    Quesadilla A La Carte
    Nicole G.

First and foremost, the service was STELLAR! We wanted to stop in and pick up lunch on the way to my in laws house, they were closing at 2pm and we didn't know this as it was our first experience at Chispa's. We called our order in and before we even placed the order, we asked if it was okay since it was so close to closing time. They were so accommodating and they were to happy to take our order for pick up. When we got to the restaurant, they had our order ready! They were all so kind and welcoming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was small but perfect to match the vibe and also had a cute outdoor seating area for guests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Conveniently, this spot offers a drive thru as well which is always great for on-the-go![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food. My fiancé and I rated our experience 7.5/10. Here is the rundown... My fiancé ordered the two carne asada taco plate, I ordered the carne asada burrito, and our son ordered the cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla was THE BEST, SO DELICIOUS! Although, I feel a different container would have been better for transporting to retain its shape, heat, and sticking together since they're stacked. The carne asada burrito. It comes with beans and rice and your selection of meat plus up to 3 additional toppings (a few for example are onions and cilantro, grilled onions, pickles onions, avocado, chipotle crema, jalapeños, and more). I chose avocado, pickled onions, and 2 sides of chipotle crema. Highly recommend the sauces on the side so you can control the quantity and ensure the sauce is in each bite throughout. It was delicious. The one flaw....The beans. I was not a fan of the beans. Which is unfortunate because the beans come in the burrito and on all the plates etc. I just found the beans with an off flavor, almost too salty. The color was not pleasant looking either. If these beans were changed, our 7.5 ranking would easily move to an 8.5/9. My fiance ordered the tacos. He really enjoyed the tacos, he opted for onions and cilantro for his toppings with sides of hot salsa. They were really good and it was a perfect portion for lunch. Yet again, the beans on the plate lunch option were not the best. Would we back again? Yes, absolutely. However I would order either the beans on the side or just opt out of them completely. Great lunch spot! Can't wait to try other items at Chispas! I encourage you to give them a try! Fairly inexpensive too! For the three of us, it was $40! Not bad at all! Fresh ingredients, great service!

Solid place with lots of great options. Was able to walk next door and get drinks to bring over which is a fun little twist. I had the taco plate with carne asada. Great portion size and flavors.

This place is a gem. I can't believe it took me this long to try it. everything I've had so far is amazing. The rice and beans are delicious. The beef tacos delicious and I really like the egg and potato burrito. I don't think you can go wrong.

Ordered a bacon breakfast burrito and it was huge! I got the "hot" salsa to go with it and it was delicious. No wait either on a Wednesday morning

Breakfast bowl... I've been sleeping on the menu with the same same nearly every time. Not this time.

They got me. Sometimes they forget the avo salsa OTS but I still go back, often. Honorable mentions: Chorizo & Egg burrito is a hit for the Kid with cilantro & onion added and avocado salsa on the side... I dig the burrito with veggies, I switch up between refried beans and pinto, add pickled onion, carrots and jalapens and the avocado salsa on it. Civeche Stuffed Papa Breakfast bowl hit a pocket I didn't know existed Carne fries are delicious, I'd stuff 2 orders in if I were physically capable Horchata yum Oj yum yum Quesadilla is massive Birria tacos on Wednesday & Thursday [[HIGHLIGHT]]I thoroughly enjoy this place and it is one of maybe 2 other "drive thru" establishments I am willing to drive through.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Yes, I do recommend and yes, I will return

I went for a quick lunch and had some pretty good tacos! Staff was super friendly and they made some pretty quality tacos. Queso and chips were good as well!

I ate a bite and then remembered to take a photo. This is the bacon burrito. So good!

We were in town visiting family for Thanksgiving and decided we were tired of the leftovers in the fridge so I yelped breakfast burritos and we chose this place based on the reviews. It certainly did not disappoint!!! I was planning to only eat half of my burrito and save the rest for the next morning but it was too yummy to stop eating! We ordered 1 bacon, 1 steak, and 2 chorizos and everyone was happy with their choice. We ordered at the drive thru window and we did not have to wait long. They came out hot and freshly made. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The stickers on the wrappers were a cute touch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I definitely recommend their breakfast burritos and supporting a small business!

