My department at work decided to take our team lunch here, and it was absolutely phenomenal! Despite the sudden large group, the staff quickly took all our orders and we received our food and desserts in no time at all. The food itself was incredible, with each of us having nothing but positive things to say about our various sandwiches and breakfasts. Not only that, we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of times different staff members came over to check on us, and offer water refills or whatever else we may have needed. For a café like this was in no way required but the team went above and beyond to make our experience even better. The Chocolate Cafe is a really cute spot for date night, coffee, friends night, lunch, etc. They have coffee, hot and cold chocolate beverages, ice cream, desserts, etc, with a heavy focus on.... Chocolate! The hot chocolate drinks are made with either dark or milk chocolate, your choice of milk, and can be spiked if you like. The staff are really friendly. Drinks are brought out in proper cups/mugs unless you request ToGo. I enjoy the Mexican spiced hot chocolate (milk, please) and their chocolate/yogurt pretzels or lemon berry cake. Note that parking here can be difficult. They are bordered by a couple of other small businesses with small lots and lots of towing signs. I've been to this place several times over the years and was always satisfied, until yesterday. My wife and I came in for lunch, she had the turkey Reuben and I had the turkey, bacon and Swiss. Her sandwich was nice looking, full of turkey and satisfying. Mine was a single piece of turkey, some bacon, a piece of Swiss and a mound of salad, not satisfying or filling. I'm sorry but while I have no problem paying for good, substantial food, I cannot justify paying $30 for two sandwiches, a soda and a water and then having to get something to eat on the way home. When we went the place was pretty busy, but our food came out relatively quick. We ordered Spinach and Parmesan Chicken Salad sandwich, Chicken wrap, Chocolate Chai Tea, lemon bar and the chocolate cake and Lemon Raspberry cake. Everything tasted great. I loved my chocolate chai tea. It was just the right level of sweetness. The chocolate cake was really moist and so was the lemon raspberry cake. I usually don't care of lemon bar but order it anyway, just because it looked good. And I am so glad that I ordered it. It was really good. Just the perfect balance of sweet and tartness. This is a cute cafe, bakery, and chocolate shop all-in-one. I thought the interior is nicely decorated with all the hanging lights. I ordered online for pickup after they opened at 9am. It was a seamless process. I ordered the cajun chicken panini, 2 brownie blondies, 2 butter toffees, and a slice of the lemon berry mascarpone cake. I received a call a few minutes later because they did not have any brownie blondies. The woman offered to replace those with 2 double chocolate brownies, but I do not like too much chocolate, so she offered the gooey butter bars. She even threw an extra, which was very kind. The cajun panini was big! Definitely shareable and comes with a bag of chips. I would have preferred the brownie blondie, because although nice, I found the gooey butter bars to be a bit too sweet for my liking. The lemon berry mascarpone cake was great. It was a perfect balance of decant yet light. The mascarpone almost had a smooth light cheesecake taste to it. I have a weakness for butter toffee, but expected them to be a bit bigger at $1 a piece. I recently ordered some chocolate cafe goodies on doordash for breakfast! I went with the avocado bacon wrap and a bacon/egg bagel sammy as well as an iced coffee. Sometimes when you order things for delivery they aren't the best. This time I was pretty pleased with the quality of my order. Everything arrived as though I had picked it up myself, even though it was a delivery order. I appreciated the sealed stickers that came on everything to ensure that it was safe and untouched. The wrap was awesome-- it came with cream cheese, was of ample size, and I loved the creamy avocado component. It also included a side of fresh fruit that I didn't expect. Yum! The bagel sammy was decent, but honestly a little dry. I appreciated the price for the portion, though. Actually the prices of all items were pretty reasonable. The iced coffee was delicious, albeit very strong. I know that's what a lot of folks are looking for in a cold brew, and if that's the case for you, you won't be disappointed. I drank up every sip! Last night my friend and I went to the Chocolate Cafe. Keep in mind that we only had dessert so I don't have anything to say on main food. We arrived around 7pm and there were not very many people there but around 8 more arrived. The place is a cafe which I knew but didn't expect it to be where you stand up and order. It's a cool concept though so their dessert menu has so much chocolate which is my favorite. We got a piece of cake which I didn't not try but the fondue, OH MY! You must try. We got the wine and fondue combination which included a bottle of wine that we got to take home since we didn't finish and a plate of dippers. At first, the chocolate wasn't very hot but the candle under really did its job, highly recommend. I love the Chocolate Cafe! Even when it's more crowded, it's a place where you can always enjoy your personal space and the calm atmosphere. In addition to a wide