BRING A CHAIR, came on Saturday 8/1/26 and arrived at 9:55am (opens at 11:30am), and there was already one party in line. We went to Ulta and officially got in line at 10:10am, total of 4 parties ahead of us. You never know how big these parties are so come early. The first time I went to Chubby Cattle was the one in Vegas. It was so good, we went back the next day, and both days we left completely stuffed. This location though.. YOU CAN'T COMPETE WHERE YOU DON'T COMPARE. The service was EXTREMELY lacking. They asked if we had been here before, I said yes but my boyfriend hadn't, and the server went ahead and assumed we didn't want the full introduction. I stopped him and told him we would like everything explained fully. He ran through the menu SO fast, ESPECIALLY the part for the SPECIAL ITEMS. If you're confused on the different tiers and their differences, I'll give you a run-down so good, you'd think /I/ worked there. SPECIAL MEATS ITEMS are either 1 per person for the Gold tier or 2 per person for the Diamond tier. THE A5 IS NOT ALL YOU CAN EAT. If you're going with multiple people you could potentially taste a little bit of all the A5 meats, BUT DO NOT ASSUME YOU WILL GET FULL OFF OF THE A5, because this honey, is a SAMPLING, NOT all you can eat. The six special meat options for both Gold and Diamond are: A5 Miyazaki Short Rib, A5 Top Blade, A5 Miyazaki Ribeye (this one is ONLY for Diamond, it's the only difference), A5 Wagyu Otoro Thick Cut, A5 Finger Meat, Full Blood Wagyu Steak. Along with that, the SPECIAL DISHES items are also either 1 per person for Gold or 2 per person for Diamond. The four special dishes you can choose from AT THIS LOCATION are: wagyu foie gras nigiri, wagyu uni caviar nigiri raw, lobster roll and scallop sashimi with uni. They do not have any other special dishes. THEIR MENU IS MISLEADING ONLINE, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE EVERYTHING AND NEED THEIR ACTUAL MENU FOR THIS LOCATION UPDATED You order on a tablet at the table, it has a ton of photos and you click the + to add your order to the cart before sending it to the kitchen. If an item does NOT have a + then it means the item is sold out. We were literally the fifth party on a Saturday, but 2 special dishes were already "sold out": lobster roll and scallop with uni. You'd think that if we told our server we were doing the highest tier (diamond), that he would go out of his way to inform us that 2 items were sold out, and that maybe we should consider doing Gold instead but I guess they're that money hungry? They also sold out of items that are supposed to be available for all tiers, such as the A5 wagyu stone pot bibimbap, the garlic sauce and the garlic enoki mushrooms. The mushrooms are what I looked forward to the most so I was EXTREMELY disappointed that they had "sold out". Ya'll really need to keep up with the demand or close up shop because the food here is not even as good as the one in Vegas. The self-service bar area is so tight and crammed, it's ghetto. It's the only word I can use to describe it, it's utterly ridiculous that both the servers and customers have to maneuver through a tight area. Not to mention it's by the bathroom too! Their samurai milk tea, rice and vegetables were good, but the mini slider had no sear and tasted almost boiled, the wagyu curry meat was extremely lean and chewy in a bad way, and the mapo tofu looked extremely oily and was the only thing I did not try from the self-serve area. Honorable mention for the soft serve ice cream, I was a big fan of their vanilla which was reminiscent of hokkaido milk. Really creamy and slightly rich, it was probably the best thing I ate there. Takoyaki was too doughy and undercooked, chicken wings were overly breaded, I'm telling you all of their side dishes sucked and I'm genuinely not a hater when it comes to reviews. Their sashimi was cut a bit too thick and wasn't the freshest fish I've had compared to the one in Vegas.. handroll was good though, thank god, but I just was not satisfied with their raw fish here. The meat quality was also sub-par. PLEASE JUST DON'T COME HERE, it's not worth the wait and the meat quality isn't even that good! My boyfriend has never had wagyu before, and he said it was good but the A5 wasn't worth the price hike, so he would come again to do the silver tier since he said the regular meats were already really good for the limited options you can get in the bay. Superb experience So you are telling me I can get quality and quantity? We came here for a late lunch and was surprised to find that there was a wait. After waiting about 15 minutes, we finally got our table. Our server Josh was a real