Chicken Salad
Joann V.

4 stars Kue's has been open a little over 1 year ago and, today, my family and I got a chance to try this restaurant. I remember when it was the Diner on Main and, since then, the interior has been remodeled. The interior is comfortable, clean, and the lighting makes the place quite intimate. As for the food, I thought it was very well-seasoned without being too salty. These were the dishes we got: Chicken Salad ($28): A cold chicken salad with fried taro strips, pickled peppers, shredded carrots, cilantro, and sweet pickled onions. I thought this would be very bland, but it turned out to be my favorite dish because of how refreshing it is. The chicken is boiled like hainan chicken and seasoned with a light, tangy sauce. Everything went well together. 4.5/5 stars Orange Chicken ($18): This is a pretty typical orange chicken. I don't think it wow'd me, but I liked that it wasn't overly breaded. 4/5 stars Black Pepper Filet Mignon with Mushrooms ($25): I'm not a huge mushroom person, but I really liked the mushrooms here. It was a combo of oyster mushrooms and button mushrooms with cubed filet mignon. The beef was also really tender, almost melt-in-your-mouth. 4/5 stars Shrimp in XO sauce ($25): This dish was slightly spicier than I expected, but it was also pretty good. The size of the shrimp was huge and the vegetables were on point. It had snap peas, bell peppers, and mountain potato (aka Japanese mountain yam). 4/5 stars The service was very attentive and the owner of the restaurant was very kind. The owner helped us mix the chicken salad at the beginning of our meal and helped my mom cut her birthday cake at the end of the meal. 5/5 stars for service. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes.

They had a parking lot so that was great! We were a few minutes early since they opened at 12 on Sunday but they let us in early haha. The waitress was so kind and sweet. They have a patio, but let us dine inside with our dog. We had him in a stroller and laid a blanket out on the booth seating :) our dog is pretty chill so that helped too. The waitress even got our dog some water. The shrimp was so good, huge, and crispy! Eggplant was delicious and flavorful. Scallop fries rice was good - I ate it with the eggplant sauce. The mala catfish was absolutely delicious and spicy! It had noodles in it too. Had a very pleasant experience here and would recommend to anyone. The food is more pricey but 100% worth it and so delicious. And they had a cocktail menu too. So you can tell this place is more fancy restaurant. I wanted to try some but had a whole day ahead of me haha

I've recently started an annual tradition of having a Friendsgiving and gift exchange party, and I wanted to do it at a place that was friendly for groups. I saw that Kue's had large tables and private rooms, and decided to get a reservation here. I was hoping to get the private room, but instead we got a table in the regular dining area. We made a reservation for 7:30 PM, but I think the staff overbooked and we couldn't even sit at our table until 8:00 PM. We had a table of 13, fortunately some people arrived late so it was ok that we started late. The staff were nice enough, but I wish we did not have to wait for seating. I asked my friend, who was a regular here, to order the food. She really enjoys Cantonese food. We had a wide variety of dishes. My favorite was the scallion chicken. The chicken skin was included with the chicken meat itself. The chicken was juicy and went well with the scallions and vegetables. The cha siu was also quite juicy, using fatty pork belly, but definitely different from traditional Cantonese cha siu. The sweet and sour pork was ok, I've had better in San Gabriel Valley. I loved the clay pot rice and also the crispy rice soup. Everything overall was solid.

Came here for the first time in July with friends. Finding that most of the food was delicious, my husband and I brought his laments here to try it out. Definitely a place to try. The service the first time seemed better than the second time, but I assume because it was more busier the second time we dined in. Almost everything we ate was delicious. The only thing I'd stay away from is the Crispy Pork Belly. It was super dry and I found it odd that the dipping sauce was condensed milk. Another note is that the you can taste the wok hei in the Beef Chow Fun, but there was something missing from the flavor. Overall, i'dstill go back.

Celebrating birthday with friends at Kue's was a great experience! Private room was nice and quiet, service was excellent, and all the dishes were delicious. I especially love the coconut chicken soup, wasabi vinaigrette fungus, and clay pot fish.

