Cooking class, veggie prep at Chow
    Christine M.

Took a 2 hour cooking class with my husband, followed by eating the meal we made with the 3 other couples in our class. The class comes with 2 drinks from the beer/wine/cider bar. I had the BlackBerry cider and it was YUM. The instructor was likeable and easy going. Our dish, shrimp and scallops in an herb cream sauce over squid ink pasta, was fun to make and very tasty. The other couples were in a great mood and made for perfect company. Overall, we had an awesome date night at Chow, and I'm thinking about going again with a group of my girl friends.

We stopped here after a movie on Sunday and I got the mixed vegetables from Aladdin's. The seasoning was very good and the hummus was yummy however the portion size was pretty small for the price which was about 7 99. I love the idea of this Market. I hope there is more and more variety added. The sweets area is very pricey. It would be much sweeter if the prices were more reasonable. The taco place was closed but it looked interesting. I love that this Cinema has more choices in dining and is making an effort to involve the community!

Aladdin's is really delicious!! Vegetarian options! You can get all kinds of food, so a great place for "I don't know" everyone can get something different and hang together!

I stopped in for my first visit around noon for lunch. I was the only patron, so it's hard to gauge the individual vendor's service level, but perhaps that fact speaks volumes. Chow Public Market probably isn't going to be a destination , on it's own, as in "hey! Let's go to Chow", but if you are early for a movie, it's a nice place to hang out. They offer a mix of gelato, sweet shops, a spice shop, great hamburgers, tacos, etc. The best part? A beer and wine bar right in the middle. I had the Good Burger and fries from Good Burger. The knowledge that my server knew the difference between Cheddar and American "cheese product" eased my apprehensions a bit. It was a bit pricey, however, and in spite of me being the only customer I thought the food delivery should have been faster. In spite of an extended delivery time, the burger was better than decent, and the fries hot and fresh. I'd certainly stop in if I am in the area again, but I wouldn't make this a destination.

Just chatting away, ignoring patrons. I don't feel like I should have to raise my voice to get your attention to get another beer or give me my check. Waited 20 minutes and finally walked around the bar to ask for my check.

Good new addition to our old entertainment area. Nice place to hang out before or after going to the movies. They serve coffees, ice creams, beers, food (burgers, Egyptian meals, tacos), and more to open. If you want to hang out without worrying about parking, this is the first place to be.

Really wanted to like this place but I was just under whelmed and a bit confused. The middle is open with seating all around. it seemed like there were small stores inside but nobody worked in them. There is a coffee shop in on of the stores. Just kind of a weird layout. Oh and apparently Thursday through Saturday they are open from 11 AM till they close ...what does that mean?

The brisket was flavorful, the grits were good, and he substituted a biscuit for toast. Oddly, the biscuit was served completely plain. When I asked a staff member if it normally came with butter or jam, they looked genuinely confused by the question. I eventually just asked for jam, but it felt like a strange interaction. I ordered the Brisket Benedict and the Monte Cristo. The Benedict looked great when it arrived, but one poached egg was perfectly runny while the other was significantly overcooked with a mostly solid yolk. The brisket was dry, the collard greens underneath were dry, and there wasn't enough hollandaise to compensate. The breakfast potatoes were crispy and fine, but nothing memorable. The Monte Cristo was the biggest letdown. When I order a Monte Cristo, I expect something rich, savory, and indulgent. This version was made with bland white bread, the bacon was very soft, and the sandwich lacked the flavor and texture that make a Monte Cristo worth ordering. It looked better than it tasted. Service was pleasant, but no one checked on our table after the food arrived, despite the restaurant not being very busy. Had someone stopped by, I would have mentioned the overcooked egg. Overall, one good dish out of three isn't enough to make me want to return. Based on this visit, I'd give it 3 stars.

Walking in, it honestly felt a little more kitschy strip mall seafood spot than I expected -- huge menu, lots of combinations, kind of that Cheesecake Factory energy where there are SO many options you stop knowing what the specialty is supposed to be. Weirdly, even the frozen Trader Joe's cioppino has more richness and flavor going on. We also tried the halibut fish and chips and they were... fine? Not bad, not amazing, just kind of middle-of-the-road for the price point. That said, I do think this might just be one of those places where you order very specifically. Everyone seems to swear by the halibut plates with sauces, so next time I'd probably try something like the lemon caper version instead. But at around $35 for some of the plates, I kept thinking I'd personally rather go get sushi somewhere or have two really good craft cocktails instead. Still glad we finally tried it though because it had been on my local Boise food list forever.

Barbacoa is your place to go for a half entertainment and half great food overlooking the (Parkcenter) Pond for a great time and a great meal - (or not, there is a rooftop bar called Luna where one can imbibe if food is not your jam). This is a second trip to Barbacoa. This trip was perfect as hunger was involved AND a late reservation was needed. Barbacoa really books up, but we were in luck, snagging one of the last reservations on a Friday night! We had a lovely waitress and clean-up guy . Lighter appetites can get by on an appetizer (such as Stuffed Poblano Chile with its namesake Barbacoa Beef). We shared the Calamari Fritti with four different sauces which was lovely in presentation and delish! Saved for next time - they make guacomole table-side! Looks so entertaining and yummy! This review reports that surf and turf were enjoyed! One diner had the Baked Salmon, which was promptly eaten (so it must have been good) and yours truly had the special *American Waygu Ribeye Steak*. Not a staple on the menu, but a GREAT meal, especially if ribeye is a favorite cut! Another Pro-Tip: Oh and for those with a sense of humor, (or not), there is a small keyhole in the men's bathroom that appears to look directly into the women's room. I don't think they see anything serious, but it is cheeky for sure - ladies, make sure you are fully clothed before walking out! This will be on our regular rotation on future trips to Idaho!
