Chinese takeout is like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get. On my journey to find the right balance of quality and value, I saw myself at the same plaza as another Canton area restaurant I've been to (Babylon Kabob). Chopstick House came recommended by a fellow foodie, and he did not disappoint. For the best introduction to a potential new spot, I like to try simple and common items to get a good idea of what is what, so I went with sweet & sour chicken, broccoli beef, and fried rangoon. This was some the best Chinese takeout I've had in a long time. The batter on the chicken was super crispy but not soaked in oil, with an amazing tub of sweet and sour sauce to compliment it. The sauce itself had a nice vinegar aftertaste that balanced the sweetness perfectly so it didn't feel like I was eating a fruit juice like some places. The beef was very tender with the broccoli still retaining some crunch despite being covered in the juices of the beef. The cheese filling in the rangoon was also warm and creamy, which was made better by the crunchy bite from the wonton. It wasn't like it was the best rangoon ever, but it is in my opinion a perfect example of how it should be made from a mom and pop Chinese place. If I had to give one critique it's that the pineapple and veggies for the chicken dish were so boring and seemed like an afterthought. If they just gave me the chicken pieces with the complimentary rice it would have been an improvement. Regardless Chopstick House is my new favorite Canton area Chinese food spot.

I ordered from here for the first and had it delivered to my home. I loved how everything was fresh and still hot when it all arrived. The crab rangoon and dumplings were yummy. Everything else was pretty good as well. No complaints really. Their general tso sauce on my chicken was different than what I'm used to, but my meal was still good. Definitely enough for 2 days worth of dinner

So Happy to find this place open since 2007, enjoyed a marvelous lunch . Waitress confused us when we entered went towards booth near window, she says whoa what you want. I asked are you open, she says you must wait by door WTF ain't no sign and just one other booth with customers. She was really strange throughout the whole ordering process , put a sign in door or just shut up lady. She ordered a Chicken Veggies lunch combo with Fried Rice a buck more, not worth it flavorless. She had a Wonton Soup with combo and Egg Roll. I knew what I wanted doing online research, Hot Sour Soup, Scallion Pancakes and Chinese Cold Noodles. Truly great Hot n Sour Soup, note first ever Chinese restaurant you don't receive Chinese crackers of any kind WHY ?. Yummy delicious Chinese Scallion Pancakes so hard to find around town. The true winner on menu just called Cold Noodles is a new addiction OMG outstanding flavor . SPICY PEANUT NOODLES The star of these spicy peanut noodles is the sauce! Mix peanut butter, doubanjiang (fermented broad bean paste), and a few seasonings together to get a noodle sauce that delivers in savory and spicy flavor. They just don't know how to name menu items, they have listed Beef on menu witch is Balamaki Chinese Steak on Skewers. They never heard of, I've had at dozens of places. Going back for those Spicy Peanut Butter Cold Noodles, yeah they so uniquely delicious #chopstickhouse #spicypeanutcoldnoodlesalad #coldnoodles #spicynoodles #scallionpancake #hotsoursoup #chinesefood #cantonmi

Hot and Hot & Sour Soup

We ordered the tofu home style luncheon special. You can choose how spicy you want it. This dish is made with fried tofu, snow peas, red peppers, and Chinese shittake mushrooms in a brown sauce. It comes with fried rice and choice of soup (hot and sour, egg drop or wonton) and egg roll (has pork and shrimp inside) or spring roll. The other dish we picked was chicken rice noodles. Which was made with onions, green onions, bean sprouts, and chicken. Overall, there was a lot of food for a great price. Currently they are only doing carry out orders and closed on Mondays. You also can get a 5% discount if you pay with cash.

This is by far the best Chinese restaurant in canton. I love the lunch special. It's a great deal. The Hunan black bean sauce is amazing.