It was my 2nd time dining in yesterday. Came here last time with my BF and the food was pretty good and decided to take my family here yesterday for Father's Day. Making reservations was easy. Just called it in and reserved it for a specific time. However, the 2nd time I got to try more different dishes as we had more people. But the food was lacking. It was either too salty or oily. The only best dish that we enjoyed was the Chicken salad. It had shredded chicken carrots, red onions, garlic, cilantro, tomato, peanuts and thinly shredded fried taro strips. It was mixed in this sesame vinaigrette dressing that made it very good. Very good appetizer. Salty Fish Eggplant clay pot was full of oil and had no taste. Choy Sum veggie dish was ok. It was shiny with oil with lots of garlic. The garlic part is fine because I love garlic but when you bit into the vegetable, it was tough. Not the crunch when you bite it so it was disappointing. Beef Chow Fun did not taste as good as the first time. It had the "wok hey" from cooking but it lacked the taste. Steamed whole fish in the bed of Garlic was good. But can taste the fishiness. It was topped with lots of ginger scallion sauce on top. Crispy pork belly was ok. It came with a side of condensed milk for dipping which I thought was interesting but the taste together was good. The only complaint was the pieces were cut too big. We had to cut it up so everyone can try a piece. Fried Tofu and garlic wings were a hit for the little kids. Would totally recommend that! Golden Yolk prawns were huge! It was good but too much salty egg yolk sauce. It became salty. Overall, the service was ok. We had to ask for our water to be refilled and catch their attention. Not sure if it was because it was holiday and not enough staff but for the price of the dishes and restaurant the service should be on top. I feel like you can get these dishes at other Chinese restaurants for a lot cheaper but I can see they try to make the dishes a little more upscale here because of the price. If you want to give this place a try, go for happy hour and you don't need to pay as much. Other than that, I don't give this place high hopes.

My friend and I were walking down Main Street in Alhambra and stumbled upon this new restaurant and bar. Drinks: 5/5 We came here for just for their drinks and did not get any food. We got their dragon mule and the cove. Both drinks were exceptionally strong but tasty. For the cove, it was a rum based drink and tasted really good but had pretty high alcohol content. I would definitely recommend it. The mule was pretty standard but still good. Service: 5/5 We got seated right away at the bar when we got in. The bar tender was welcoming and introduced us to their drinks and happy hour. Our drinks came out pretty quick. Ambiance: 5/5 This place was great for drinks. It's upscale and the bar seating was really elegant. I would definitely come back here to try their food and happy hour.

Went during happy hour (9pm - 12am midnight) Nice booth seating, comfortable atmosphere Called restaurant, staff speaks Cantonese Servers were polite Food: -Beef Chow Fun ($15): tasted pretty good, can't go wrong with classic chinese style chow fun -Chicken wings ($11): crispy and hot, nice texture -mixed stir fry vegetable ($22): good mix of different vegetables, but too pricey imo for what you get Beef chow fun and chicken wings were a reasonable price for the happy hour menu, overall had an enjoyable meal, would come back again for happy hour but I think their regular menu prices are way too expensive Love how they are open till midnight, and you can hang out there

Free parking structure on 1st street. Plenty of free street parking. Decor was very nice. Came on a Sunday during Happy Hour with no wait. Got the Garlic Pepper Crispy Chicken Wings for $11 and the Beef Chow Fun for $15. Both dishes were amazing, but too oily. The Garlic Pepper Crispy Chicken Wings was really good and definitely and must order. This is place is on the pricier side. Would come back once in a while.

We came to Kue's last weekend to finally try the restaurant since they open in November. We made reservation for a big party. Plenty of parking in the lot and it was no problem. When we walked in, we felt the casual ambience with a bar, music and the TV playing sports. The menu has a good variety of appetizers food for HH. For dinner, they also have some unique dishes. We tried the roasted Brussels sprouts, hand shredded chicken salad- this is very delicious, the barbecue pork, friend tofu, fried eggplant, sauté filet mignon with mushroom, kung pao shrimp and the pan fried carport truffle. All in all the food tastes delicious, a little in the salty side. The prices are reasonable. There are many good dishes and HH that I'd like to return and try.

TLDR: Amazing late night snack and drink location, exactly what Alhambra needed! Amazing appetizers, with many TASTY recommendations. I will admit they err on the saltier side. For the lighter seasoning folks, I recommend asking for "light salt." And all at an AFFORDABLE cost in this economy? Yes, sign me up! - - - - - - Kue's, a recent addition to Alhambra, is exactly what Alhambra needed, especially near Main St. For starters, night life is fairly quiet in SGV. At the time of visit (St. Patrick's Day), they had a Happy Hour menu which had a ton of nice appetizers and lightly discounted drinks. I personally had a draft beer (Sapporo) as it's my go-to, but my party ordered their Truffle Fries, Fried Tofu, Garlic Brussel Sprouts, and Fried Calamari. Between these options, I have to admit the BEST appetizers were in fact: Garlic Brussel Sprouts - garlic was just right, all roasted to perfection. This was too salty, though. Fried Calmari - Lightly fried, barely a hint of grease, and a good portion for the price. Tasty, too, with their sauce, though the sauce wasn't as remarkable. Truffle Fries - a bit limp, not too crunchy and rather disappointed in this one. The truffle was a nice to dip, but I didn't enjoy this one too much either. Fried Tofu - a tad expensive, it better be worth it... and wow it was worth it! The tofu was masterfully prepared, with a light layer of breading and perfectly cooked tofu. How perfect? I even deconstructed it for a picture! Between the attentive waiter and potential manager / owner serving us, I was impressed with their professionalism and etiquette. Each action was meticulous, and their work was CLEAN. Will definitely be back!

