I ordered the veggie (add that green sauce to it mmmm), chicken mole (LOVED IT) they added sesame seeds, a lil guac and radish to it, and then we also ordered the birra meat and cheese taco. This was my first time having one of these. Dip dip the taco goes into that sauce. All and all the service and quality was second to none. Amazing! So happy this taco place opened up so close to home! The birria tacos are so well seasoned, the meat is soft, the taco is also generously filled. The consome is delicious! So good even by itself. This is an amazing meal at any time. If you're looking for a hangover cure this is it too!! You can add cheese to the taco but honestly it doesn't even need it. This is an absolute gem and Union City is fortunate to have a restaurant like this. My brother-in-law put me on to this place. The food is absolutely amazing. Their tortillas are a little on the thick side but they are delicious. I've had their chicken platter and carne platter. It comes with various sauces, cilantro and onions. Their guac and chips are crazy good too. This is the only taco place that makes my family happy...kids and adults. The place itself is tiny. But they make the best of it. They have 3 or 4 tables I think. So it's more of a take out place. Just try it out. Restaurants is a tough business. I hope they get plenty of business so they can stick around for a long time. Definitely worth driving around in circles for parking! Every time I have seen birria tacos online, my mouth waters and I am so glad this place exists! First timer birria taco eater and will not be my last. We ordered the combo, which included 3 tacos and a small bowl of birria stew. So happy to know this place is generous with their meat servings unlike other taco places! The meat was tender and well seasoned. We also opted for melted cheese in the taco. The stew was served in a big bowl and required deep dipping the tacos but I didn't mind. You cannot go to this place expecting to eat very neat and classy. Worth it! Inside was very cleaned and they only have about 2 tables and some seats by the window, and even made the take out orders to wait outside. We really enjoyed our dinner at Chofi. We had read their story on Eater, how they opened right before everything shut down due to the pandemic, and we are so glad they made it. They have three outdoor tables (we went in late July 2020) and I would recommend having the tacos immediately since they are very juicy and probably would not travel well. The tortillas had a nice texture and the tacos were all very flavorful. Obviously, start with the Birria tacos. We never had tacos with broth and they were delicious. The Carne Nortena tacos were excellent, perhaps my favorite of the bunch. The Mole Poblano tacos were also very tasty with a hint of sweetness. Update review, but this really is a must stop, possibly a must travel to. I've eaten here several times now and they are consistently fantastic tacos. When you eat here, start with the Birria taco with cheese. It's out of this world, the best birria taco I've had. The tortillas are delicious, they stood out to me as I was eating how good the tortilla was, which doesn't happen very often. If you order three Birria tacos, you get a free side of the beef consomme. Dip your tacos in it, drink it straight, either or, it's delicious. I may try to order extra for the winter months to alleviate any ailment. Make sure to get an agua fresca to wash the taco down, my personal favorite is Pina, but the horchata is also very very good. The chips with guacamole were a great starter, the chips are extra crispy and the guac was flavorful. We also ordered the flautas de papas y queso, which were hot, crispy, and flavorful. I really like the pickled onions, which gave a perfect amount of acid to cut through a rich dish. My second favorite taco was the carne nortena, which was also out of this world. The meat was cooked perfectly, well seasoned, and juicy. My partner loved the mole poblano taco. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the tacos. I haven't found a delicious one yet. The portion size was good, especially compared to other taco spots. Non-Food Stuff: The staff was fantastic, kind, helpful, and professional. The place itself is on the smaller side, there are maybe 4 tables and seats along the counter, but it's bright, colorful, and byob. I don't recall how he heard of the place, but I'm glad he did. He ordered us a couple of quesadillas as well as some type of birria platter. I checked the menu and I'm not sure which it was he ordered. Honestly, he might have ordered tacos, but since it was takeout, they served the meat separately from the tortillas. I got 3 birria tacos to go and they were super yummy! The tacos are wrapped in foil to keep them pipping hot, the meat was tender and juicy the taco shell itself is coated in a thin layer of butter to keep it from drying out and it gave the taco extra flavor! Are you here because of the now-famous birria tacos on TikTok and Instagram! ME TOO! Honestly, I was so happy to see that there was a place that sold the now-viral birria tacos in the Hudson County area. I mean...we are a mecca for Spanish/Hispanic cuisine, I am shocked that this trend is not found elsewhere in the area. The shorted version of my review is this...these tacos are very good, and you can tell this place makes a point to offer fresh food. It is truly amazing what they pump out in this tiny little kitchen. (If you're a local like me, you know that some of the best food comes out of places that are the size of a broom closet.) If you are in the area and curious about the taste of birria tacos, this place will do the trick. Also, I love the personal story behind Chofi (check out their website to read their story). Now, keep in the mind (thanks to covid) seat here is extremely limited, so I suggest calling ahead and taking your order to go. Also, there is usually a line out the door for these tacos, so again, call ahead (or place your order online) for faster service. Here's the nitty-gritty review. I've been to Chofi a few times, and I feel like I am eating different food depending on when I go. I think, depending on who is the head chef at the time, you will get slightly different tacos. For example, the first time I ate the birria tacos at Chofi, I found the meat and the homemade tortillas rather bland...nicely seasoned, but no salt at all. The tortillas were a bit thick and gummy. Then, I ate there again (this time , I took the tacos to go), and the sodium content was THROUGH THE ROOF! Still very tasty, but I felt like I was dehydrated for hours. Once Chofi finds that happy medium of salt-to-season ratio, these tacos will be perfect. Also, it's important to note here, that these tacos are a little expensive for the area...4 dollars for one birria taco, and 5 for a birria taco with cheese. (I can get an order of 4 tacos from for 9 dollars from my regular taco place.) However, these tacos are S T U F F E D - they DO stuff them with so much meat, it is falling out of the shell. So...take that information, and use your own judgement to order. While they do offer a mini bowl of broth (aka, consume) for dipping with three tacos, I can only every finish two, and I have one for leftovers. These tacos are savory, with succulent tender meat, and lots of umami flavor. This meal is hearty, comforting, and filling...like a warm, beefy hug. In fact, I suggest taking your food to go because THEY GET MESSY! Eat these in the comfort of your home as to not make a fool of yourself eating them. As a bonus, the workers here have been lovely and on point every time, even though they are working in small conditions with literal lines out the door...a true testament to a good business model! PS - they do offer a daily vegan option, which is nice...but the birria tacos are the real star here. I have no doubt that Chofi is here to stay, and I look forward to the day where they can expand their space even further! read more

Ok let's go with the review the very good tacos but a bit expensive since I have eaten tacos for a little cheaper and just as tasty. Another thing was that the person who attended me wrote down my order wrong and I received a chicken taco, which I did not say because in reality that is in the quality of the service, el esquite con tuétano something that really did not surprise me much !!