variety of desserts and candies, there are many food and drink (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) options. These are all listed on a very large chalkboard along the back wall. My only complaint on this is that prices are not posted. Their entree options are always delicious, fresh, and well-presented. This tuna melt I ordered last time was particularly delicious. Any sandwich with the bistro sauce is good, but bewarned it is veryyy strong, if that's something you avoid. Their default side is kettle cooked potato chips, but I'd be curious to see what else they offer. The only drinks I've tried are the chocolate chai and chocolate martini, both of which are delicious. The chocolate rim on the martini is always fun and delicious. Their desserts are on the pricier side, but delicious and of course their specialty. I wouldn't recommend getting a bulk order; because of their price and richness, one or even a shared dessert is always enough for us. My reasons for removing a star are the non-transparency of prices and the smoke. Also, one time an employee flirted with my partner when he went up to order even though we had entered and originally ordered together... super awkward and uncomfortable, but I'm not going to blame that on the establishment. During one visit a few months ago, my eyes stung so bad I had to keep them closed while my family finished their food. It was so bad I literally thought there was a gas leak. I have especially sensitive eyes, but the rest of my family felt it after a while. Then we smelled the smoke, from whatever they were cooking and assumedly burning. It was extremely unpleasant, but I assumed this was a one-time occurrence. However, it has happened 2 more times, once in the past week. It was so bad, we had to leave early even though we were sitting far away at the window. I don't know what they're cooking with to create such a strong effect, but they definitely need to invest in a fan or fume hood. read more

So I came here once for their dessert and wine flight. Yes, a dessert and wine flight, its as amazing as it sounds. I'm fairly certain the wines and desserts rotate but I'll be first to admit I'm not the pickiest about wine or dessert. The location was actually not the easiest to find driving around at night. Its sort of in a neighborhood and almost blends in. However, there is a parking lot out front and a sign so I may just have very little perceptual awareness. I came here towards closing and it was fairly empty. The staff was super nice and explained what types of wine and desserts were included in their flight at the time. The desserts are not full-sized desserts but I think they're the perfect size to accompany a flight. The wine pours were pretty generous but that may also have to do with me coming close to closing and perhaps they were just finishing up the bottles for the night. Yes, flights are one of my favorite ways to enjoy any cuisine. It gives you the opportunity to try various things offered and find favorites you may want more of. Variety is the spice of life, so why not try as much as you can and not break the bank? This spot is a chocolate lover's dream, perfect for a girls night, date night or even a quick lunch or study place! There's plenty of seating inside and there's several tables out front too. I mentioned to a friend that I like lobster bisque and she recommended that I try this place and have one with the grilled cheese and I'm so glad that I did. It's a delightful little shop in Grandview. Today it was full of festive valentines decor heart's galore. The cappuccino was also burnt in flavor. I was really excited to see all the pastries, pretzels and candy, so I asked about them. None are made from the bakery, they are brought in from distributors or a baker. So rather than trying 1 of 100 truffles and flavored pretzels, we opted to try a chocolate chip cookie and peanut butter pretzel brownie. Both were hard/stale and burnt in flavor. Chocolate Café is a cute and spacious cafeteria in the Grandview area, although the parking lot is small. The café is counter service with a laid-back atmosphere. As we entered, it took us a minute to acclimatize ourselves with the layout, where to order, and seating options. Based on its name, we went to Chocolate Café expecting all (or most) menu items to be chocolate based, but we were wrong, and in a good way. The café has a variety of food ranging from soups, sandwiches, and wraps to different bakery items. There is also a decent sized drinks menu. We ended up ordering several items from the menu - Spinach and Parmesan Chicken Salad sandwich, Chicken wrap (from the kids' menu), Chocolate Chai Tea, and a few pastry items from the bakery area. Even though the place was pretty busy, our food arrived at our table pretty quickly. The non-bakery items were tasty, although the chicken wrap was a bit on the dry side. Unsurprisingly, the bakery items were excellent - the Lemon bar and the Chocolate "fudgy wudgy" cakes were both moist, the chocolate cookie was huge and delicious, and the Lemon Raspberry cake was so good that we inhaled it before I could take a picture of it. However, I was really impressed with the latte - it was just the right level of sweetness and flavor, and perfect for a cold winter day. Their food is so unbelievably fresh and they have a wonderful selection. Their breakfast burritos are phenomenal and I love that they come with a side of fresh fruit.
