Not sure why the negative reviews. It's a little more than the deli but you get what you pay for. Super fresh ingredients, some locally sourced, and homemade dressing. The chop it up tiny so you don't need a knife, and use sustainable containers. The main highlight of this chain is the staff, especially the manager, Corey, who goes above and beyond to get to know your favorite orders and you. When you're working hard, a good lunch and bit of midday happiness goes a long way. I like the wraps for when I'm in a rush. Santa Fe is my jam - romaine lettuce, half an avocado, corn, pepper jack cheese and crispy shallots. I also like the seasonal warm bowls and summer salads. The salad was alright but I was ultimately disappointed because it looked nothing like what I was expecting based on the picture. The "marinated" kale just seemed like plain kale, and apart from the sweet potato, everything was just kinda one color blended together. Solidly average salad bar chain around the office in Midtown that does the job. Chopt offers moderately priced salad/bowls with cold and warms with a seasonal/changing menu. I usually go with the Kale Caesar salad, but tried most recently the Mumbai Masala Bowl (warm bowl) from their seasonal/changing menu. It was pretty good (but was not the most wow-ed) and it did satisfy the healthier and fresher lunch option I wanted. Stopped in here to grab a salad for a pending flight. They were clean, fast, and efficient. They accommodated my request when I asked them just to put the salad together but not mix it. Just add the dressing to the side. Silly work process, but the product is good, although way overpriced. Had a meslun mix salad with peppers (green and jalapeno), black beans, tomatoes and shrimp with the spa (low cal) tex-mex ranch. The food was very good. However, the process is inefficient. The lady got the salad in the plastic bowl, added the ingredients into that bowl and then passed it to another worker. She dumped all the ingredients onto a counter to chop and then put everything in another bowl to stir and add dressing, then put stuff back in the original bowl. Here's the thing, other than the lettuce, nothing else needed to be chopped. I'm okay with eating shrimp...not shrimp pieces. The grape tomatoes had already been cut. My suggestion would be to chop the lettuce more before hand, then add everything to the bowl it's going to be mixed in to reduce the number of times the product is handled. You'll probably cut overhead by 30% and then maybe I won't have to pay $12 for a salad. read more

Usually I'm a huge fan of Chop't. This location disappointed me, for a couple reasons... I arrived after 2pm to find a fairly empty restaurant. I ordered up my salad and waited for the next available chopper. Compared to the other locations I've been to, this one only has 2 chopping stations. I can't imagine what this place is like at prime lunch time. Lucky for me the crowd had come and gone. But it looked as though the staff was ready to close up shop. It only took a few minutes for the gal to chop up that lettuce, mix in the dressing and package everything up but she just seemed like she was in a really bad mood the whole time. I'm not looking to become your new bff, but it would be ok for us to exchange "hi, how are you's" Cashing out was easy and bread (aka tortilla) was already wrapped up in foil and available at the cash register, this is a nice idea. I didn't have to worry about that tortilla getting all soggy on my way back to work. Speaking of soggy though my salad had way too much dressing. The gal who put my salad together was not only grumpy but was verrrrrrrrry liberal with the dressing. I'm used to the choppers taking it easy when it comes to dressing this lady was not. Salad was good but it certainly didn't need all that dressing. Overall an a-ok visit. But in the future I'll definitely stick with the fellas down on 17th St. read more

Chicken didn't have much flavor, could've used more dressing to make it taste better and less dry. I actually didn't even finish my entire bowl, but not due to size but because it just wasn't that great so why bother with the extra calories. It's not too common for me to eat lunch during the lunch hour rush in midtown, but once in a while, my business man brother has a free minute to sit down and grab a bite. From the outside, I guessed that it wasn't too busy since there were a few empty tables outside. Boy was I wrong. Upon opening the doors, I found myself inside what I often call the amusement park line. At first it looks like a huge crowd of people all over the place, but on closer inspection, I realized that every person was accounted for. There is a line to order, a line to wait for your salad to be chopped and a line to pay. There is even a line manager telling people where to go if the lines get a bit out of hand and accidentally cross. These people like order! Though I was completely overwhelmed, I was able to order a fairly simple DIY kale salad with hearts of palm, cucumber and beef - which looked like slices of roast beef. Once my tzatziki dressing was on and my salad was tossed, (haha...shut up) I got on the line to pay. Since my brother was running late and said he wouldn't have time to eat, I grabbed a mini brownie for him and handed over my credit card. All together, my salad and brownie came to $17 something. After I heard 17 I probably blacked out. I didn't grab a receipt so I don't know the breakdown, but damn! Then I remembered where I was. I was the only person there not wearing a blue button down with slacks or a black dress with heels. These are not my people. So I sat down outside and was pleasantly surprised at how full I got from a salad. The ingredients tasted fresh, there was a nice mix of everything and the dressing was really light and creamy all at once. I would estimate that there was about 5 cups of kale. It was pretty packed in. So I sat and waited and watched the crowds of blue shirts and black dresses walk by my table. It's pretty amazing how many people dress exactly the same over here. As a teacher, I'm typically swimming in a sea of pink dresses and cartoon t-shirts so I felt as if I was visiting another planet. In the end, my brother never came to the restaurant so I had to go to his office to see him for 3 minutes. I come here frequently for lunch for a grab and go salad for work. I originally posted here that I love the salads and the prices are fair (10-12 for lunch), but the one issue I had with the place is that the staff are extremely fast and not particularly friendly. After posting that, management approached me and promised they would immediately place action to enforce proper customer service even during rush hours and large volumes of customers. I am still a long term repeated customer here and I love it. The customer service is getting better although still pretty rushed. Great place for grab and go lunch. read more