hero. Walked us through the ordering and help us set up the Chubby app for maximize the discount. If you order the gold tier, you get a free membership. Food: All the A5 meats were incredibly juicy. Their meat quality/marbling was so high that it was surprising for AYCE. There are various marinades for the different cuts, including a memorable one with lots of truffle flavor. The server stopped by a few times to help us grill as well. The fire was really strong and added the nice flame charred taste we all love (just watch everything closely as it burns quickly). The sashimi and beef starters were excellent as well. The lobster roll took me by surprise but was actually pretty decent. Wash it all down with their cold slushies and milk teas. Areas for improvement: The vegetable selection is pretty sparse. Came for late lunch on a week day and the wait for a table wasn't too bad, but unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. After checking in, we still had to wait another 20 minutes to actually be seated. There were several employees standing around, but it seemed like the only person who could seat guests (I'm assuming the manager) was constantly busy packing to-go orders. It was frustrating watching the staff available while we were waiting to be seated. Once inside, the restaurant felt very crowded and stuffy. For a restaurant like this, the air circulation really could be better. The free bar/drink station is definitely a nice perk, but it's pretty limited and took a while to be cleaned and refilled. Free drinks are always a plus, though! As for the meat, the quality was very hit or miss. We tried a little bit of everything, and only a few cuts were good enough that we'd actually order them again. Most of the other cuts were low quality and so tough that they were difficult to chew and swallow, which was disappointing for an ayce place. Paid $62/pp for the Silver Tier with the membership which was not worth it. TLDR; I'm a big fan of Chubby Group but the Pleasanton location does not even compare to the Chubby Cattle in Rowland Heights, which has more food options, better ambiance, more spacious, and takes reservations. We had heard so many great things about Chubby Cattle that we were excited to finally try it. After seeing a posted 15-minute wait, we decided this was the perfect opportunity. Unfortunately, our experience never lived up to the hype. The first disappointment was the wait. Despite the estimated 15 minutes, we ended up waiting over an hour. That's understandable if a restaurant is busy, but it set the tone for the rest of the visit. The host was very nice and I kept on asking for updates for time, for which he kept telling me , it would be soon , but it never materialized to what was promised. Also due to the limited seating in there, if you come with a large group of 5 or more - you will be waiting a long time. They tend to take groups of 2 - 3 people AHEAD of you because of the way the restaurant is laid out and they are trying to maximize the space. So in effect the wait list becomes useless if the restaurant is busy. Once inside, we immediately noticed how warm the restaurant was. It was a hot summer day in Pleasanton, and while there were portable air blowers running, there didn't appear to be central air conditioning. Sitting at a table with a hot grill in those conditions made the restaurant increasingly hot and humid. By the end of the meal, it was uncomfortable enough that we were standing outside our booth just to cool off while eating. If you're considering the all-you-can-eat experience, it's worth knowing that there is a 90-minute dining limit. While that initially seems reasonable, the clock starts before you actually begin eating. Our food didn't arrive until about 15-20 minutes after ordering, and then we discovered our grill had never been turned on. After asking our server twice and then getting help from another server, we were nearly 30 minutes into our dining time before we were able to cook our first pieces of meat. The ordering system also became frustrating. You can place another order every five minutes, but our subsequent orders arrived sporadically. Some items came much later than expected, while others never arrived at all. Because of the delays, we kept ordering without knowing what was still coming, creating a backlog that made it impossible to pace the meal. Combined with the relatively small circular grill, there simply wasn't enough time or grill space to enjoy many of the premium selections before the timer was winding down. I've seen other reviews where servers assisted with the cooking , that was not the case with us today. The quality of the