I stayed and tasted at least 80% of all the Gelatos and still had a hard time picking just one. I ended up picking two. Those were the cheesecake and the oreo cream. That combination was an awesome, refreshing, exquisite, mouth-watering, out-of-this-world tasting dessert. In the heart of the gaslamp district, this place was great. We visited this place while staying in San Diego for the weekend. It's located within the Gaslamp Quarter where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. We thought it was perfectly located because right after dinner we were craving something sweet to eat. They were pretty busy, but there was plenty of seating areas. We tried the Nutella cheesecake and Nutella crepe with bananas along with teas. Both desserts tasted great and we would definitely be back if we lived in SD. The only things that do need improvement are the walls and furniture. The walls were pretty dirty and some of the furniture looked like they needed to be replaced. They offered my boys gelato samples and they were super friendly and flexible with all the questions my boys had. Me and my wife ordered two unsweetened Cappuccinos and it was beautifully balanced. My wife added a bit of sugar and i left mine with no sweetener. Lots of options available from gelato, crepes, breakfast, tea, coffee grilled paninis and a few cold plates. You can order a nice meal or get some gelato. I decided to get some gelato because I knew that I wanted something sweet. When you walk in, you see a bunch of their different flavors of gelato. The best part is, you can sample which ever one you want which is pretty amazing! They come in small, medium, and large. For the size small you get one flavor, for the medium size you get two flavors, and for the large size you get 3 flavors. I decided to get two flavors because I fell in love with two of their flavors. The two flavors that I picked were pomegranate and kinder( hazelnut chocolate flavor). The two paired nicely together, but the portion size was huge! I was not expecting it to be so big, but it was so delicious that I ate the whole thing (with a little help from my boyfriend). However, they gave me a heaping scoop of gelato on my small sugar cone. There was so much gelato it was literally dangling on every side. I decided to ask for a cup to hold the gelato in case in starts melting in all directions. The espresso gelato itself was very flavorful and creamy. One of the more memorable tastes of gelato I've had. I also had a taste of their pistachio flavor, which was very good as well. It did not taste artificial at all, and had a nutty aroma and a delicate sweet flavor. I think I'm going to get the pistachio flavor next time! I've had better, but this will probably be my favorite in Gas Lamp District. The crepe itself is nicely cooked, just the right amount of grilling, very delicious. I would like a better selection of toppings, which maybe they had, but it wasn't clear from their menu. I'm also happy they serve The Republic of Tea brand, which is my favorite - pricey but worth it. Cozy atmosphere, cute set-up, nice service. After a decent dinner at the Blarney Stone across the street, the wife and I decided to indulge in a little bit of dessert. Seeing this place, we figured our desires would be satisfied. And on a certain level they were - certainly there were more than enough ice cream and gelato choices to please even the most discriminating tongue. Price wasn't ridiculous either. Don't get me wrong - the detractions for this place don't completely disqualify it. But I really wish they weren't so chintzy on the quality of napkins - really they are about as effective as one ply toilet paper. With the ice cream/gelato being very tasty but messy, the need for some quality cleanup materials becomes paramount. So, bring your own napkins, that's what I'm trying to say. Also, clean up a little bit! You can't blame this all on the customers - overflowing garbage cans are quite the distraction. After reviewing the menu, I went to the register to place my order and noticed as the employee rang me up that one of the beverages cost a dollar more than advertised on the board above her head. Not willing to pay $5.95 for a chai latte, I asked her to take it off my order and I'll just have a glass of water instead. She ignored my request for water (I think the only options are bottled sparkling and still water), then informed me that if I want to pay for my $30 order with my card, it's an additional fifty cents. It's lunchtime Friday during Comic Con, and if every other restaurant in a three block radius didn't have lines out the door, I'd have walked out at that point. Instead I sat here, not enjoying my otherwise decent panini, so with no water to wash it down I decided to write this review instead. This appears to be a family run business. I get it. Costs are high. But don't treat your customers like they're dumb, and ffs give them a glass of water if they ask for it.
