Good have such chinese bbq in town. It is a bit pricey and the portion of food is small, it is like the size for food sampling at $1.20 each. The charge for using the spices at the table and set up the grill is ridiculous, these are the basic set up and shouldn't be charged. For the overall experience, paying the spices, paying the set up the grill, all food are cooking by yourself, pretty much you can do it yourself at home and make no different. Like it to have street type of food but less likely going back as it is pricey (2 people with tips $82). The services and the staffs are super friendly. It's a fun experience but a lot to know up front. Skewers are 1.2 each but if you PAY for their membership of $58 a year then you can get the skewers for $1 each. It would take 280 ($58 x $.2 savings per skewer) skewers to recoup that membership cost. The place is hot. I was actually sweating. This building is like 40 years old at least so the AC sucks. It's like a swamp cooler. You have to fill your own water so what am I tipping for? I get my own skewers, I fill my own water, no one checks on me. They CHARGE $4 for the charcoal, and $4 to use spices. We really didn't use the spices so that's a dumb charge. The meat sticks not surprisingly do not have much meat on them. They use tiny 5" paper plates which is dumb because it's like you're scraping and eating paper mache when it gets wet from meat and sides. But if you give them 5 star reviews, they take off the charcoal and the spice charge. They can keep that $8 and I'll review at my free will. This is a national franchise so in theory you'd think it'd be better. I actually liked their sides the most. I just didn't like everything else that I just mentioned above. Would I go again? Yes but probably not in the summer. It's not like the meat had a one of a kind flavor. I just think it's nostalgic for people. read more

Our experience was okay for the most part . Not great if you have kids and for our first time, I expected a little more of a breakdown . But maybe it was just our server. She kept forgetting everything we asked for , we asked for one item 3 different times. All in all it was ... okay, I made my own sauce to help jazz up the meat which helped . I don't know if I'd come back but it was a fun experience. Also ask to change out the coals , if you feel it's slow .... An hour of painfully slow cooking and someone else came by and asked us if we wanted to change it out. What a difference it made , if we would have know it could have cut our time down significantly. read more

The food was good, unlike Korean BBQ they have the meat in refrigerators and you grab the meat and bring it to your table. You grab your water and bring it to your table. So it's really all on you to do and then get to your table and grill it. We had a table of 5 and we had 1 burner and it was a challenge. The meat was good which was redeeming but some portions are really skimpy. The scallops for example are tiny and only had about 3 on there. I get they are a dollar and some change skewers but the portions don't seem right for some. Also one thing my party didn't like was how loud it was. The music is blasting like a night club. Then you have to talk louder to hear your table. Now this place is great if you want late night eats but it doesn't really make for a great place to really be able to eat and hear your family. I like late night eat places but the music was blasting and it was only 5pm. read more

Overall good experience. We ate rather light, but those skewers add up quick! Each skewer was $1.50 and came with four bite size pieces of meat or veggies. Here, you do everything yourself, including grabbing, seasoning, and cooking the skewers, and submitting orders online. Chubby Skewers was a unique dining experience. We enjoyed the concept of grabbing miscellaneous skewers and trying some new items. We were surprised that we really like the chicken hearts, cow tongue & chicken feet, for example. If you're less adventurous, there were more typical meats as well. We went on a busy evening and some items were out of stock at various times & the place is a bit smoky if you're sensitive to that. Our family of 4 had 60ish skewers. I agree with others who say the portions are quite small. We sampled several desserts and were really disappointed in all of them- the "house special" peaches and leeches were just canned fruit served in a bowl of light syrup. This was an interesting but my autistic brain was calculation the cost to what you get with every skewer and its so not worth the money they have an interesting selection of meats but charging 1.25$ for a bread stick or 4 cloves of garlic is absoulty insane it should be a ayce resturant and that would help me with my enjoyment tremendously. The service was non existent it was hard to get a water even after we ordered one. Love the idea of just walking over to the fridge to grab your skewers. A lot more efficient than trying to flag down a server. Wish I knew about being able to order oil, maybe next time!
