When restaurants are starting to close down, I knew I could count of my to-go place is open. I love the new Queso Blanko sauce - savory and tangy. It was basically empty and everyone kept a 1-2 feet distance, while I requested extra rice and veggies, as I figured someone's gotta eat it. Customer service was friendly and I saw workers constantly cleaning and happily working. It's tragic food and service sectors has been heavily hit, but as a youngster, I'm not too concerned on contracting anything. I eat Chipotle way too much and when I visit different cities around the country, I like to grab some Chipotle while I'm in a new town - and was lucky to have Chipotle twice while in Portland. This location had a couple positives and a couple negatives. First the positives. The young lady who put my bowl together was super fast and super generous with portioning! I wish all my burritos bowls were that Jan packed with food. The negatives. The guac was a little off and had the worst texture of any I've gotten from Chipotle. There were whole avocado slices that were left in tact when they should have been mashed up. Specifics to note about this location: It's in a business area so the lines get long on weekdays at noon. You need to buy something to get the code (on your recipes) to use the restroom, which isn't optimal if you need to use the restroom but have to first wait in a long line. I understand the challenge that exists in downtown, so I'm not sure what the right answer is. I wish they used GoBox for takeout so that less waste would end up in the trash. read more

This particular location is always packed full of people most hours and the people working here are extremely fast and efficient. Well you are eating here, because 1) its that good 2) you know they actually care, because no other businesses do this!! So with that said, irs a chipotle!! Size of scoop o meat varies from person to person day to day, like a sweet flower in spring. You will never know its scoop size until the flower blooms :) I will say the location is good, and has great outdoor seating when the weather permits. Bathrooms are cleaner than most downtown, and staff is on the brighterside of the spectrum for downtown... anyone whos worked any form of food or retail downtown knows it can be daunting. So its a spectrum, not a pass fail :) Pro Tip : Burrito bowl to go is king!! Two large tortillas on the side, extra rice, both beans, veggies, extra of your favorite salsas (mines the pico and the corn) with 2 scoops of each of those, you can make 2 full size burritos if you 'roll your own' read more

I get my Chipotle fix here many times. It's just okay. The food doesn't seem as fresh as a few other locations I've tried.

That's right, I did it, and I won't apologize either. I'm not going to cower behind the label of "guilty pleasure" like Harry Potter/Twilight/The OC fans do either. I legitimately think the food here is tasty. Chipotle is a cult that I'm proudly a member of, I CRAVE the food here which means one of two things: 1)the food is good 2)Soluble-meth-food-infusion I'll let you decide which has a greater probability. The food here is always FRESH, the burritos are always filling, and the hot salsa is actually HOT (this is more than I can say for 99% of "Mexican" places, actually...I've always wondered why Mexican food even has a reputation for being "hot"...but that's for another time). The MEATS are incredibly tasty, I almost never get chicken anything when there are tortillas involved but the chicken here is so delightfully crisp around the edges and perfectly seasoned. (chicken at most Mexicanish places tastes like it was cooked in sea water) OK sheeple, can you honestly look at yourself in the mirror and tell me that you'd be dinging the shit out of Chipotle if it were a mom and pop burrito cart in the SE area? What about if a friend of yours invited you over for burritos and they tasted like this? Come. Let's debunk some of the anti-Chipotle rhetoric that seems to be all the rage right now: -Chipotle is owned by McDonald's: this is not true, at all. At one time Mickey D's (which I hate, btw) INVESTED capital into Chipotle, much in the same way that your 401k at work probably has you invested in all sorts of companies you may or may not like. Chipotle used this money to expand and grow to the point it is at today, McD's has since divested 100%. This was not the creation of the McDonald's corporation, it started as the baby of a chef who wanted to sell San Francisco-style burritos in Denver. It began with one single store opened with a $85,000 loan.. So when did McDonald's divestment occur? October 2006, which means everyone making a McBurrito-connection post this date (there is only one review from before this date) is INCORRECT. -"Authentic", "fake Mexican", "white rice", etc: these are MISSION STYLE BURRITOS people, GOOGLE it. If everyone had your attitude we would've never discovered the miracle of the cheeseburger (WHAT?! A slice of CHEESE on a hamburger??!! WHY?!) or all the Americanized mayonnaise/cream cheese-infused sushi rolls some people seem to go crazy over (NOT me on this one). Chipotle isn't trying to be "authentic" (whatever THAT means). -Chipotle has infinity calories: well, so do most of the places you eat, they just don't publish their numbers or they aren't as widely targeted/available. You eat two Big Mac's a day and I'll eat one Chipotle burrito, let's see who lives longer. This also isn't like eating X,XXX calories of trans fats and high fructose corn syrup either, there are also a lot of NUTRIENTS in these burritos as well. Chipotle doesn't claim to be "healthy" only "responsible" in that the cows and piggies aren't beaten as rigorously as they are at most other places...or something like that. -NO CHIPS: cry me a fucking river people. So a 2lb burrito baby isn't enough, you HAVE to have chips n' salsa too? I go out to eat to...EAT, not to munch on chips. Are you the same people that are physically incapable of watching a movie without chomping on popcorn? I'll trade up more ACTUAL food for chips anyday. Which brings me to... -COST: seriously it's around 6 bucks for two meals, that's $3/meal that's cheaper than most shit you could whip up at your house. If you want chips so bad take one home and use your own chips and favorite salsa. -GUAC being extra: I'm not a huge avocado fan (I'm avocagnostic), so I don't feel any empathy for you here. But if you were one of the people above that moaned of health issues, maybe you should hold off on the guac or get it instead of meat. [insert passive-aggressive smiley here] I'm done. Whether it's Mexican fast food or a $$$$ restaurant, we don't seem to like either one. I guess there are many reasons for that including, well, just being fast food or being so over priced it just ruins the experience. Several weeks ago we watched the pseudo-documentary on Netflix about the founder, the philosophy, the transformation, the purpose and well, you get the picture. After watching the movie I was so impressed with the place but up to that point, had never eaten there. I tend to avoid all fast food like the plague and Chipotle was no exception. There's just something about it. Anyway, I sent them an email to tell them how impressed we were with the film and the person responding to the email was just all over that. "Give me your address so I can send you a gift card and your first experience at Chipotle will be on us." What the heck. A really cool website where you can put together your dish and get a complete calorie and nutrient evaluation. That way you know exactly what you're getting. I decided after looking at that it was going to be the one and only time I'll be eating there. The doors were blown off the whole thing by the sodium content alone. Again, if you're going to eat this stuff you had better have a diuretic on hand for the next day because you're going to need it. You will blow your entire daily salt wad right here. I decided to make mine into a burrito bowl and it was OK, just not anything to write home about. A bed of lettuce topped with stuff that looked like it had been prechewed just for me. The preparation was simply throw in a spoon full of this and a spoonful of that. Where was the love I so desperately need in my food? Apparently there wasn't any. Oh well. It is what is it is. Just more fast food but in this case it's with humanely raised animals and local organic ingredients when possible. Draw your own conclusions. Just a note about the founder, Steve Ells. He's actually a CIA graduate who had aspirations of opening his own white linen 4 star restaurant. He doesn't need to care about that anymore because he has a bazillion dollars. :) read more