meat itself was good, especially the premium cuts. However, not everything impressed us. Some of the non-premium cuts, which is the ACYE part was very chewy, and in most cases so tough, it was hard to swallow the meat. If you filter on other 2 or 3 star reviews, you will see a similar assessment for the meats. As for the sushi, the salmon had a noticeably fishy taste and left several of us with indigestion afterward. We ended up filling up on the prepared foods and salad bar instead of the premium meats we had paid for. I would also think carefully before purchasing the membership. For us, it didn't add value because our experience left us feeling like we never had the opportunity to fully enjoy what we had already paid for, much less a reason to come back. What made this especially disappointing was that we were celebrating my daughter's college graduation. Our bill for five people was just under $500, even with discounts, and for that price we expected a much smoother and more enjoyable dining experience. I recognize that many people genuinely enjoy Chubby Cattle, and clearly they've earned a loyal following. This review simply reflects our experience. For us, the combination of the long wait, service delays, uncomfortable dining environment, and overall value made it difficult to justify the cost. If you're looking for a similar interactive dining experience, I'd personally recommend Nikuya Stone Grill across the freeway. While the meat selection may not be quite as premium, we've found the overall experience, service, and value to be much more enjoyable. In the end, Chubby Cattle isn't horrible, its really just mid and it just didn't deliver an experience that matched its reputation or its price point. read more

Eddie was absolutely fantastic!! Super attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He had perfect timing with check ins and made our graduation celebration feel special! We did the gold tier which had the special items which we really loved. The waygu nigiri with foie gras or uni were our favorites of the night. The A5 waygu was great quality and had good sides and veggies to pair with. The nigiri and the hand rolls were also good. I personally preferred the yellowtail. Soups were a nice touch, miso with toppings at the bar. Curry rice as a savory side which was very flavorful. Tom yum soup had a good kick to it with the spice. For deserts the egg tart was very yummy, flaking crust and soft custard. Ice cream vanilla was refreshing and good way to end off. The matcha mochi wasn't as soft or chewy as we used to. Ambience, nice aesthetic but inductions could be better and if you want a large party of 6, plan to go early as there's only 2 tables for bigger parties available. Second visit was very disappointing. Our first visit on July 20 was great. Cici was friendly and helpful, and we really enjoyed the food and service. We even joined the membership. Because of that experience, the three of us drove about 50 minutes from San Francisco to come back with family on August 9. Arrived at 11:28 a.m. and got #25. Checked in at 12:52 p.m., but didn't get a table until 1:28 p.m. The system showed our group as 1st in line, but two other groups were seated before us--one with five and one with four. The employee who checked us in, wearing white slippers, said they had a reservation. When I asked how to make one, he said, "You can't." Both visits were $78 per person before tax and tip. Shot out to my little nephew who actually told my family and I about the place and my little sister for treating us out! Review the different tiers before you get in so once you are seated, you can tell the server which one you and your party would like so you can start ordering on the screen at the table. They are strict on the time you are alotted so keep tabs on your time! The time starts once you are seated. There is a huge selection of different meat that is bite sized, flavorful *no dipping sauces needed!*, and buttery *melts in your mouth*! Put it on the grill, cook it for a little bit, and it's ready. That Wagyu hits different! It's so good! My favorite meats were the Miyazaki Wagyu Short Rib, Miyazaki Ribeye, and the Wagyu Otoro Thick Cut. The Wagyu Foie Gras Nigiri is one sensational bite! To go with the meat, they have a self service station to get fresh lettuce leaves, thinly sliced jalapeños, thinly sliced garlic, Mung Bean Sprout Salad, King Oyster Mushrooms, and more. This place is easily the best Korean BBQ I've ever had. I put coming to this place off for months due to the extreme wait. However, I figured I'd just check in, go home, and come back at a closer to my check in time. The wait time was 255 