Great place to eat in! I've been the other location in Edison as well. Great food at both, but this one is a nicer one to go with friends or family for a nice evening out. The food always tastes fresh and is perfectly spiced! I always order the Chili Paneer dry or with gravy depending on my mood. This place is a dump. Soup tasted like dish wash water. The cauliflower in one of the dishes was on the verge of going bad most likely due to repeat thawing and refreezing. My guess is that they save the left overs from the buffet and serve them for dinner. Hate places that cut corners. read more

Came in for weekday lunch because I couldn't find anything else around. I ordered the Manchurian chicken lunch special. I only had an hour to eat, it took forever for the food to arrive, and when it did, I was served the soup and entree at the same time. I was only one in restaurant when I arrived. Hostess/waitress woman, who may also be owner, was an airhead. The food was edible but then for days after I had gastrointestinal issues. We have been there about 4 times and probably the main reason is their proximity, liking for a occasional fix of Indo Chinese, and fast service. Food is OK. Their dry Chilli Paneer is quite good. Hi. I just want to share my bad experience at this restaurant. This restaurant is at a walkable distance from our condo and so yesterday night we decided to try it. The food was not all that great and while we were having the food the lady at the counter was having a loud argument with one of the customers. We dint know the reason then. But when we got the bill, we were shocked. It was just the two of us and she charged 18% gratuity in the bill. When asked about it she was very arrogant and said that it is the tip we are supposed to pay. Then she had the nerve to tell that "PLEASE DON'T COME TO MY RESTAURANT NEXT TIME" These were her exact words and she was a real bitch. She had the exact same fight with the customer before us. We got take out from this restaurant and were shocked by how spicy the food was! We love spicy Indian food but this was really bad. Also, prices are very high relative to other places in the same area. Their prices are not listed online so we ended up not knowing how much we ordered for and found that the appetizers were actually more expensive than the entrees. Never heard of that before. Ok food lousy service. Halfway between our meal some kids came up behind our table to look at the fish tank.They started screaming and yelling. After complaining about it 4 times and management blatantly ignoring it we were charged Gratuity!!!!!.(There were 2 adults and 2 kids in our party). Gratuity for what??? For a lousy time I guess. This was one of the few restaurants in the area that didn't lose power after Superstorm Sandy, so I remember coming here the day after the storm to recharge my phone and to have a hot meal. The waiter was very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. I tried an Indian dish which was delicious. They give very large portions. (I was so stuffed and wanted to take home my leftovers, but I then remembered that I lost power at my home and could not refrigerate them!) The only thing I found unusual for an Asian Fusion restaurant was that they do not have any hot tea! read more

I had a strange experience with this restaurant. First I have to say the food was delicious. So why the low review? It is all due to the service. Working in the area I saw good online reviews and checked the menu, intending to buy takeout. There were no prices. I called and said I would like to order takeout, but could not see the prices. She said they don't have a takeout menu, but I should tell her what I wanted and she could say the price. I hesitated, not wanting to go back and forth picking items and getting a price. In my hesitation she said I should call her back when ready and hung up on me. Still intrigued by the good reviews, I drove to the restaurant, and picked up a menu. In the first page it mentioned lunch special only available 11-2. I asked about the lunch special and she said they no longer had it. At the table where I sat there were 4 tubs of hot sauce. I dripped some on my finger and tasted it. It was delicious. I finally ordered Thai red curry chicken. After taking my order she whisked the jars of hot sauce off the table, and took them into the kitchen. I said I was hoping to put some of the sauce on my dish. "I'll put some in your order." When I got back to my office the sauce she had given me was a ketchup like marinara sauce, not the delicious sauce on the table. The dish was indeed delicious, but I am none the less left with the impression of dealing with a peasant who has stepped up in life but can never shake off the mentality of the village. It makes me doubt things, like what was actually in the dish, and also the apologetic response she will no doubt give to this post. Never the less, the food was good, whatever it was. read more

I don't usually write reviews but then my experience has been so bad with this place that I want to save anyone else who is planning to try the food here !! If I could give them "zero" stars, I will do so. Let me start with my order ! Chicken Garlic (one of the very basic Indo-Chinese recipes), Vegetable Manchurian Gravy (again pretty basic), Cauliflower Manchurian and Fried Rice (doesn't get easier than that). My Cauliflower Manchurian was so spicy that one could choke to death eating that. The only flavor in the dish was that of green chilies (as if its the cheapest ingredient and use as much as you can). Secondly, Chicken Garlic - sour , sour , sour - I don't know how many spoons of vinegar was used. Vegetable Manchurian - Oily, overuse of soy sauce - just yuck ! and finally, uncooked rice = fried rice. I was so mad that I even called the restaurant and reported the issue. I was told that they use organic ingredients, have been running the restaurant for 15 years (I don't know how that is even relevant) and its a family owned business (for all I care). I was also told that the chef is from a reputed college and has worked elsewhere in a restaurant of notable reputation etc. blah blah blah ! I paid $ 54 (very high for insipid food) and had to trash all of it and eat bread for dinner ! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS !!!! read more

