honestly, the food here was INCREDIBLE & i would come here again for the amazing dishes. in addition, ordering was easy as well & they have tablets to order from and it's lowkey addicting to just keep on ordering. my favorite things i ordered was the chon-dak & the soy garlic wings. the tteokbokki was really good as well but to be real... i wouldn't get it again because i don't think it's THAT worth it. service: not gonna lie it was bad. my party & i did not feel welcomed. our waiter was quiet mostly the entire time which it felt off-putting. ambiance: it's a vibeeeeeee

If you want to try home-style Korean food, this is the place to go; the wings were nice and crispy with a unique flavor, and the glass noodles with Bulgogi were delicious, as was the pork belly. Everything was tasty--without a doubt, this is my favorite spot when I'm craving Korean food

Tried Chondak for the first time and was really impressed with both the food and the service. We ordered the kimchi fried rice, the roasted fried whole chicken with dipping sauces, and the platter that comes with spicy rice cakes, cheesy ramen, fried dumplings, blood sausage, and gimmari. The platter ended up being my favorite, a great variety and everything was cooked well and full of flavor. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, and while all the sauces were good, the mustard sauce stood out as my favorite. Service was spectacular from start to finish. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Overall a great experience, and I'll definitely be coming back.

First off the portions here are huge!! The prices seemed a bit expensive but once we got the food it made sense. The pork belly is cooked in front of you and it is so delicious and crispy. The bulgogi fries were the highlight of the meal though. The fries were crispy, the bulgogi was nice and sweet and they were so cheesy. The fried rice was also delicious and had a lil kick to it. The service was excellent and the inside was nice and quiet. But we were told it gets busy at night.

Chon Dak is serving massive portions of Korean street food and that whole crispy fried chicken is on EVERY table. Soy garlic wings, banchan for days, and the corn cheese + bulgogi fries combo = unreal House-made sauces, generous plates, and open till 2AM. Late-night cravings? Covered.

As my reviews are heavily weighted towards food taste, the food is okay, with the pork belly being a disappointment for me. The place has a good dive vibe for guilt-free drinks and Korean comfort food. And the owner is super friendly. The ambience is excellent here. If you are on a late night snack attack in LA South Bay, I recommend this place for that - they are open till 2am. Since my reviews and ratings are all about the food. Food-wise, Chon Dak is average. Charcoal Grilled Pork Belly - 2/5. This may be subjective. Maybe this isn't the proper cut of pork belly for this dish, but I find it too thick, of poor quality, and too fatty. The dipping sauce is just average, nothing special. I want to acknowledge that the restaurant used the right iron skillet and that, with some assistance from the waiter, the pork belly was browned correctly on the edges, giving it a good texture. Nonetheless, the whole pork belly just didn't come together for me when I ate it. Regretfully, this isn't my favorite item. Roasted Fried Whole Chicken - 4/5. This is a good dish. Overall, the chicken was well marinated. The skin was crispy and had a pleasant rotisserie taste. The inside isn't as juicy as I would like, but it was too shabby in terms of taste and juiciness. It's a good dish to complement the beer if you aren't looking for something too heavy.

