. How I have missed it so! My husband and I had to work late tonight and I remember seeing this location when I drove near it on my way to a wedding last weekend. I could hardly wait to re-experience pure pleasure by indulging in The Fajita Chicken Burrito with all the good extras! Adding grilled onions and bell peppers to anything, let alone your typical classic super burrito, really make your taste buds sizzle! It is by far the best burrito in Town! To add to its amazingness are the lemon-salted chips that make you mouth water and trust me you will want more than the few it served with. The staff here is exceptionally friendly! There is plenty of parking and yes the line is long, but it goes really fast. Now that we know how convenient it is to go to on our way go home.. I believe we will become regulars! read more

I had no idea this Chipotle existed until last night. Searched for it, and it was conveniently close to my work's office in Berkeley. Went in at about 7PM on a Monday night and it was super empty inside - perfect. Regular, run of the mill Chipotle, although the inside is clean, modern, and nicer than other locations. Will probably stop by this location more often. The one on Telegraph Avenue is just a nightmare sometimes because of the long lines. I usually go for the burrito bowl with brown rice. Half steak and half chicken is a good way to go (they usually give more of each accidentally, hehe). Always go for the guacamole even if it's extra. Never really get burritos from here -- not very authentic and doesn't do it for me. But love, and always come back, for their burrito bowls! read more

My first time ever at a Chipotle. Its definitely not too snazzy, and more on the fast-food end of the spectrum, but my food was a solid 3.5-stars. But they're getting 4-stars from me due to the rare gluten-free friendliness I witnessed. In fact, that's how I ended up here in the first place - I had heard that everything on the menu except the "Burrito/Taco Soft Flour Tortillas" is gluten-free. Very cool. There's not many fast food places that have that level of gluten-freeness. I got the crispy tacos with carnitas and all the fixins. For other anti-gluten people out there, here's my list of all the gluten free items: * Soft Corn Tortilla (for the tacos) * Crispy Corn Tortilla (for the tacos) * Cilantro-Lime Rice (they have it in both white & brown) * Beans (black & pinto) * Fajita Vegetables * Barbacoa * Chicken * Carnitas * Steak * Salsas (All) * Cheese * Sour Cream * Guacamole * Romaine Lettuce * Chips * Vinaigrette And I found in the small print on a take-out flyer: "We use no peanuts, tree nuts or any other kind of nuts in our food. Only our cheese and sour cream contain any dairy." Surprisingly liberal thinking for a fast food place. And on the back I found: "Most people wanting to avoid gluten can eat anything we serve except for our large and small flour tortillas.Everything else is fine to eat for most people wanting to avoid gluten, including our crispy corn tacos and our corn chips." If you are vegan, you should avoid the pinto beans (apparently they are cooked with a small amount of bacon), meats (obviously), cheese, sour cream, and the chipotle-honey vinaigrette. And if you're just vegetarian you should avoid just the pinto beans (due to the bacon deal). read more

I love coming to this Chipotle when I'm in the area. I especially like coming here when I'm going down the street for a show at Ashkenaz or Gilman, grabbing a burrito and a beer and on my way super fast. Great food, great service, great location. Is there really anything to say about Chipotle? They make solid burritos (although questionably not-really-authentic). They are huge, filling, and satisfying. The rice is great and I love their corn salsa. Their guac is also pretty freaking good, but costs extra so the cheapo scrooge part of me never wants to get it. The location is also right off campus, so you can get massive food coma either on your way to class or back from it. They make you full and you STAY that way for a while. Its awesome. They are PACKED with a bazillion delicious calories that WILL make you get a heart attack that much sooner. BUT AT LEAST YOU'LL DIE SMILING. This review is not only to praise the ever-diminishing existence of stability in a crazy world, but also to praise the fact that there is a chain out there that doesn't serve things that will inevitably turn you obese. First off, I went here today with a friend. Although I had eaten Chipotle in countless locations and times; somehow this time was somehow different. It struck a chord. I realized how the menu had barely changed changed since the chain's birth, and how much I appreciated that very fact! Once you have something good, you want it again. I trust this place. A note about this particular chipotle: The woman who runs the cash register is so nice and is always genuinely kind. It sets this place apart from the Chipotle by the UC Berkeley Campus. The Chipotle Chain: Chipotle is perhaps my favorite fast food restaurant. As a lacto-vegetarian, I am usually faced with limited options at fast food restaurants, which is the case at Chipotle. The only item I have ever tried here is their Vegetarian Burrito, but I have no complaints about this. This is the best burrito I've ever had at a restaurant. The way they prepare their rice and guacamole makes their burritos as good as they are. Their cheese and the consistency of their sour cream also set them apart from other similar establishments. As a vegetarian, I was happy to see how clearly they describe their ingredients on their website (http://www.chipotle.com/en-US/menu/special_diet_information/special_diet_information.aspx), even going so far as to mention that their cheese is made from vegetable-based rennet. One thing I would advise to vegetarians out there is to notify the people preparing your burrito that you are vegetarian and that you would like to make sure your burrito does not touch any meat as they are preparing it. It can be a bit awkward to say, but they make the burritos and slide them across the counter so fast that there is a good chance it will slide right into the meat that is on the burrito next to it. Some people prefer the burrito bowls they have, but that just doesn't do it for me. There's something about all the ingredients being wrappedd tightly together in a soft tortilla that makes the difference between an average meal and a delicious one. Be aware that the lines can be very long at almost any chipotle, but they usually move pretty fast. Even with a long line, it's worth the wait! read more