The Tax Deduction and I were out on an adventure. Today we were taking Max from near the Airport to Downtown to go see The World ship, which was docked along the Waterfront Park. After seeing this monolith the Tax Deduction was nonplussed by it all until he saw the Salmon Street Spring, right there I knew I had lost him to cascading water. After he was done running laps around the fountain he had burned off enough energy that it was time to recharge. Up into downtown we walked passing place after inappropriate place to take a nearly four year old. Then, off in the distance it shined like a beacon... Subway! I was jazzed we had found it, but as we got closer the "too smart for his own good" Tax Deduction saw a Chipotle and informed me that only a quesadilla would recharge his batteries. I have learned the hard way to pick my battles and submitted to McPotle. The small quesadilla was too small, so I had to run back up and buy another one for the famished Tax Deduction who stayed at the table to nurse his chips and lemonade. As I was talking to the nice guy behind the counter my kid stands up on the bench and yells across the restaurant, "Tell him to hurry!" On the plus side my carnitas was really flavorful and the chips had a nice lime-salt flavor. On the down side they have an uninsppired selection of soft drinks (something I am on a crusade to change with all places that only offer one or two diet selections) and they really don't offer a real kids menu. However the employees were all really very nice, even when being berated by my child. read more

I can honestly say that I have been to many Chipotles than I care to count and this one is a bit of a let down. The layout is just all wrong, especially if it is crowded. The place just gets crowded and dinners and people waiting for food collide. The service was fast and friendly. The food is like any other Chipotle, but like others have said, they do skimp on the amount when compared to others I've been to. This is one of the better QSRs out there. With it being right next door to work, it's hard not to dine here. I noticed that since my college days, Chipotle has been less generous with the rice. It's honestly my favorite thing they have to offer and I don't want less of it! It's awesome to see the progression of this company though. They now offer brown rice and something called Sofritas. It's a tofu option and perfect for Portlanders. I've tried it and it's actually pretty decent--especially since I'm not the biggest tofu fan. Don't be fooled, but they offer other things besides burritos and bowls (burritos without the tortilla and in a bowl, obviously). I ordered a chicken quesadilla because I had seen someone order it before. It's literally nothing more than shredded cheese and chicken. It was $5.70 for that. I'm gonna continue my quesadilla purchases at Taco Bell since quesadillas here cost as much as a burrito (starts at $6.70). Guacamole is an additional $1.95. You be the judge of whether or not that price is worth a dollop of nature's butter. read more

So I have only very recently started going to Chipotle in the past few months and this is the only one I've ever eaten from, so been here maybe ten or twelve times now. Never had a problem and always get a huge burrito for less than $8, so a good deal. It seems very clean and the staff are very nice. They even remade my burrito one time when I said it looked a little small compared to the others. No questions asked, they just remade it and were very nice and fast about it. I read here that a lot of folks are complaining about the stale chips. I only ever get a burrito with no sides so not sure how the chips are, but the burritos are delicious! read more

The best thing about my burrito was that it kept my hands warm on the way back to school. Kind of like homesteaders heating up old potatoes to throw in the bottom of the wagon to keep their feet toasty out on the plains. Except y'know, with tortillas, rice, chicken and a MAX ride. But it's definitely better than a lot of fast food options in the area and the "bowls" are a pretty good pick if McMexican food isn't your thing.