3.5 stars. Chop't makes incredibly good salads, but today I just swung by to redeem LevelUp credit ($3.03) for Stacy's Pita Chips and Chop't's delicious Honey Oatmeal Raisin Cookie . The line for salads went out the door, but it moved very quickly. If you're buying non-salad items, you can just skip to the short line of people ready to pay for their orders. Clean, large, airy location right between Starbucks and a NYHRC gym. There's also a nice outdoor seating area in front. UPDATE (7/31/15): Normally, Chop't salads taste soooo good, but their latest Destination Salad, Baja Chicken Cobb ($11.42), was so BLAND! It was pretty terrible. Have stayed across the street at the Le Parker Meridien Hotel a couple times and this is a welcome healthy dining addition to W 56th between 6th and 7th. Many of you probably already know that this is a chain place, but it was new to me. It's kind of like a Subway ... only salads ... and seems a bit healthier ... and was classier. So I guess it isn't like a Subway at all, except that you order at a counter and have your meal assembled in front of you. Overall, a delicious light and healthy meal. I'll do it again. read more

This was my go to lunch spot when I worked in Midtown. The line is always out the door over lunchtime so I highly recommend ordering on seamless for pickup about 45 minutes ahead of time. I always ordered a felafel salad with spicy tahini dressing and it was just delicious! Guild free lunch for sure and very filling as well! My only complaint is that they are not always keeping on top of the pickup ordered. Don't let the line intimidate you--it moves faster than you would think and the salad is worth it and surprisingly not that expensive. I always get the kale caesar chicken salad and it's perfect. I've never eaten there or ordered in advance or gotten delivery so I can only speak for waiting it out in the line and taking it to go. This is my second time eating at a Chop't. I don't remember my first time all that well, but I do remember not being terribly impressed. This time? Still not impressed but now I have specific complaints. First of all, if you have any food allergy/intolerance, don't trust them to prevent cross-contamination. I wasn't paying 100% attention initially at whether the board scraper the lady used for my salad was clean or not, but after my salad was finished being prepped, she kept the used board scraper at her station even after putting the board and cutter in the pile to be washed. (There is a sign stating they will not mix nuts in your salad due to allergy concerns, which is great, but if you have gluten/wheat or dairy or egg allergies, you're taking a gamble.) Secondly, I got one of the new seasonal salads that was supposed to have avocado in it. I didn't see the guy put avocado in my salad (again, I wasn't paying 100% attention) but when I asked if he did, he said yes. Cut to me finishing the salad and finding there was the tiniest sliver of avocado - at most 1/10 of an avocado - in my salad. If I'm going to pay $10+ for a salad, I'm going somewhere else. read more

Went into today for a quick bite during lunch around noon and luckily I think I got the beginning part of the lunchtime rush so it wasn't too busy. However, it seemed like it was about to get busy. It was my first time and the vibe was great. Loved the open concept and how there was a sitting area. There are essentially 3 people per "station" and there are 2 "stations. One is where you order what you want and they toss all the incredients to make the salad and pass it over to the other station. This is where they chop (where I'm guessing the name comes from) up all the incredients and splash on the dressing of your choice while intensely mixing all the dressing + chopped ingredients together. Great concept. Theres good variety and I picked the Mexicali Vegan. I thought it was okay but next time I think I'll try a more bold flavor. It might be enjoyable to someone that likes lighter flavored salads. The delivery here is the absolute worst. When you are ordering $50-100 bucks of lettuce you would expect a bit quicker service when you are only 0.2 miles away. I keep kicking myself for continually ordering here when we repeatedly get poor service. It's hard to break habits but I have finally had it. Don't give a 20-35 minute delivery window if it will take longer than 90 minutes. That is 3x times as long as you are making customers think. Also - if a customer calls and asks where their salads are and you indicate in transit; it shouldn't be 30 minutes later and still no delivery. I'm not sure if it's the lying or the poor service that aggravates me more with this company. Sorry - Rant over. read more

This Chop't location is absolutely amazing! Every single time I come here, my salad is so fresh and beautiful! I ordered from another Chop't location last week and I had it delivered to my college. I had a bad experience because of how rude the delivery man was and my salad was missing chicken as well as the extra dressing I asked for. I went to this Chop't location thinking they made the error since they're the closest one to my college. Turns out, they weren't. The manager, Alisha, went out of her way and resolved my issues in under 5 minutes. She was so kind and understanding even though this wasn't even the location that made those errors. Real Time Lunch Review! Ordered up one of their Destination Salad (ooo...fancy....): Smoky Spanish Caesar Salad (Spicy Pimenton FreeBird chicken, caramelized fennel & onion, Iberico cheese, celery, Hot Bread Kitchen croutons, romaine, kale & radicchio w/Pimenton Lemon Caesar) Meh. Dressing coated everything well...but was super spicy, so as to overwhelm any real Caesar or lemon flavorings (and give me that burning heat feeling on my lips). It actually overpowered everything except for the cheese (couldn't taste the bitterness of the radicchio, maybe a little after taste of the sweet caramelized onions, totally missed any of the gorgeous leek awesome which should have been present). So the salad was like eating crunchy hotness with moments of cheesiness...no real smokiness. Not thrilled...and you're talking to a guy who loves salad, cheese, and spicy things. I would give this place zero stars if I could. I actually have decided to not eat Chop't anymore based on my experiences here. There have been a bunch, but what really hammered the nail on the coffin was the destination salad I ordered last week that came with rotting carrots and although the star of the show was the soba, basically a tiny little glob of soba noodles stuck together. Totally edible. But how nice, when I called them about the salad they offered me a refund (which hasn't processed - they said it's coming although it's been more than a week), and a free salad. I decided to take advantage of my free salad today. I requested kale - was given romaine. My salad came completely not chopped (see pics) and with not an ounce of dressing. Whoa way to make it up!
