Oh I am so happy this latest version of Soulful Soups is just like the original location! Everything, right down to the beer bread is excellent. They were always our "go to" prior to broadway show matinees at the FIC, and now the tradition can continue. A tiny place staffed by a single lady (owner?) Food is very tasty but somewhat overpriced soups. A small bowl goes for $10, half that (a cup) for $8. Everything is simple, but very tasty. Sandwiches and combos are extra $. One star reduced for value, but still cheaper than many tourist traps near by. Keep in mind, Spokane is filled with homeless and 1-2 street block is enough to get from a fancy downtown to rundown areas. The spirits parts seems highly redundant there and I doubt many would choose a spirit to go with their biz lunch. read more

Finally made it in, on a rainy day to boot! Location: really convenient to downtown shopping, along with that you get difficult parking. I AM IMPRESSED! I have to say I was so sad when I heard that Soulful Soups was closing their downtown location. I went to their closing in April and was so prepared to never taste my favorite soup again... but then I got the most wonderful notification. Soulful had new owners and a new location (location is the previously One Tree Cider on Madison st). Aaron, one of the two owners was an ABSOLUTE sweetheart. He let us try so many soup flavors and my sister and I had such wonderful conversations with him. The new location offers so much more seating and it's bright. The soup, beer, and bread were just as AMAZING as their other location (the beer bread was caramelized on the bottom and it was drool worthy). That combo costs $15.50 and it is worth it! I did my usual tomato basil mixed with beer cheese and my sister did tomato basil with their Jalapeno popper - which was so delicious I took a few bites! We got soup to go which was the golden garbanzo goddess (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free btw) because this curry based soup was too good to leave behind! This new Location is so great! There is so much more room and plenty of seating. I brought my 4 little girls in to have lunch with me after a day at riverfront. They all ordered the tomato basil soup and I got the pork Pazole and side salad. The Pazole had such a great broth with braised pork chunks. It was perfectly balanced with the right amount of veggies to meat. Sometimes I think Pazole can be a little greasy/fatty but they did a really good job at keeping this lean without losing any flavor. I would definitely order the pazole again. All 4 of my girls ate their entire bowl of tomato soup and kept talking about how good it was. And of course, don't forget the beer bread, this stuff is addicting!!!!! Im so glad the new owners were able to find a new location and not close. For a total bonus, the new owners are so friendly. I cant recommend this lunch spot enough. Definitely go try it if you have not already and, if you loved their old spot, you will love their new spot even more. read more

They have such a unique concept where you can get soups, sandwiches, or salads with your option of draft beer and spirits! You order and pay first, then seat yourself! SERVICE: Great! Quick and very helpful and kind as we were navigated through the menu/favorites. They offer soup samples as well, so you can try all the options before making your final decision! -HOUSE TOMATO BASIL: This was great, maybe a little on the sweeter side. Texture is thicker-reminds me of Panera's Tomato soup. They added fresh parmesan on top! You have the option of adding a side of croissant or beer bread. I chose the CROISSANT and it was good. -CLAM CHOWDER: My husband got this. This was okay, but not my personal preference as I like my clam chowder with a more dense, thick texture. Positives first: the soups were genuinely really delicious! I enjoyed the bread as well, my mom thought it was pretty sweet, but thats up to individual taste. Super cute concept and had plenty of seating. Negatives: no dressing on the salad, wasn't very good. Overall price was expensive for what it was. My mom strongly disliked her drink. I would have loved a drink but they don't accept vertical IDs. I totally understand wanting to protect your liquor license and this is not a comment on staff since they're just executing restaurant policy, but if the restaurant is worried about staff not being able to identify a fake that's a problem with training that shouldn't be taken out on customers that want to pay you. read more

So, we heard of this place as a recommendation from another coach of ours. It's a super cute place with a great ambiance. I'm a fan of the inside, with the paintings (vibrant colors) from only one artist. That was pretty cool. The service again was fantastic and outstanding. Being someone who lives in Texas, take this with a grain of salt. We had the chicken artichoke and tomatoes basil soups. Personally, probably the best soups they have. We tried the jalapeno popper and it was very spicy. The beer cheese soup tasted ungodly for us. However, not our thing. The beer bread was really odd too, but we don't eat that typically. Baby It's Cold Outside? No worries, a bowl (or even a quart) of body-warming, soul-nurturing soup is just what you need! I did tonight and even though soup and salad is normally a lunch choice for me, it was the perfect dinner. Corn and bacon chowder with sour cream and cheese with BOTH salad and bread (yes, why one when you can get both) hit the spot. The chowder was creamy (not too thick!), herby, with bits of bacon goodness and plenty of corn. The bread was warm, a tad sour-ish (like a subtle sweetish sourdough flavor) with a nice, moist, tear-apart texture (like a super moist corn bread). First time there & the staff were very congenial & funny. The ambiance of the place was dark with a cool vibe. Great variety of music playing. Unique art work on the walls by local artists that was for sale-reasonably priced. My husband ordered a cup of spicy beef taco soup with a slice of bread and a turkey croissant. The soup came with Homemade beer bread- which I asked to smell...No calories when you just smell it, right? He enjoyed both! My son had a different bowl of soup than me with a slice as well & a ham croissant. He is a chef-so not easy to impress him. He loved the food & was so impressed with the bread that he bought a loaf to take home! Special Note* I am 2 weeks out from gastric sleeve surgery & I politely asked the gentleman cook if he could purée a cup of the so delicious salmon corn chowder as I was now on purée foods for the next 3 weeks of my weight loss journey. He did not hesitate to comply & even pointed out another soup to see if that was the level I wanted the cup of soup puréed! Needless to say this cup of soup (I can only eat 2oz. Favorites on repeat: Corn chowder - harmonious, sweet, salty and smoky with the bacon and corn base. Silky creaminess. Pork pozole - I cannot speak to the authenticity of this but it is tasty, savory, with rich meatiness and slight acidity. Honorable mentions: Salmon chowder - straightforward and delicious, nothing special. I prefer the sweetness of the corn Beer cheese - delicious, good mixed with tomato bisque but too rich on its own. Tomato basil - heavy on the herbs and acid, I prefer a more mild taste but this is tasty. I can tell it's fresh. If you order to go with a salad you get a baby handful of greens. Not sure this is worth it, so ignore your doctor's vegetable recommendations and just go for the soup and bread. Take care of your soul! read more