I am a regular at Chopstik and love their food! Service is excellent. Try the pepper chicken for appetizers and lemon chicken for the main course. Request the "Date Pan Cakes" that is not listed on the menu. Also try the paneer and chicken tikka (only available on certain days) and you will be surprised by how tender it is. My experience was very similar to the last person who left their review on here. We were a group of 3 and went to chopstick for dinner. When we originally arrived there, no one was there to receive us. Throughout the time we were there the waiter was no whwre to be found. After waiting at least 20 minutes, I went to the front and paid. I had the same issue as the last reviewer. They didn't accept the livingsoccial voucher from my phone. This is really stupid. I have bought a lot of restaurant vouchers and I never had this problem. At the end I was able to email the voucher. I was glad for the solution because I absolutely do not intend to go back there. My friend absolutely hated her sweet and sour chicken and send it back. The portions were smaller than most other restaurants in the area, more expensive and very okay in taste. I believe it is absolutely wrong when restaurants like this with horrible service FORCE you to pay tip (gratuity) and that too on such small group of people. read more

We got to the restaurant around 2:30pm for lunch. It was warm outside. You need to pay in advance prior to seating. The restaurant was empty but they insisted that you sit in the 'PARTY ROOM". Because the restaurant was set-up for Dinner. I asked when the dinner started and learned that Dinner doesn't start until 4:30pm. It was about 100 degrees in the "PARTY ROOM". The "PARTY ROOM" is a closed tent with old saree's hung as a decoration. There are several tables and 1 ceiling fan. They keep closing the main door to the party room and the wait staff kept insisting that the AC was on. Within 5 minutes, my entire party (6 of us) had to get out of the "PARTY ROOM" as we were drenched in sweat from the heat. Other's did the same. Food was so so.. everything tasted the same. Horrible service. After paying almost $15 for the buffet, I end up having just the ice cream. Between the heat in the party room and the horrible service, I lost my appetite. I have a fair knowledge of various cuisines and I very well know how much corn starch she used in her vegetable Manchuria. So when we sent the dish back, she was came up to us and started explaining how Manchuria is made. Here's more, she asked us to reconsider our order so that we don't send back. I had a great experience here! Traveling on business and eating alone I was sat at a duece close by a family of three with a young girl (7 or 8) that was a big fan of her food. As I was alone and it was late the service was very attentive. I ordered a lamb dish with a side of Basmati rice. The cook came out to ask what heat I preferred, would I like her to add some mushrooms and etc, it was very nice touch during a slow period. The lamb was good - the simple rice exceptional! Full disclosure - I've been in the industry for 20 years - this was exceptional rice. I asked the and the server explained the process and was surprised at my understanding on the process and asked how I knew about Indian cooking. The cook came out again, a bit intrigued that a walk in knew a bit about the food and she spent several more minutes sharing about the food she cooks, the restaurant (and their others), a friend who owns restaurants in Chicago (my hometown) and such. By now it was the end of the night, her husband/partner/co-chef came in and the very hospitable conversation continued casually for another 10-15 minutes. They had prepared a family meal of rice which they shared with me (it was incredibly good, typical fired rice done really well!). The restaurant is rather tight, As an industry veteran I am always challenged by clutter and Chopstick III has a lot going on... For me once I am confident the restaurant is clean the service is so key followed by the food - on my visit Chopstick III knocked it out of the park. Took a couple of my white friends for a business dinner, bad idea.. when the guy said he cannot cook the food with a little less spice, i knew the writing on the wall.. Precooked food is being heated up and sold. this is not the way to run a restaurant. And no naan??? How can that happen? Well the answer was we serve it only with buffet.. BAD. If it is an Indian restaurant they should be able to serve naan at all times and also have roti/chapati/parata at all times. Will never go back there. read more

Since i was in a mood to eat a nice spicey food, inspite of the distance and being really hungry we went to North brunswick location for Lunch Buffet. I went with my two girls, aging 16 and 9yrs. There wasnt much choice in the buffet for the main course, nan was good but not fresh, sason ka saag was un edible, mixed veg dish was good, but was made with frozen veggies. Starters we decent. My frustration was that i was in a hurry and didnt get a chance to ask for the detailed receipt. for three guests the total bill came upto $43 and take out for two dishes was 8.99 each, but they billed me for 19.95. I was tired and in a mood to rush home. It struck after couple of hours that $43 was way too much for group of three, that too with a kid below 10 yrs. I called their place to sort it out and apparantly they are including the gratuity as well. I dont remember any restraunts doing this first for buffet and that too for a party of three. The lady over there is a sweet talker and i assumed that she would be fair. she also went to extent of informing that they do not fill up the items for people coming in late or just before closing time. If as a business owner, not interested in filling up the empty trays, then you should not allow them to come in. Over all i felt i was cheated blind and i am going to put this charge in dispute. If you are visiting the restaurant pls do check what you are paying for. I used to be a fan of this place for their Red Dang curry and Hakka Noodles. Ambiance is so worst , its a really small place with unhygienic food and tables .The plates kept before serving us had insects on it.We ordered garlic Hakka noodles they were so pathetic tasted bitter....we had garlic flavored dishes elsewhere which were so nice but never got that stinking smell like these guys have.....