I have been intrigued by Chipotle's slick marketing for some time, and when they teamed up with Hodo to make sofritas, I knew I had to try it. Cute interior is a plus. Graphic design on cups and napkins, very well done. The menu was sort of easy to get my head around: choose from fillings to go in burrito, bowl, salad or tacos. But from there I had no idea what my choices were. My daughters and I all ordered sofritas: taco kit (for my little girl); taco for my big girl and salad for me. The staff is clearly trained to move the line quickly and we felt very rushed as we tried to understand our options. They could be trained in friendlier customer service which focuses on the guest right in front of you no matter how long the line behind them gets. It was stressful. I mean really, I had to take a deep breath once I finished the transaction. The lack of care with which our food was put together got the attention of my 13 year old who looked at me with shock on her face. Her filling was poured everywhere but inside the actual crispy taco shells. Rush, rush, rush. The person making my salad asked if I wanted it hot or mild, and then proceeded to pour so much salsa on my salad that I couldn't taste the flavor of the sofritas I had come to try. The salad was skimpy, especially compared to what I call the "Big Chew" the local Mexican place serves down the street. The black beans (only veg choice) were okay. The taco shells seemed industrialized (not made in-house) and the chips were weak. How they get away with charging 1.25 for chips from a bag is beyond me. I wish I could like Chipotle as they would be a great go-to fast food when traveling, but the real test of a place comes down to how my body feels afterward: in this case bloated and blah. I am not buying into the marketing of "quality" ingredients and certainly the food there is not made with love. Slow down, Chipotle. All that rushing isn't good for digestion. read more

Neh not so much, this will be the first and last time I eat here. Ok so its a chain but Taco Bell has been around a really long time and while its stuff is not truely recognizable as mexican food its consistent. I got the 4 crispy tacos with the carnitas. I have yet to have a more salty meat. The salsa was ladled on to the tacos resulting in mushy tacos shells. A friend had a burrito with chicken and reported in sick today with food poisoning. With all the other mexican food options close by I can not see how this place survives with such bad quality. Just goes to show that its not that easy to make good mexican food. I really like the location of this Chipotle. It is right next door to REI, so once I am done shopping there I can eat here. That's also the drawback. If you come on the weekend, it can be difficult to find a place to park in the lot they share. There is also a small area for outdoor seating that borders on the edge of the parking lot. I ordered several burritos at once and asked for some extra rice on all of them. The first two got an extra spoonfull of rice or two, the third, not so much. I didn't have to wait long to get to the front of the line, and they made my burritos very quickly. It tasted just fine, but just like any other Chipotle I have visited. It's rare that I would consider writing a review for a chain restaurant but this place has earned it! I would totally prefer Chipotle to many other "authentic" Mexican taquerias out there. First of all it's a clean atmosphere so I don't feel grossed out the second I walk through the door. Also I read that they use many organic or free range meats and veggies. The flavor of their chicken is to die for. I've also had their beef and pork and they were both really flavorful as well. You can tell them how much you want or don't want on your burrito. I stopped by REI right next door to Chipotle, and I couldn't resist the smell coming from there. I decided to order the burrito bol which is pretty much all the stuff inside the burrito into a bowl without the tortilla wrapping. I tried the barbacoa (shredded beef), and it was a little bit too spicy for my taste. But it made me full, so I was happy with it. The line moved very fast, and everything seemed fresh and the store was very clean and thats a plus. Oh yeah, and I have to commend the guy at the cash register for being patient with me as I thought I had the right amount of money in my hands, but I fell about 30 cents short, and I was literally shoving through all the stuff in my bag for about a minute or two for coins and he didn't say anything :) Update: I ate here again, and this time I got a free drink.
