I never learn. I tried Chowking in the Philippines and it was nothing special. I tried it here and it still was not anything special. Still, I give stars for the convenience factor if you want Filipino food (although I recommend going to a Filipino turo-turo instead). I like lumpia and pancit and have been craving it now for about two weeks. I asked a co-worker where to go and she recommended I try Chow King. At this point I was willing to try anything to get my fix (lol). The lumpia tasted like mashed up bullion rolled up in a lumpia wrapper. It didn't taste or look like I remember. As for the pancit which is noodles, it was ok nothing special that's for sure. Me and the wife were there yesterday 11-10-19. On the window they had a A rating. The garlic fried chicken was so dry. About 2 tablespoons of pancit with her combo meal. Our table and most of all the tables around us were dirty. Underneath the table by the feet of the tables were food dried up suggesting it has not been swept or cleaned in days. The bathroom were dirty no toilet paper or soap. Bathroom sink half full of dirty water. I would never recommend this place. Please take down the A rating totally misleading. It helps ease the pain of living on your own and trying to get a taste of home cooking. It will never match up to waking up to the smell and sound of mom frying up some longanisa and tapsilog, but its far better than what I can make at home. Service is great, but I kinda get the feeling that they expect you to speak and understand tagalog. There are no fountain drinks available, so expect to get a 1.00 can of soda or some halo halo, but I just save my money and drink the water for free. Ordered Lauriat meals and Chao Fan today seemed like it is just been heated in the microwave for 1minute and the bihon is just like they just put soy sauce on the noodles..it is soooo disgusting!!! The service and quality at this location has notably gotten neglected. Upon walking in you can see the staff both dressed in uniform and those not in uniform converging behind the front counter as we wait to have our order taken. Then calling out the customers order by the actual food ordered rather than the order number. What if customers order the same thing?!? Then they were taking to long with our side item only to find out that they gave it to another customer who obviously wasn't going to turn free food away. So we demanded a refund rather than waitfor them to make us another one. Lastly, the beef wonton noodle was undercooked. Noodles were hard, broth was bland, and portion size has gotten smaller. I like the food, I really do. It's the service and unorganization that really bugs me. My cousin and I were really craving some taho so we went in line to order some but they told us the wait would have to be 30 minutes so we decided not get it and got something else. I thought that they had some technical difficulties so I let it go. A few days later we went back to get some and this time they said the wait would be 40 minutes. That's ridiculous!!! Hmmmm, Chowking's siapao bola bola is mighty delicious and yummy. I love the sweet fluffiness of the steamed buns and the little pocket of chicken in the middle. The quail egg in the middle is not my favorite part of siapao, but it's still tasty. It's a good size, and you'll be hungry for more! read more

Come here often whenever I'm craving something sweet. Their Halo Halo is delicious. Their Taho is my favorite especially when it's cold out. I usually ask for extra syrup, might be too sweet for most so if you're not a fan of extra sweet then just take it how they give it. Their Black Gulaman sometimes has no flavor, but majority of the time it's good. My son loves their breakfast; fried rice, longonisa &tocino. We've had their fried chicken as well, but for me it's a little too salty. If you're in the area, it's worth stopping by depending what you're trying to order. My brother wanted to eat here for breakfast today, and I was a little skeptical because out of all places he wanted to go to Chow King. I remember it being good as a kid but I haven't been here in a while. We ordered the longanisa & bangus breakfast, the arroz caldo (came with a side of tofu & pork), and the new soy chicken. I was actually really surprised because it was good! Especially the arroz caldo, I definitely recommend it if that's what you're looking for. I come here for the beef wonton soup! I like to get it on hot and cold days :) Its a quick fix if I am craving soup and I'm too lazy to go get pho or ramen to-go. Its also only $5. Their foods are actually not that bad. The reason for 1 star is more on their service. I have been coming to this place since they actually had the chicken chow king. But I don't know why they don't have those items anymore. The sign says close at 10pm. I came here several time after 9pm. But the last time I came was 3 min after 9:30pm. The place still opened, but they couldn't serve me because they said they actually closed at 9:30pm. They haven't changed the sign yet. How hard is it to change the sign temporarily, so customers don't need to drive all the way to find out they don't take any order anymore. read more

I decided to check this place out after getting some groceries at Seafood City. The wait for my food was pretty slow considering it was almost 2pm when I decided to go. I ordered their garlic chicken combination that came with a soda and fried rice. It wasnt the best fried chicken I've ever had but it was still okay. Came here after Mother's day lunch with the family for some Halo Halo, I've been craving it for sometime now. I'm used to the Halo Halo at Conching's so for me this didn't satisfy the craving but it was closest to home. The only "scoop" of ice cream was vanilla. It's the first time I came here. I haven't been in this chain for years, so I was so excited, but then when I was there and finally had to order, that cashier gave me everything except for my drinks. I asked for it, and she asked me, "Oh you ordered a soda?" I have to scratch my head, how am I going to enjoy my food without a soda? And in the receipt it was pretty obvious I paid for it. I worked 3 years with chowking in the past and i loved their lauriats and their noodles. Now my wife decided to have lunch at chowking mira mesa and i ordered the lauriat. To my surprise the food doesn't look the same like the one on their poster and worse the pancit canton doesn't even have a single meat and it only had like 2 very thin slice of vegetables. The fried rice was like cooked in butter and they just added egg and lastly the sweet and sour pork which is one of my favorite in chowking had only a very small pork in it and the rest was flour!!!! They opened their branches here in the US and Filipinos for sure are expecting the same Chowking Taste we have in the PI but a lot of us here are So disappointed with Chowking!!!! No wonder 2 Chowking stores closed in National City because of poor service and disgusting food!!! And the prices are not reasonable at all!!! read more

Never will eat here again!!! Service is HORRIBLE! Ordered food at 1:05pm and was not served till 1:38pm. All i ordered was fried chicken, rice and lumpia. After going up to counter to complain about the wait time, the guy in the back was just putting the lumpia in the deep fryer and i was told that we were waiting on one of the chicken dishes. When we finally got our order, the noodles tasted like dry yakisoba and the chicken was so oily. They did not even bother to drain the oil and just put it directly onto the plate which burned through so that you can see how much oil drained. We also ordered 3 shakes which were made as soon as i placed the order but was not called up to the counter to get them until almost 10 minutes after they were made so they were already watered down. I was on vacation and decided to give this place a try. The dining room is not presentable at all, chairs and tables are scattered all over the dining area.