Chon Dak is not as electric as K-town bars but it still has delicious and engaging food, and an interactive ordering system, and touches of fun. But, it also has stacked boxes near, the bathroom, which makes it feel like the place has an unfinished inventory task, or they have not understood how to organize their place for complete aesthetics. This is an example of what dilutes the bing-bang-bomp vibe that more IG viral places have, like for example Chi Chi's or Dang Su sa. Still this place is a romp in a Korean alley, maybe just the lights of this place flicker a lot and it is not in Seoul. Ironically, this place was spotlighted by IG and I made a point to visit it because it is closer to me than driving to Ktown and having to endure, its sometimes, loud scene. One of the items that I made a point to get was their whole roasted chicken. Yes, seeing the chicken be cut into pieces in front of me was something new, I have never seen. But also just kind of a quick nudge of a scene, it was not add a powder to the grill and wash now a blue flame rise tall moment. What I did not expect, was that the actual chicken was as good as it was. Like the skin, was fried to a crisp that made the texture almost chip like in its crispness. The sides also came in these never before seen containers. How to describe them? Maybe like, containers where sandwiches come that you open from one end by unclasping both sides that connect to the holes underneath. They had ranch, and mustard. For the price, the dish was a hit--- a dart or ninja star hitting bully's eye, point blank. Especially since the chicken can feed like three or four, depending, generally speaking, I know that there are some folks who would eat the chicken as their first app. it's fun to like order stuff from a screen at your table. In other restaurants, the ones in ktown, you can chat with other people and play games, and send people food so it becomes like a door to others, but here, it is just a menu on an ipad but still that adds engagement cause you have to use your fingers to touch a screen which adds pizzazz cause it makes yours finger dance. The bulgogi fries were also a super strong dish. Like imagine carne asada fries but with Asian flavors, which in my opinion win the fight. The bulgogi fries here had this cheese corn mixture, that added a flavor of richness and a nod to me specificallly cause I love corn. Everything we ate was grand, and the place felt alive! For example, there was a blue neon bottle advertising an alcoholic drink which was like maybe or most likely Korean. And this detail was small but awesome because it help complete the feeling that I was seeing fragments of an authenthic Korean eatery in Gardena. Like, Modelo advertising in Gardena is commong because it is a standard drink in California. But Korean beer is not sold as widely as Modelo. So the Neon sign represented a detail that is shipped from Korean culture which seems fresh to me. JIn Roi is back, is what the sign says. Oh ok, maybe Jin Roi is sake instead of beer, but same difference. This place is definetely worth a visit- it delivers in all fronts.

An amazing place to go to with large groups. The food and service were all top notch, made fresh to order and excellent in taste! I used to love this place since when they were Country kko kko. I would say their food got even better! To be honest, when they first expanded to Chon Dak, I wondered if the main chef has been changed because all the food tasted different (actually it was bad). However, I think the main chef came back recently because the flavor is as good as the first time; or even better as I mentioned. I got Jjim dak (soy sauce braised chicken) and dak bal (spicy chicken feet) for the dinner. The jjim dak is super tender and juicy with such flavorful sauce! If you end up having some left over, you should make fried rice using the sauce. Dak bal comes with some rice which you can make rice balls. The chicken feet is suuuuper spicy so BE AWARE! I would say it was the best dak bal I had throughout entire LA korean restaurants. Believe me. It was the best. I would definitely get these two combo sometime soon. Hope this place gets through these hard times. read more

Great Rotisserie chicken and love that they give u 3 kind of dipping sauce. Honey mustard, Ranch, and some kind sweet chili sauce. Best sauce was the honey mustard forsure. First time here and I am already planning for the next time I come. I am excited to try all the other plates I didn't get the chance to order. The pork belly was more than enough, and amazing! We also ordered wings and the bulgogi fries! Everything we ordered was a 10/10 highly recommend! Aside from the delicious food, the waiters/bussers and even the owner were very accommodating providing excellent customer service. The energy and hospitality is very authentic and I am already looking forward to coming back. You have to try any flavored Soju drink (21+) it is an alcoholic beverage. I've visited this place a handful of times now, and it's been shaky. I might say it's due to poor management or, perhaps, poor judgement is a better word. Essentially, I've had busboys trying to help and take my order... but because they're not trained as servers, they actually ended up doing more harm than good. It's not their fault -- they were just trying to help during busy moments -- but damn, it doesn't make up for a good experience. I'll be a little more concrete here. Basically I've had many moments where I'll try to order food -- or hell, even water -- and minutes pass with no result. I'll check in with an actual server only to find out they had no idea that I've ordered such things. And one time I was given shot glasses for my BEER by a busboy. Like, what? Maybe the solution here is to just hire more servers or schedule them better. Now for the food... the menu is pretty big, and there's a lot of things for everyone. We ordered the spicy soy garlic wings, steamed egg, kimchi pancake, and the spicy rice cake. First thing's first -- they actually do spicy quite well! Be warned if you're not used to "Korean spicy." The wings were quite alright. They came out hot, and tasted really decent. The steamed egg was a bit watery for me. The kimchi pancake and spicy rice cake were solid. But the radish had a very chemical-esque smell and taste to it, which was off-putting for me. Alcohol is a bit too high for me, making it difficult to recommend. For a place that closes at 2 a.m., I don't expect super quality food. But if your food isn't going to be quality, I expect being able to order a bunch of bottles for a group and still walk out satisfied. Yet, with the unstable customer service I just can't recommend it. It's a shame because this is one of the few places in Gardena that's even open this late. For that reason alone, I'm probably going to find myself here every now and then. But only because it's open when others aren't. read more