minutes. We were seated immediately upon receiving the notice that it was time to check in so the system works but everyone wants to come here so a wait time is inevitable. We picked the diamond tier which allows 2 premium Wagyu options per person, around 88 bucks a person, but it was worth it! First bite I was hooked!!! Everything on the menu is pretty much Wagyu along with some pork and seafood options. They also have soups and sides. The salad bar here is amazing! Same with sides. Pick what you want. There is a self serve soda machine and ice cream machine as well. I see why there is such a long wait here and I'm already planning my next visit! The quality is worth the money. My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary since we had been wanting to see what all the hype was about. The waitlist is definitely intense--we joined the list at 5 PM on a Wednesday with an estimated wait time of one hour, but ended up waiting past two hours. As for ordering, there are three tiers to choose from, and the higher the tier, the more menu items you can order. A heads up for anyone with allergies: anything with sauce contains PEANUTS, but as someone with a peanut allergy, I let the staff know and they were extremely accommodating, making sure our table was kept free of any peanut products. The biggest downside was the lack of ventilation or overhead fans, which made the space very smoky and caused my eyes to burn throughout the meal. It's fine - question is are you willing to wait in-person for a few hours and spend approx. $100 per person. Personally, for the quality you get, the trade-off is not worth it. For dinners on the weekend, the waitlist opens at 4 pm (only in-person), with people starting to line up at 3 pm. If you arrive at 4 pm, expect an estimated wait of a minimum of 2 hours with no guarantee of being seated. Tier-wise, if you're willing to spend that much time waiting, gold and diamond are the only viable options. While the special meats are quite delicious, you only get a couple, the rest of the menu is nothing you couldn't get at a normal KBBQ restaurant. Additionally, individual portion sizes are small, so you barely get any of the speciality meats. The reason Chubby Cattle is so popular is quite frankly due to 1) quantity 2) variety of choice and 3) fun gimmicks like the auto-rice dispenser. While you can get sushi, theres only a couple basic options and the nigiri is supermarket quality. Funny enough, in terms of flavor the jasmine milk tea was one of my favorite items. The service is very good, however, that's only if you get in. Since they're so busy, they will not have time to answer questions about the waitlist. As a whole, Chubby Cattle is not bad for all-you-can eat, but the wait time and cost are steep for what you end up getting. read more

Thank goodness we were seated quickly! Our son had been telling us about this place and highly recommended it. Since we were already passing through on our way home from a trip, we decided to finally give it a try. It's normally about an hour's drive for us, which is why it took us so long to make it here. Our server was very friendly and attentive, but unfortunately, the rest of the experience fell short. It was extremely hot inside. I'm not sure if the main AC was broken, but they only seemed to have a few small portable units set up. The interior also looked run-down and didn't feel very clean--especially compared with the other two Chubby-affiliated restaurants we've visited. None of the wagyu on the tiered platter was very good. It was so chewy that we had to spit out several pieces. The chicken wings were the only dish we truly enjoyed. The burger was cold and hard, and the seafood dishes were just okay. Honestly, aside from the wings, the best parts were the fruit bar and ice cream. Considering all the high ratings, we were genuinely surprised and disappointed. I definitely wouldn't wait longer than 20 minutes to eat here. I'm excited for more NorCal locations to open since this one is the only one open at the time I'm writing this. This is the only location where it's a whole process. I wanted to celebrate my late bday dinner here with some friends. We showed up at 2:50pm on a Saturday to wait in line for the waitlist. There was already a line but luckily we were kinda in the front of the line. We had 6 of us and we waited the whole hour for the wait list to open up at 4pm. The plaza has a lot of Asian food so we were able get snacks and drinks from bakeries, boba shop and 99 ranch grocery market next door while waiting in line. Finally they brought out the iPad around 4:10pm to put your name on the waitlist. Our table was finally