Wow I should have been here sooner! The roasted green chiles are delicious and I love them in my bowl of fish/rice/refried beans. Salsa here is hot and spicy. Horchata is tasty and thicker than other place. Outdoor seating is nice and also dog-friendly. They also have drive thru that is wrapped around their building.

Needs more toppings. Too many fries and not enough of the other stuff.

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.

We sat outside in the evening shade for a nice gathering. We shared the Cuban Caesar salad with romaine, manchego cheese, sliced pears, toasted pepitas, masa croutons, avocado, fried plantain chips and Aji amarillo Caesar. The salad was crisp, well dressed and delicious with the fried / curled plantain chips. The shrimp cerviche with fried plantains, blue corn tortilla chips, lime, cilantro and cucumber pico de gallo was ok but not remarkable. Our final selection was the Gaucho spiced skirt steak with chimichurri, and masa potato cakes. The steak was overcooked, not medium rare, bland taste and tough. The potato cake was tasteless. Overall, the ambience and service was good, however, the food lacks any hint of Cuban flare except for the fried plantains. When I think of Cuban food, I salivate for the unique taste profiles with a hint of sweetness from the fruits. At The canal Club, I found it non-existing. The name, setting, and environment is good but the kitchen needs to let in on the theme being Cuban.

I ordered the Honey Jalapeño Chicken Sandwich with fries, and so did my friend. We both agreed it was delicious especially after adding a little ranch. Since we had a larger group, we ordered a martini tower, which was fun to share and definitely had enough alcohol to catch a nice vibe. One of my friends ordered the Huevos Rancheros and really enjoyed them, while another got the chicken sliders and liked them so much she took the leftovers home and happily finished them later. The highlight of the experience was the live one-man band, who created a great atmosphere, and our server, "Flexy Lexi." She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Great food, fun drinks, live entertainment, and excellent service. We'll definitely be back!

The six of us were seated across from the bar, and it was HOT . I started sweating and needed to use the menus as a fan and drink water to try and cool off. The restaurant had already been open for almost 2 hours, so I am not sure why it was so hot inside (others in our party were hot too, so I wasn't just me). Positives are the restaurant's beach decor and the hamburgers. Several people in our party ordered burgers, and they were cooked to perfection and the fries were really good! Negatives are very few seafood menu options and the fish tacos were terrible. They were drowning in a mayonnaise based slaw. The corn tortillas were really fresh and tasty, but when I bit into my taco I could mostly only taste mayonnaise and the pickled onions. Our friends even made an unsolicited comment that my tacos did not look good. Luckily, I selected fries as my side, because they were the best thing on my plate. With a name like Montauk, and the beach decor, I expected more fresh seafood options on the menu. More than half the menu was not seafood (Mediterranean platter, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, brussels sprouts, salads, etc.). Unfortunately, Montauk does not live up to the hype.

We kicked things off with a complimentary prickly pear vodka cocktail (delicious) paired with a comp app -- looks like they rotate these, and I got hummus with crudite and crackers. During the meal, there were 2 standout dishes that made this memorable. - Hamachi Crudo: THE BEST crudo I have ever had. They switch up the dressing regularly, but whatever they put on mine was unforgettable - 10 oz Wagyu Strip: solid steak, but nothing "Wagyu" tasting. It didn't have that melt-in-your-mouth fatty richness I was hoping for from wagyu and was slightly chewy. - Scallops: tender! - Asparagus: came with a creamy sauce which was a great touch - Chocolate Espresso Mousse Cake: MAGICAL. Layered, with crunchy pralines and vanilla ice cream. If you've had the chocolate hazelnut cake at Carbone, this gave me major similar vibes... that good! Will absolutely be back to try a different cut of steak and also the loaded baked potato. The ambience alone is worth the trip, but the crudo and that cake are what's going to stick with me.

Some of the standout items for us were the mocktails and the pasta. The Pillows of Love pasta absolutely lived up to the hype and was one of the highlights of the meal. We also enjoyed the mac and cheese, mushrooms, steak, and seafood. Everything was beautifully prepared, high quality, and worthy of the restaurant's reputation. If I had one minor critique, it would be the king crab legs. They are char-grilled, which gives them a smoky flavor that wasn't quite our personal preference. That said, the quality of the crab itself was excellent, and it's more a matter of taste than a criticism of the preparation. The atmosphere made for a perfect birthday dinner--upscale, energetic, and memorable without feeling stuffy.
