It's great seeing a few fried chicken spots in Tri Valley. This is good as Von's Chicken. Love the chill and clean atmosphere here. The fried chicken was delicious.... juicy, crispy, and flavorful. I appreciate they offered gloves so your hands don't get sticky. But I'm used to eating with my hands anyway! The sodduk sodduk was a great appetizer to have. It was crispy on the outside while chewy inside. I wish it was more saucey, but the sausages made up for it. The pickled radish that came with the chicken was sweet and crunchy, which balanced everything nicely. This definitely hit my craving so you will enjoy some bomb KFC if you visit the area. read more

Enormous pieces with lots of sauce! Ttobongee is your typical order to-go Korean chicken joint. There isn't much searing and they don't really have table service. My friends and I ended up sitting and eating since we didn't check beforehand. The portions are huge! It was a bit funny because one of the plates had a regular sized chicken drumstick hidden under all of the plumped up ones. While the sauces were great, I personally liked the Yangnyum the best! It had a sweet, tangy flavor to it. It's a small chicken shop great for to-go meals. Despite this, they still kept it clean and bright inside. They have good ol' school yangnyeum (sweet/spicy) flavor I grew up with in Korea! I ordered online since I saw that it would take 20-25 minutes, according to the online platform. It was perfect timing and they graciously allowed me to switch to dining in. There are 4 tables inside so it is a bit cozy but they have a setup convenient for immersive but messy chicken eating - such as, disposable gloves and a mini-trash can. I would have dined in their shaded patio but it was getting chilly out. When I wrapped the rest of my chicken after my fill, they added an extra radish pack which I appreciated! I did notice another party who mentioned their chicken was too bland. I wasn't sure which flavor(s) they ordered, but after experiencing that their yangnyeum flavor is what I consider "OG" (more subtle, not overly sweet/spicy) I can understand. At the same time, I think this is the charm of this place that I do find most other Korean franchises try to match the current "trendy" palate that is sometimes too much for me. After trying so many different korean fried chicken spots in the bay, i think this is a good average spot for your KFC cravings. did it wow me? not too much, i felt like flavors were ok and crunch was a little lackluster for me. Maybe i will order sauce on the side next time so it keeps the crispy factor. If i were to compare this to Vons, i think i would still prefer Vons because their chicken is more crispy and the sauce is more unique. however, service was decent. Four of us had fun having Chimek (fried chicken and beer) after a round of golf - the perfect 19th hole! The old fashioned fried whole chicken was our favorite. Since I was on the area I yelped it and saw Ttobongee wasn't too far from me. If pictures didn't lie, I was in for a treat! Quickly called in to ask a few qualifying questions then quickly placed my order for one of each kimbap roll. Took them home to share with the family. Bugolgi kimbap: full of main ingredients. Tasty seasonings. Bold flavors. Loved the finish of sesame oil. Could have done without the vinegar, even tho light. Fishcake kimbap: more subtle flavors. Still very good. Each roll about $11. Everything was tasty, and we were given some neat 3 finger gloves to use (so fingers don't get dirty). The chicken was crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. It was pretty crunchy. We had the half order (10 pieces) for both flavors and it felt like more than 10, or that the pieces were very large! Lots to have for a second meal. This has to be one of my all time favorite Korean fried chicken places in the East Bay. The store is located in a somewhat small plaza near Alameda County Fairgrounds. I think this is mostly a take out place because it's a bit small and doesn't have many tables, but I highly recommend dining in and trying the piping hot fried chicken fresh out of the fryer. They provide you half gloves(?) that cover 3/5 fingers so get ready to get messy because those gloves won't do much. The chicken is seasoned to perfection, addictively crispy on the outside, and so very tender inside. I've almost tried all the flavors/sauces they have on their menu. My top two have to be the green onion and maip dak. Be careful though because maip dak is spicy; and if you like spicy, this will not disappoint. read more

Yelp saves the day again. We needed a quick lunch and wanted to try something new. We've had Korean fried chicken at other places and after scrolling through Yelp reviews we figured we'd give this place a shot. Location is pretty unassuming. Looks like a usual strip mall. They have their menu posted outside so that's always helpful for newbies checking out the menu for the first time. As soon as we stepped in, we were promptly greeted and seated. We ordered a half combo portion of the Yang Nyum Chicken (fried chicken with sweet and Korean chili sauce), some steamed rice, and a bowl of ramen to share. We devoured it ALL between the two of us. Everything was so tasty. We went mild on our dishes and there was already plenty of flavor with a slight kick. They give you these disposable "half gloves" so you don't get your fingers super messy when eating the chicken. Those were actually suprisingly helpful. Great experience and great food! read more

Full size portion was smaller than expected as some drum sticks sizes are much smaller than others. Overall taste was good but not a good value for your money or if you have a big eater as you would probably need to order more to feel full. I have had better tasting Radish chunks. I got 4 flavors; Ttobongee - the house original fried chicken, crisp was solid, flavor was solid, there was a very light glaze to it that seemed kind of sweet. Overall, solid flavor. Yang nyum- sweet Korean chili sauce all over the wings. Sweet, savory, very delicious. Chicken was juicy and tender and the mixed combo, wings and thighs were absolutely delicious. Maip dak- spicy sauced up wings, however, for me, it could have been a tiny bit spicier but it did have a nice kick to it. Also had a sweeter taste due to the sauce. The crispy- extra fried crispy chicken, still delectable without sauce. All in all, this place would probably be in my top 5 kfc spots within the east and South Bay Area. read more

We each got two different kinds of chicken wings: Original Ttobongee and the Jalapeño chicken. Both were pretty tasty. I could tolerate the Jalapeño chicken's spice level at 1 chili level. I am curious and San to try the Maip Dak , which is the 3 option. I'll make sure to order some white rice with it :) I also enjoyed their pickled radish. It really clears the palate just before having your first bite or between chicken wings. This place is best for take out as they do not have a very big place for dining in.