ready around 5pm. Our group decided the gold tier ($78/person) and we had to order on the touch screen at the table. I believe we had a max order of 22 items each order and had to wait in 5 minute intervals. We had a hour and half limit of our table but it was plenty of time for us to eat. I'm so glad it's AYCE for the price we paid. The Wagyu and all the meats we had were so delicious. The meat was so tender. Our table had two different dipping sauces and some peppers on the side. They also offer seafood options such as salmon and yellow tail nigiri's, sashimis, hand rolls, and scallops which was also delicious. They have unlimited drinks like sodas, slushies and milk teas. They had a vegetable, fruit bar and side dishes. They even had Wagyu sliders. The service was pretty efficient. They always had people coming around to clear our empty plates. Our waitress even cooked some meats for us on the grill. We had a booth table and there was a small shelf under the table for extra space for dishes. And the booth had a spot to put our purses which was nice. They also had free dessert which was vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Sadly they sold out the matcha mochi. Finally got the chance to check this place out! We were a little scared that there'd be a line even on a weekday but thankfully we were second in line! Their servers work hard in the limited space they have. Raymond was our server and he was the best! He was attentive and enthusiastic- it honestly made our experience even better. Finally came back to this area and knew this place was on my hit list. Checked in a right before 4pm and was sat around 6:40pm. Come early for the waitlist. Each table has a tablet to order from so no need to flag down your waiter. Cici was amazing at explaining everything for our first time and cooked our first round to make sure we were able to enjoy the meats. Best service we've had in a while. Thanks Cici! I heard how popular this place was and finally was able to come here on a weeknight. We put our names on the waitlist through Yelp and although the wait time was 75 minutes, it ended up being a 40 min wait instead! I was quite impressed with the self-serve area! I have never seen a contraption that puts out rice! Thought that was cool. I was also impressed with the choices of drinks they offered - two types of milk tea, two types of slushy-like drinks, sodas. For meats and other items, we had to use the screen at our table to order. There was a limit to how many items you can order at one time. But then we were able to order more later. The meats were flavorful and tender. The nigiri and carpaccio were delicious as well! The wagyu curry over rice was really good. Overall, enjoyed everything I ate and the experience. My friend was member, so we paid the member price and got the Silver level. There was a 90 min time limit, and the time remaining showed on our screen at the table. read more

Simply put it was an AMAZING experience, and one that brought me back to the luxury buffets in Japan. Undeniably the best Japanese BBQ you will have in the Bay Area. This is a huge chain taking over for a reason! We got the gold tier which was $78 per person. Extremely steep price but the meat was so juicy, succulent, tender, and fatty. They also have unlimited fruit/salad, sushi/sashimi, milk teas and drinks, egg tarts, rice, soup, and more fried food/non-meat items. I think the sushi quality here was just okay! Definitely try the wagyu hand roll though. Also, I highly recommend making a reservation before arriving. Excellent service. Extremely busy yet still super attentive, constantly checking up on us and offering to help cook our meat. Place is nicely decorated with Japanese signage. A5 wagyu is really good. However, whichever option you choose, it's limited to how much you can get. The all you can eat options are a drastic difference. The sushi options are pretty fresh. They do accommodate gluten free meet without the sauce, but there will be cross contamination due to the shared grill, unless your entire party are gluten free eaters. My only complaint is that the gluten free options could be more clear. some of the sushi I had to continuously as the waiter to place the order without the sauce. Went there for an early dinner and ended up going with the Diamond Tier. It was really good, but I will caution that the A5 wagyu tastes amazing, like butter, but it is going to be heavy! If you're not used to it, it's gonna hit hard. Service was impeccable and food was delicious! read more