KUES restaurant and Bar Mazda have a very skillful chef who makes the authentic Chinese Cantonese cuisine, his Avalon is as delicious as the Hong abalone King! We have ordered a lot of Chinese food each everyone reach my standard of them high heat floating wok , which makes the flavor contains really tasty smell ! We will have cake. In fact, very seldom very few chef can have this kind of a skill to stirfry quick fast over really high heat to make the heat and flavor pantry inside Food and Veggie.! All of my friends are very satisfied with the food and service! Ken the manager is a very professional manager who trained the server, very professional! We love the big bar The restaurant is beautiful from outside, but if you come inside, you will be amazed by the long far, booth sitting are very comfortable! One thing I love is that they have two private rooms for distinguished guests! I think the pricing with the warm friendly service and Decor it's worth trying! And I definitely will come back again

GREAT DRINKS AND COZY AND CHIC VIBES We stopped by for our first time to get drinks. They have a LNY cocktail menus for $12 each. Ordered the mango treasure and the mandarin mule and they tasted so good. I honestly wanted to order another mango treasure. We also couldn't resist the truffle oil fries. Its dipping sauce was delicious and umami with the fries. LNY drinks end on Sunday so make sure to check it out before then. We were very happy with our date and can't wait to come back and try the food; the menu is huge and has a lot of yummy entrees. Their daily cocktail menu looked great too. Great way to start the new year!

Delightfully understated atmosphere with unique tiles throughout the decor, and we loved that we could hear each other talk and enjoy each other's company. Our server was amazing, she was so knowledgeable while being personable and extremely funny. I assume she's the cook's wife based on the other reviews - I arrived a little after my aunts, so I didn't get a full introduction since they had already secured a table and had ordered some drinks while looking over the menu. I had my eye on 3 different meat dishes - the Roasted Duck Breast, the New Zealand Lamb, and the Angus Beef Ribeye Steak - and my aunts also had each picked 1 of those, so we went family style, and it did not disappoint!! The chef knows how to cook each type of meat to perfection, and the searing pans are doing exactly what they need to be doing! The Roast Duck Breast was AMAZING as cooked to the recommended medium, with delicious crispy skin. The Angus Beef Ribeye Steak at medium rare was as tasty as it was gorgeous! And the New Zealand Lamb was PERFECTION, down to the bone. We also got the gourmet macaroni and cheese as an add-on side, since all the meals come with mashed potatoes and various veggies, and I was in heaven! As someone who used to work at the Disney Parks and frequented the steakhouses and other fine dining both here and in Orlando, Sage Bistro is giving Disney a run for its money when it comes to high-quality meat dishes! The prices reflect both the cut of the meats and the skill of preparation, with it averaging to about $50 each across the 3 of us, which is pretty reasonable for top-tier quality! The only thing I had to be careful about was that many of the dishes have mushrooms, and my throat gets itchy if I eat most mushrooms, so I had to avoid those dishes. During our meal, when I mentioned it to our server for future visits, she was great at noting which dishes could completely be modified to have no mushrooms while also being realistic about acknowledging the dishes that cannot be, which sadly includes the Braised Short Rib that sounds out of this world. But I can have the Beef Rib Soup, so I definitely want to try that next because I WILL BE BACK!!! They also offer takeaway, and were very generous in giving us each a coupon card to use for ordering through their website.

I'm sure you can find something for yourself or order a couple of items if you're going with one other person or a small group as well. Made a reservation for a group of friends that meet up for a meal from time to time and this restaurant is perfect for that dynamic. When we got there, I checked and and we were seated right away. It's not often I get to go to these full service banquet style Asian (mostly Chinese) restaurants but I miss going to them as a kid with my family. The service from the folks who sat us and the ladies taking our order was great from the beginning. So friendly! For myself, I got some milk tea to wash down all the delicious food we ordered. Although we didn't do any of the specials that required ordering a day or two in advance (the braised morel and chicken soup or the winter melon soup), I think we ordered really well! As a group, we ordered: -Sauteed water spinach with spicy bean (needed some veggies) -Cantonese style mapo tofu (classic) -Spicy salt shrimp -Chestnut and chicken in clay pot -Lamb and bean curd hot pot (soup) -House special Vietnamese style lobster (more than 5 lbs), with added noodles I thought everything was tasty and just having a variety like that in a sizeable group makes this type of dining experience such a delight. We splurged a bit with the lobster and without it or per person cost probably would have been a lot lower, but sometimes you have to splurge and with a dish like the lobster here, it's a good one to do so!