We live down the street and we're craving some chicken wings. Well.. I was, so we decided to check it out. Food portions are big! Given the price per dish, makes sense so it felt great seeing the big bowl of ddukbokki we got and the amount of wings. The ddukbokki was good. The spice level wasn't ridiculous like Yup Dduk so we really like this. We got the one with ramen so you had your rice cakes, noodles, fish cakes and other things. The Korean fried chicken wings were crispy and juicy and HUGE! Maybe it was the breading... actually it wasn't the breading because even tho that part was crispy, the meat of the wing was plump. Definitely worth a try. We didn't get to try the Chon Dak but I'd suggest checking it out if you go. Check out the pictures. It's a ridiculous dish that looks so good. Next time!!! read more

Love coming here just to casually eat and drink with friends after work! If it's busy the atmosphere is really nice and even if there's not as many people it's a chill spot! The food quality is really good for a pocha in Gardena and Jeanie is always so nice and giving when we stop by!! Me and my friends always think of chondak when we're hungry and it's late:) read more

Felt like the food could be better in quality and hotter for sure. The only one thing I ordered that came out well was the soy sauce garlic chicken wings. That's probably the only thing that kept me from giving it 2 stars. The server didn't really explain well what Chon Dak is other than it has chicken and it's spicy and it's large in portion for 3 people. The pickled radish in the red dish was way more fermented than it should be and it was soggy. Not crunchy like I've had at other KFC (korean fried chicken) places. What came out onto the table was a bit like surprising and it wasn't hot enough. Cheese did not melt and the corn was cold. Fries were soggy and not crispy and whatever the other piece is pita bread? Pita chips was also not crispy. Small amount of rice at the bottom with all the sauce and the chicken pieces reminded me of Panda Express style. They had potatoes in there which was a surprise too it was like digging for chicken and there's rice cake that was hard and then sweet potatoes. Overall would not recommend it to anyone unless they keep it hot the entire time or just not order that again. Plenty parking and the place inside is not well lit. went around 9-10pm read more

We stopped by for a late dinner after an event. There was a long line when we went on November 27th 2021, and it took them around 30 mins to seat us. It was really late at night (close to midnight) and many of the menu items were sold out. A few of us ordered fried chicken and couple of us ordered Bulgogi fried rice and flavored soju. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the owner who sat us down immediately. Despite the limited options during happy hour, the owner suggested the pork belly combo, which turned out to be a delightful surprise. It included an array of delectable dishes: corn cheese, soy garlic wings, pork belly, dubokki, mushrooms, kimchi, and tofu soup. The owner was sooo nice as she happily accommodated our request to swap the tofu soup for fish cake soup since it was our first visit. The food was a delightful mix of flavors and textures, with each dish leaving us satisfied - except for the pork belly, which was a tad chewy and thick for our liking. Nonetheless, the ambiance of the restaurant and the bonus of cute dog outfits for sale added to the overall experience.