Awful food, even worse people. Incredibly rude to customers! It was the absolute worst customer…read moreexperience I have ever had in a restaurant, take-out or otherwise, by far! The guy "tag-teamed" his wife to come out of the kitchen and bicker with me, right in front of multiple other customers, when I "dared" to speak up about their tone and attitude, then repeatedly pointed to a sign on the wall that said "we match your energy" (AKA: "we reserve the right to be total a****les for any and all perceived slights, real or imagined") when I had the "audacity" to complain about how they spoke to me and my dad on the phone and in-person. They were furious that my elderly dad was "taking too long" to place his order for four people (he was not, at all) and acting like it's somehow our fault that they only have a single phone line. Give me a break (take-out only establishment, by the way). They then proceeded to promptly cancel my dad's order and shoo me out, all the while cussing at me in Mandarin, at which point I walked out of there (for the last time). You would do well to AVOID this place at all costs, trust. Not to mention, I've had their food more than a few times before, and it is not even NEARLY good enough to justify them being this nasty towards their patrons. Their offerings are the very definition of "sodium-infused slop" and "mediocre at best" and they act like we are lucky to be allowed to purchase them. What a joke! Do yourself a HUGE favor (like I did) and pay a little extra for a place with WAY better people and service, and MILES better quality food, places such as Shangri-La (amazing!), for example. Never, ever again. You have been warned!

BUUT why are you closed every time I'm craving Chinese? I get it. Everyone deserves time off. You're a small family business. Work-life balance, as they say! But I want my (huge, perfectly crisp, bursting with deliciousness) egg rolls dammit! I've even got my parents who live in Arizona hooked on you like a drug. Only to be disappointed whenever they are in town-sure enough you are closed! It's becoming a running joke in my family. I'll call and get a busy signal on your single phone line as many times as it takes (11, to be exact tonight). Today, I hit rock bottom and ended up getting the most awful/greasy/disappointing almond boneless chicken and salty weird wonton soup from another establishment, like an addict who needs her fix). Never again. I understand that good things come to those who wait... I'll keep waiting for you, Szechuan Gourmet. Please be gentle with my heart. And my tastebuds. And my GI tract.

Don't expect the world's best anything - you are picking up freshly-cooked food defensively - anything you get here will be better than the gas station taquitos or the Arby's roast beef sandwich binge you will regret in 30 minutes. But to be clear, it's not going to be particularly great. Something about the time of day that I pass by through this area gets me so excited to toss in a pickup order just to see what I get. The Singapore-style Mei Fun is reliable. Get it plain without the Singapore curry spice if you're more suspicious. lol. Anything like String Beans with Garlic, or Beef with Broccoli, is going to be perfectly acceptable for a road warrior like you. The location, consistency, and ease of triangulation with regards to ordering over the phone (or having your shotgun passenger order) about 10 minutes before you reach this Hwy exit merits a solid 4-star review. The food is 3-star ish, but the mere existence of this place warrants a bonus "Oasis" star.

What's worse is it's a hidden gratuity that you may never notice. Pro Tip: Unbelievable someone has to be told this; check every item on your bill. Always look for posted signs as you initial enter; especially near the cash register. Also read the menu thoroughly. Normally, I wouldn't complain too loudly about an automatic 18% gratuity. What if today's service was lousy? It's no longer a tip, but a service charge. The biggest problem is not informing customers in advance. Maybe illegal? Well, IYKYK. I hate their dining room and probably always will. It's just like a boring, drab, dull office building cafeteria with no colour and nothing on the walls. Just an opinion. Always wanted to vent that. When it comes to customer service they are smiling, friendly and accommodating. Things have become a tad slow since pandemic. Maybe it's yet one more staffing shortage? The food here is very good. I encourage you to try the duck. Friends swear by the Wuxi Ribs. They did just raise the price to $22; but remember to add the 18% so that entree is now $26. I wonder if being a family O/O business, all tips stay in the building. Isn't that just a hidden price increase? 11/24

Total plot twist. The place was pretty quiet with only a few diners, so service was steady, though a little slow at times. We ordered the veggie noodles, cucumber salad, lamb skewers, xianbing pancake, and juicy pork dumplings. Overall, the food was decent and comfortably average, but honestly, we were just excited to finally find a Szechuan-style Chinese restaurant nearby. The veggie noodles were the clear winner of the night: chewy, flavorful, and coated in a sauce that had us going back for bite after bite. I could've done without the bok choy, though, and I wish the noodles had been a little less oily. The cucumber salad leaned much sweeter than we expected and was swimming in a bit too much soy sauce for our taste. The pork dumplings were nice and juicy inside, but the wrappers were slightly too doughy. Now the lamb skewers? Absolutely delicious. Great flavor, good portion size, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The biggest disappointment, unfortunately, was the xianbing pancake. It didn't feel authentic at all. The crepe was way too thick, and the crispy crackers inside had lost all crunch and turned soggy instead. Still, the cozy vibe, solid noodles, and tasty skewers made it a worthwhile visit, especially if you're craving Szechuan flavors around Madison Heights.
