The wait staff and the host had an attitude with us the whole time we were there. In the end we needed to split the bill but were told it was not possible to split it. When we tried to explain that we were not asked how we would like to pay and that we needed to split the bill he raised his voice at us and said "you listen to me it's not possible". The fact that this has more than one star is genuinely laughable. Arrived at prime dinner time with no wait, and a low amount of food in 90% of the pans. The other 10%? All looked over an hour or two old, not very appetizing, and just stale. There's two rows of hot food, separated by fried, seafood, etc. there's a Sushi row that looked a little appetizing but because the hot food wasn't hot, i didn't trust the cold food to be cold. The guy working the hibachi seemed highly annoyed that I was even asking for food, and just told me to set it down (he was mopping the line). Then proceeded to give me the worst hibachi I've ever had in my life. It tasted like all he added was chili flakes and vegetable oil, not the teriyaki I asked for. And when I came back less than five minutes later he was no where to be found, nor did I see him again so maybe he really was closing down.. at 6 pm ... Idk it was so bad it was just laughable. They refreshed two pans the whole hour we were there, one of which has been empty since we arrived and the other was supposed to be salt and pepper crab but lacked salt, pepper, and a good fry. I would never recommend or even consider this place again. The only one that semi enjoyed things was my two year old. I will say the decor is decent, and my server Cindy was absolutely trying to make things better. But Cindy and the building deserve better than the food and maybe the kitchen management they have. Absolutely unacceptable. I've been a regular at Chow King for over 9 months, and today was enough to end that. There was no wait to be seated, but service was still slow, especially when it came to drink refills. The buffet food was not hot, which is a major issue. As I was finishing my meal, I saw two roaches crawling on the floor. When I informed the waiter, there was no apology, concern, or urgency just complete indifference. At the front, we were asked for our party size, what drinks we wanted (soda, tea or water) and then we were shown to our table. To be transparent, I didn't try a lot of items on the buffet. I have been coming here when I need a seafood kick. I usually get all the different kinds of shrimp that they have. The salmon is also really good and not overcooked! It's also right around the corner from my salon so it's super convenient. I have never had any complaints. I literally walk in, they give me a to go box and I fill it up. I haven't spent more than $16 here for a box that lasts me two meals so the deal is there. I cannot speak on the dine in experience as I have always gotten my food to go. Most times dining alone means my things could be left at the table while I went to help myself to the food (in the next room). This time was no exception. The servers were watchful and I'm happy they kept watch. The food was as usual, good. I like the fried rice noodles, the fried chicken wings, the fried crispy shrimp, broccoli as well as the string bean stir fry. All were good. From te cold section, I love the shrimp (they were huge!), the mussels and a few of the sushi. For desert, I like the plantains. I don't venture out of my comfort zone at hibachis. I rank them according to how well they cook my usuals. And they rank really high. So I can add Chow King to my go-to hibachi in the NW. Parking is easy as it's in a strip mall. Traffic getting there is tricky, just be sure to avoid rush hour and you'll get in & out in a breeze. read more

I used to love going to Chinese buffets but the ones around me have really gotten super expensive and really horrible selection. One stopped The hibachi part and that was the best part for me. I found this one in Smyrna and decided to venture out that way today. It had a lot of selection and as far as I'm concerned most of it was really good. With a buffet it always depends on how fresh the stuff you get is. I don't review it like fine dining I review it for being a buffet. I had one of the biggest shrimp I have ever seen in my life. They also had a little clam dish that I love that other buffets only put out at dinner time. The price was cheaper than fast food. Just getting a hibachi would be worth that and it was piping hot and fresh. They do not have the noodle station anymore that was part of the reason we went there because my daughter wanted pho. But all in all definitely worth 12 bucks for lunch. Hopefully they can partner up with too good to go and sell some of the stuff instead of throwing it away. read more

As a long time Cobb resident, I frequent this place because of the location, variety of food, and quickness with which I can be in and out. Whether you want sushi, wings, fish, fried food, baked, food, grilled food.... they have it all. I love hibachi and they even have a grill where you can make your custom hibachi plate. This is a gem in the most unexpected place. I have visited this shopping complex several times visiting Best Buy, but for some reason I have never seen this restaurant atlas in my mind :-). We went as a party of 8 plus 4+ kids. The restaurant was huge and it has got themed blocks where you can sit. I was appalled by the variety of food that was available to eat. Every food that I tasted out of the buffet was up to the mark and was satisfying. One special thing about this place is that they had a row where you can pick up raw vegetables and do a custom Hibachi plate to be cooked by a chef. Just be prepared when you go to the chef, he could not communicate to you in English so just be prepared. But he did a great job on cooking the food properly. It would be great if the management would take care of the floors. The floors were always looked as if it was wet and sticky. If don't walk without my shoes, I am definite that it would be sticky. That was honestly the worst food we have eaten. I'm not trying to be mean, I just hope we don't get sick later today. When my husband looked at me and said all I can think about is Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, I knew I we were thinking the same thing. . My oh my. As anticipated, like all other Chinese buffets, the quality of their food went down after a while. Now, dont get me wrong, it is still a pretty decent place for the price, but definitely not as good as when it was still pretty new. The significant other also agreed since I feel like there's seldom any meat or flavor in these crabs. Aside from the two mentioned items, there were fried and steamed jumbo shrimps, two or three different fish dishes, crawfish (don't rec), mussels, and maybe scallops. They also have the typical noodles and rice dishes along with the fried chicken wings, general tso's chicken, etc. There's a sushi bar that was pretty extensive with raw oysters to one side and cold appetizers to the other. On the opposite side, there's the hibachi area. You will find the ingredients to make your creation along the wall. As for dessert, they have the typical fruits and cakes. They have a variety of items that you can choose from, and I like that everything is fresh and they keep bringing out food whenever it gets low. My son loves this buffet so much that he almost made himself sick trying to eat multiple times from their huge selection. Its not a lot of authentic Chinese cuisine on the buffet, so dont expect it, but its cool for feeding multiple people with different tastes on a budget. I am a pescatarian, and I was able to find enough vegetarian/seafood choices to create a plate for myself. We were prompted seated at one table but when we returned from the buffet, our drinks were at another table. The buffet had a decent selection but nothing looked too fresh. I think only the rice and broccoli chicken were replenished while we were there. The sushi looked like it had been sitting out for hours and only four pieces were left. They never brought out more. We both had water and only got a total of two refills. We were basically ignored after the first refill. We were never asked if we needed anything despite hovering around the buffet and coming back empty handed multiple times. Even when they brought out the check, we still did not get refills. Once we were ready to pay, we had to go to the the front and wait for several minutes to check out. There was no line. The three employees were clearly seated together doing nothing. Stopped in for a late lunch. As you can imagine, this place is the typical Chinese/Japanese/American buffet. They have sushi included in the buffet price. They have made-to-order hibachi, they have made to order noodles, ice cream, peel and eat shrimp, pretty much everything you have ever seen at these buffets. The staff was nice and tentative, clearing plates and not being judgmental about how much I can eat (which is a lot). The price for lunch was under $10.