I came here with my fam a while ago during their soft opening but their waitlist was 3 hrs long so we weren't able to go but now we're finally here. We ordered the silver tier option which at the time of me making this review is $58 for non members, $49.99 for club members. The food was good, they had a wide assortment of meats for just the silver tier. Their salad bar was also pretty cool. They had a rice dropper machine as well as a milk tea drink dispenser which I haven't seen before. I will say tho that the salad station is pretty cramped, it's definitely not for husky people. The ordering system here is kind of complicated and Inconvenient for bigger parties. We came in a party of 6, and their booth seating where they placed us had very little wiggle room. Also it didn't help that the iPad menu ordering system is accessible only for 2 people to see so it took longer for our party to look through the options and order. Concerning our service, it was awful at first, I couldn't remember our first server's name, but she was talking way too fast and always seemed in a hurry. Our second server Rachel who came to relieve her for her break tho was very good. She was very attentive, kind, and patient with all of our questions which we really appreciated especially since we were a slightly bigger party lol. FINALLY got to eat here without the hours long wait. Note: Get here 30 minutes before opening to pit your name in their ipad waiting list in the front. Upon opening we were the second party in line. I got to beat the drums before being directed to a booth near the front. Hubs got the Diamond membership the last time he came with friends so that gave us a bit of discount for 2 ppl. Perfect for our impromptu lunch date while it was raining outside. Viet was our amazing server the whole time. He gave his most popular recommendations and some of his personal favorites. He made sure we had everything we needed and highly attentive at the grill. Changing out the wire racks and grilled the meats and seafood to perfection. Absolutely chef's kiss throughout. Some of the stand out items were the fois gras wagyu nigiri . The A5 thinly sliced. The beef toro wagyu (it looks and tastes just like bacon) and then the pork version. Nothing like mouth watering grilled meat on a cold chilly day. To think, I already ate after my TRX workout so I would have ate more had I been hungrier. The portion were just right, no more than 4 bite size pieces, so that you can try pretty much a bit of everything. I was hesitant about coming here not only bc of the long line but bc of how rich A5 grade Wagyu can be. I didn't want the "meat swears" afterwards and turn into a vegetarian . But to my surprise, it wasn't that heavy. Viet squeezed lemon juice as he grilled which tenderized and added just enough flavor without overpowering it. They did have dipping salts and one spicier with cumin. I also love their fresh fruit bar (watermelon, sweet cotton candy almost grapes, juicy oranges, pineapple to help digest and strawberries). The other self serve bar (cold) were the bam Chan side dishes. They have slush drinks (blue and red), two kinds of pretty good milk tea (jasmine green and black tea), hot sliders, corn cheese, egg tarts (tasted more like cheese tarts), a rice station with 3 different scoop sizes, and I know I'm missing something but I need to head out soon. Came here on a Sunday afternoon, waited about an hour and a half. Good thing it's near a shopping plaza for us to kill time because this place gets super busy. Me and my hubby love love loves this place. Soooooo good! Our server Kelly provided excellent and friendly service. She helped us learn about the membership and also helped us sign up. Food is great quality, can't go wrong with any of their choices. The foie gras nigiri was the best thing there! This one was a major miss for us. Everyone we spoke to gave high praises for this restaurant. We finally sat down after being on the waitlist for 2 1/2hr and the place is poorly ventilated. We ordered the diamond option which provides you with the option to select all the premium wagyu cuts and seafood. We tried all the meat cuts and I am not sure how they can call it A5 Wagyu. I've had A5 Wagyu many of times and this definitely was NOT A5. There were cuts that we just couldn't chew and had to toss it out. The premium seafood was the worst. We ordered the Hokkaido Uni and seared salmon nigiri. The Uni was the most disgusting things we ate, it taste as if it was dry freezed, it was a ball of dried something with a slight Uni flavor. The seared salmon did not taste like sushi grade, it had a refrigerated taste to it. We really had high hopes for this place, we first wanted to try it in Los Angeles but the lines were too long, and finally got to try it in Pleasanton.
